House of the Rising Buns
950 Price St, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States
The owner Bobby is a true class act. Hes very personable and genuinely cares about giving his customers quality food and service. He makes everything from scratch, and I mean EVERYTHING! It starts with the bread obviously, but he also smokes his own meats, ferments his own hot sauce and makes homemade tomato soup (which is fantastic).I am a Pismo local and I really appreciate a good restaurant as they are few and far between in this area. This place will be your new favorite hole in the wall!

What a wonderful restaurant - great vibes, nice folks, and delicious food.We came by (with a reservation) for a special occasion and ordered salmon poke tacos to start, scallops and cod for the main, and ended with a surprise dessert.Thoroughly enjoyed the poke tacos - crispy and well seasoned. Both the mains were killer. The cod comes with a side of fried rice and was recommended to dunk spoonfuls of rice in the soup for a tastier bite. Scallops were a bit on the saltier end but it balanced out with the rice - having it alone might be a bit too much. Finally, the dessert we got wasnt on the menu (possibly reserved for special occasions?). It was a miso caramel basket with a scoop of smooth ice cream. Very tasty, shame its not always on the menu.
Brooks Burgers Pismo Beach
220 5 Cities Dr, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States
(Updated 2022 - one star) uh oh. My bad. I made the mistake of thinking to give Brooks a new chance. I did not even try to call and went to go in. When I ordered to go I saw they now added a 3.50% take out fee. So on top of the expensive burgers you want to go full tourist trap and edge out as much from the customers they can. Why not just increase the price more? Regardless of this no real change in lack of customer service and the burgers just seemed a bit bland. Will stick with my original decision to support other local burger places that focus on the Custer and food. Sad.(Updated) I tried to give them a third chance and their website was broken, no one answering the phone (and voicemail full), and no way to order food. Moving on.TL:DR(Updated) Ok burgers. Changes in policy make it hard to order over the phone and can't pay onsite. Disappointed in changes to policy, decaying customer service, and lots of local options.——We have been customers here from when they opened. Recently they have gotten much busier and have drastically changed how they take orders and payment options. In the past I have called the business and ordered order the phone. They had been very responsive and always felt like they cared about their customers.First, I order from a lot of local restaurants and understand the challenges with recent changes to distancing and safety procedures. This has nothing to do with those types of challenges. The last two times when driving I tried to order. They very strongly tried to discourage me from ordering over the phone (and wanted me to use their online ordering). When I asked multiple times they finally let me order. Why so hard? If they are going to answer the phone then take orders. If not just have automated answer say you have to order online.Secondly, they no longer let you pay in person (if order over the phone) either in cash or credit card. So they would rather you just come order in person and pay there but now you have to wait in person with other people (seems like defeating the purpose of safety was a variable). So I had to pull over and get out a credit card to order. The employees did not seem to care and I did try to talk with a manager on duty. Seems that is a new policy by the owner.——All in all. Ok burgers, pain to order, ok to low customer service. No real reasons to return. Lots of good burger restaurants around.
Shore Cliff Hotel
2555 Price St, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States
The prosAmazing 2 bedroom suite with 3 beds, a great livingroom 4 bottles of complimentary water, real silverware and dishes. Kurig -(They say they have Seattles best coffee kcups- no. Its the bed bath and beyond junk so bring your own) 3 sinks, a big fridge/freezer, and best of all- 2 balconies. One was off the living room and the view was the pool and ocean. The second was accessed thru sliding glass doors in both rooms that showed the whole ocean view- because we werent on the first floor we left the doors open a bit to listen to the waves all night.Full length mirror in the hallway, 1 mirror and 1 magnifying mirror outside of bathroom. The breakfast was basic fair, waffles, fruit, fruit cups...nothing to write home about, but it was ok.Meandering walking paths interspersed with flowering plants with a gazebo on the Cliffside was beautiful and relaxing.Another small nice convenience was Ivy, the text messager automated helper- you text her with requests and housekeeping will deliver them.I have to tell you the restaurant next door, Ventana Grill, was delightful! Pork chop, burritos, and killer fish and chips - so take advantage of it being so close. The cons. They dont tell you the gym and hot tub are closed down. I wish they would because I would have looked elsewhere to stay- nothing on their website at all about it. Dont tell me you have the amenities then when I show up have them closed off. Then there is the old bathroom. Its small but was functional so ?. The rest of rooms look decently remodeled- just not the small bathroom. The thin walls! The neighbors were fighting, above us the kids were running and thumping, below us a baby was crying. Thankfully almost all of it was during daylight hours.Nice mattresses, I slept good, my child didnt, and BFF slept amazing - so it could go either way, but the pillows were abundant and great. The air/heater - it was those mounted window units that they had in each room- built into the wall- the one in the room with two beds was obnoxiously loud, glad we didnt need heat or air all night. The price. While I think we got it for a decent amount (670ish plus 100 deposit) the night before was only 300, so I do wish the price was a bit better. All in all It was nice. It was a massive room with awesome stuff. I will be coming back when hot tub is open, for sure. The view was great. 100 in my eyes -so relaxing.
Depalo & Sons

