Pho Huynh Hiep 5 - Kevins Noodle House
1833 Willow Pass Rd, Concord, CA 94520, United States
Well, Id like to start by saying the interior set up is quite clean. I have almost no complaints about the food. Its generic pho, its going to taste practically the same as other places. Now the reason for the one star. I came here with a party of 7. In a situation where the order taker spends 15 mins trying to take your order while reading it back to you twice is generally reassuring. However, after getting our orders read back to us, they somehow still got 3 orders wrong. Im a very forgiving person, I can forgive 1 or even 2 mistakes. This place managed to mess up 3 bowls. Not only in size and portion, but also the topping. The part that made me absolutely baffled, is when the person who carried out orders out said oh, we got that one wrong, could you eat it anyway? So ya, one star for lack of GOOD service. Thats really all I expect, just have decent service.I wont come back here. So this one star will stay without reconciliation.

Finding pho/vietnamese restaurants in Concord area is far and few between, so to find this gem filled with a hot, tasty, not salty beef broth Pho filled my tummy, the crab Rangoons were creamy & crispy, and shrimp spring rolls were fresh, and tasty just the right amount of chewy. ( We Ate so fast forgot the pics)Cant wait to try the bahn Mi next!!
Pho Lee Hoa Phat

This place is wonderful. The food is tasty and they give more than other Vietnamese restaurants in the surrounding areas. Not only that, but the price is pretty economic. I will definitely come back.
Saigon Bistro
1701 Willow Pass Rd F, Concord, CA 94520, United States
No frills Vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall in Concord. Our large group got seated quickly and enjoyed prompt service although the restaurant was quite busy on a Sunday night.Viet spring rolls, beef pho, vermicelli noodles, banh mi, and rice dishes - the menu offers exactly what you would expect. The food did not disappoint - decent portion size and overall good value.Glad to see this business is around for a while!

