Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
24231 Crenshaw Blvd Suite A, Torrance, CA 90505, United States
Please dont eat here if you are expecting fresh food and decent service. My date and waited over 45 minutes for soggy food that tasted like plastic because it was microwaved in the containers and overcooked lumps of rice. The noodles were rubbery and congealed and looked and tasted like it was sitting in a fridge for two days and the won tons were slightly burned. I have tried the food at the San Pedro location and the food was good and fresh so I was really unpleasantly surprised at the lack of quality and the long wait for the food we ordered. I felt bad for my date because he spent over $50 for the food only to wind up with a lot of leftovers going into the trash. 1 star because their never selection was decent. Update: 2/25/24My date got sick with diarrhea and stomach cramps in the morning after he ate the leftovers he took home from the restaurant for breakfast. Ill definitely not be returning to this location and warning friends not to order from this place. Awful!
Sausalido Cafe
3566 Redondo Beach Blvd, Torrance, CA 90504, United States
Came here on a whim due to hunger pangs as my car was being worked on by my mechanic. I was greeted by a man by the name of Julius and his lovely wife Lucy both whom I correctly assumed were the owners. They had a dignified and most welcoming countenance about them. I ordered the Dragon noodles with chicken and a house made strawberry soda. I must say, though he admitted that this was his version of pad Thai, it rivals the best of them out there. It was scrumptious and had perfectly balanced flavors that makes you want to keep shoveling in your mouth. No joke, some of the best noodles I've had which is surprising coming from an unassuming little cafe. You can taste the care that went into this dish. Needless to say, I was very impressed. The lesson here is this: don't overlook little businesses such as these for you will be pleasantly surprised just as I was with this little cafe called Sausalido Cafe on a non descript strip mall. Let's support one another by supporting small businesses such as these! Man, those noodles SLAP!! ??

Tldr: Doesnt take covid seriously. Dont bother making reservations. We reserved an outdoor table --a must with my elderly, at-risk mother during covid. We have to take extra precautions, which is why we reserved a table outside. The host (manager?) had very clearly just given away our table by mistake, to a party of 3 that had just arrived. They hadnt ordered, gotten drinks, nothing. My shy, elderly mother very patiently explained that she had a need to sit outside and that we had reservations and we grabbed our confirmation. He became very angry and started becoming AGGRESSIVE with her. The situation was very obvious to everyone. He didnt want to admit his error and took his aggression out on my mom.Look, I get that mistakes happen. A polite, half-sincere apology, and we would have smiled and come back another time. But the way he talked to my mother and tried to blame HER for having health concerns made us feel very unsafe. LOOK, reservations arent GUARANTEES, you dont HAVE TO sit outside thats your PREFERENCE.... Kinda needlessly mean? And kinda discriminatory. We confirmed multiple times for an outdoor table and even moved our reservation time once to accommodate the restaurant.Furthermore, the party that hed given our table to had literally just gotten there (no drinks no nothing), it was very obviously his mistake, and we explained a legitimate medical need to be outside.Which leads me to believe that this establishment doesnt actually take covid, or covid precautions seriously.Kinda confused what the point of reservations are, if were going to show up to just get accosted?Ive been here many times, but I am baffled at the raw hostility. Like, bro, you dont need to scream at my elderly mom for her health concerns? For the amount of money youd spend here, youre better off going to somewhere nicer in the neighborhood.
