Korean food that tastes good will be served with a few kimchi, cucumbers, cabbage, bean sprouts, shredded potatoes, etc. before serving. My first meal in San Francisco was at this restaurant. I ordered roast beef and beef and tofu soup, both of which were great. The tofu soup comes with a raw egg. You have to break the egg into the soup bowl and heat it with the residual heat. The bibimbap we had for lunch the next day was also delicious. There was a sunny-side-up egg inside, and Korean hot sauce was also provided, including minced beef, shredded carrots, shredded black fungus, bean sprouts, shredded cucumbers, and mushrooms. wait.

SC Noodle House
648 El Camino Real, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
New fusion restaurant at San Carlos. It serves Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean dishes. It has full bar service. We didnt make a reservation and get seated right away. It was not busy when we arrived but after thatvit was packed. The interior is very nicely decorated. We ordered rare beef pho and salt and pepper wing. The dishes were ready pretty quickly. The service is goodThe chicken wing is yummy but a bit salty. The soup of the pho is not hot enough and also too sweet for me. I can taste a strong onion flavor, and sweetness is from the onion. I prefer less sweet. The meat is tender. Overall, the food is good, but if you are looking for authentic pho soup, this might not be the one. Next visit, we will try other dishes. Price is a bit high but reasonable. The restaurant also adds 3.25% for good living wages on the bill. If you want to try various asian noodles and cusines under one roof, you should give it a try.
Poked Out Fish Bar
603 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
Defintely Poked Out after the lunch. Ordering method is broken down nicely and listed down well in the menu. It goes like Base + Poke + Mix-in + Sauce + Add-ons. I have chosen the medium sized bowl where I got 4 scoops of poke instead of mentioned 3, all the sizes get additional scoop as complementary. Chose couple of miso shrimp and spicy crab(it was spicy indeed) scoops. Tofu medley was not that great, tough to satisfy vegetarians or vegans. I felt the quantity was overwhelming for one person, small would be more than enough. Priced around $20 for the medium, its on the expensive side, but the diverse selections make it recommendable. Note that it’s only a to-go restaurant.
Mudai Ethiopian Restaurant
503 W San Carlos St, San Jose, CA 95126, United States
Really nice people, even let us use the bathroom when we ordered to-go. Their shrimp doro derek and chicken doro tibs is bommmmb. This place probably has the best protein I've tasted from an Ethiopian restaurant. Their yellow split peas are delicious and you can taste the garlic and butter and they're always cooked perfectly.I've never seen seafood offered at an Ethiopian restaurant so this place stands out and their shrimp is seasoned perfectly and just tastes amazing with the onions, tomatoes, and delicious flavors. The chicken too- it's stir fried and taste literally like hibachi. I love this place because their food is good cold and hot.Their injera is perfect and also good cold/room temp. Their collard greens are a little bitter the last time I had them and their potatoes are big and can be underdone with the cabbage in the veggie combo. And I personally don't like the dark lentils in the chili powder sauce But, what I love about this place is that they give you huuuuge portions! They're not cheap and they don't skim on things. I also love how they're open late- so it's my kind of place. Thanks for always providing yummy food and good service.
Noelanis Island Grill

It's always a good day when you're having Hawaiian food.「 O R D E R E D + V E R D I C T 」1. P.O.G. | $4 | 4/5 :Drink - Passionfruit, orange, and guava. First sip in and you can immediately taste the guava purée then you kinda taste the orange juice after. Passionfruit flavor was subtle. But overall, its a refreshing drink.2. Virgin Pina Colada | $6 | 5/5 :Drink - I never really liked pina colada flavored things, but to my surprise, this was probably the highlight of the whole meal. This drink comes in slushee form. Not too sweet. The pineapple and coconut flavors works in harmony. Whenever I think of pina colada, i find it very artificial, but not with this drink! I cant stop talking about it because its so goooooood!3. Poke Sampler | $21 | 4.5/5 :Appetizer - You get to sample 4 Hawaiian Poke which were Ahi Shoyu (strong ginger taste), Ahi Spicy (not really spicy), Lomi Salmon (my fav out of all, melts in your mouth), and kimchi tofu style (not really poke but still good). Served with a bed of cabbage underneath. Does not come with Taro Chips.4. Taro Chips | $5 | 5/5 :Side - ordered this separately to pair with the poke sampler. Crispy. Nice and big slices.5. Hurricane Fries | $9 | 5/5 :Side - these are savory and salty shoestring fries. Thinly coated with sriracha, wasabi aioli, unagi sauce and some furikake seasoning. Sweet but crispy. Once you eat a piece, you cant stop eating it.6. Shaka Chicken Plate | $18 | 4/5 :Fried boneless chicken (mix of dark and breast meat). Comes with rice and macaroni salad. Substituted spam fried rice for extra $2. The chicken was perfectly battered and flavorful. Drizzled with some Sriracha wasabi aioli and unagi sauce. The mac salad was pretty good. The spam fried rice looked soggy and bland but to my surprise, it was so good!Although Ive never been to Hawaii, It truly feels like Im there. Overall, such a great experience. Staff were nice. Continually checked up and cleared the table for us. Definitely coming back!
Isarn Garden Thai Cuisine