When I order a HOT meatball sandwich, I want that meatball sandwich to be HOT, not barely tepid. One of your staff tried to pass off a very cold meatball sandwich as hot. When I took the order back to have him actually make this sandwich hot, he tried to give me a load of excuses. Then He proceeded with the old go through the motions routine pretending to heat it up and when we found it was still cold. I dont know if it was because your food heaters arent working or if maybe your staffer decided that even though My husband and I pay the same price as everyone else, were not worthy of anything better than a barely tepid meatball sandwich. My husband is generous enough to heap lots of lavish praise to everyone when we come here for a meal. Are we wasting our generosity.
Ynot Organic
897 N Oak Park Blvd, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States
This gem is a green as the lettuce. Tucked away in the nooks of the Central Coast is this dope all organic and vegan cafe. Whipping up homemade ice cream, coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, soups and more. My friends and I had just came from parlaying at Cal-Poly and one of them recommended this place as she dined here prior with and only said great things..It took me a while to glance over their extensive menu, there were many good options. All guilt free of course, so it was hard to choose. I ultimately decided to order the California BLTA and it came with a side, I chose roasted potatoes (not pictured) My friend ordered one of their specials, the stuffed avocado which honestly stole the show on presentation alone. Filled with quinoa, laid on a puddle of jalapeño aioli topped with grape tomatoes and sweet potato and garnished with pumpkin seeds…BRUH…this is the meaning of food is life. It tastes good and is good for you. It was lightly seasoned and refreshing. The aioli wasn't overbearing and the avocado was firm enough to hold its shape when cut by our spoons, but not under ripe..I highly suggest and recommend eating here. Service was friendly and accommodating. The staff greets every person that comes through the door, they are quick to resolve any requests and we even got to meet the executive chef/owner and he gave us free chocolate chip cookies. 10/10 experience and will definitely dine here again..The second time I dined here I got the street tacos & a cup of the lentil soup. Both were divine. As always the presentation is intricate & inviting and the flavors were warm and the tacos assumed the taste of meat minus the guilt. They were mini corn tortillas, with the first layer being crumbles of chorizo tempeh in a brown sauce, avocado lime crema, radishes & garnished with micro greens. It also came with a side of beans. My cronies wanted dessert & ordered one order of each of their ice cream flavors: pistachio, vanilla bean and chocolate I hardly had space after such a hearty healthy entree, but ate as much vegan ice cream as I could since being lactose intolerant has deprived me of the tasty treat for some time. I can't rave about this place enough. Definitely a must visit for vegetarians and vegans alike or anyone with an open mind and open palette.
Hapy Bistro

Such a nice and cozy place. Taste was top notch. We ordered falafel hummus pita and lentil soup with fries. Hummus was so delicious. Soup was tasty and falafel was extra ordinary. You get a great view from restaurant too. Food was super fresh and everything made in house. Staff is very helpful. I recommend this place for solo as well as group dining.
Giuseppes Cucina Italiana
891 Price St, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States
A few months ago we had an incredible experience and great food at Giuseppies in Pismo and I gave them a 5 star rating. It can be read below.Went again last night (we are local) and the experience was awful. Upon arrival just before 5pm the restaurant was almost empty. They do not accept reservations. Because the other couple joining us was not present we were told we would not be seated until they arrived. I am 70 and my husband is 80. I am also disabled and have a knee replacement. I told the receptionist I found the policy very unwelcoming. She got the manager. He restated the policy but because I had a swollen foot he was willing to seat us in a back room that has cramped booths and a few tables that were occupied. There is also a small low bench for 2. With knee problems it is difficult and painful to maneuver into a tight booth or down and back up from a low bench...but those were the options. I resisted hoping our friends would arrive soon. While I stood in front of the reception stand the young receptionist told her coworker I was a witch or a b...tch. I am old but I have pretty good hearing. I told her I heard the remark and she was very unkind. I asked to speak to the manager again and took the seat in the back room. We had to ask for menus. Maybe I am a witch or maybe it is just the season...once seated a large black spider dropped from the ceiling onto our table...our friends arrived and tried to shoo the spider (see picture below). Because my friend fears spiders we had to move. We were seated in the bar which is incedibly noisy and had to yell to each other through out dinner. All that for $140.00 for 4 people. I told the manager I understand the impact of flipping tables quickly to maximize profits...but there has to be a customer service aspect to profits....and what about the appetizer and or drink we might order while waiting.A better greeting (especially for elderly customers) would be ...if part of your party is missing would you like to wait for them or be seated now. To the immature receptionist... if I truly am a witch I curse you with two bad knees, two bad ankles...and painful arthritis mixed with disrespect in your old age. Giuseppies earned 2 stars last night because the food was wonderful as always.Had the best dinner and desert at Giuseppes tonight. We have not been to Giuseppes for awhile and we are locals! The fire and the wait got in the way. Well we are going back again soon. Had the Lovers Plate which is 4 prawns, butternut squash ravioli, and sauteed squash. For desert the carrot cake made with marscapone is amazing.
Zorros Cafe & Cantina
927 Shell Beach Rd, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, United States
My wife and I have been visiting Zorro's for years and their food never disappoints. We typically visit for breakfast and for some time now I have been working my way through their Special Mexican Breakfasts. Two days ago I was finally able to say I've tried each an every item. Every entree was excellent and there were times I repeated an entree just because it was so good. Those include the El Camino Real Enchilada Omelet, the Ridge Chile Relleno and Eggs and the Homemade Tamale and Eggs (Chile and Cheese Tamale). The last holdout on my quest to try them all was the Marco Machaca and Eggs. I was reluctant but I needed to pull the trigger and get it done so I chose the shredded beef and asked that my eggs be fried on top of the meat instead of scrambled in it. Holy cow, this was amazing! It probably takes the win in comparison to all the other entrees and honestly I didn't think anything could beat the El Camino Real Enchilada Omelet. The down side to highly rating one of your favorite restaurants is the chance they'll become busier but Zorro's is deserving of high praise even if it means waiting a bit next time we visit. Their staff if friendly and attentive and their prices are very fair.