Depot Restaurant
1250 Cabrillo Ave, Torrance, CA 90501, United States
I planned a Memorial event for my mom at the Depot in Torrance and I cant say enough about how wonderful and accommodating they were throughout the entire process, which made it easier on me to wrangle while also mourning the loss. From the first time I called Chef Michael to inquire about possibly hosting an event he was incredibly kind, empathetic and straightforward on how to arrange for an event. On the day of the event, the Kimono room was set up and clean, and when we had several unexpected guests, the staff quickly set up an extra table for them and were incredibly kind with impeccable service. The meal was family-style with a variety of things so people could pick and choose what they wanted. I didnt get to eat much of my meal as I was up and down trying to coordinate people, but I did enjoy a delicious croissant type of roll and the pumpkin or squash soup which I thought was delicious.Asit relates to events, they have easels you can use, and microphones for speaking, and the cost to host the event is solely for the food and beverage, there is no cost for the room and you have your own private space for an extended period of time. The chef also came around and spoke to guests during the luncheon which made it feel really special.I also want to call out Brett who was our main host and led the servers during the lunch who was personable, kind, patient, funny and really made the luncheon special.I appreciate the Depot and all they did to support us at this time and would 100% consider hosting another event there in the future (hopefully something unrelated to the loss of a family member.)
Nijiya Market Torrance Store
2121 W 182nd St, Torrance, CA 90504, United States
Smaller, but good market with a big pre-prepared foods section and deli / restaurant. The parking can be hectic during busy times (like lunch) but if you come early or late, its usually fine. It can be very cold inside (especially when the suns not out) so bringing a jacket is probably a good idea.As a smaller market, it has just the essentials, but its more than good enough if all you want is food or cooking ingredients. Theres kind of a deli with a steam tray filled with a lot of fried foods, then a cold section after it with cooler foods on ice. You can also order from the restaurant that shares space with the deli, but not all the food is available until 11:00am.If you come later (after 7:00pm) theres a 50% discount on a lot of the remaining fried foods on the steam trays, but thats because its a small selection of stale foods, honestly.Ive eaten at the Deli / Restaurant often enough to say that while its usually good, that Ive also had some bland tasting stuff (like the Beef Bowl and hot soba) and the Karaage I ordered today tasted off / stale even though it usually tastes fine when I get it from the steam tray area. Today I ordered it from the restaurant as part of a set meal, and everything but the karaage tasted great. The karaage itself tasted like something was stale or bad. Either the oil, the breading, the chicken or maybe something else, but it tasted off and I had to force myself to finish it a little.I also feel like the pre-wrapped onigiri in those little plastic containers are worse than the cheaper ones that have the seaweed packaged separately despite being more expensive. I tend to avoid them now. The tempura shrimp onigiri at the Deli though is AMAZING however, and is one of the best Ive tasted period. One final note is that a lot of the pre-prepared food (if not most) features Akita Komachi rice, which is a kind of regional speciality rice that this Nijiya at least seems to feature in its products. If you want to try it, this is a good place to find it pre-cooked.
Palsaik Korean BBQ
22757 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA 90505, United States
My three daughters and I came here for my youngest daughters bday. When we arrive we were the only customers there, so we were sat quickly and attended to right away. I mentioned to our server Emily that we had never been to a Korean barbecue before and she was more than happy to let us know how it worked and what was our best options for our party size. We ordered the beef combo family meal (not sure if thats the name on the menu) and it had lots of food and filled us up nicely! The kimchi here is mild and amazing, Im so happy its not crazy spicy like other Korean restaurants, and the kimchi soup was perfection! Also worth mentioning, the beef was if very good quality. So maybe within the first 30 mins after we ordered the place became packed! People just started pouring in and they easily had about ten tables to attend to, and it seemed two servers were sharing the floor. The owner also came out to help. They were all very friendly and helpful. The only problem I really had was with one item I ordered. Since we dont eat much pork I decided to only order one strip of pork meat for us to try out and share. After getting our food I reminded one of our servers, she wasnt Emily and I didnt catch her name, that we ordered some pork, she told us no, we only ordered the beef combo. After telling her we did in fact ask for some pork she left our table. I thought she might bring it over, but instead within 15 mins of that she came back to turn off our grill and briskly walked away. By then I knew we were not going to get our pork.If you expect to spend less than $100 to feed a family of four, well you definitely need to go elsewhere. But for the quality and quantity of food you receive here, the prices are very fair. I will definitely come back again when I have some money to spend on a very nice family outting.
