Vege Valley Restaurant
250 W Valley Blvd UNIT B-2, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
I really like this place. They are still open after pandemic crises. Hubby is vegetarian and loves this place. Weve only found two 100% vegetarian restaurants in the area. This is the better one. Great selection. Great taste. Great food and great service. Price is affordable. Phone order for take out is available.

Young Dong Tofu House
927 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
* Selection/Price— This place has a great selection of Tofu soups from beef to seafood. They offer multiple dishes as well as meal combos (tofu soup + entree). They also have side orders if you'd like Spicy Korean Rice Cakes (Ddeokbokki), steam dumplings and the like.Soda comes in cans, but they provide you a paper cup with ice to pour it in— straw included.Be prepared to clear out the table of your personal belongings because the food tends to be served on multiple or large dishes, plates, and bowls.I got the steamed dumplings (2/5) - It was cold when it arrived and definitely didn't taste how I had expected. The picture on the menu showed dumplings in a steamer basket, so I expected piping hot dumplings, so this was disappointing, unfortunately, but the rest was good.I also got the Chicken Katsu curry and it did not disappoint. The curry was $17.99 and was plain (it just came with the Katsu, rice, and curry— no potatoes or anything else cooked in).It was HUGE.It came with about a cup and 2/3 rice, flattened and two big servings of chicken curry (see picture). The curry was great and wasn't salty— it was perfect for me.The rice was cooked really well, soft but there was texture. It was good!* Employees/Service— The service was okay. They didn't seat us until our whole party was there, which was understandable. They were attentive, though for some it seemed like they were rushing a bit while we ordered. My family tends to be into small talk, and if they're busy, it may feel like they're trying to get away from the conversation.Nonetheless, they were nice. One of their staff had seen my sister come in multiple times to dine in and he was pleased to be there to serve us.They had thought that we were Spanish-speaking, so he was sent to our table (we're Filipino), and our table had a fun time conversing with him with what little Spanish we knew and the English he was able to use.I wish I could have gotten his name, he was the best one out of the ones who handled our table last night! He was all smiles!* Ambience/Cleanliness— The place was clean. They have a little set up outdoors even though they also served food inside. They have heaters near the tables and provide a notice on the table that it has been sanitized. The tables come with a staff buzzer in case you needed them, but we don't like to use those.Even then, they servers came promptly and they were always checking outside in case people needed something. The whole dining experience was smooth from start to finish.* Time in Line/Wait Time— The rest of our party came about 15 minutes after my sisters and I did, and we weren't seated until they arrived, which was okay. There was a waiting area there, but I didn't know whether that was for the restaurant or for Diamond Bakery. We proceeded to take a seat on the bench anyway. It didn't take too long for them to tell us the table was ready once we've let them know that we had a complete party.Favorite thing: The place was very comfortable and Katsu was good!Least favorite thing: The steamed dumplings. I felt like seeing a steam basket full of dumplings and being served cold ones is kind of false advertisement.Overall impression: Food was pretty good, ambience was great, safety measures were pretty solid. We will be back again, I'm sure.

