Cute little place. There was no Hawaiian barbecue in the vicinity so this is pretty exciting! Service (your order and pick up at the same counter) was prompt and really friendly. And very importantly, prices are affordable for the quality and quantity you get. I got their regular chicken bowl (I believe its their number 10 on the menu), and the spring roll appetizer. The chicken was moist, tender, and super flavorful (tasted like it was marinated overnight), and had that amazing, grilled character to it. The fat was trimmed very carefully, and there is no skin. Both the protein and the rice were abundant. They give you some house made teriyaki sauce on the side and sriracha if you ask them. They also have salt and butcher grind black pepper. Now to the spring rolls, OMG!, they are freshly fried, not pasty at all, full of flavorful vegetables. They come with a side of sweet Thai chili sauce, but go very well with the teriyaki sauce as well. All in all, I give this place the five stars they deserve. Try it if youre a local or in the area. Heck, its even worth driving here for this food! They have many other options for vegetarians/vegans or pescatarians. Highly recommend!

Grano Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar

Ive lived in California for quite a few years now, having grown up in New York and my friend was born and raised in Italy. We have gone from place to place, looking for that Italian food we both missed from home. I swear, it got to the point where I thought my friend must be the only Italian in LA and we pretty much resigned ourselves that we would never find a place that cooks as good as his mother. Its just not going to happen. The dishes either had too much pepper, the sauce was too acidic or watery.... But then I found Grano. I immediately called my friend and told him YOU NEED TO COME HERE NOW!Handmade pasta, cheeses imported from Italy, delectable selection of wines... I died and went to heaven!I keep finding myself going back for more. And why not? The chef and his father greet you as if youre being welcomed into their own home. You certainly feel that way. The chef will proudly recommend dishes and adjust to your tastes or dietary concerns if needed. The staff are always on point - orders are taken and delivered promptly, glasses are always full, dishes cleared away and of course, the friendly smiles and small talk are most welcome to relax with a glass of wine on the patio after a long day.As for the food, I highly recommend the Alla Zia Clara with the meatballs that are oh, so moist and scrumptious. Veal Marsala is another favorite, with the first bite that has a slight crisp, but then the tenderness of the meat blended in with the marsala nearly forces you to pause and savor the moment. I would write about the Allo Scoglio, but my 9-year old confiscated all the mussels and clams off my plate for herself. The pasta that I did manage to have was a perfect al dente and the sauce so delicate and delicious. My daughters also a huge fan of the octopus, in which the chef takes the time to remove all the suckers for her before serving. So tender, you can cut it with a butter knife. Once Ive had the pizza here, I feel as if I am cheating if I dare think about having it anywhere else. Still undecided what to order? Ask about the special and you will not be disappointed.I have recommended Grano to anyone that will listen and have been told they had in fact gone back several times. Do yourself a favor.
Umebana (Old Maki yaki)
1362 Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
Any karaage fans out there? You wont be disappointed with Umebanas plate. I went with a friend and we were both pleasantly surprised by the flavor, quality, and generosity of portion here. I normally lunch at Janets Mediterranean at this location, but I have always wanted to try Umebana. I had that chance today, and after enjoying the food, I can wholeheartedly recommend them. Karaage is a type of fried chicken, Japanese style. They are served in bite-size pieces, which have a great outside crunch with a juicy meatiness inside. The seasoning was on point! The plate came with a good variety of tempura. The delicate light batter with a crisp texture was perfect. Sauces and dressings were all delicious. Give them a shot and suppory your local small business!
Janets Mediterranean Cusine

Updated 6/17/24Janet's remains one of the better Mediterranean restaurants in the area. Tried dine in and service and food was solid. My GF didn't love the beef because of the texture, which I understand was a bit off but chicken and lule kabob were on point.Platter for two was more than enough for us and had leftovers for the next day too. Great deal for about $35. Will be back for sure.——-A hit and miss my last few trips, but this time they nailed it and it was a delivery order which was surprising. Last time the meat was over cooked and dry. I also waited forever for my food and I even called ahead. This time I tried delivery and was such a different experience.Food was packed well and cooked perfectly. Salad was fresh and tasty. Hummus delicious. And pita fresh and warm. Rice was not my fave, but tasty. Just prefer the buttery Persian version at some other places. It did taste good, just not the style I prefer. The chicken and beef kebabs were top notch though. Very well cooked and seasoned. Definitely enough for two people to share. The garlic sauce wasn't my fave either, but not usually something I eat a lot of anyway. GF was disappointed though. All in all, an order I would place again. A little more consistency and an improvement here and there will kick it up to 5 stars, but a solid 4 stars for now.

