Nha Trang Restaurant
742 E Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91755, United States
Our favourite place for Vietnamese food in Monterey Park, family run. Their Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu are delicious and really huge portions. The bean sprouts and Thai basil are always fresh and clean. Both the fresh spring rolls and fried spring rolls are some of the best weve ever had. We often get take out and the portions are the most generous of any other Vietnamese restaurant weve been to in LA. There is street parking or a small lot in the back.

My wife grew up in Vietnam and we have tried probably 60 Vietnamese restaurants in southern California. She insists we go here.

Kim Tar Seafood Restaurant

The service was very poor ? Especially one of the older waiters. We have been here four times and unfortunately he served us twice. One of the times my husband asked him about L1 Hot and Sour Fish Soup (Thai/Vietnamese) What is the difference between Thai taste and Vietnamese taste? He said impatiently What do you want, be careful with your order without answering our questions. My husband has a good temper and doesnt care about his attitude. The fourth time we went, unfortunately, he served us again. Our ordering speed was not slow, and he was very impatient within these two minutes. When it was time to check out, I waved to him and said, Please pay, but he didnt respond at all, as if he didnt hear me. Five seconds later, he walked towards us, and I asked him, Please pay, but he still didnt make a response, I said it again and he was very impatient, I know, I know, let me see if there is anything that needs to be packed. Then he took our rice bowl away without asking. Later, my childs grandmother was about to feed the child another bite of rice, then she realized that there was no more rice. Whenever I talked to him, or asked questions. He yelled at us for no reason, which made me feel really angry. My husband told me that he may be in depression. Em, I don’t think this is a reason that he should be rude. Ps. I saw he was rude to others too. I think I will never be back to this restaurant again!

T.P. BANH BAO MONTEREY PARK
122 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
My girlfriend and I happened upon this place a few weeks ago. The first time we each got one bao, the next time two each, and then the time after that we just went for a whole tray to nosh on throughout the week.Everything we have had here is delicious. Her favorites are any of the options with eggs in them and mine are the original and the BBQ ones. We have yet to have the taro or custard ones, but I am sure that will change shortly. You also have the option of getting your bao fried, which is also fantastic.

Noodle City

What do you do when you are in the City of Monterey Park and you want some Noodles? Noodle City! Hey hey no booing! I tried. After hitting major Banh Mi Cali fatigue, it was time to give up $5 Pho and Buy-one-get-one-Free drinks and trade it in for a dollar more quality Pho and one drink for the price of one drink. Give me a break. I like Banh Mi Cali and cheap prices. Monterey Park, you are spoiled so dont give me crap. If I lived there, I would eat pho and Dim Sum everyday.. would I live there maybe not.. thats another review. Even though, Irvine is becoming Asiantown. Even the best pho places here are pretty weak. Before you discredit my Pho judging abilities, Im not Vietnamese, but there are a lot of horrible Pho places in Westminster also.. Just saying...Noodle City Vietnamese Restaurant! I have this theory about pho places. If the name has the world Pho in it. It will suck! And if it is a Vietnamese Restaurant that serves Pho its will be good. Pho 54, Pho 48, Pho King Way. I couldnt make that up its a real place. I thought the same thing No Pho-King Way. Remember to always look for places titled Vietnamese Food or best case scenario if your Vietnamese friends mom invites you over for dinner bring her flowers and give her hug, because you are eating better than 95% of Pho Restaurants.Noodle City is excellent. The Broth was very thick and meaty just the way I like it. Thats what she said. There was a decent amount of noodles and a lot of meat. Who needs a lot of noodles anyways? We are trying to stay Asian Skinny, right? The ice drinks were also good. The overall pricing was reasonable. Next time Im in the area, I will swing by Noodle City again (Pho Sho) and avoid the crazy parking and lines at Banh Mi Cali.Highly Recommended. Dont take my word for it.**Sidenote** I read a few reviews about bad service and I was laughing. This is Vietnamese food, right? Ha ha. Maybe its just me, but I choose food and never expect service. Speak up people!Having good service is not expected at a Vietnamese restaurants. If the services is good I would be worried, maybe they are hiding something :)

Mr. Baguette

Well, just another so so experience at an untrained, no management Vietnamese sandwich shop!!!If youre hungry and just wanted to get a sandwich to get by, then thats ok. But dont expect much from this place. Waiter wont smile at you. Its almost like they are doing you a favor. While we were there, another customer was with his family and wanted to use the restroom, and he asked for the key, the waiter looked at him suspiciously and asked are you a customer. This is so sad. He pointed to his table to prove that he is. Then I came up and asked for some extra napkins because they give you only one. Again she hesitated for a few seconds before reaching under the table, and took her time to hand me exactly one napkin. Talk about efficiency!!!We ordered some fruit drink on the menu, and she said they dont make it anymoreThe place is quite big, but if you look through the counter, they were all empty. Nothing in display as if they are moving out soon.Oh well, itd be hard to make me want to come back! So depressing to see a business in such a popular Asian community and dont want to improve itself.I honestly dont know how they stay in business all these years.

We saw that P P Pop had the typical Taiwanese dishes we enjoy, and with the fairly high rating we decided to try it out. Yelp had a waitlist option available but when we arrived, the Yelp iPad stand was turned off and we were given a paper number slip. So beware if you check in on Yelp - you might still need to check in person!- PARKING -Smaller lot that shares parking with a supermarket. We went around 1pm and the lot was full.- SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT -As mentioned before, we arrived thinking our Yelp check-in would allow us to be seated immediately but we still had to wait another 5-10 minutes for a table to be cleared off. The interior is quite snug, with not much room in-between each table seating. Service was quite quick throughout, we didnt wait long for our food after we ordered.- FOOD -Popcorn Chicken ($8.50): You get a decent amount of chicken! You can choose spice levels - we got mild but this was pretty spicy for being mild. It was tolerable but it definitely left a tingly feeling. Really crispy and crunchy, although there was a lot of crumb bits on the bottom without meat.Pan Fried Pork Bao (6pc - $10.50): Be patient and allow these to cool with a hole poked through or else youll burn your mouth with the hot meat juices inside! The ratio of Bao to Meat was pretty good and the flavor was yummy. I always like eating these with Black Vinegar and Chili Oil which they have on the table.Beef Roll ($12.99): This was probably my favorite dish out of everything we ordered. The pancake was nice and crispy and flaky, and the beef inside wasnt too dry. The hoisin sauce and other ingredients were perfectly balanced too!House Special Beef Noodle Soup ($13.50): This was definitely a dish we wanted to try, but it might have been the most disappointing out of everything. The beef was VERY tender, but that was the only part that stood out to me. The broth wasnt as flavorful as I thought it was going to be, and half of the noodles were clumped together on the bottom. We also added a preserved egg for $1.50, but it was just an over hard boiled egg with slight flavoring. The beef was definitely the star of this dish, and Im glad they gave a decent amount.- OVERALL -Pretty delicious meal overall, and the prices arent terribly high. I would recommend the Beef Roll for sure, and the other dishes would be good additions if you have a larger party.