A Ri Rang Tofu House
529 E Valley Blvd #128, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Originally wanted to go to Jazz Cat, but the line was incredibly long - we headed over to A Ri Rang Tofu House instead: warm food, good banchan, no wait definitely made for a pretty good meal.Service isnt the greatest here as the workers all seem super busy and barely have a second to pause by the table as you request for more banchan. But we were immediately seated and able to order within a few minutes, which meant that food came out of the kitchen in about 10-15 minutes. Not bad at all!All my friends and I ordered the combination tofu soup except for one friend who got the chicken broth instead. We also had an order of galbi ribs to share. Banchan was pretty impressive - I really like seaweed, so I was super happy that A Ri Rang served an unlimited amount of the tangy seaweed sidedish. They also had kimchi, broccoli, beansprouts, potato, tofu, and pickled spicy cucumbers. And of course the salad. All of the side dishes really got our stomachs ready for the tofu soup and galbi.Combination beef and seafood soup was not too bad. Each of my friends ordered a different spiciness level (I had mild, one had medium, another ordered hot). I preferred my mild the most as I could really taste the soup flavor. With the spicy soups, I really couldnt taste much of the soup - overall, not too bad. I think Young Dong gives a bit more seafood and other ingredients in their soup, but I liked the overall flavor enough. Cant complain. As for the galbi - it was a bit on the smaller side considering the price. I think we were only given like 5-6 pieces, which really isnt worth the price point. The taste of the meat was good! But the portion size is pretty lacking. My friends chicken broth was a winner. Very natural - perfect if youre feeling under the weather, want something warm, or want something healthy. Had the entire chicken in the broth as well as lots of green onions, ginger, and other ingredients. Tasted perfect on a chilly night.Located in Sunny Plaza - parking isnt too tough to find.tl;dr - Overall, Im glad I got to try A Ri Rang. Its a pretty decent tofu house, but I think I prefer Young Dong to this. Side dishes were good, and they do give you rice in a stone pot - I really like digging into the sides of the pot for the crunchy rice. Would come back again if I was in the area.

This is a wonderful little (Guyanese?) restaurant in a food mall (super cool) in San Gabriel. Jam packed with flavor, my boyfriend and I got the vegan curry with roti and vegetarian patty. This was such a wonderful meal and I’m so happy to have found this only 15 minutes from Los Angeles. Will absolutely be back and highly recommend!

Pulcianos Deli & Cafe
327 S Mission Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Story of me having perfect sub.first time at pulcianos was yesterday.mike and his staff were open and friendly. mike recommended the mafia special. i asked him if i could have a pepsi with the meal, but to add it to my thermoses as i was a driver and the holders would keep it cooler.he filled both of mine at no cost.at this point i told him he was good proprietor.i went outside to eat the sub.it is the first perfect sub i have eaten.the bread was soft but with a crisp crust.they used just enough olive oil to allow the different meats, cheese, and lettuce and tomatoes each to be tasted without being runny.the hardest thing to do is have avocado added. usually it is too lumpy or runny.at pulcianos it was the best, the sandwich was itself well assembled, but the two dollops of avocado fell to the side when i ate the sandwich i was able to scoop them up with my finger as they had good form.after i finished, I went back inside to tell mike that he was a great proprietor.

Yama Seafood LA
911 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91775, United States
This place is a dream and a gem disguised as a hole in the wall independent seafood market. Its been my best kept secret of where I can get my better than restaurant sushi grade quality fish. Now, this place doesnt make rainbow rolls and different types of rolls etc. The only rolls you will see ate the simple seaweed wrapped mini rice n salmon rolls, cucumber rolls, avocado rolls and tuna rolls. They also have some cooked fish mini rolls etc. All wrapped by seaweed on the outside. Lots of items from Japan and items you would find at an Asian Supermarket or regular grocery store IF youre lucky. California Rolls? Lets just say theyre quite large more than avg and sell out in MINUTES. All rolls are never by customer order. Its only what they have available and put out.Now lets get to the star of this; the sushi grade fish. There is a LONG LINE. EVERY DAY. 100% WORTH THE WAIT. The avg. wait time is around 8 min per person in line. If there are people in front of you expect to wait at least an hour. It is only done by one expert and no one else. The other 2 gentleman are there assisting in either making fresh sushi rice, making rolls for the deli case and/ or helping keep the area sanitized. Now the fish; Ranging from different country region of Salmon (e.g., Scottish, Norwegian, etc.) Blue Fin Tuna, Ahi Tuna, Yellow Tail, etc. There are different sized portions behind the glass counter (picture a deli). You pick which portions of which kinds and the kind Ser will ask if you want them sliced as they will be wrapped with a lemon slice and a serving of wasabi. The cashier will put a lil mini bag of ice on top of each fresh serve to keep it fresh before you get home.My best advice is to arrive early as opening time of 11am. Place closes at 7pm except that at least by 3pm all rolls are sold out and hopefully the latest by 5pm sold out. Fish is served till closing. You will wait and theres nothing that can be done to speed things up. Show any disrespect and you will get a lot of silence and glares from the respectful community. Show respect and patience, as you will be served when your turn is up. They have sushi ware dishes, sake cups, bottles. This place does honest pricing more than a restaurant would. Only difference is you wont get fancy rolls here. Just real sushi grade quality seafood. Its the #1 place to go to if you plan on making your own rolls. Guaranteed. Its super jam packed busy. Every day. Good luck!

