California Pizza Kitchen at Tarzana
18800 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I love the California Pizza Kitchen. I went to the one on Tarzana with 3 companions. We all had something very different to eat it, when companion had soup and a small salad when companion had a pasta dish another companion had a pizza and I ate a salad. I should comment that I ordered a half salad as I know the sizes of the salads at California Pizza Kitchen the half salad covered an entire dinner plate. Everything was fresh tasty and serve promptly. The waitresses are attentive and come back multiple times to refresh drinks. The restaurant is busy, and it can be hard to find a parking place. This is not unusual for California Pizza Kitchen, but you can always be assured that you will get something good to eat.

Niko Sushi
19001 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
The food is not bad but the service was disappointing. We came in and were asked about drinks right away, but we wanted to ask for something else and our server just turned around and left not giving us a chance to order everything we wanted. The menu is not too big, no pictures, I used yelp pictures to choose what I wanted. We waited for 15 minutes ready to order and they would just walk by not stopping or asking if we were ready. The food came and it was nothing special, California roll was dry. I was pretty surprised to find out that they charge for sauces. The most disappointing part was that we werent asked if we want refills, not even once, everyone at the table had empty cups and 3 waitress walking by didnt notice. At the beginning of our dinner it was busy, but towards the end it wasnt as bad anymore so I hope we would get little bit more attention.
VIPs Cafe
18345 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
VIP's cafe is welcoming, serving classic staple food with a bang for your buck. Here's the break down.Environment:As mentioned, very welcoming with a mom and pop diner vibe. The waiters and waitresses will fix you up, if any trouble comes when deciding what to order. The interior has recently (couple years now) been refurbished, offering a nice mid century blend. There are plenty of seats whether it be dining at the counter, with two people, four people, or a party of 6+. Lastly, there tables situated in the patio, facing Ventura Blvd, with shade offered.Food & Drinks:They offer a vast menu for food and drinks, whether it be for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. You can't go wrong with the pancakes, French toast, and staple breakfast options. The burgers are standard sized, I believe their pattys blended by VIP's. Lastly, it's a great spot to sip on some mimosas, thank me later.Overall:VIP's is a classic spot to go to whether it be a lunch break, time alone, or gathering with friends and family. The interior elicits mid century dining (furniture). A well cleaned restaurant with hospitable workers and owners. The food is well portioned, and honestly for the price it is a bang for your buck. The food isn't extraordinary, but rather nostalgic and filling, it's not meant to be a Michelin oriented plate or experience. Example, the cheeseburger ($13) comes with two sides, whether you want onion rings, coleslaw (try this one out, imagine taking some to go and putting it on some bbq), fries, or some of their other side options. If you've read up to this point, I always like to leave a bit of crumbs to the readers. Free validation for the parking lot, with vast amount of parking. Coffee comes with free refills. Tons of famous people come to this cafe, just take a look at their walls with pictures of such people.
Garden Wok
6117 Reseda Blvd B, Tarzana, CA 91335, United States
The friendly and delicious GARDEN WOK is an excellent, family owned, Taiwanese, vegan restaurant. All the standard Americanized Chinese dishes are served. When I bring my meat eating friends they are always surprised, This vegan stuff tastes like regular Chinese.Garden Wok has been voted LAs best vegan, Chinese restaurant, many times. Owner and Chef Hsiueh Chiuehs (aka Sherry) menu includes analogs of fish, chicken, beef, and pork. Both brown and white rice are available. And, of course, a pot of Jasmine or green tea.Our server, Bill, is friendly and knowledgeable. You might begin your meal with Sizzling Rice Soup. Its a warm, delicious broth, containing vegan shrimp or chicken, tofu, carrots, broccoli, seaweed, and, of course, sizzling rice. Soup is served family style (bowl with 5 or 6 serving), or as a large individual serving. Then, add a couple of appetizers. The Chicken Drumette has a crisp crust and a soft, meaty center. This unique, specialty is served with a sweet plum dipping sauce and, if requested, spicy Chinese mustard. (Try mixing four parts sweet plum, with one part hot mustard, for a sauce with a gentle warmth.)Bursting with flavor, Cream Cheese Wontons are a flower shaped pleasure. A blend of vegan cream cheese, spinach, minced water chestnuts and white pepper are wrapped in a wonton skin, then deep fried. A flower emerges with opening petals. Pull apart and enjoy.Among their menu selections is Beef or Chicken With Pea Pods. These delicious dishes includes carrots and water chestnuts. A garlic sauce completes the entrees. The off-menu, Mongolian BBQ, a mix of thin, slices of vegan beef and minced veggies, is stir fried, then finished with a brown garlic sauce. Its a sumptuous pleasure.Servings are large. There will be leftovers. What would a Chinese restaurant be without something to take home? Youll be hungry later.STUFF: Prices are moderate. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. There is wheelchair accessible parking, tables, and a gender-neutral bathroom.