This place is not the easiest to find and park at. I had plans to meet up here with a couple of friends, and each of us got lost on the way. This place is tucked away in a small lot, so we all ended up getting rerouted and circled the block before either parking in the small lot, which only fits a few cars, or on the street nearby. Despite the small size of the lot and restaurant, there was a bit of a wait, as this place was packed for dinner on the weekend.I order my usual at Thai restaurants: eggplant with crispy tofu. The fried tofu was nicely spongy, so it absorbed a lot of flavour and the eggplant was juicy and not overcooked. The dish didnt come with rice, which is typical at about half of the Thai restaurants Ive been to, and I was okay without it since I wasnt super hungry. The portion was kind of small, and if Id been hungrier, I wouldve needed to order more food to get full, but since I wasnt too hungry, it worked out.
El Maguey
1065 Holly St D, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
At this Mexican spot, the foods just okay,The tortas decent, but wont blow you away,The tacos, alas, are a different story,Their tortillas are big, which dampens the glory. The flavors arent bad, but nothing stands out,And the service is average, without any clout,But if youre in the area and need a quick bite,This place might suffice, though its not quite right. The atmospheres pleasant, with a cozy vibe,But the tacos are a miss, which I cant abide,And though the tortas tasty, its not worth a trip,Overall, this place doesnt quite hit the hip.So if youre in the mood for Mexican fare,There are better options out there, if you dare,But if you find yourself in this spot by chance,Order the torta, and give the tacos a pass.

Its been a couple of years since we dined in at Siryavah restaurant. Restaurant was not very busy for a Saturday night. The food was super flavorful esp. the Basil Tofu and the panang curry. Owner is friendly as always. Love that they have put in semi permanent structures between the tables which also affords a degree of privacy. I am surprised by some of the negative reviews as we have always had good dining experiences here and one of our favorite Thai places in the peninsula.
Kategna Ethiopian Restaurant
1663 W San Carlos St, San Jose, CA 95128, United States
It was freezing cold and rainy in the Bay Area but I had decided to drag my mentee with me to support my favorite local mom-and-pop restaurant. It was my second trip this month, amidst the storm and the surge of Omicron! What can I say, a girl has to eat some good food, and this appetite is always willing to go the distance to dig my hands in the Injera. ?You cant go wrong with their juicy Yebeg Tibs (my absolute favorite!!!), Yedoro Wot and the vegetarian combo. Their stew, meat and vegetables (especially the collard greens) are so tender and flavorful that it feels as though all the herbs and spices collide and explode in your mouth. ?? Delish foods like this can be dangerous--please come with your buffet shirt ready and you might need to be wheeled out of there if you dont pace yourself. In all honesty, you can tell when certain food is prepared with so much heart and soul--you can always taste and feel that love from the hands that make the food. Just be patient with the process and soak in the homey and cozy ambience of this place while high-quality food is being prepared. What comes with love is not quickly and readily available in an instance like the ones at those fastfood joints. This is the fourth Ethiopian restaurant in the area that Ive dined at, and its safe to say, Im going to keep coming back to this place for the foreseeable future, as long as the quality of their food doesnt change. I really hope their business will survive the pandemic.Having had the luxury to enjoy the abundance of cultural foods around me over the years, it has taught me a few lessons about respecting and cherishing the beauty of differences in our world. It is important that we learn, not only to appreciate the good foods around us and the products that we consume, but we must also learn to love the hands of those who labor with heart and soul to create those foods and produce the things for our daily consumption.Words of advice from me:• Be willing to go out of your comfort zone to try new things, adventures in food and experiences in life, and you may be pleasantly surprised and in for an exquisite journey.• Never prejudge the quality of the food by the exterior of the restaurant or its surrounding landscape. Some of the best authentic foods are located in the heart of those good ol neighborhoods, while many superficially fancy-looking restaurants can be costly but have no soul food to offer.• Gems like Kategna just take a little more efforts to dig and little longer to find, but its so worth it! ?
Yans Garden
885 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070, United States
The San Francisco Bay Area is known for great Chinese Food. I myself have indulged on a regular basis at a variety of seemingly authentic Chinese Cuisine. Quality is not strong enough of a word to describe how excellent Yans Garden is at satisfying the craving for great Chow Mein Noodles, Mongolian Lamb, Spicy Tofu and beyond. There is just not enough days in the year to enjoy every ounce of perfection that the Yans Garden Menu has to offer. I kindly invite Yans Garden to open a sister restaurant under any name anywhere off the strip in Las Vegas. I recommend somewhere near the Red Rock Casino Hotel in the business district! We need real Chinese Food In Las Vegas for the locals and regular visitors.
