Went around 530 with 2 other friends on a sunday. There sometimes is wait or others not. Food comes out pretty quickly. Price of food is really good for the taste and portion size they offer, which I think is the main reason I keep returning to the restaurant. These days, you cant really get this satisfactory meal at this price anywhere near irvine. I really love their Tokyo mazeman. My friend got their tonkotsu ramen, and they said it had a very clean pork taste and was very good (soup was a little salty, but he really enjoyed his meal).

Their grilled cheese, Tomato soup and curried veggies are so good. I was bummed that they stopped serving lentil soup in restaurant since my kid really liked it but you can still by it frozen and heat up at home.

I first discovered this restaurant when I came across some beautiful food pics on instagram. Looked it up and brought one of my best friends here for his birthday dinner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Everything inside looks brand new and is very clean. We sat at the sushi bar, ordered the 8 piece sushi omakase and it was in incredible. Included an appetizer, 8 pieces of sushi, soup, and a dessert. The order the food came out in was perfect. I eat sushi at least 1 to 3 times per month, have taken a sushi making class in Japan, and refuse to settle for mediocre Japanese food. This place is now in my top 3 favorite sushi restaurants in North America of all time. Definitely coming back soon. Here’s the order the food came out in.Amber JackYellowtailBlue fin tunamonk fish liver appetizerStriped JackHakaido Scallop with yuzu juice & truffle saltThreadfin bream (itoyri Snapper)Seaweed salad with beets baked pumpkinK’s especial bowl: Uni, glass shrimp, salmon roe, & caviarSea perchKing salmon from Australia topped with a shiso flowerKama-toro seared topped with truffleNigi Otoro handroll (forgot to take a picture of) but soo good you just close your eyes it’s insanely deliciousClam SoupDesert

Big city or small, Ive never experienced valet for a BAKERY. Bruh. Its a shame that the parking lot for 10 cars is larger than the bakery itself. Says something about society in such a spacious warehouse heavy place. Whether its a small town spot like Bobs Well Los Alamos, or something tight spaced in a big city like Great White Venice or Atelier September in Copenhagen, NY, anything...I agree that you will encounter a sort of wait or line, but I would have preferred a traditional system where you receive a number and wait for a table, or place your name down. The whole two line thing and coffee bar on other side and everyone having to explain to every customer which line is for is a lot of energy that could be placed elsewhere. I didnt like having to strategize and split up the party to get a pastry before they ran out but also wait separately for a table all to have to pay for everything before even trying it or sitting down. Makes the experience feel transactional and rushed when I think going out to a bakery or cafe in general should feel like a relaxing treat. I overheard many other customers I encountered debating and discussing this.Speaking of treat, I didnt think any particular pastry really stood out. Bulle was beautiful, but maybe could have been doughier and sweeter / saltier more balanced. Didnt have the strong cardamom flavor either and its really supposed to be punchy and knock you out. The sourdough ganache cookie ... more like a piece of bread, not dense or moist, kinda dry chalkier, felt like I needed a glass of milk after one bite. Ganache in middle was great. The presentation of the Benedict was beautiful and we were excited about the sausage patty. Was sad to find out that the sausage wasnt super flavorful and if it wasnt there, I dont think it would have made a difference. Wanted more salt. Biscuit was good and texture was nice. Expecting the flavor bomb that sausage usually offers. Was debating taking it home so I could eat it with Maldon and hot sauce or harissa.Service was a great especially female barista and the long-haired young man serving the pastry counter too. Also the server with curly dark hair. Everyone else was being helpful, but I felt the interactions were a little odd. My partner described it as if talking to us like we were children. Felt like way too many rules. I had a few questions for the person seating us and was told things like no but Ill triple check (didnt even single or double check, why triple?) and that if I wanted to order more food for lunch there was a eating limit of 60-90 minutes and if we want to sit outside we cannot go back on our word if we want inside instead. I just abhor a rushed atmosphere and it takes away from the joy of food and being out, especially if youre spending $22 on a Benedict & $8 bacon slice. Spent about $70 total on some pastries, coffee, an entree to share, and the sides. Spending money is fine, but for the whole hullabaloo, I wanted to walk away happier. We left our table super neat and I even said thank you to the owner / manager in a fairly audible / loud level and he didnt hear me or say anything back or look. Speaking of said manager / owner, I asked a few questions about what we ordered and he answered them very matter a fact. We talked about the stuff I wish I could try that werent available and I was hoping for more of a welcoming response about how he hopes we come back at another time to try those items soon. Nothing really. I wouldnt want to put blame on someone who is busy and thinking about so much, but that was an observation Ive seen other restaurant staff do very well even in chaotic circumstances.Overall we are forgiving of the places newness and hope some of these things can be fixed. Aesthetics arent everything and while the space is fresh and beautiful, thats doesnt last if food and service and experience lack. For a brunch place nearby that really does things right and leaves me feeling cared for, happy, satisfied, Id still recommend Toast Kitchen.

Im going back for lunch and so happy to have this wonderful restaurant in our neighborhood. The service was great and we love this authentic Italian eatery right here in Eastside Costa Mesa!
LOTUS BISTRO

If you are craving Pho, Lotus Bistro is THE place to go! They recently moved into this Costa Mesa spot from their old location in Newport Beach. I always order a large #20 (chicken pho) and it is consistently delicious! The broth is perfection and even our vegetarian family members love their veggie soup. Weve had shrimp rolls, chicken wings, calamari, and Vietnamese dumplings as apps before and you really cant go wrong with any of them. The owner and staff are very friendly and have a loyal fan base of regular guests. Will continue to support and definitely recommend to others. Weve tried a lot of pho in Orange County and Lotus Bistro is our favorite! Enjoy!

Well, you guys asked me to give an honest review and unfortunately this time around I am not happy with my order. The only thing I order from there is their Cobb salad, and this time the order was made incorrectly. I'm not sure if it was the person that took my order or if it was the cooks. I had asked for the Cobb salad with 75% greens with no kale and 25% quinoa and I got the total opposite. They gave me 75% quinoa and 25% greens with kale in it! I do not live in the area so whenever I am in Costa Mesa I always make it a point to stop by and pick up my favorite salad from there and this is not the first time that this has happened. The other time I had ordered the salad they did not even put butternut squash in it and that is my favorite part of the salad. I was so disappointed when I got home to see that there was no butternut squash. They give you one little tiny dressing on the side, which is not even enough so I asked for three or four, and they try to charge me extra for it, which I do not think is fair. So that's my honest review for you.
The Plot

We have eaten at the Plot in Oceanside and also the express takeout in Carlsbad many times.. absolutely Love Love it!We were so happy they opened one closer to us at “The Camp” by south coast plaza.Everyone who works here treats you like family! So warm and genuine. It's a small family owned restaurant ALL VEGAN (owners are awesome too) They are happy to explain the dishes and all the care that goes into what you are going to be eating. It is all Plant Based and locally sourced. The Plot is adorable and funky..it's quaint and totally hip… like your eating in a giant tent yert! There is also heated outdoor seating if you have a pet with you too! They have dishes that are Organic, nut free or Gluten Free etc just ask them . There is really something for every taste at the plot. The food is so tasty clean and absolutely beautifully prepared..you can taste the love in every biteWe love the cheezyyy truffle fry's and the Chronic Sushi. The Chix and biscuits is crazy good as well (if you want something a little heavier) but delish. Whatever you order you really can't go wrong here we have enjoyed everything.THE PLOT IS THE PLACE! Totally worth the little hassle of the busy parking lot. Make reservations get there a little early and look at the cute shops nearby because it can get very very busy!
