Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
9253 Firestone Blvd, Downey, CA 90241, United States
I dont know what happened to this restaurant. It used to be good, but it seems like they dont have the same quality of food. Starting with the appetizers, they no longer serve stuff mushrooms! Why not it was so good, and the fried mozzarella sticks were not the same they tasted like they came from a school cafeteria. Not joking. The soup that I usually order is the potato and sausage, and I believe spinach did not have enough potato or sausage, I will not go back. And it makes me wonder if its only the one in the city of Downey ca. Because of the customers, their servings make me wonder ? but I wont go back thats not Atalin food. Thats like Taco Bell too a fine Mexican restaurant.

I had a desire for just soup. Got a small bowl of their chicken noodle. It was good. I just dont care for wise egg noodles. So I wont be ordering it again. Otherwise, service was good, and the restaurant wasnt busy. Would go again.

I arrived and was greeted at the door. They let me sit anywhere. The server came and gave me a menu. She was kind and professional. The cook was a very sweet lady that made sure I was happy. I chose the aguachile. It was tasty. And I had agua de jamaica. The cook asked me if I enjoyed my meal. I told her yes. I was very happy. I highly recommend this place for mariscos.

Great sushi at a great price, clean restaurant with, fast and friendly service. Looked up sushi around and found this place glad to have given it a shot and did not disappoint. Good menu they have appetizers, soups, salads, teriyaki, and sushi. My significant and I went with a chicken teriyaki plate, consisting of chicken teriyaki alongside rice and salad. Very good portion and very good teriyaki flavor chicken was mostly white meat definite plus in my book. For sushi, she got the crunch roll, and I got the spicy tuna tempura. Both rolls were great portions good price and overall tasted amazing, added some soy sauce, ginger, and Sriracha ?. Its not a big space, but I definitely enjoyed a good meal at a great price. Would recommend and will be coming back for more!
Luis Butcher Shop

Stopped here for lunch today and ordered the brisket sandwich and a brisket taco. Ordering is easy inside at the deli station to the right when you walk in. You pay at the cashier and there's a pickup window outside. The sandwich came with tortilla chips and aSalsa plus chipotle sauce. Definitely try a bite of the sandwich on its own because it's packed with flavor. I loved it and am already thinking about having it again next lunch. I might be wrong but seems like the bread is buttered and toasted on cooktop with cheese. So this sandwich is made with cheese toast! I tried the brisket on its own and this meat is delicious. You're going to want to try this brisket sandwich. Do it.The brisket taco is equally delicious and comes with a large serving of brisket. A couple of these tacos and easily make a meal and three will cover you if you're extra hungry.
Portos Bakery and Cafe

I usually go to the Buena Park location, but visited the Downey location today because I was unable to purchase a Yuletide Log online at the Buena Park location. The Downey location was another massive and impressive Portos operation. We came at little after 5am, and it was packed with customers trying to get special treats for Christmas and employees trying to help customers quickly.I was only able to purchase the Yuletide log in Mocha online and hoped that by coming early, I could purchase the Dulce de Leche log as a walk-in customer. I figured they limit how many of each item they should sell online to make items available to customers who walk in and wait in long lines. My gamble paid off, and I was able to purchase the additional Dulce De Leche log after waiting in a long bakery line that moved rather quickly. We purchased some drinks and some Cafe items to enjoy at Portos while we waited for our 5:50am pickup time window to come up. This is where the Downey location became a disappointment to me.We drive up from San Diego, not Northern San Diego County, but close to the border San Diego. Last Christmas we had a dozen individual tartlets and Mango mousse bombs destroyed because they were packaged together and they didnt survive the ride home. Ive since learned to ask Portos to please pack my small items in individual boxes since last Christmas every time I check in to get my pickup order at the Buena Park location. Ive never had a problem with the Buena Park location. They always happily acquiesce to my request when I explain that Im driving my treats back to San Diego and they get destroyed when theyre packed together. The staff always takes the time to package all of my delicate treats for me in the individual boxes and Ive been able to successfully present them to guests ever since I learned how to safely transport my treats since the disastrous Portos Xmas of 2022 event. The worker who checked me in was pleasant and efficient. She smiled and said she understood and made it sound like I would be taken care of when I asked her to box my Mango mousse bombs in individual containers because they crash into each other on car rides back to San Diego when theyre packed together in one box. To my disappointment, I found 4 Mango mousse bombs jammed into one box! In the disastrous Portos Xmas of 2022 event, two Mango mousse bombs were packed together, and they couldnt survive being transported back to San Diego for our Xmas Eve Party. There was no way 4 Mango bombs could survive the drive enact. I was very upset and went to look for a manager and couldnt locate one, so I went back to the online order line to tell them how I asked that my Mango bombs be packed individually, showed the worker how they were packed, and stressed that they will be destroyed on my drive down to San Diego. The worker asked if I wanted to repack them myself. I was surprised at her lack of apologies and care, so I just took the individual boxes to be done with this Portos. This trip to Portos started off great because I was thrilled to be able to buy both Yuletide logs, but this visit became a big upsetting letdown when the staff didnt care to safeguard my treats when I knew what would happen and specifically asked them to please help me make sure I get my treats home safely by simply packaging a few items individually. I think everyone that comes to Portos spends $$$$ big time to make the trip/wait worthwhile, so for employees not to be trained to take extra care packing delicate treats--especially for clients who specifically had previous disasters and ask employees to take extra measures---is shameful.I attached a picture of how 4 Mango mousse bombs were packaged after I had already removed one and repacked it myself in an individual container.
Seor Birria