Bazille
21500 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503, United States
REVIEW UPDATE (August 2022) - I was unable to come to this restaurant during the Corona period. Now, two years later, I finally came back and since then basically come every other week because it has been so amazing. Every single waitress weve been seated with, and the hostess Tracy, have been kind, attentive, and awesome on all fronts. The menus are all terrific too. I love that there is variety between the normal menu, the brunch menu, and the monthly changing specials. It makes it super fun and exciting because you can keep trying new things. And you know what, most of them have been fantastic!!!For brunch, I highly recommend the Crab Eggs Benedict and the Avocado Toast. For lunch, the Mushroom Ravioli is LITERALLY the best ravioli Ive ever had, and the Margherita Pizza and Ginger Sesame salad with Salmon are excellent. In terms of the monthly specials, every DESSERT Ive had has been live-changingly epic, and the Royal cookies that are a part of the normal dessert menu are next-level too. :)The chef(s) here have it all figured out.--------------------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW -This is a nice restaurant. The servers and staff are usually very friendly and the food is usually very good (their pizza dough, which I have had the pleasure of relishing when I order their bacon and egg pizza, is unmatched). However, the wait time to actually get your food can be a bit long. Also, I feel like the menu has suffered over the years. For example, when the restaurant first opened they had a French Dip sandwich made with prime rib and now its just warm roast beef, which is lack luster. The biggest crime against this restaurant happened when they removed both of their risotto dishes. They used to have an asparagus and shrimp lemon risotto dish and a salmon and mushroom risotto dish. They removed the shrimp dish first and later removed the salmon dish as well. My heart broke partially when this happened. It was a CULINARY CRIME! That was truly exceptional risotto, and on a menu that is otherwise fairly ordinary (salads, sandwiches, etc.) this was a unique standout I came back for many times.ATTN. MANAGEMENT - Bring back risotto!!!
H Mart Torrance
4340 Pacific Coast Hwy, Torrance, CA 90505, United States
I want to give it a higher rating, however the side entrance being the primary entrance to me is a big turn off. If you are ever at this location pay close attention about their main entrance, as typical retail experience - customers will enter from the most obvious and noticeable entrance, which in the case the front of the building. But in the case of this H-Mart, the main entrance is at the side, and multiple temp signs are put up to say the front entrance is an exit only.So from a customer perspective its weird, from a retail experience design point of view I can understand they would like people to start from produce and make their way through each section and lastly leave at checkout and maybe stay a bit at food court. But the side entrance is not obvious and because handicap ramp is at the front, ramp access is double as cart access. At least thats the way I figure, since there were no easy way to push carts without maneuvering around the h-Mart curb obstacle course...One more thing, most of the time people enter and leave from same entrance, exit. Since it is already somewhat confusing where main = side entrance is. When they are about to close at 10 (meaning at 8:30) the front of building (exit only) is already closed... That is 1:30min prior to closing, it really doesnt make sense to shut that part off.Anyways h-mart is a grocery store, so produce price are actually pretty good. Just please expect some curb obstacles and weird entrance from this particular h-martNote self - if I ever have to design a super market never put main entrance hidden visible vantage point, as it is freaking confusing (refer to h-mart Torrance location) as of 6/26/2016

Their karage had good texture and flavor, but nothing robust, impactful, or memorable. The salad is fine, very standard. The place is small so depending on your outlook, you can be annoyed that youre waiting so long to be served. Or, you can find it charming like I did.Definitely a great place to stop by in, but not to totally go out of your way for.Update: the Yamada Tonkatsu is where its at! Rich flavors, meat packed, but easy on the stomach. They staked their name on this bowl and I have to applaud! This is a very small ramen spot right off the freeway in Torrance. The ramen is incredibly tasty, and if there aren't that many people in line, it's a quick and easy spot to grab a meal. I highly recommend their tonkatsu ramen. They do have vegan ramen, and they also offer fresh garlic to press directly into your ramen. Lol.Staff was incredible.Food was incredible.
