Panera Bread
1053 E 19th St Suite C, Upland, CA 91784, United States
Ive been to several Panera locations and this one is by far the worst. I have tried to like this particular location several times but this will be my last time here. The customer service is terrible starting with the front counter. The young ladies seem to be bothered to take an order and I dont think my order is too difficult. Same turkey sandwich every time -nothing special. On this particular time I asked for the chicken Caesar salad sandwich along with the turkey sandwich. I realize it is an off menu item (so Ive been told by another manager) but they will make it if requested. The young lady rolled her eyes when I asked if she could check to see if they would make it. She came back and said its discontinued so you cant have it so choose another sandwich because Im not giving you that one. I changed my order and went to wait for my food. I asked to speak to the manager before I left and asked him why this was the only location that wont make that sandwich even if its an off menu item. He replied no one should be making that sandwich and I will speak to everyone. If you dont see it on the menu you should not order it. Its a discontinued item. Ok fine. Panera has good food but its not to die for and I dont need to be treated so rudely especially for the price I pay for a simple turkey sandwich.
Mimis Bistro & Bakery

If you hate waiting long, long time for your food (say more than 40 minutes wait?), then this is not the place for you. After we ordered our food, we felt completely forgotten or abandoned. Customers at a nearby table waited long enough that they asked to talk to the restaurant manager. No one (manager or waitress) came talk to us while we were waiting. No bread either. The restaurant wasnt even crowded at all. It was only 40-50% full that day. I will not go visit them anymore.

