I recently visited Las Katrinas and I must say I was impressed with the dining experience I had. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel at home.Las Katrinas specialty is burritos, quesabirrias and molcajetes, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint me at all. The burritos were simply delicious. They were generously filled with fresh, flavorful ingredients, and the flavor was authentic and satisfying. Each bite was an explosion of flavors that transported me directly to Mexico. However, what really captivated me was the quesabirria. This dish is a perfect combination of a burrito and a quesadilla filled with juicy meat and melted cheese. The outside was perfectly browned and crispy, while the inside was tender and full of flavor. I cant express how delicious it was. It is definitely a must-try in Las Katrinas. Also, I cant fail to mention the molcajetes. These traditional Mexican dishes presented in an authentic stone molcajete were impressive. They were filled with tender meat, spicy sauce, beans, guacamole and melted cheese. Each spoonful was a perfect combination of textures and flavors, and the molcajete added a special touch to the presentation. The service at Las Katrinas was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes they offered. They helped me choose the dishes that best suited my preferences and were willing to answer all my questions. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant has charming decor that reflects Mexican culture. Soft background music and dim lighting create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet meal or a gathering with friends and family. In short, if you are looking for an authentic and tasty culinary experience, I highly recommend you visit Las Katrinas. The burritos, quesabirrias and molcajetes are simply delicious and the atmosphere will make you feel like you are in Mexico. You wont regret trying their exquisite dishes!
A One Kitchen & Bar
677 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
What a wonderful find here in San Bruno. Service was excellent and food was wonderful. A mix of Southeast Asian cuisine - from Malaysian to Thai to Chinese - this restaurant a little bit of everything. Start off with a soup - their wonton soup is hearty and full of umami. Follow with some black pepper beef - tender and full of vitality. We had the garlic crab like others - definitely worth it - be ready to get your hands dirty - dont worry they provide enough towels for you. Dont forget to finish off with some mango sticky rice. Highly recommended.
Pahk Soi Restaurant
310 Poplar Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
10/2020- 3/5* Open 3 days a week (Fri-Sun). Make sure to check your order carefully as we ordered basil pork but received pork stew which was too sweet and just 3 pieces pork. $10 per entree. 9/2019- 5/5* Found a hidden gem at a small local that Buddhist temple! Only on Sundays theres a small kitchen that turns out some affordable authentic Thai dishes ($7) such as pad see ewe, pad Thai, basil with ground pork or chicken, fried rice, omelette over rice, fried garlic pork chop, a variety of curries ($7), fried chicken ($8), sweet fried bananas, and an assortment of sweets ($3) and at times Hainan chicken rice. All dishes are available until sold out. Sometimes theyre open earlier than 930 as dishes are ready but theyre is no definite time. You buy food using tokens from the lady in the back but you can also get refunded for any unused tokens. The noodle soups (beef coat style or ground pork with fish balls) are really good ($8)! The place gets pretty busy by 11am including the small parking lot.
Lotus Falafel and Shawerma-SAN BRUNO

Good shawarmas, the place gets busy at times, the parking is hard to get but you will find free parking in the parking area behind the restaurant. The Lamb Shawarma I had was nice and warm and the meat had the right amount of spice, I liked the lentil soup even know it was a bit watery.
San Bruno City Park
251 City Park Way, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Great park. Theres a lower area and an upper area, separated by a road and a creek. The lower area can either be accessed via the main entrance on Crystal Springs or you can follow one of the two trails in from the neighborhoods above. The Crystal Springs side has BBQ areas and a childrens playground right near the entrance with sand pits and play structures. Beyond that is a baseball field that opens onto a larger grassy field with tennis courts at the other end. The baseball field frequently in use for Little League, but when its empty, it often makes a good place to observe cedar waxwings.Overall, the lower area of the park is nicely scaped with lots of trees and walking paths.Theres a lot of construction going in the upper area across the road right now. They are putting in a new recreation center. Unfortunately, they have torn out the gazebo and a good deal of the area on that side is inaccessible for the moment. However, if you make your way past, there are a couple of open fields, including a second sports field. The uppermost field also has a covered area with picnic tables.Dogs are allowed on-leash in the park, but be advised that you will sometimes see folks facilitating off-leash play beyond the baseball field and more frequently in the smaller fields of the upper area of the park.If you continue up past those fields, San Bruno City Park bleeds into Junipero Serra State Park, with trails leading up into the state park.Dont forget that in addition to the obvious parking near the main entrance, you can drive through and hang a right at the far end to find more parking above by the uppermost field, near the boundary between the two parks. Or you can continue up Crystal Springs and park at the top by the senior center and follow one of the paths down. That senior center parking lot is also a great place to observe bats at dusk!
