Used to go here all the time, love the Thai Basil Shrimp, but after some employee turnover, they suddenly are competing for the we are tirelessly trying to make sure you never step foot in our restaurant again awards. The Thai Basil shrimp or chicken used to be pretty consistent, but then started this pattern of sometimes its good, sometimes its pretty awful, guess it depends on who does the cooking. The third to the last time I came here my friend and I waited for like 15 minutes after we ordered and no food, mind you it takes all of 45 seconds to stir fry this dish. I walked to the counter and said, did you all forget me? The blond haired manager was very nice and apologetic and gave me 2 coupon cards for 2 free meals, but when we got the food, lack of noodles and very oily. The second to last time I came here with one of the coupon cards, and again, like 15 minutes to get the food, lack of noodles and really oily. Today I said to myself, going back with the last coupon, Ill just order something else. So I get in line behind 1, I repeat, one customer who is ordering. I am standing behind this guy for 5 minutes, then I say, excuse me, but could I please order? They have 3 cashiers. The girl at the cash register says, excuse me, Im the cashier today. But the rest of the employees, including the manager are well aware your like waiting forever, but dont seem to care. And you know why they dont care? Because their entire focus at that store is on the post mates and uber eats customers. In all 3 cases theres hardly anybody in the dining room, but they are working away filling orders and putting them in to go plastic bags. So thats their deal: screw the in store customer, if they dont like it they can go somewhere else. So if you go to this store you can count on a guaranteed long wait for not so good food. The entire crew at this store should go to Habit Burger and just watch the show, those people get it when it comes to great customer service experience.

1st time here, went to get food at the PhilHouse. the food was good to look at. i ordered kare kare, papaitan, pakbet and tilapia na may sauce. everything looks great until i ate it.pakbet was lots of eggplant, crushed squash, 1 thick slices of bitter gourd (ampalaya) and looooots of okra.the kare kare was a bummer too! the meat on top looks good (about 2 pieces of it) and then when you dig in on the bottom of the container, the beef part was the yucky part. i mean, the meat mataba na malitid na dikit na dikit ung kakaunting laman. in short, something that shouldnt be served on a meal that you are paying for.the papaitan - okay, that was good. but i hope they cut the tripe a bit more bite size next time.the fish (tilapia with black sauce) - i thought it was fried so i ordered it. the fish was really fishy (malansa) so i should have not ordered it.over all, i will go eat here again (only because it is the closest to our place)

Delicious and Filling have just met authentic and affordable!I love delicious and simple! When it comes to the best of both I found Paiks Noodle House!!I had to have the beef Jjamppong which is a soup like dish that can also be made wit seafood as well.I couldnt stop eating mine and making it extra spicy!! The restaurant is very clean and authentic to high expectations! My friend had to try jaengban jjajang which is very similar to chow menu but you get good thick and flavorful noodles that you must cut with the noodle cutter they bring you!Perfect blend of filling and flavor and the price is a well made investment for a wonderful experience! We will be coming back to try the many other items here, the environment has a nice pleasant way of it.The selections are kept to a reasonable number so you can try the best of each!
A & W BBQ Seafood Restaurant
16906 San Fernando Mission Blvd, Granada Hills, CA 91344, United States
I would NOT call this place authentic. And the experience is subpar. I dont like leaving bad reviews because I understand that many Mum & Pops may be constrained by the economy. Then again, I was spending money, and I had expectations of an authentic Chinese restaurant. To that end, this place was a huge disappointment. As of May 2024, one crab plate here costs about $70. When a dish costs this much, I expect above-average experience in (1) food, (2) atmosphere, and/or (3) experience.I did not order crab on this occasion because this was my first visit. Instead, I ordered BBQ pork and roasted duck at $40. Look at my picture. This is what $40 gets you here, minus tip.Food was below average. While Char Siu BBQ pork was authentic in that it was not colored with artificial red coloring, it was basking in runny sugar sauce . . . A big No Go. Anyone who had authentic BBQ pork would know that this is not authentic Char Siu in the conventional sense. This was more like To-Go Chinese food tailored to average American consumers. The duck was so so and I could not smell the distinctive duck aroma. All in all, the food might impress folks who arent used to authentic Chinese food. Based on these cheaper dishes, I am not going back to eat the $70 dish.Speaking of the $70 dish, I cannot help but compare this place to other places that have similar prices (i.e. Newport Seafood in San Gabriel). Unlike other authentic Chinese restaurants, this place had dirty carpets not been cleaned for ages, and the furniture looked at least 20 years old. The window had dust piled on the surface. They clearly dont wash windows. I can pay $12 for a to-go box at this place. But $70 for a dish.... here? Absolutely not.Another thing that shocked me: they charge for water. There is no option to get a cup of water because they only offer Kirkland water bottles for $1.50. Good luck if youre thirsty and need a refill. Now, this might be ok to unknowing patrons, but I have never been to an authentic Chinese restaurant that charges for water. On the other hand, I have been to Panda Express and like the kinds that charge for water bottles. My point is that this place operates more like a To-Go Chinese than an authentic Chinese restaurant.I wont be coming back here. If a cheap dish sucks, an expensive dish will most likely suck too. And I dont want to dine at a place that refuses to provide basic services (i.e. cup of water), especially when I am shelling out $100+ for a meal. One more thing: I DID NOT SEE LIVE CRABS OR LOBSTERS ON DISPLAY. This place most likely sells frozen shells. There is only one type of customers who would pay top dollars for frozen crabs/lobsters: Suckers.Again, not worth the money. Just go somewhere else if youre looking for an authentic Chinese food experience.