Secret Sauce
903 W Foothill Blvd Suit B, Upland, CA 91786, United States
Secret sauce is the best Asian fusion food in the local area of Upland! The Chicken Katsu is hard to beat, pork being just as good. If you like places like L&L Hawaiian BBQ, you’ll really love this place. I’ve just been here four times and it is now my favorite go-to restaurant in Upland. My wife and I marvel each time we leave how good the food is. The miso soup is fantastic. The katsu chicken is perfect every time. Even after 5 to 10 minutes of eating all the other great side orders, the katsu chicken never becomes soggy and is a tender as can be. The consistency from this chef is rock solid!!! Try the basil sauce with your veggies; its flavor on steroids with a hint of heat. I included a photo of the underside of a table. That may seem strange to some, but to me, it’s a way of determining the cleanliness of a restaurant when there is no gum under a table. Perhaps I was trying to be a smidgen artistic, as well (LoL). The macaroni salad is mayo based with tiny diced up pieces of apples, white raisins, and shredded carrots… way better than other Hawaiian, Asian barbecue places.Oops, I almost forgot to mention. Be sure to try the garlic edamame! This is the best thing I’ve had in a long time, sweet and savory. ?
New Indian Restaurant
583 E Foothill Blvd Suitev 9, 10 & 11, Upland, CA 91786, United States
I was skeptical when we pulled in front of the restaurant as Indian restaurants are always hit and miss, no matter the reviews. But this one was a winner, hands down!!! The place is humble but clean, food is authentic, home-cooked style and absolutely delicious. It brought back childhood memories of eating piping hot fresh food served at Dhabas (Truckstops) in Northern India. They offer rare dishes like Sarson da saag and Makki di roti and Pakorewali kadhi cooked to perfection and served with fresh-churned white butter. Once I saw these on the menu, I knew I had come to the right place because rarely do Indian restaurants list these on the menu. More than anything, this restaurant is a treasure trove of finger-licking delectable vegetarian (& vegan) dishes. They are so flavorful, meat-lovers wont even miss the meat! The Punjabi chole was cooked to melt in your mouth served with Bhatura. And, the Palak paneer was perfectly spiced. The spice level can be requested mild, medium or hot per your preference. Service is friendly and quick with members of the family serving dishes with warmth and a smile. Our order arrived in 15 minutes. Dishes are priced very reasonably, and portions are fairly generous with left-overs to enjoy again depending on how ravenous you are. We would make the 2 hour drive again just to patronize this restaurant. Highly recommend!!
Imari sashimi & sushi
733 W Foothill Blvd #D, Upland, CA 91786, United States
Writing this review in response to the people who seemed to have confused their own one-star rating as a person with the rating of Imari Sushi. This sushi place is so good, I routinely check to see if anyone rates it poorly, because the family that runs it are as genuine and awesome as the food they lovingly make. This place is carry-out only but they have a mini-mart of Japanese groceries and treats to browse while you wait for your order. This place is an absolute gem of a sushi spot that rivals the quality and taste of higher-end sushi places in LA, but nicely hidden in the most unassuming plaza next to a Little Caesars (which is convenient if you want to treat yourself to a quality Nigri set, while you let your kids go wild on a $5 Hot-n-Ready.)10/10 would recommend any of their sushi bowls. Ive tried every single one and they do not disappoint. The only thing disappointing about Imari are the 1-star reviews people leave.
KEDAI Indonesian Cafe
110 S Mountain Ave, Upland, CA 91786, United States
I drove by this place a couple times and was excited that a new Indonesian place was opening up. Its a really nice and cozy cafe that serves old school pastries, the kind I would eat in my childhood. When I moved to the States, you cant really find those pastel, kroket, risoles, or lemper, not many restaurant sells them, or even makes them from scratch. So when I saw all these pastries, I went crazy and I knew this place would fill the missing parts of my immigrant life here. I would say this is one of the only place that would bring back all those nostalgic memories before moving to LA and I would drive 1 hour just to get that fresh, made from scratch pastries. I havent found any other Indonesian cafe that would bring back all my happy childhood memories of hanging out with my friends at a cafe, eating pastels & risoles with chili and sambal (the real one, not that fake wannabe bullcrap from HuyFong). Oh and the coffee? Stop going to Starbucks that serves fake coffee using Indonesian island as their name, youre better off going to the real place that serves the real, authentic, imported Indonesian coffee for the same price. If you have a doubt about this, my last name is Indonesian as hell, I grew up there, and I approve this as one of the most ethnic & authentic cafe.**Fast forward to now, . Kedai is still very special to me. I just came back from Indonesia, had the pastries (pastels, risoles) back home but lets not fool around. Kedais pastries still taste waaaay better. First of all, 1 pastel in Indonesia is now about $2.50. You Indonesians who think its still cheaper to eat in Jakarta can suck on deez. Second of all, the pastels here are about twice the size, so youre already getting a good deal. Lastly, the pastries here (especially pastel) have more flavor than the ones in Indonesia. You can taste the difference in quality. You 90s Jakarta people surely know what Indonesian pastries are supposed to taste like. Id rather get Kedais pastries, and Id be more than happy to pay $5 for the taste Kedai has to offer. Kedais recipe is still the classic, the ones I grew up with, and will always be very special to me.In the pictures are pastel, risoles, choco banana roll, and Dutch roll, with ice americano and pandan latte.
The Olde Magnolia Tea Room
201 N 1st Ave, Upland, CA 91786, United States
Where should I begin? This has to be one of the best afternoon tea experiences I have ever had in my life. I frequent luxurious five star hotels and resorts for their afternoon tea experience. But the experience at The Olde Magnolia Tea Room truly stood out to me above most to all of these luxurious hotels' services and accompaniments. The Tea Room has a beautiful interior decor that featured traditionally painted British chinas as well as thoughtfully appointed touches, such as table cloths and paintings, that highlighted the elegance and grace of a traditional British high tea experience. The seasonal ornaments for the fall/Halloween also showcased the owner's great levels of attention to detail. I did sit inside this time, but I would be more than happy to also try their outdoor patio which looked nicely appointed as well when I walked past it on my way inside.I shall move to the tea experience itself at this point. The high tea was served in the traditional chinas I have mentioned above, which made the experience feel homey and relaxing. The earl grey tea I ordered was wonderfully brewed to a good temperature as served. (As a tea maniac I would understand this well.) The scone was out of this world as it was both remarkably soft as well as decadently crumbly in your mouth. The accompaniments for the scone were well balanced and included the most wonderful Devonshire cream that was unlike the other ones I have tasted. The finger sandwiches and soup (split pea soup, one of their new creations) and salad worked magically together to create a full tea experience that stood itself apart from just any regular afternoon tea experience.Lastly, I had to save the most wonderful service for closing. Terry, one of the co-owners took my reservation over the phone and personally served me at the tea room today. He was one of the most thoughtful and detail-oriented hosts I have ever met. He frequently checks in on you at a pace that neither feels too rushed nor too slow. As someone with frequent fine dining experiences, I truly believe even Michelin-starred restaurants' waiters can take a page out of his manners and service. Each dish was taken away swiftly when I was fully completed with the serving. The gentle updates on when my next accompaniment will arrive also shows true thoughtfulness and care towards the customer's pacing. The smile and courteous attitude summarized the entire experience as one of truly exceptional service. I told him that I intend on bringing my partner here for tea next week, and I could not be more excited about that. To be able to cap the delightful high tea experience with a genuine welcome from one of the co-owners for next time certainly will put a smile on anyone's face. Having the co-owner as your host and server also showed that the owners are both remarkably hands on people who would personally want to treat their guests with high levels of respect.I only have one minor suggestion to make this establishment even finer. I want to preface this by saying that I understand cost-wise this might be an increase for the establishment, hence the customer, but I think it's very worthy of the investment. The tea currently comes in a beautiful pot in the form of a sachet inside the pot (a triangular form of a tea bag intended to increase circulation of water in the tea to increase fragrance and aroma). However, I believe the restaurant will benefit greatly from also offering loose tea leaves as an option at an up charge to the customers who prefer to have an experience with the highest quality of tea brewing quality and aroma. Like I said above, the loose tea leaves option will likely increase cost for the establishment. But a small up charge for certain tea enthusiast customers like myself would be more than acceptable. Having tea strainers that match the decor of the tea set and establishment will also further increase the sophistication of this already wonderful tea room.~Ray

