Pho Shop
333 Alameda St # 125, Los Angeles, CA 90013, United States
Gamsahabnida! Soup!! Delicious warm soup! While coming to the plaza to get some lattes at Coffee Bean, wife and I walked around and were attracted at how busy this location was. We made it a point to come back and try this Pho Shop. While never having tried Pho, I read through the menu and saw they have Ox Tail Pho. I ordered that and my wife ordered the House Fried Rice. We have been coming to this location for a couple of cold and rainy days and the soup just hits the spot. The ladies working hard are always attentive and respectful. By our third visit one of the ladies recognized us and almost helped us immediately...but alas the other lady stopped her and helped the other waiting customer. Fair is fair. The location is spaced out nicely. Many tables to accommodate visitors. All in all a nice location to enjoy soup with your loved one, a friend, or one of those days to be alone.Thank you and God bless you.
Dragon Rouge Bistro Alameda
2337 Blanding Ave, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
This review is long overdue but I want to express the wonderful service and food at Dragon Rouge.Last month my organization hosted a holiday party at this location. We were debating between a few other restaurants but when we came across Dragon Rouge, it was an easy no brainer. The venue is beautiful, spacious and most importantly, very affordable. We were seated outside but under a tent and with heater lamps to prevent the cold.Customer service is phenomenal. Jimmy was very thorough in explanation, patient and accommodating. Easy and prompt communication through phone and emails. As a party of around 30, we have a lot of allergies and questions that needed to be tended to but Dragon Rouge managed it all. There were also no surprises on the price because Jimmy always provided a quote even though I kept adding/removing people/items from the list. On the day of, Carrie was amazing as well. She checked up on us to make sure we were happy and they made it very easy for our party to move around and play games. The other servers were very sweet as well and didnt mind how loud our party was.All the food was delicious and accommodating for all dietary restrictions. We got the spring rolls, garlic noodles, catfish, grilled porkchop, calamari, fried rice, papaya salad, and I think thats it.... I received really good feedback from all staff about the food! I personally highly recommend the catfish clay pot, grilled porkchop and papaya salad.Overall, everyone was very satisfied hosting our holiday party here. Will definitely be back even as a regular customer and highly encourage other organizations to host their parties here!
Burma Superstar
1345 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
Burma Superstar offers a delectable balance of both flavorful dishes and refreshing drinks, creating a culinary experience that satisfies both the palate and the thirst. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in a variety of dishes and beverages that showcased the restaurants commitment to culinary excellence.Starting with the food, one notable highlight was the Tea Leaf Salad. This signature Burmese dish combined fermented tea leaves with an array of fresh vegetables and crunchy nuts, creating a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. The vibrant colors and complex taste profile made it a refreshing and satisfying choice.Moving on to the mains, the Coconut Curry Chicken stood out as a true masterpiece. The tender chicken was simmered in a creamy coconut-based curry sauce, infused with aromatic spices that tantalized the senses. The depth of flavors and the richness of the curry made it a standout dish that paired beautifully with steamed rice.To complement the savory offerings, Burma Superstar also offers a range of delightful beverages. The ginger lemonade, with its perfect balance of tangy lemon and invigorating ginger, provided a refreshing and rejuvenating option. It was a wonderful choice to cleanse the palate and enhance the dining experience. For those seeking a more adventurous drink, the ginger lemon drop cocktail was a delightful option. This creative twist on a classic cocktail combined the sweetness of a lemon drop with the aromatic essence of ginger, resulting in a captivating blend of flavors that left a lasting impression.Whether it was the satisfying main courses or the refreshing beverages, Burma Superstar showcased a harmonious balance between its food and drink offerings. The carefully crafted flavors and attention to detail in both aspects contributed to an exceptional dining experience that catered to various preferences and cravings. With its flavorful dishes and enticing beverage selection, Burma Superstar successfully combines culinary delights and refreshing drinks, ensuring a well-rounded and memorable dining experience for guests.

By far, the one of the best Southeast Asian restaurants in all of the Bay. The best in Alameda for sure.
Phnom Penh House
1514 Webster St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
Simply a cut above, this family run business, in what to me, is an obscure location, (Webster St. in Alameda, I need to check out Alameda more often),Offers Real regional Cambodian food, made by chefs who REALLY know what they are doing. For those uninitiated, Cambodian Food, is similar in some aspects to to other southeast Asian cuisines, but tends to be a little less sweet, and more fragrant and piquant, than a lot of Thai restaurants, (Some of which I simply adore) and have some Salads, and soups unique to their region.Among the dishes we ordered with a bottle of Sake (Which was a surprise to me for how well it went with this food) were the following:106: Noum Om Beng, a Cambodian Prawn crepe stuffed w/pork, shrimp, coconut, & bean sprout served w/ peanut sauce, served with large lettuce leaf, which you use as a wrap. Incredibly savory and crunchy and just a hint of sweetness too.108, Norm Moarn Chicken Salad, a Tangy and fresh, Chicken breast mixed w/ shredded cabbage, carrot, onion, mint leaves tossed w/ house made dressing. Refreshing.643, Prawns in Vegetable Delux, Prawns sautéed w/ broccoli flowers, mushroom, snow peas, baby corn, bamboo shoot, & Napa Cabbage (Choice of mild red or spicy green curry sauce). Succulent, and herb-y green curry really makes this dish! Perfectly spicy too.213: Samlaw Machhou Phnom-Penh, zesty and deeply flavored Soup cooked w/ prawn, fish, pineapple, tomato, lemongrass, & tamarind paste. Amazing. similar in some ways to the Thai soup called Tom Kha Kai, but with deeper smokier flavors balanced by the brightness of the pineapple.641: Cha Bangkea, Tender prawns simmered in mild chili peanut sauce served w/ cooked cabbage. This is taking comfort food to a whole other level. I have always had a thing for peanut sauce, but when you mix it with with savory prawns, you absolutely have my attention. One thing about this restaurant is that all the dished tasted really fresh, like they had just gone to market an hour earlier for all their ingredients. The outdoor seating, now available since the lifting of the Ban in Alameda, make for the perfect outdoor dining experience, and a much needed place to get out to and spend some time outside as well. The finishing dessert, the classical Fried Banana and ice cream was great, and here they really shined, because the banana was REALLY fresh, the crispy batter REALLY hot and crunchy and the ice cream tasted like Häagen-Dazs, or some other top shelf ice cream and not something cheap. All in all I cannot recommend this restaurant, and if you havent begun your adventure into Cambodian and regional Southeast Asian cuisine this is a great place to start.Humbly,P.I.