Great outdoor seating right on the corner. Delicious food that has gradients of Indian, Chinese, and Thai. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu but I recommend the Pumpkin Chicken (just in time for pumpkin all of the things). My personal favorite though is the House Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage. This takes me back to my childhood ala the animated movie, Ratatouille.Chinese sausage was my bacon growing up and its hard to find restaurants that serve it. Especially in this way which is pretty close to how mom and grandma made it.A surprise find - Garlic Noodles. Different from the Vietnamese dish. Medium flat egg noodles are used instead of the rounded chow mein variety, paired with a tangier garlicky sauce.
Veggie Today
1909 Salvio St, Concord, CA 94520, United States
100% vegetarian, mostly vegan, mostly tasty (4/5 Green Stars, also).Veggie today is pretty casual and brightly lit, so it has more of a café atmosphere than an intimate restaurant. We had four items and thought that two or three of them were good. The foo young appetizer was a highlight – it was large but not as heavy as other versions that I've had in the past, and had good flavor and a little crunch. The wonton soup was mixed: good flavor in the soup but maybe too heavy on salt (I was so thirsty after it!) and the wonton wrappers were a bit thick (but the filling was good!). The caramelized vegan chicken had good flavor and a nice chewy texture but the dish could have done with a bit more spinach (to justify being called a “bed of spinach” on the menu). The tamarind beef was our least favorite – it was just too sweet for both of us. But other people seem to love that dish so don't let me put you off ordering it; perhaps it's just me – I've rarely found a vegan “beef” dish that I love. Vegan chicken (or just good-old tofu) always seems like a better bet. Both of the protein dishes were pretty light on veggies (esp. the tamarind beef) so bear that in mind when ordering. I'd like to go back and discover some favorites.I'm also giving Veggies Today 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons:• As stated on their menu: 100% vegetarian.• Almost all items on the menu are vegan (check with your server). The wonton soup is specifically labeled on the menu as not vegan so I think there are only a few dishes that are not vegan.• As anyone who's trying to go plant-based knows, restaurants where you can order almost anything on the menu are a blessing for the movement!• No information about sourcing on the menu (e.g., is the tofu organic?). That's the main downside for me – I like my tofu to be organic, if possible (rice & veggies too).• Drinks are provided by Coke (so they could do better there, but they do have tea).• For people getting take-out, they use standard Chinese take-out boxes and plastic bags (a third area for improvement: compostable boxes and paper bags).Interested in writing green star reviews? Impression of Lanzhou
1657 Willow Pass Rd ste a, Concord, CA 94520, United States
Came on Mother's Day around 11am and luckily, we were able to get seated immediately for a party of 6 adults and 2 kids. You scan the QR code on the table, and order yourself. We ordered chili oil flat noodles, spicy pig ears, signature spicy wonton,Lanzhou beef noodle soup, braised beef noodle soup, numb and spicy minced pork noodles, signature beef bone noodle soup, and spicy cold cut beef. The flavors were on point, and they were generous with the potion of noodles they gave for each dish. We shared all the food family style and had a lot leftover. My personal favorites were the spicy wontons, pig ears, signature beef bone noodle soup, and braised beef noodle soup. The broth for the noodle soups definitely hit the spot for me. It was light, yet full of flavor. My family really liked the Lanzhou beef noodle soup and numb and spicy minced pork noodles. Basically, each and every dish we ordered was a hit for the table. The servers were attentive and food was served quickly. I would definitely come back again the next time I'm feeling some beef noodle soup.
Ozora Sushi Restaurant
785 Oak Grove Rd, Concord, CA 94518, United States
This is probably get best sushi Ive found in CC county thus far. Im spoiled as Ive come from South Bay/Alameda county area has an abundance of Asian population and tend to do Sushi for a fair price but high quality. Ive found that when youre in CC, you get good sushi for very expensive, not so great for expensive to moderately priced, or poorly made/caked in mayonnaise and spicy tuna or deep fried for moderately priced. Ive experienced so much of that and never found a great place until I ate at Ozora. This is nestled in a strip mall in Pleasant Hill, and open pretty late. They have happy hour from 9 pm to closing, where you can get a ton of food for less than $70... Including excellent sashimi.Last night they were off with the service. Im guessing its because there were two parties and the staff were running all over the place. However, they are usually very attentive and absolutely nice. They are also good with refilling your water and tea, which is great as I dont have to constantly look for someone.Food gets to the table rather quickly. We usually order sashimi ( huge pieces) and sometimes I order soup, which comes in a huge bowl and very good flavor, and on a occasion, Ive ordered the hamachi kama and the chicken and the short ribs. All very good and not greasy. Huge portions!Price is fair and isnt expensive at all.
Spicy Joi Banh Mi x Lao Street Food
1687 Willow Pass Rd, Concord, CA 94520, United States
I was so excited to try this place! Since I dont live in the area, I ordered a bunch of things to try. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. It was also pretty pricey for the portion size (and I get that costs are rising but quality and flavor wasnt there).NAM KHAO $15: One of my fav Lao dishes! This one was super sour - too much lime. The nam also wasnt that good. I love to eat it wrapped in lettuce and herbs but the rice was on top of the lettuce and the whole process was just messy.LAO SAUSAGE PLATE $15: These sausages are solid but so small. ? The sticky rice comes in a little plastic bag and the veggies its served with is blanched cabbage - nothing special. The pepper dip was also not spicy. Youre better off ordering sausages and sticky rice separately, and not as a combo plate.LAO PAPAYA SALAD $13: It was so salty so it wasnt enjoyable. :(RAW BEEF LAAB $18: I was happy they offered a raw option. However, it was so sweet for some reason. But since I also ordered it to be a little bitter, it was a weird oveal flavor. The meat was also cut so chunky so the overall dish was chewy. I did love that the dish was served with raw veggies - Thai eggplants, green beans, and cucumbers. Unfortunately the flavor just wasnt there.KHAO LOD SONG $6: One of my favorite coconut milk desserts! The little pandan strings were only okay. There was a mix of old ones (bigger pieces that were harder and stale) and new ones (firm but still soft in texture). :(Overall, Im glad I tried this place but I wont be returning. Theres better Lao food options in the Bay Area. Despite my experience, Im happy for this restaurant though and am glad they are offering Lao food to the local community. For those who have never tried Lao food, you all should still come try this place out. :)