Roma Deli
424 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
One of my favorite sandwich shops in the country(well, in the world). I have moved to Austin several years ago, but I stop here every time I visit the Bay Area(~once a month). This is an old Italian no-frills deli owned by a Korean family which serves quality sandwiches for reasonable prices. The decor is old and they havent updated it since the 50s or 60s, but no one goes there for the decor.I have never seen them completely empty. I have gone there at all sorts of odd hours and I always find people getting multiple sandwiches and the owners always working. They have Boarshead brand deli meat which is high quality to begin with. On top of that they make their own chicken and egg salads which are tasty. And they dont skimp on the meat. They hollow-out the bread to make sure the meat sits properly.Their Dutch crunch bread is to die for. I haven't found the Dutch crunch like theirs anywhere else, not even in NYC. I love the homemade chicken salad and the spicy sauces. The owner Sun is so sweet and awesome; I love her smile when she serves sandwiches. I have been coming here since 2007 and she remembered me and my order even after I didnt visit them for over 2 years. Her husband is also very friendly.I will be visiting for another 20 years.Update(2019/2020): Sun and her husband sold this shop and went traveling in Korea. I very much miss her warm smile. Luckily the new owners are their family friends and so they are keeping up with the tradition and still serve excellent sandwiches.
Taqueria San Bruno
1045 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
My coworkers and I sometimes order lunch from here even though its a bit of a drive from the office, because everyone generally enjoys the food. However, my experience here last week has turned me off to this place forever. As usual, 7 or 8 of us ordered and brought the food back to the office. As I was about halfway through, I felt something weird in my mouth, and when I pulled it out, it was a sharp metal wire!! And not a tiny little wire (though in hindsight, its probably better that it was big, otherwise I couldve accidentally swallowed it!) Needless to say, I was very upset. I immediately called TSB and told the girl what happened, and her response was Oh it was probably just a piece of foil or something to which I calmly responded that it was definitely not aluminum foil, it was an actual wire. She was like Okay ill give you your money back for the burrito, no apology, nothing. I commented that we deserved our money back for the whole order but I didnt actually expect that, I was just annoyed that she was being dismissive as though I made it up. We had paid on a credit card so I asked her how we would get the money back - would she just credit the amount back to the card? With an attitude she goes No, you need to come back here and pick it up, Ill give you cash. At this point I got annoyed with her attitude, and especially annoyed with the fact that I would have to drive back (another 40 to 45 min round trip). As Im telling her that this is ridiculous, and that considering I couldve cut my tongue on metal in my food, they could offer better customer service, she hung up on me. So much for that customer service! So my coworker and I drove back AGAIN - I didnt even care about the 10 bucks at this point, I wanted them to know that this was a big deal. I walk in and I go to the girl at the register, and I asked if she was the one I spoke to on the phone. Without a word she slams 10 bucks on the counter and just stares at me. I held up the wire and said For your information, this is what I found in my food and she gets pissed. With the biggest attitude, she sarcastically goes Well Im VERY sorry, but Im not giving you your money back for the meal to which I responded I dont care about the money, but its ridiculous that I have to come all the way back here to fix a mistake that you guys made! She responds with Well I sure wasnt gonna come to you!!! Shes yelling at this point so I stopped caring whether anyone else overheard, and I said Considering that theres A METAL WIRE in the food you serve, you really shouldnt be the one having an attitude. She then tells me to get out of there and I was like GLADLY, F you!! She goes Right back at you! As I walked out, I did not hesitate to show everyone who was sitting there what I found in my food, and said that if you find crap in your food, all you can expect is 10 bucks and an attitude, and she continued to yell from the counter for me to get out of there.I understand that it wasnt intentional, and if she had just apologized and tried to help the situation instead of telling me that it was probably foil and hanging up on me, and giving me a sh*tty attitude, I wouldnt even have cared. But when youre in the food service business, you need to ensure that you take the necessary steps to fix an error. If I had cut my tongue on that metal or swallowed any piece of it, and needed medical care, it wouldve been a much bigger pain. I will never go back because customer service is just as important as the product. I will also be reporting the incident to the Dept. of Health. Garbage in my food and a garbage attitude.
Taqueria Mi Durango
287 El Camino Real, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
I was in the area on Thursday dropping off two pairs of jeans for alteration at Brigette Cleaners at 241 El Camino Real. It was raining lightly and not busy. There were two young met seated in a booth as I walked in - my first time ordering from this establishment. Since I dont eat a lot of meat I decided to go with the Mushroom Quesadilla. I had worked all day in San Francisco, commuted via BART & wanted to get home. I opted to get this only, no drink. Cost with tax was over $14. I was surprised not to receive any chips with my order. As I was waited for my order a couple came in. The two young men in the booth who I thought were eating in were actually waiting for an order. The man behind the counter took their order to them. As I sat waiting in a booth, I saw the man behind the counter place another order on top of a barrel located outside behind the counter, obviously a to go order. Then my order was ready. He called out Mushroom Quesadilla but did not take my order out to me. Was it because I was the only woman. Yes, I think so. From the get go I found the man to have a condescending attitude toward me and quite rude. Of note is that I am 64. I have also had Mushroom Quesadillas before. This one was sauteed and placed on a thin paper plate covered in tin foil. Had they not placed my order in a plastic bag it would have leaked all over my car. Upon my arrival home when I removed it from the bag it had completely leaked through the paper plate onto my counter. I immediately though of the Dixie Plate commercial. No, I will not be ordering from Taqueria Mi Durango again.
Ichika Izakaya
851 Cherry Ave #34, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
New Japanese restaurant in Bayhill shopping center. Has fast service and good but small selection of rolls, soups, sushi and drinks. Only draw back is that they use imitation ? crab in their rolls and my ramen was a bit salty but tasty. Beef was soft and juicy and shishito peppers were well prepared and seasoned.