Kravings
18663 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
We recently went to Kravings Restaurant to celebrate a Birthday for my wifes sister. There were eight of us that evening and we had not been there before. Parking was available and we all met up at 5:30. I was impressed with the interior which has very nice red accent lighting and a clean atmosphere. After we were all seated we were told how the Restaurant works. There is a fixed price which includes portions of all the meats offered. A list of sides and appetizers can be checked off to select what you want to eat with the meat. We selected several items such as grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, French fries, bread slices, Caesar Salad, and Vegetable Soup. Then the meat started coming. Someone would come to our table with a skewer of meat which each of us would partake of. The meat just kept coming as long as the light on our table was kept on which we could control. The light is there so that if you want a break from the Meat arrival you can temporarily halt this service. Some of the selections were Rib Eye, Shrimp, Short Ribs, Sirloin Steak, Lime Chicken, Kabob, Lamb Chops, Pork Sausage, Salmon and Wasabi Steak. The music playing was Techno/House with a good beat and not too loud. Later a costumed Brazilion Dancer came out to entertain guests. She paid special attention to guests who were celebrating Birthdays and was quite talented and fun to experience. I ate too much because the food was delicious and I suffered later so be forewarned. Patio dining was also available. Overall it was a very nice dining experience. Recommended.
So Sushi
19596 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
One of the best sushi restaurants for sashimi Ive ever had! We both had the small Sashimi Lover Meal: Tuna, Yellowtail, and Albacore served with soup and rice. Wow! It was fresh, high grade, thick cut, sashimi that melted in your mouth. We couldnt have been happier with our meal! Compliments to the chef and owner. You have a top notch establishment. Delicious, professional, and affordable. The ultimate combination. Cant wait to come back! Thank you.
Poke Tiki - Tarzana
18509 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I've been eating here at Poke Tiki consistently since it opened years ago. Mainly due to how close and convenient it is when visiting my parents. The portions here are reasonable and will likely leave you sated. Ordering a large bowl let's you choose 4 generous scoops of protein, medium 3, small 2 etc. I usually go with the large. The quality of fish is decent, but I can think of an array of poke/sushi restaurants in the Valley with much better fish. My two favorites here are the tuna and albacore.Poke Tiki has just the right amount of variety when it comes to their toppings. They've even been adding new ones over time. My hope is that they eventually add more sauces as they are quite limited and rather one-note.Regarding pricing. A large bowl used to cost $16.95 and now costs $19.50. All other bowls has seen this $2.55 increase. Other Poke Tiki locations give you an extra scoop of protein (large - 5 scoops instead of 4), so I don't see why the price has increased here yet you don't get more protein? The restaurant itself is small and a similar set up to a Chipotle or Subway. Due to Covid, there is is still no indoor dinning, only outdoor. Keep that in mind if you choose to eat there.I'm still a huge fan of Poke Tiki and will continue to go here. The restaurants near it in this strip mall usually go out of business after 1 year, but Poke Tiki has managed to remain there for years, which is a testament to its consistency. I only wish they would add some more variety in sauces, more quality in fish and stop increasing prices, but that seems like a tall order.
