I wandered into this place wanting an Iced coffee. There was a good variety of options on the blackboard. I proceeded to order the Mexican cocoa. The size of the drink was good for the price. However, once I took the first sip... YUCK!!! It had this horrible flavor and after taste. Knowing what mexican cocoa tastes like I know that this wasnt it. The fact that I had to pay for whip cream is a joke. If you want a good flavored coffee then go to the liquor store in town and purchase a cold premade coffee. Now to customer service, the young woman tending the counter wasnt very friendly. In fact it seemed like I was inconveniencing her. Not good for business at all. I do not recommend this place for coffee.

Arrowsmiths Wine Bar

Visited this place on a chilly December evening. The gas burner by the outside tables along with the cute decor was more than enticing. The place is run by a friendly and interesting English couple Anna and Tim who now call Solvang home. There was a vast selection of wines and if youre unsure what to choose, Anna and Tim are excellent at guiding you through the options to suit your palate. Due to Covid restrictions to have food with your wine order so I had a mixed plate tapas style of fruit, olives, hummus, sundried tomatoes arugula lettuce, cheese and artisan bread.. it was a perfect meal to accompany the amazing wine. I also discovered they serve cider, so I had to try one, for any cider drinkers I strongly recommend it. They also have beer on tap for those who are non-wine drinkers. This place is suitable for a date night or a wine sampling session, and in more normal times - a small social gathering. There is every attention to detail and its a lovely place to spend some time. Ill definitely be back here. Recommend!!!

Re write. The tapas dish we ordered was amazing. However the three small crostini's don't really provide the ability to finish the dish. So naturally we asked for more and we were immediately offered crackers vs just offering more. Mentioning anything about it being extra just felt like being nickeled and dimed. Just was off as if frustrated with us and based on your response to my original review maybe it was us at the large table and you turning people away since we were sat. The original server is where the coldness came from. If you Jason who brought the extra crostinis was extremely personable. There's lot of great reviews on here and in all fairness we didn't get to truly experiencing all that your restaurant has to offer. Someday…Really was waiting 20 minutes for 3 toasted slices of bread pictured with this review or even crackers offered originally is what was frustrating only because the dish was delicious and we just had to wait to finish it.We weren't having a bad day. Maybe in retrospect after your largest table was offered to us (we didn't ask to be sat there) and we only wanted drinks before dinner there was some frustration, all of which we mentioned prior to being sat.Sorry you had to turn larger parties away but that wasn't on us. Turn the 3 people with dogs away next time on your busiest weekend or don't sit us at your largest table.I was harsh in my original review for something so trivially small and after thinking I even contemplating deleting the review. However the tapas was amazing again and wine we had. I changed everything for a better reflection and appreciate your response not many places respond.

First & Oak

I came here with my mother when she was in town to celebrate, and it was probably one of the fanciest restaurants either of us had been to. The servers were excellent and attentive, and each course came at a comfortable pace, it didnt feel like they were too fast or to far between. The detail put into each plate was amazing! They also have a vegetarian menu if you make a note on your reservation, and everything from that selection was delicious as well!

Don Nachos Caf

We just ate at this place. We paid with a debit card then we went to walk around and some officers confronted us saying that the restaurant told them that we paid with a stolen card. The officers spoke kindly to us but we had a very bad time. We had to verify that we made a transaction. The bank does not explain what happened. Dont trust this restaurant, we dont know what really happened. If you eat at that place you dont pay by card. We canceled ours but they are not trustworthy people. Pay in cash.

peasants FEAST
487 Atterdag Rd, Solvang, CA 93463, United States
This is one of the best restaurants on the central coast, rarely do restaurants have vegetarian options that are flavorful and satisfying, but the Mac & cheese, and veggie stack are stellar. These folks really care about what they do and its clear to see through both the food and the kind service.

Copenhagen Sausage Garden

Really loved this place simply for the effort put in to having vegetarian options. I get it, its a sausage place and that theme isnt exactly correlated with meat free menus, but that doesnt mean vegetarians dont find themselves here. They also did something no other restaurant has done for me by separating the meatless sausage from those with meat. If you purposely avoid foods like pork, the last thing you want is contact with your vegetarian food. The beer floats here were also incredible and the large selection of mustards including cranberry mustard was very fun to dabble in!

The Mirabelle Inn
409 1st St, Solvang, CA 93463, United States
[Spent 2 nights and had dinner Sunday night. Ive split up the review accordingly.]B&B side: Room is... very old school, but amenities are all there. Bed was nice, though again, old school. Felt like Id slipped through some kind of portal to Stars Hollow. Staff were exceptional, with easy check in and friendly service across the board. Breakfast was pretty good, though its tight quarters, but you cant argue with $5 mimosas. Overall, room was nice, and I had a nice stay. As for dinner...Restaurant: Dinner was great. Romantic, cozy dining room, with excellent, personal service. Dinner service didnt feel at all rushed. Menu is small, but has something for everyone, from steaks to seafood, to vegetarian options. Everything we had, from the salad to dessert, was great. Now, if you dont drink, Im so sorry. The wine list is phenomenal. Everything from stellar $35 bottles to some really special $250 selections. Somm will point you to something good, and you dont have to break the bank (unless you want to...). The $20 corkage isnt crazy, considering the level of service, and they stock quite a bit of local wine. Mirabelle also carries some great ports, worth a chat with the somm even if you arent a huge port fan.Worth a stay, but the restaurant is amazing. If you have to choose between dinner and a room... Solvang has some pretty nice park benches.

