Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
1107 W Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
Our first visit to this Olive Garden location turned out OK.This restaurant is just off highway I-15 in Escondido. Our Waze-GPS got us close but had us going in circles when it didnt notify us as we went past the location. Instead, it told us to turn around and then turn left, turn right, turn left. Waze doesnt recognize the site because access to the parking lots is off the connecting street between Auto Parkway and Valley Parkway.Turning off Waze while we began looking along the odd number side of the Valley Pkwy slowly turned around a small distance from the parking entrance. As we emerged from under I-15 for the second time, we looked up high on the hill at a large build right near the highway to see the Olive Garden sign.To get into the Olive Gardens parking lot on the odd number side of the Pkwy, a road that connects the Valley Parkway with Auto Mall Pkwy hides the entrance. Turning right on that road climbs the hill and exposes the Olive Gardens parking area.As we walked to the entrance, a lady with a small digital pad takes our name and phone number and reports we are #8 on the list, and the wait will be 15 to 20 minutes.Eight minutes on the bench near the entrance, our cell phone rings with a message to enter. The entry area is large, and it connects to large dining areas. Two tables are blocked tables between each guest table. Our waiter arrives quickly with menus and offers to get drinks. We take menus and ask for water. When the water returns, we are ready to order the All You Can Eat soup and salad option. Olive Gardens salads are my favorite because I like their dressing, and you can get salad refills. Our meal arrives in about 8 minutes. There is a large bowl of salad with their famous dressing, two tasty soups, and four wrapped breadsticks. This meal option is easy to eat. Olive Gardens salad is always a good choice. In addition, our menu selection allows refillable soup. This place took more time to find than we liked, but it is worth another visit now we wont need to make so many circles near the restaurant.
Panera Bread
1286 Auto Park Way, Escondido, CA 92029, United States
All bad. Lets start with the sub par order we placed for rapid pickup.Soup: We ordered soup advertised to be for 4 people. We received 2 cups of soup with a loaf of bread so false advertising on the portions. They were also out of the soup we ordered and our hot sandwiches went cold waiting for the replacement.Sandwiches: Both sorely lacking substance. There was nearly nothing between the bread for either.Grilled Cheese: Ordered a full sandwich and only received half. Sorely lacking cheese. The bread was cold and chewy. The sandwich was not grilled or toasted. Im convinced it was heated in the microwave based on the texture.Caprese: Consisted of bread soggy with balsamic, one sliced cherry tomato, two basil leaves, and what appeared to be shredded mozzarella. Now lets get into the customer service. I should start with the staff was wonderful, it was the manager who should be ashamed of himself. So it was my wife who went and picked up the order because shes awesome and I wasnt feeling well. I was disturbed to hear her story when she got back. Upon pickup there was a note saying to see the manager. When she did she was notified that they were out of the selected soup and she chose another. She tried to notify him of the missing half sandwich and without letting her finish her sentence the manager turned and walked away. The staff noticed this and fixed it straight away while the manager was in the back. The manager returned with the subbed soup and walked away. After a couple minutes waiting for the other half grilled cheese the guy shouts snarkily across the restaurant What? Are you waiting for something else?.So, after all this we returned our order only to find the manager having a completely different tone seemingly because I went with. Its pathetic that you need a big strong man with you to be treated with general courtesy at this Panera. To ice this cake, since we ordered online for pickup the guy couldnt process our refund through the cash register. We were assured that the refund for the returned food would be issued the same day once the online system closed for the day. This happened on Sunday, now its Tuesday and we still havent gotten our money back for this (it doesnt look like Ill be getting my money back at all at this point). We nearly left without our bank card because the manager pocketed it after trying to issue the refund at the register. In summary, this experience was garbage and Im quite unhappy with the products and services or lack there of that this establishment offers.

One of the best experiences Ive ever had. Were always treated with courtesy and never have been turned down. Look for Nick, hes the best, although everyone else is very kind. And yes, food I wonderful. Have been there a couple of times and will return.-----------We promised to.come back and here we are outside the restaurant but this time we were treated different, we requested sake table as usual and I also requested to speak to Nick whos always been helpful but this time they didnt even let me talk to him stating he was on the clock. I stated theyve always been helpful with sitting us at a certain area and this time they refused, the guy who called the shot said he was the manager... The whole thing was now the opposite as the previous 7 visits. U head to sneak through the other door to tell Nick I appreciated his work but we werent treated right, he apologized and I could tell by his response he could do nothing thus time, I told him I was sorry but was never coming back to this particular restaurant.Whoever reads this posts know that managers like this ruins businesses. Super disappointed and we drove 20 miles for nothing.