I'm glad that BBQ place couldn't help me because I found a hole in the wall gem ? @SenorBirriaThis place is located in the corner of a strip mall just outside of LA in #Downey #CAI knew it was promising when I saw a simple menu. The kind of place that specializes in one thing really good. Before I could order I was getting great reviews from their patrons waiting for their orders. In the time I've been here the door has been swinging open and closed with customers not even looking at the menu. I knew this place was gonna be good. The only problem is I have to work my booth tomorrow and can't eat until the morning!! Torture at its finest! They where accommodating and packaged everything separate so I can heat it all up and make the #BirriaTacos in the morning. I also ordered a hard shell too for a #TacoDoradoI couldn't wait, it smells so good! So I had to do some criminal activity and chew on a sample of everything and spit it out.. I can't have anything in my system or I'll be spastic at my booth tomorrow.. I was right it's a gem ? the meat melts almost like a slow cooked beef tongue melts. Very tender and the flavors are on point. The salsa is on point too. It has a spicy kick but it's subtle enough to taste the flavor of the dried chilies ? they used. Red onions and cilantro is a first that I've seen in a restaurant. I've done it at home before. It works here perfect. When you combine it all into a bite they become a separate flavor on its own. I haven't even added the home made tortilla yet.Breakfast is going to be good tomorrow.. you'll have to wait for those pics..Good Night Everyoneenjoy your evening.#MaximilianoUllork #Ullork#ExploringWithoutLimitations#Birria#USAtacoTour #USA ?? #USAPJJ #PJJmag #AdaptiveAthlete #JiuJitsuLifestyle #WithoutLimitations#VanLife #RoadTrip

Excellent service, all the staff is very friendly but, except for the people who make the coffee in the batista area, they are not very good and also the people who give the food, I normally order a lot and this last visit I had a problem with my order For food I was waiting almost 40 minutes, which had never happened in my visits. I had to ask what was going on and they had finished the rice. One of the girls who gave the food offered to speak to a manager. The manager immediately solved the problem and apologized very gentlemanly. mind and a half a discount but thats not why I give them 5 stars but for the good handling of the problem I dont remember the name of the manager he was very professional thank you very much we will see you soon and I clearly recommend this bakery
Chick-fil-A

The restaurant is very clean and has some personal touches such as fresh flowers at every table. Ive been a customer at the Buena Park store for about 3 years. Now that it opened in Downey, I gave drive thru a try and loved the quick service once a week for last 6 months).I decided to come in and actually sit down for once. I gave the cashier my free breakfast sandwich card...she seemed annoyed. ?I explained it was my FIRST time inside, ordered a coffee w my free breakfast sandwich (which she still was about to charge me for), and asked: are there refills here or just at the other locations. Once again, she seemed annoyed. She said yes.I looked around for sugar, cream and the likes(first time inside), another employee(on her break) pointed out location of items.I washed my hands in the restroom...sandwich was at my table already (QUICK SERVICE!!!).Tables, floor, walls, windows, etc. all seemed as if they are cleaned VERY regularly! ☺Overall, Im happy with experience at both locations...just not happy with THAT particular employee. ?...maybe she was having a bad morning already. ?
