Napoleones Pizza House
619 National City Blvd, National City, CA 91950, United States
I have eaten here once or twice over the last couple years and I like thier pizza. I dont remember if Ive had any of thier pasta dishes though. Its Saturday evening at 630. I walk in and the place is practically empty. I expected it to be a little busy being a weekend, and new years weekend to boot. Anyway. I sit down and service is quick, cool. Friendly and polite double cool. So good service. I look at the menu and settle on spaghetti with Italian sausage. 19.00 + 7.00 extra for the sausage. So 26.00 for a plate. A bit pricey. Will comment on the quality after I eat.Ok, so it was a good size portion. Which is cool if there were 2 of us. And no half portions on the menu. So bad for menu choices. The noodles were not drained very well so the water ended up diluting the sauce making it bland. Then I realized I order sausage with it and didnt see it. Then as I probed the pasta with my fork I saw it was a sausage patty. I dont know, maybe Im picky. Ive eaten in many of the major cities in the US and I have never seen this. Strikes me as pretty low end culinary aesthetics. Have the plate is appearance. So I had tasteless sauce on a sausage patty over soggy noodles. Great pizza, but I wont ever order thier pasta again. A 12.00 dollar meal for 26.00.When the server asked me how I was doing I politely told her my concern. I was nice because she was really nice and her service was good. In the end she discounted my dinner even after I told her not too. I would pay the full price. But she did anyway. I left her a decent tip. This place is a local landmark. 60+yrs. I know quite a few native national city folks. Not kids, but seniors who were here in its N.C.s heyday. And everyone knows the place.
Taco Bell
1737 Sweetwater Rd, National City, CA 91950, United States
On Sunday, October 1st, I ordered 2 regular tacos and one chicken enchilada burrito (w/out rice). When I picked up the burrito, it flopped over as though it was just a folded up tortilla.I opened the burrito to find that it only contained sauce, sour cream, a bit of cheese and 3 tiny chunks of chicken. It was essentially empty. When I took the burrito up to the counter to show the supervisor, she simply took it from me, walked away and return to the back. I received no verbal response from her at all. After a minute I called out So..... are you remaking it or giving me a refund or....?. No response.I returned to my table to eat my tacos (which were getting cold at that point) and a few minutes later the supervisor called out to me from the counter and pointed to a burrito on a tray. I went to the counter and asked if there was rice in the burrito and advised my order was for no rice. She responded that there was rice and that she had no way of knowing that I didnt want rice. I told her that she had simply taken the previous burrito from me and walked away. She didnt say a word and did not respond when I asked if she was making another burrito or getting me a refund.I told her that had she said she would remake my burrito I would have told her no rice but since she did not communicate what she intended to do, I had no idea that I needed to communicate my order. At this point, the rest of my party was finished with their meal so I asked for a refund and the supervisor told one of the other workers to give me a refund. The young lady was unable to open the register (which she did not communicate to me - I figured it out) and asked the supervisor for keys. The supervisor pointed her to an office but the young lady came out and said she couldnt find them.At this point, I advised the young lady that I wanted to finish my last taco before it was completely cold, pointed out where I was sitting and asked her to call out to me when my refund was ready (my table was near the counter). She agreed and I went to finish my food.I finished my taco and we waited another five minutes and I still had not heard anything. My party was tired of waiting so I returned to the counter and asked how much longer I was expected to wait for $2.71. The young lady said I forgot and then we had to wait for her to find keys to get my refund...... AGAIN!I realize Taco Bell isnt some four-star restaurant and I understand human error, but the rude behavior, complete lack of communication and expecting a customer whom you have wronged to wait 15 additional minutes while their food is getting cold demonstrates the worst possible description of customer service.I will never return to this location.

Ok, so hear me out on this. Paolo is into to something here. Wow! I am a sushi snob and would never have thought that Mexican and Sushi fusion would work. Boy was I wrong. This was some of the best sushi I have ever had outside traditional Japanese sushi. The facade and interior has a little left to be desired. I almost didn't enter as I was clutching my pearls concerned for the safety and security at this location. They need to clean up the former 7-11 facade and make their interior a little more cozy. The place is obviously short staffed and a start up. I want to see them succeed, though! With some attention to interior decorating they could really have an all round 5 star joint here. Also for the price this value is great!
La Flamme Franaise

This was a new spot for me to try, I was looking for a healthier option in the food court. I had gone around & around & this kind woman was offering free samples of their flatbread. It was delicious, tasted fresh, and then I saw their salad options! Its based on French cuisine, which Ive never tried before. It was so delicious full of fresh ingredients that all paired well amazingly ? I loved it! I enjoyed being able to try French cuisine at the food court!Ill be back for sure !
Nandri Indian Cafe

