The Olive RestoBar
8830 Apollo Way Suite 104, Downey, CA 90242, United States
Im flabbergasted by the poor service from the manager, Carlos. He lied to me, wasted all our time, and was just overall a very unprofessional and petty person. Their Happy hour slider and normal slider apparently have different cheeses even though they are labeled the same thing on both the menus.Heres what happened:I took a bite(half the burger) and realized that the whole reason I ordered the slider, for the goat cheese, was not there... the Horror!! I informed the wait staff to see if they would bring me another slider because they did not prepare the food as per their menu. The waiter informed me that he could not make that decision and I would have to talk to the manager. Sure, no big deal... I dine at fancy restaurants- this should be an easy fix.I explain to Carlos of the mishap and ask for a free slider made as per the menu. He explains there is a difference between the two, but will bring it out. Carlos then brings out just the goat cheese, smiles, and walks off. I have food in my mouth and cant say anything.I ask my girlfriend if I was clear in what I asked for. She said yes. I once again inform the waiter that I need to speak to Carlos. Carlos came back and I informed him of our miscommunication. He said the slider was on the way! Woo. Mistakes happen and people are busy and stressed, its all good. While waiting for the slider, the bill comes and Im aghast! Goat cheese and 1 extra slider is included in our bill! Wow. Probably just another mistake due to their system. Maybe they had to add it that way for the kitchen to prep it. I inform the waiter. Waiter talks to Carlos and says it is correct. Now Im starting to get mad, but I keep my cool. I ask again to see Carlos. In the mean time, my slider comes- No goat cheese. Granted there is still plenty of extra unused goat cheese already on the side, so maybe they didnt want to waste any more of this precious resource. Or maybe they wanted me to add to my bellys content. So I add and I eat. My belly is satisfied.Carlos arrives. I bring up the bill and point out those two extra items. He says they dont give out free food, argues a bit about the menu, but resolves to take care of it. The waiter brings back the bill and Im once again aghast to the pettiness of this manager- The goat cheese side is still on the bill! I argue some more, he agrees to remove that as well. I give him cash, inform the waiter of the $2 extra coming to him, and walk off. When I got back to the car, thats when it hit me- the poor service from Carlos the entire time was completely calculated, mischevious, and petty. He knew what he was doing. Sadly- all this was over a measly $6 slider on a $100 plus bill.Unfortunately, the only person who was harmed from the making of this situation was the waiter. He would have received much more than a 15% tip.
Zaiqa Grill

Worst service. Worst food. Its a mom-pop restaurant. Super small serving (literally a small bowl) and its overpriced. The updated menu is included in this review. The bread/rice is not included, you have to pay extra. Water is not free. Taste is also bland. Save your money and don't go to this place. Super tight parking in-front. The owner blamed us for something we didn't do. THEY WILL CHARGE 15% GRATUITY for parties of 4+. We got billed extra for some reason, very sketchy place. I don't recommend going here, not coming back. Me and my family went to this place so you don't have to suffer. This place should be shut down.
The Hummus Factory
8266 Firestone Blvd, Downey, CA 90241, United States
Hummus factory, you should stick to hummus ONLY. I decided to do something nice for my brother that's in the hospital not far away from this location and I regret it. I'm not complaining bout the price, price itself is reasonable if we are talking about the portions on the plates but like any other restaurants, taste is more important and that's where they lack. Hummus was good and so was the salad as it was fresh. I ordered two protein plates that came with chicken and beef. My chicken was over cooked and dried and absolutely no salt in it. It was so bland, you could only taste what it seemed to me cinnamon and maybe coriander but no SALT to it. Did I say it was dry? Because it left me wanting to drink water . Plain water has more taste than this plate. Rice was cooked ok but also missing seasoning. The beef was somewhat well cooked. I should have known this place would be a bad idea the minute I realized they also serve a small menu of Mexican food. You absolutely can't combine two different styles of dishes in one place unless you actually know how to do it well. Another clue I should've known, it was dinner time and it only had two customers eating.I'm very surprised and disappointed this place gave me bland food to go considering they have several locations like in Mahattan Beach and for that reason I blame not necessarily the restaurant but management who's in charge of training the cooks to cook good food. I'm sure this isn't how the food is supposed to taste. For me to take the time to write a review and tell people to skip this spot says a lot about what I was giving to eat. My total was around $45.00 dollars this evening and all I enjoyed was the salad and hummus on a plate they have name as the “protein plate”.
Bionicos Plus

Today i decided to stop by here with my kids, and nephews. I used to come here everyday in the mornings for my Green or Vampire juice, I have ordered trays of fruit in the past every time any family or friend would ask about a fruit or natural juice I would always with no hesitation, automatically recommend this location to them, today I had a very bad experience with a worker here, as I placed my order with her she seemed to be having a bad day from the start, she already had an attitude, I still ordered I asked if they still had regular scoop of ice cream's I did not see them upfront like before, she said yes and I placed a regular therapy blend number seven with almond milk, but as the order came up I noticed a weird drink, not what I usually order so I then asked and said excuse me I don't think this is what I order, it was supposed to be a number seven, her with a very rude voice and attitude responded that's why I asked you, and I said yes and even when you asked me I told you it was a therapy blend number seven, she rolled her eyes, I asked if they can please fix it and make it right I did paid and would like to get the drink I ordered so she kept on and another worker came to make it right. I myself work at a restaurant I understand we have bad days, I get it but it wasn't something they couldn't fix even if it was a misunderstanding, but why get loud disrespectful and give a horrible attitude to a paying customer. Just very disappointed over the treatment today .