Nice facility, however, restrooms/ brides dressing room have NO VENTILATION: while dressing the bridal party was freaking MELTING! We complained several times and FINALLY someone went and BOUGHT a box fan- AFTER everyone had finished getting dressed. Better late than never, right? Also, the food served was okay, however, the meatballs were not completely cooked - raw in the middle. E.coli anyone? Also, it was a beautiful view. Would have been really nice if we could have gone out on the balcony to see it! The bride requested it. Was not made available to us. Inside was nice, but whats the use of having a wedding at a great venue if part if the beauty is hidden from view? However, the reason I gave 2 stars, the people working there were super helpful (as much as possible). Polite, kind, all that.
Nunos Bistro & Bar

Daaaaaaaaaang... where do I begin? Amazing everything; ambience, music, staff, drinks, food...It is a very unassuming restaurant in an assuming area. The shopping center is nice and clean, but, truly, we came in hoping it would be as good as the reviews claimed. I will concur- this place is simply fantastic!!!Firstly, we saw there was a burrata salad. We asked Danny, who was helping us if we can turn the sald into an appetizer and before I could finish my sentence he said they would make anything we wanted! If that isn't superb service...Now, the burrata comes and good Lord... the fresh mozzarella garnished with chimchurri, arugula sprinkled with olive oil, lightly roasted cherry tomato's and bruschetta- freakin amazing! We then ordered the sliders, crab cakes and pizza ( with the meats and veggies). One at a time, we consumed. The sliders were some of the best burgers, period. So savory, flavorful, juicy, and garnished to perfection. You will not go wrong. We love seafood and are very picky with seafood. The crab cakes were de-licious! Again, the quality freshness, and flavor of the ingredients wereoutstanding. The pizza was rich with flavor.....again awesome.nooooooow, the entire was spectacular. The braised short rib was tender to perfection. It melted in our mouth, the pairing of it with cous cous, grapes, garnish, and marscapone was enough to keep us salivating for more...The quinoa salad-light, fresh, delicious.Tangerine dream, mojito, and strawberry daiquiri——perfection. They make all drinks with fresh juices, no cocktail mixes. They will also make whatever you want, even if not listed!Dessert: sweet cream pudding with cookie crumb and fresh raspberries and blackberry was Devine. It was reminiscent of a creme brûlée less the sugar topping. We are fans now and will be back to try out their breakfast/brunch. We eat at very high end and low end restaurants (and, everything in between). This felt like such a very, very high end meal without the very high end price tag. Fantastic service and experience.Well Done!

With the cost of everything nowadays going up and continuing to do so, still some things can be ridiculous at times. So I order a bowl of chili today and got my order . The chili is great here can’t knock that. The upsetting part is the the cashier tells me the onions and cheese to add to my chili soup cost extra. I was like wow really, chili anywhere else comes with cheese and onions to add, kind of standard sides when eating a bowl of chili you would have thought. Again I know prices have gone up and of course the price of this chili has gone up but you would think the condiments that help make the chili more enjoyable are to come with it when asked. But to upcharge it wow shame on this restaurant.