Golden Deli San Gabriel
815 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
It is safe to say that Golden Deli is the most authentic and delicious Vietnamese food I have ever had the pleasure of trying.Came here with a few buddies on a Saturday around 3pm and was able to be seated after 10-15 minutes. If you wait until later, expect to wait in long lines.Once you sit down, they tend to you immediately and they'll keep checking on you at least 5-10 times throughout your meal which I appreciate in a busy place like this where you constantly want to add more and more to your order and refill your drinks! We went all out and started with a few appetizers of egg rolls, multiple bowls of pho, and dinner plate entrees. The egg rolls are different than any I've had prior. They are giant rolls that are blistered on the outside to keep it super crispy on the outside, but soft and flavorful on the inside. They are so addicting we had 3 orders of them. It is highly recommended that you wrap with mint leaves and the lettuce they give you and dip it in your small bowl of broth with carrots. You will NOT be disappointed if you do so!The shrimp paste had me hesitant because of the word “paste” but it is nothing like that. The best way I can describe is is ground shrimp cooked in oil and formed to perfection. The #89B dinner plate was just as fantastic. It comes with egg rolls, shrimp paste, and grilled beef. Lots of good flavor, highly recommend adding some of the side sauces they provide at the table to fit your liking. The Pho we had was the icing on the cake. I enjoy having a nice broth or a soup at the end of a meal to “fill the cracks” lol. The broth was extremely flavorful and not too salty and the meat was tender and delicious. Add chili oil to it as you please if you like a little more kick.I have absolutely no complaints when it comes to this spot. I highly recommend to anyone who loves or wants to try authentic Vietnamese food!

Stuffed Sandwich
1145 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Prices are reasonable for huge sandwiches! The owner was great and was greeted well. They have wifi and a open patio. First thing I noticed was the different beers on tap and what a selection they have and month to month I guess switch out. I found one of my favorites which is Pliney the Elder and the last place I would think to find that one tap would be a sandwhich spot lol after a few cold ones on the patio I Dabbled into the meatball sando and was pretty impressed by it cant wait to try some other sandwiches. They have all homemade potato salads and mac salads. The Decor is pretty neat to look at as well. Found my new daytime spot when I wanna have a cold 1 on the patio with a awesome sandwhich

Tozai Foods Market
8147 W Arroyo Dr, South San Gabriel, CA 91770, United States
New location at a new store!Small local market with limited hours.Def a spot where you grab lunch and some essentials. They have assorted lunches and meals packed to-go! So delicious. Everything I have gotten here has hit the spot. From futomaki, chirashi, to oyako-don -all very yummy! They carry mochi from Fugestu-do.What you won't know until you go, items are limited and you gotta go right before peak times to get the best variety. I came after the lunch rush on a weekday and they didn't have too much cold sushi. They items that always seem to be in stock are the spam musubi, onigiri, and rice plates. If you love fried wontons- get the spicy crab fried wontons!! I got this on my last trip and for like $1.80 I got at least 5 or 6 fried wontons with imitation crab inside. The best part? It was actually crispy when I got home! I was expecting it to be stale and soft since they were sitting out but nope! I regretted not buying them all up!

Chong Qing Special Noodles
708 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Overall great experience. This restaurant offers authentic Chong Qing flavors. If you are a fan of the numbing spicy flavors, this is a place to be. I am vegetarian and I enjoyed the tomatoes egg noodles. The texture of the noodles is great - on the harder side if you are looking for something softer- might not be for you. It’s almost like undercooked but I think that’s just the style of the noodles. The cold jelly noodles was okay. The flavors are there but the jelly isn’t the best. They gave us the drooling chicken for free since we are a party of 6 - it has the same numbing spicy flavor.