Malaya Tea Room
920 Central Ave, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
Gf review! I'll say the nice things first. Malaya Tea Room is a nice high tea experience. Each time I go I call and ask if they can do gf and they say YES. It's relatively inexpensive compared to other high tea places in the bay. They have flavors for both picky and adventurous eaters, and their desserts change seasonally. What I like about them is that the desserts are usually gluten free; mango sago, ondeh ondeh, macarons, and chocolates. My parents got some of the items (not the macaron), in addition to a small slice of cake (they are not gf)— they also received scones and potato canapés and fruit, none of which I received. They SOMETIMES have gluten free bread for the sandwiches, plus gf crackers. They have a summer item (this cost extra— not included) of Air Batu Campur which is shaved ice with toppings: red bean, sweet corn, pandan jelly, grass jelly, rose syrup, coconut palm sugar, and evaporated milk. It's gf and refreshing! Overall the staff seems aware and knowledgeable about what gf is. Staff is very friendly. Service is good. Here are the critiques: My one chief complaint is that I didn't get any fruit but my parents did— since when is fruit glutinous??? This, in addition to not having gf scones or canapés (even though the price of the meal includes the scone and canapés whether or not you receive it). They offered neither to replace fruit nor scone and canapés with another gf sandwich flavor, or an gf extra dessert. So the lack of fruit and scone with no replacement makes it $35 for two sandwiches, three small (SMALL) desserts, and tea. It was good but just disappointing that they did not want to substitute either. You can check out the other pictures posted here to see the difference of how much food regular diners get here vs what I got.Did not get glutened. If you want a gluten free tea, you MUST call and tell them beforehand when you make the reservation so that they can buy gf bread, as they don't keep it stocked.
Lao Bistro
1305 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
This place should be packed! I hope you give this place a try today because the food is high quality and full of flavor. I wasnt sure about this place at first because they dont have a lot of reviews and werent really busy, but you can tell by the photos the food is good—thats what finally made my wife decide to check it out and were really glad we did! We went last night with another family and we liked it so much that we came back tonight to try their other dishes. There are many restaurants in Alameda with mediocre food that are crowded, but this place should be overflowing with customers and I want to draw some attention to this gem. This is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, so please give it a try!PS. They no longer serve sushi and are focused on Lao food and Southeast Asian food, which luckily for us is fantastic!
Bacogai
2651 Blanding Ave E, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
I give this place a 3.5 stars rating. This place is relatively new and to me its a Vietnamese fusion restaurant with hotpot. The place looks pretty nice and is roomy that everyone can sit comfortably. The food options on the menu are quite simple and we didnt need to spend so much time to look for what we wanted order. They also have add-ons for you to order if you feel like the portion of the hotpot itself is not enough for you.Alright let me start with pros:1) I really liked their pork bone marrow hotpot which also came with a small variety of veggies and noodle. The broth was rich and tasted good and yet it was not salty.2) I also ordered short ribs, wagyu beef, lobster balls, and crab sticks. The beef was quite tasty and fresh. So were the lobster balls and crab.3) I also ordered the blueberry lemonade soda... its just a soda flavor without the taste of lemonade. the drink wasnt bad.4) the customer services were excellent. I enjoyed my time eating there with my friend. The only two cons I could think of are:1) the prices of add-ons are quite expensive for a small portions, especially for the short ribs and wagyu beef.2) To me the portion of the hotpot was relatively small, comparing with other places that serve individual hotpot.I wasnt paid attention to their auto calculated tips as I always did in every restaurant I went to to see if they intentionally put tips after the tax. So no comment on this part. Would I come back? I might to try another broth of hotpot and thats it without having any add-ons. I can go other places for short ribs and wagyu beef with good quality and all you can eat style just for 40 bucks. Oh? how much I spent in here? I spent about 140 dollars just for two people (two drinks, one appetizer, two hotpots, and 4 add-ons) in a Vietnamese fusion restaurant.
Pho Nation
1511 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States
Surprise hangout in Alameda on Park St. From the name youd think it is just a typical Pho spot but once you get inside youll find a spacious full bar, VIP room equipped restaurant/lounge.They have comedy shows, feature bands that embrace southeast Asian culture and DJs. There are plenty of seats in this place and during nights with DJs spinning they would open the floor for dancing. Its definitely not a quiet place to dine in but more of an ambiance as if you were in the street venue in Asia. From all the items Ive tried and ordered, I havent had one bad dish yet. I really like their pho and the liquid gold (pho broth) is well seasoned. My second favorite is the pork belly for sure. You can go wrong with ordering anything here when it comes to the food.If youre having a group event, you can rent the VIP room equipped with screens and mic for karaoke or just listening to music. Large communal table to share food and a lounge seating area to hang out. The bottle service is really reasonably priced as well!Staff is friendly and down to earth. Great place to have a good time and eat to sober you up before you head out. They also have to-go if youd like to dine in the comfort of your own home.