Whiskey N Rye Smokehouse
442 Atterdag Rd, Solvang, CA 93463, United States
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Dinner at Whiskey N Rye was incredible! We had the Brisket Dirty Fries, Cast Iron Cornbread,Fried Pickles, the BBQ Sampler Trio, with Three Cheese Mac n Cheese, the Garlic Smashed Fries, and Coleslaw as sides, the Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie with McConnells vanilla Bean Ice Cream for dessert, and for drinks we had a Henry Weinheard Root Beer and Orange Cream Soda, a Fig Mountain Citrus Shandy from the Beer selection, and The Atterdag, from the Craft Cocktail selection. Oh my goodness! All were incredible! The smoked brisket, waffle fries, and Gouda had me at hello on the dirty fries, but then became even more out of this world with its mozzarella, green onion, and oh my gosh, the pickled red onion and chipotle cream sauce! It was honestly difficult to maintain conversation with our dinner party because it was so commanding of my tastebuds! So delicious! The cornbread was super yummy, too! The Fried Pickles were the absolute best weve ever had, a must order! I cannot emphasize that enough! The BBQ Sampler Trio was heavenly! The brisket, ribs, and pork were mouthwatering delicious! The BBQ sauce was delicious, too, and I am still dreaming about that Carolina Gold Sauce that comes with that Sampler Trio! The sides we had with the trio were the Three Cheese Mac, Coleslaw, and the Garlic Smashed Fries we amazing! My husband doesnt like coleslaw and he loved the coleslaw at Whiskey N Rye! I couldnt believe my eyes! He kept going back to it! All the sides were wonderful! The drinks we ordered were fantastic! My husband loved the Fig Mountain Citrus Shandy beer, which was recommended by our server. Our son loved the Henry Weinheard sodas, and my Atterdag was fabulous and refreshing! The music was spot on and the ambiance was absolute perfection! We experienced much while in the area, but The Whisky N Rye will be bringing us back to Solvang, and to the wonderful bakeries and the cute little towns around it! Were already looking for time on our calendar to return! Thank you, Whisky N Rye, for making our experience so spectacular! Well see you again!

Hotel Ynez
2644 Mission Dr, Solvang, CA 93463, United States
First of all, I want to preface the fact that I have stayed at this particular hotel a few times and have stayed in many hotels in the Santa Ynez Valley (and surrounding communities), including their “sister” property, Skyview in Los Alamos. Although they may have slick marketing and interior design, their customer service is horrific, there are many issues that lie behind the façade. We generally overlook the small issues such as their undrinkable coffee (worst than a Midwest truck stop), their “no outside drink” policy when sitting around the firepits (Really? You know you're a vacation hotel in wine country, right?), and showers that leak everywhere… all of that is tolerable, although it deserves a few demerits at that price point. Thats not where the real problems lies...Sadly, during our most recent visit on October 22nd-24th, we encountered an issue that was very troubling. When reviewing my credit card statements on November 5th (roughly ~2 weeks later) we noticed that we were DOUBLE-BILLED for our stay. The grand total should have been $922.16 total for 2 nights, but I ended up getting charged a total of $1,844.62 over 3 different charges. Definitely not a “minor” billing error, but certainly something that can be corrected rather quickly.I immediately contacted the hotel regarding the error, and received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) blaming it on a “PMS issue” (Property Management System), and that the “issue is now resolved”, and I should be seeing my refund the following week. Remember, this is after the close of the books for the month of October, and about 2 WEEKS past our checkout.I then responded to him as to why they didn't notify their guests of this KNOWN double-billing situation – even just a simple email would suffice – and he didn't have an answer... he essentially kept blaming it on their booking provider (Amadeus).Hmm… so they knew they were double-billing customers, but neglected to resolve the issue until customers came forward to complain?!? Now, if you ask me, that's extremely shady. In any case, I let the issue go, assuming I would be refunded in the next week.Fast forward to over a month past our checkout (yesterday, November 29th). I was reviewing my credit card statements and noticed that I had never been refunded the $922.16. I also realized I'd never even had follow-up from the manager confirming if I indeed had been refunded. Again, very shady, and absolutely terrible customer service.I sent another email that night demanding my refund, and of course, no reaction. I sent another email today (November 30th) threatening to take this issue to the next level, at which time I finally I received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) saying that everyone had been refunded. Huh? Well, apparently everyone except for me, kind of like when they didn't notify me of the issue in the first place? Hmm, right, okay - got it!As of today, I am still not refunded the nearly thousand dollars I am owed. I finally lost my patience with their dishonestly and filed a chargeback. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else (there are many good, local hotels) when you won't need to scour your room changes, and you won't get in trouble for relaxing with some local wine around the firepit.
