Las Margaritas Restaurant

Im not really into eating Mexican food. IF I do its mainly soups/caldos like pozole, menudo, albondigas, de rez, de pollo. Even then I have had some bad soups/caldos. I have not eaten at one good Mexican place that has wowed me. Aside from my family that comes to visit from Mexicali or my late beloved grama nothing else compares. Until today...at this restaurant. The chilaquiles blew me away! The chile verde is flavorful and tasty. The guacamole is good and looks freshly prepared. The chips taste fresh and crispy. The chiles rellenos were delicious. The waitress was very nice and attentive. If youre looking for a good, tasty and delicious Mexican food place come here.

Used to be very reasonable and quality restaurant but the prices are up and the quality down. Last few soup options tasted like they came from a can. Very typical transition as a chain grows and profits became the focus. Too bad.

My sisters pork chashu meat in the raman was spoiled. I smelled it too so did my our mom and we agreed it smelled like spoiled rotton meat. Never did my meat smell rotton with previous visits to this restaurant. My sister informed the waiter and the manager came, and instead of removing the raman soup from the bill or trying to fix the problem, he agrued that the meat was fine and tried to explain to my sister how pork meat should smell and that it was fine. A person knows when something smelles rotton!! So disappointing. If my six year nephew is also telling his mom the meat stinks, what does that say!We will never come here again, any restaurant would apologize and give your money back with no hesitation to a customer! Beware of food poisoning at this restaurant. The customer should always be right but at this restaurant youre wrong!
Kebab G Stop

We stopped here because we were in the mood for some Mediterranean food on our way home. Our usual place was a bit out of the way of our route, so we stopped here instead. We didnt look it up or read reviews beforehand, so we werent sure what to expect. We ordered chicken kebabs and beef shawarma, along with some pita bread and tzaziki. We were not at all disappointed. The food was amazing, and the owners were very friendly and welcoming. I dont usually leave reviews for restaurants, but I felt the need to do so for this place. Theyve only been there a few months, so they dont have many reviews yet, but based on our experience Im sure this will be a popular stop in the months and years to come. I know well definitely be stopping there again!
Cafe Gazelle

Ladies and Gentlemen,I first ate at this restaurant in 1999. I have been back several times since, been very pleased and not fell ill. However, early this year I left the restaurant and attempted to walk back to my hotel near Redondo Ave. and PCH. Before I reached 7th St., the urge to relieve my bowels of diarrhea was overwhelming, so I found bushes and defecated. Moving on, I only got as far as just south of Anaheim Ave and went into the bushes again. I notified management the next day by returning the uneaten leftovers and leaving a note on the businesss front door. He compensated me with a free meal, and I experienced no ill effects. The next time I went, unfortunately, I was able to make it back to my hotel room before suffering from diarrhea again. It was the same story tonight, though unlike the other times, I DID NOT FINISH MY BOTTLE OF WINE, EAT DESSERT OR CONSUME THREE CUPS OF BLACK COFFEE. Yet, I barely made it home before running to the toilet. Management keeps the establishment fairly warm, I am uncertain how food is stored or handled, but I am concerned about the frequency in which I became ill. I eat all over the country with all kinds of cuisine. I prefer spicy food, I drink routinely and am fine.My repeated illness here can be no coincidence, and I am certain that management would rather I not return, as was apparent tonight. It appears that despite what I thought was an amicable resolution between me and the owner that let bygones be bygones, he harbored resentment that was unleashed upon me. Specifically, I ordered chocolate mousse and black coffee but expressly directed the owner to serve it AFTER I had consumed the last of my wine. Instead, the mousse was brought out to me IMMEDIATELY after our exchange. I sent it back and motioned for the owner to come speak to me again. He came to me enraged and said, Youre making trouble again and acting crazy. How would you like it if I 86ed you? I finished the glass in my wine, paid the bill, walked out and hurried home to used the toilet...again. I notified the Long Beach Health Department about my recurring sickness from eating here. The food tastes wonderful and the service used to be great, but may I respectfully suggest that food borne illness is no laughing matter, and the fact that it happens repeatedly in one restaurant shouldnt be ignored. If the owner here reacts angrily because a patrons clearly expressed preferences are not followed, then, despite an agreeable history that has become a thing of the past, one is better served taking ones business elsewhere.Thank you.
Taste of Asia

Sat down for lunch and ordered to go as well. The lunch special portion was disappointingly small. I ordered the eggplant stirfry and was informed that it would not come with a meat. I thought that was OK since eggplant, properly treated, is quite substantial and a good substitute for meat in a dish. Unfortunately, my dish came out with probably 6 pieces of eggplant (1x0.5x0.5 inch post cooking) and some other assorted veggies that had been finely julienned. In other words, I got barely any real food. The only plus side was that the spice level was there - I ordered medium. The to-go (a la carte) food portions were better but not generous compared to most Thai takeouts. Flavors were acceptable but I can have as good or better almost anywhere else. Nicer ambience than most thai restaurants but the poor experience with the lunch will keep me from coming back again.
Tho One Thai Eatery

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. They had just a great seafood soup, but unfortunately I am a delivery driver and lately this is a restaurant where you feel like a person not worthy of being in this temple of food. If you are a delivery driver, so they don’t greet you, they turn their backs, they don’t say goodbye, they are rude and show arrogance and disdain with their entire appearance and behavior. Therefore, as a client, I will not go to this restaurant again and will not order anything from them.

So yes definitely a good stop for carne asada burrito and carnitas tacos. Green salsa was bomb I didnt try red but momma says it was ok.
New China Mongolian BBQ
2418 Foothill Blvd, La Verne, CA 91750, United States
This place is legit. If you can't decide between Chinese and Mongolian BBQ, this is a must stop. They do both very well. Food all around was good to excellent, if you think off self service fast food for both. Place was super clean and busy at 8pm on a weeknight, so everything still looked fresh.I tried a little bit of everything, but Mongolian was the stand out. They do charge by the lb so go slow, you can always order more. You will see that we went all in :) about $50 worth ???I even tried the hot and sour soup that was made fresh for only $8.99. Only wish they had the option for single serving, since it was just for me. Oh well, leftovers for the weekend. So why only 4 stars? To be honest, if I only go back for Mongolian BBQ, others do it better. They only had garlic water and hot sauce for seasoning. They will add teriyaki while they cook if asked, but some others have various combinations to suit different preferences. Will I go back if I can't decide between fast food Chinese and Mongolian? Hell yes!
Robertas Village Inn
2326 D St, La Verne, CA 91750, United States
I can't believe I never knew this little diner even existed and I have lived in La Verne for over 25 years. Roberta's is a classic old school diner with decor to match. It's that classic Coca Cola look, old cash register, pay phone on the wall, **CASH ONLY** ( ATM machine available inside ) back to the basics feel.Great food and large portions. The menu has a nice selection of comfort like foods. I am looking forward to trying something outside of the breakfast menu!FYI- breakfast burritos is HUGE! Be prepared! You can feel the family owned vibe inside! All three times I've been there the service was excellent! Probably some of the best in town. Not only are they friendly, they know their stuff. And you never have to worry about flagging down a server for anything. They are on top of it!This is a great example of how the service should be everywhere you go.I was unsure of what to order because none of the breakfast combinations included all the items I wanted. At least not without being complicated. The waitress kindly asked me what all the items were, then told me what to order. She had combined one order, and added one side to it, in order to give me the lowest price possible for everything I wanted. It was awesome! She was hands down the best server/waitress I've ever had!So when your passing thru La Verne I recommend giving Roberta's a try! You won't be disappointed!**I couldn't find a menu online so I included a few pix of the breakfast section**