The lady was nice... Even though she took long and not caz she was busy but because she was talking to her co-workers. I order the eskites which is corn in a cup.... I didnt like the fact that they had to put them in the microwave, that was telling me that either they were cold (hobiously) or more likely that they were not fresh.. might been a day or 2day old. Finally the cheese toasted bad like sour. Most likely expire. I will not go back for eskites to this place. But I might try a juice or something. They seemed good.

Bauhaus

Ive travelled far and wide, from Michelin starred restaurants to legendary local haunts, and yet nowhere on earth have I had a dining experience as phenomenal as Ive had at Bauhaus. The food is as fresh as it is original, often brought in shop the same day from the local farmers market or a shoreline if looking for seafood, with everything made right for you behind the bar counter in the worlds most magical little oven; how they make food ranging from pastrami banh mi sandwiches to honey covered garlic brie pastries is beyond me, but everything - everything - is exceptional. The beer and wine selection is robust with something for everyone, including house made red and white sangrias that feature fresh fruit in the glass. Hard to beat. But, what takes Bauhaus from merely being an excellent place to grab a bite to eat to being truly special are the people that infuse the space with love. Chef Tye and the hostess, Meara, make you feel as welcomed as if you were their closest friends and take care of you equally as well. Laughter and storytelling between patrons and them is a common occurrence and you just cant help but leave with a great big smile on your face, and at the heart of it all, isnt that what its all about? This place is not to be missed ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pops Cafe
7840 Florence Ave, Downey, CA 90240, United States
Its a very nice place. Its interior decor is interesting to look at and the ambience of the place is very much like the feeling of home. Arrived around 10am maybe waited around 20-25 min, as it was busy. Noise level was very high more than what Im use to maybe because its a smaller place and youre closer to others around you but just a heads up to those who arent high noise tolerant. As for the service, the service was very efficient, quick, and friendly. Food arrived at an orderly time. I ordered the spinach omelette with country potatoes and blueberry pancakes. The country potatoes were good a little salty but it had a nice flavor with the green bell peppers and onions. The omelette said it had swiss cheese and I LOVE cheese but honestly didnt expect it to be craft singles swiss cheese. Im a pancake person but I unfortunately couldnt love their pancakes it was just too bland for my palettes. Anyway, for the price of the food it was reasonable. However my review of this restaurant is in no way a negative one and more of a critical review. I do encourage others to go try this place out and leaving with your own opinion and experience as we are all different. If you happen to have read all this kudos to you. Have a nice day! ❤
Stewart & Grub
7380 Stewart and Gray Rd, Downey, CA 90241, United States
Food was delicious! The handmade drinks were really good (should have requested light ice). The menu had good options to choose from, though it was difficult to tell what was included on each because there wasnt much detail. The staff was friendly, but they seemed like they were in a hurry. My friend and I ordered separately, but the gave us our food at the same time without telling us which was which. I asked but it got confusing when they pushed out the drinks and I asked the same question. We ended up eating each others burgers. It may have been more helpful if they handed us her food and drink then handed me mine.It was a Thursday night and there was very little parking in the area, but we arrived when a guy in a small back ally was leaving. We also werent expecting outdoor seating, so we had to go back to the car after ordering so my friend could grab a jacket.I give it 4 stars because of how good the food was when we switched our burgers back. Once you know what to expect from this place, its a good place to eat.
Dirt Dog Downey
9414 Firestone Blvd, Downey, CA 90241, United States
After walking around the mall, we decided it was time for some delicious food! We looked around the area and was surprised to find Dirt Dog located down the street. We made our way over there and ordered almost everything!I haven't been to Dirt Dog in a while so we all decided to try something different. We got a patty melt, pastrami Dog and the newest addition to their menu the Snoop DOGG! We were also feeling a bit frisky so we ordered up some fries. The dirty fries were nicely seasoned, and the garlic fries were my favorite. The garlic sauce that came with the fries were amazing, I wanted to douse that sauce over everything. The pastrami dog was also really delicious, covered with so much meat, and that lobster bun is a must! The patty melt was really cheesy, and I loved the sauce. It had a wonderful flavor and the fries on top was actually a nice addition. The Snoop Dogg was probably my favorite. The barbecue sauce and slaw on top made it taste like a western bacon cheeseburger!By the end of our meal we were stuffed to the brim. But we had already ordered our Horchata ice cream, so we told our server we were ready, only to see that we weren't! The portions were huge! We must have received at least a pint of ice cream. The ice cream with that horchata syrup and walnuts, tasted super yummy. The churro was also delicious! If you are craving a dessert, I highly recommend their churros! If you're gonna go all out like we did, just make sure you have a party of at least 4 to 5!Always amazing food here at Dirt Dog. Super friendly staff, and very filling!
3rd Street Coffee
8221 3rd St UNIT 101, Downey, CA 90241, United States
I really wanted to love this place. My friend comes here all the time and raves about it. The coffee is okay. I got a dulce de leches coffee, and it was nothing but syrup and was not that great. The first time I came here they forgot to make my coffee and I waited 15 minutes for a coffee and a beagle with cream chesse which they did not add. I gave them a second chance. Mistakes happen no biggie. However I went back and they did it again. I waited about 8 minutes and had to remind them to make my coffee. The crazy part was it was not busy at all. I was the only person there. I hope if you go there you have good luck like my friend.