Best biryani Ive had in the US and this is coming from someone who ears biryani every single weekend. Out of this world! Closest taste to swahili biryani which is the best biryani IN THE WORLD!!! My group of friends had an amazing time. This family is extremely friendly, their customer service is superb and Angel is the most humble chef Ive met. Quite literally home made food but by a great chef. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. The tea was also amazing. I will eat here everyt this I visit San Diego and I cant wait to bring my husband to Nandri. Thank you for the wondeeful, cheerful music and for making our bride feel special. Best experience Ive had at a restaurant ever! I hope your business thrives for a long time.
PHO 7 COW

First of all... this place is the bomb. Kinda like Don t judge the book by its cover thing. Outside it looks like a small place but when you come in inside was a huge place to eat, very clean, and restroom was huge and clean too (thats a A++). I think the mirror of a good restaurant is the restroom...where u know it is a clean place.2nd, customer service is also excellent. I have been to a lot of vietnamese restaurant, and sad to say that mostly crews are little rude, but not in this place... i will give this ppl ??3rd, they have vegetarian options in their menu!!! For me that is a big wow! Not a lot of pho place has it. So, thats another ?. I ordered vegetarian pho... and it was tasty. Not too salty, nor not too bland either.Overall, i will be coming back for more. This will be my go to place for pho. ?

Pho Mai Cali & Grill
1635 Sweetwater Rd h, National City, CA 91950, United States
I dont normally write reviews but I felt compelled to write one based on service, food, accuracy of order, knowledge, and most of all the 4.7 rating (should be 4.7 out of 10). We ordered 3 pho noodles (2 large shrimp with extra shrimp and veges and 1 small combo) and a spring roll. Not a complicated order IMO. We get the 3 pho noodles and wait for the spring rolls which are nowhere to be found. We get a garnish for the pho that is barely enough for 1 small pho. I had to literally ask twice for more from the foodrunner and he gave me a funny look for whatever reason. I also asked about the spring rolls and they were still clueless. Both of the large shrimp pho with extra shrimp had 5-6 shrimp (not sure I would call the 6th a shrimp). When I ask if mine was with extra shrimp they didnt know. When I asked about how many shrimp come in the large shrimp pho they still didnt know. BTW, the shrimp pho does not come with veges. They server came to our table twice (once for the order and once on the tail end of our food coming out when we cancelled the spring rolls and extra shrimp). We ate, cashed out, and left. I was excited about eating pho and at this place but it was quite a let down. Needless to say, we probably wont be revisiting. The terrible service, cluelessness, accuracy of order is just not worth it. I was, honestly, left in awe. The pho is decent. It needs to be a hell of a lot better to overcome the other issues.
Green Vine Delicatessen

I really wanted to like this place. I really do. But the lack of basics in a dining experience definitely turned me off.Upon first coming in, I enjoyed the atmosphere of everything, but did notice a couple of the tables that were left empty were unattended to. An employee had bussed a table and dropped a sauce cup on the floor and remained there for the majority of my experience. The table that I had sat at was still dirty and was left with crumbs. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to being fairly busy and that they would at least clean it up once my food had arrived. They sat down my food (an omelet), which looked great and there was plenty, but tasted quite average. The price is less than IHOP and Dennys, but still left me looking for more. I had not been offered any water to go along with my food either.Granted they do offer tons of coffee and smoothies, but I did not care for it and wanted just some water. I ate my food quickly and left as I was disappointed with my dining experience. To top it all off-- they use the clover system, which for the uninitiated, asks for a tip after a purchase. Normally I am whatever about it and dont mind tipping at all, but it felt weird to me that they offer a dine in experience which isnt exactly fast food, and offer none of the actual experience.I might give them another chance, but I cant say I was impressed.
Titas Kitchenette
2720 E Plaza Blvd E, National City, CA 91950, United States
2022 update: This place looks like it has cleaned up quite a bit, the tables and chairs look newer and they have water and to-go containers set out for customers. I've eaten here a couple times in the past year and it was pretty satisfying. Their lumpia and bbq are both great, and their sisig is solid too. Would not fault anyone giving them a 3-star and above. I look forward to going again and would recommend.Original:I actually ate here a few months ago, but Im not gonna lie, this place reminded me of a dirty gas station bathroom. The only thing that made me give this place A star was that their portions were decently sized. The place barely looked clean and needs to be renovated. If the place looks that dirty, how do you think they treat the food? Im all for divey, but not dirty-looking. I brought a girl here based on the 4-star yelp reviews, but I may as well have taken her to eat in a subway station bathroom in New York. Taking someone to this place actually made me feel ashamed to be Filipino. Id rather Google a recipe and BBQ some chicken skewers myself than coming back to this place, even for take-out. After looking at some other reviews that mentioned people getting food poisoning from this place, I think I lucked out just having to tolerate a dirty, shabby restaurant.Eff this place, seriously, what are you 3-star reviewers and above thinking? Some of the high reviewers mention duct-taped seats and workers could use some manners but still giving the place 4-stars on their review? Some other people say it replicates the Manila street food experience, but who immigrates to a first-world country and wants a third-world dining experience?