Hajime Ramen

Amazing food at unbelievable price. If you dont eat pork like me, you never feel completely welcome at a ramen restaurant. So when I learned theres a 100% chicken ramen place I just had to try it out, and I was blown away. What an amazing bowl of ramen. And for $12 only???? It was better than the ramen Ive paid $16-17 for at places like Tajima and Nishiki. Fantastic noodles (hand-made according to the owner). Perfect egg. Im actually worried theyll go out of business if they keep selling at such a low price. Its so good I ate 1 bowl there and ordered 1 more to go.The business is actually the owners house. Apparently this is legal now by some new law?!? Its take-out only but the owner said I could sit on their patio and eat if I take my trash with me. Its quite a unique experience. Highly recommended!!! Try this before they run out of business ***i really hope not***
Smoked and Tasty
138 W Grand Ave, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
Smoked and Tasty at 138 W. Grand in downtown Escondido was our lunch spot today. Situated on a block that hasn't been kind to unique food joints, let alone any restaurant, this gem brings flavor in spades. You will love the aroma of the shop and their sandwiches were amazing. She had the lox on a plain bagel. Fresh smoked salmon with a delicious cream cheese made in house. I devoured the chicken on a jalapeño bagel. Smoked to perfection, covered in a bold pesto and cheese. We will be back and you should stop at this small business and give them some love so we can keep great places like this downtown. #escondido #food #foodie #sandiegofood #escondidofoodies #lunch #eat #smokedmeat @smokedandtasty
Pacifica Senior Living Escondido
1351 E Washington Ave, Escondido, CA 92027, United States
My 72-year-old mother has resided at Pacifica Senior Living in Escondido for more than five years and I must say that choosing this facility was the best & hardest decision my sister and I have ever made. At first, mom was reluctant to give up her apartment and live among strangers. She thought she was letting go of her freedom but this was far from the truth. We simply needed for someone to monitor her daily medications, prepare healthy meals and do light housecleaning. Mom could no longer do these simple tasks on her own and we were not able to provide the proper supervision. Walking into Pacifica is like walking into a warm-home like environment with many common areas that foster friendship and socialization. There are big comfy chairs, large TVs, a popcorn machine, a hair salon, a chapel, a lil store for necessities, a game room, planting boxes, and lots of outdoor seating with views of the manicured roses. The roses are my favorite. The front desk manager has answered the phone for years and seems to know the coming and going of every resident. No matter when I call, she tells me immediately how my mom is doing and where she is whether it is the dining room, vising with friends or taking a nap. When walking the hallway with my mom, the residents all seem to know her name. My mom feels popular. Residents share tips on the newest walkers & wheelchairs, who the new guy is, and pet the heads of the little dogs following behind. The cleaning staff is wonderful. They seem to have built a special bond with my mom and know exactly how she likes to keep her things. They close the door quickly so my moms cat doesnt get out. On occasion, mom has asked to call me back because she has a friend over (the cleaning staff). The same is said for the nurses at Pacifica. Medications are provided several times per day by medical professionals. When we take mom away for the weekend, the nurse will pack a bag of her daily pills and instructions on time to take and if food is required. Speaking of food, the meals at Pacifica are terrific, nutritious and plentiful. When grandkids are visiting, the kitchen has made quesadillas, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, chicken noodle soup, or a second helping of dessert on request. We all leave the table full, including those picky teenagers. Guests are always welcome and the grandkids love to visit. They say the place smells normal, not like old people, and theres always lots of food and lots of stuff to do. The calendar is posted with the daily activities including field trips, bingo, movie night, etc. The kids like the WII bowling. Due to the great leadership of Pacifica management, my mom has felt safe and independent. With the managers focus on love and hospitality, my sister and I feel a big sense of relief knowing mom is happy. We recently asked mom if she would like to come live with us and she said, “No thanks honey, I would miss my friends too much.” Thank you, Jackie and staff, for creating a home environment and loving the residents like family!
Meadows Deli Market
27980 Oak Ranch Rd, Escondido, CA 92026, United States
Great sandwiches and solid coffee. We popped in to the area to check out the brand new pinball place in the same parking lot. We both grabbed sandwiches and both of them were great. The young lady who helped us with our sandwiches also was pulling double duty at the coffee place inside the same store lolIt also had a bunch of convenience store items. Cat food and beer and exactly what you would expect. The sandwich was great in the avocado in both of our sandwiches was fresh. The coffee was very solid. I got the Mexican mocha which was well made. All staff was very nice to my kids as well. The outside seating was wet from the rain and they still wiped it down and dried it off for us all to find a place to sit. Would absolutely come again.

10 stars for sure! Smells like my memier’s kitchen. Went for soup but got delicious artichoke, tomato quiche baked to perfection. Very charming, quaint and simply perfect. Charming service, as well.Today 2/20/2023 it was Tuscan Chicken Salad. Likely gets very busy during meal hours but so worth it! Best little gem I’ve experienced yet, but so worth every second & every crumb. My favorite little homestyle restaurant Ever, so please don’t come here. They’re too busy for YOU. Quiche took nearly 17 minutes because they reheat to perfection, consistent, even temperature in an actual oven. Likely, NEVER NUKED, no microwave ?Salad was as fresh as fresh can be. So Good.
EscoGelato

Ive been coming to this location once in a while ever since it was Blue Mug Coffee & Tea (2002). Among locals, its a very popular place, with great memories of making new friends, having casual business meetings, going for coffee after downtown events, catching up on the latest community chat or just relaxing with the newspaper and/or a loved one on the weekend. With its wide-open entrance, its fun watching the world go by on the sidewalk or side street. Years ago, I used to grab coffee there on the way to work. More recently, I've had lunch a few times. On my first occasion back in years, I had a little time to relax on the tree-shaded patio before my tomato bisque and mediterranean salad arrived. Slowing down really made me savor the food. Thats so important for being able to experience the individual aspects of a meal and what went into the preparation. The texture and subtle herbal flavors of the soup were divine. The artisanal bread was crunchy and delicious. The salad dressing was so fresh and tangy. When I expressed my appreciation, my server told me the details of how they made the meal. I was so impressed. She was clearly someone who loves food, ingredients and the work. Thats so important for any establishment. It shows in the final product. The staff were all very hard at work. For patrons, the nice aspect of slowing down is getting to chat with each other on the patio. So, the name of this place may have changed but the vibe remains. Continuity is comforting. The gelato is fabulous. So is their Cali Caprese. Shoppers might consider this place for quality gifts, e.g. wine, jewelry and goats milk lotion. It's great to stroll around town afterwards to check out the murals, stores, farmers' market, library, etc.