Sushi Fire- Duarte
1723 Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
The next time you are craving for AYCE sushi, consider a new player that recently opened in Duarte, Sushi Fire. It is an outstanding option for three reasons: fresh seafood, exceptional service, and comfortable environment. The head chef at Sushi Fire is Alan, a former experienced chef from the Vegas MGM hotel. He currently splits time between Sushi Fire and Sake Roll in Glendora. Chef Alan is a master at fusion-style sushi, evident in the unique set of sushi sauces that he personally prepares from scratch and his extensive list of creative rolls. What features distinguish Sushi Fire from other Japanese fusion AYCE sushi restaurants? Its Chef Alans meticulous attention to the types of fish he sources with oversea origins, precision in slicing fish uniformly before laying it on a ball of perfectly moist rice, and high standards of artistic presentation. Fish is only sliced to order at Sushi Fire, which is an essential aspect of the sushi experience that many fusion sushi restaurants ignore. I think that the combination of Sushi Fires strengths is hard to find in LAs fusion sushi restaurants. Customers should pay attention to the quality and fresh ingredients used, and look beyond the term fish to rice ratio to appreciate what Sushi Fire has to offer. The food at Sushi Fire was very similar to my past two visits at Sake Roll. See my previous evaluation on the Sake Roll Yelp page. My favorites today were the naked hamachi that featured a persistent sweet finish, the cajun albacore with a pronounced smoky body and a sweet finish from the sauce, and the salmon that was buttery soft to chew and velvety smooth on the lips.
Youngs Gourmet
1340 E Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
Id read all the 5 star reviews and decided to give Youngs Gourmet a try. We ordered Flaming Pu Pu platter, Rainbow Chicken and House Special Chow Mein. The food smelled amazing in the car on the ride home. Once we got home and began to eat said food, it was a totally different story. Seriously, the worst Chinese food I have ever experienced!!! Most of the items in the Pu Pu Platter were just not palatable. The meat on a skewer was tough or overcooked/burnt or both- did not even remotely taste like beef to me. Fried shrimp and egg rolls had very minimal flavor. BBQ spareribs were burnt and dried out. Chow Mein had little to no flavor- very bland. Not sure if we actually got Rainbow chicken but whatever it was it had very little taste except white pepper. We ended up tossing most of it because it was that bad. $42 was a high price to pay but, lesson learned, wont be back. Really disappointed. Alot of folks seem to enjoy their food but I cant honestly say we did. Good luck.
The Habit Burger Grill
1155 E Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
The first time I had Habit Burgers (or “Portobello Charburger with avocado and bacon”) was here at this restaurant. I gotta say… pretty fantastic burger. Yeah, you have other burger options but Habit is pretty damn good for a comparable price. This specific restaurant has great staff and you can tell they care about what they give you. If you go to another burger place and look at what they give you versus what they look like on the menu… not even close. I specifically took a pick of my food because it looks just like advertised… I mean that's what it is about right. If you're looking for a great burger meal, albeit fast food, check these folks out. It was down right delicious and I felt like I got what I paid for… unlike others you might go to. To top it off, clean, pleasant atmosphere with music playing in the background and not noisy at all. I could have a conversation. Weird. This is my second time here and they nailed it again. Good job. Whenever I'm in the area and need to eat… this is the place. Thanks.
Cabreras Mexican Restaurant
1856 Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010, United States
This was my 1st time to this location. The older lady with the jet black hair was there. She was so preoccupied. We were offered a booth. She sat us at a table for the mean time. As she was taking our order, she walked away to go outside to talk to another customer, asking us to wait. She yelled across the place to tell him to wait while in the middle of our order and proceeded out the door. We were offered guacamole far before we were offered a drink. Your guacamole is not worth $9. I ordered straight vodka which was a horrible drink. I watched the server, if you can call her that, give the next two parties the booths that became available. When the server finally came back around I asked what happened to our booth and she asked us to wait again. I told her that she already gave the 2 booths away to people after us and I was ready to leave. The best part of her job was bringing me the bill. Worst $30 Ive spent at a restaurant in a while. Definitely will not be returning to this place. The bar next door had better drinks and customer service and I will definitely return to that place. By the time the bus boy/server guy came around, it was far too late. I had told him her service was horrible and wed be leaving. He did nothing to try to make us to stay. Your Pasadena location has better customer service and even with that being said I havent returned there either. The sad part is that I remember when the 1st location in San Gabriel opened. A long time ago. This place is very far from what customer service should be. I still tipped her $5 which was $5 more then she was worth. Your mediocre crowd is as good as youll ever be and I thought that youd be the best for a city that doesnt offer much. Was I really sat in front of the mens bathroom door? GROSS.
