Little Vietnamese Bistro
422 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
New Vietnamese restaurant in San Bruno? Of course I had to check it out.Theres free street parking although empty spaces can be sparse depending on the time of week/day (I hope you are okay with parallel parking). Inside the restaurant there is ample seating, though. And the inside is very clean and nicely decorated. The entree portion size for the garlic noodles was VERY generous for the price, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The imperial rolls appetizer came with lots of decorative garnish while still remaining true to its purpose: being tasty.I didnt manage to get any photos of their menu but there are lots of appetizing options here, I can easily see myself coming back.My only gripe—and its a relatively minor one—was that after I got my food my waiter pretty much didnt check on me at all (e.g. asking if the food was all right, if I needed a refill of my drink etc.). No biggie, I just had to flag him down after a while but still... considering it wasnt busy it wouldve been nice if they asked if I needed anything else during my meal.At any rate, I cant wait to go back!

Best Vietnamese restaurant in San Mateo. Everything was excellent. Its a little pricey, but I believe you get a good portion and quality ingredients. Service was excellent from the reception to the server. I recommend trying it out at least once.

Saigon City Restaurant
418 E 3rd Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401, United States
Popular local Vietnamese restaurant in downtown San Mateo. Saigons menu includes all the usuals - pho, banh mi (sandwiches), bun, rice plates, Vietnamese iced coffee, etc.In the past few years, I have tried pretty much everything on their menu, except for their extensive vegetarian menu. I usually order 20, 23, 29 or 59 which 59 is what I ordered today - Saigon Special House Clay Pot (Chicken, Chinese pork sausage, shrimp, bamboo) for $7.95 for lunch. Although I have had the Clay Pot pipping hot and have heard the the sizzling popping noise, there wasnt any today.Service is prompt. Metered street parking. Does get crowded at lunch and dinner and there can be a wait. Recently, Saigon changed their business hours for Monday. They are closed for the day at 3 pm. No Monday Dinner service.

Pho Little Saigon
2978 S Norfolk St, San Mateo, CA 94403, United States
Been here twice at the urge of my friends. First time had the rice plate with pork chop and shrimp cake, which was recommended by my friend. I thought it was just average. For the most part, I avoid rice plates at any Vietnamese restaurant because most ingredients in the plate are precooked, thus not fresh, except the salad. We also ordered the fried chicken wings appetizer. The wings were very dry which indicated they were previously cooked or overcooked. We didnt finish them. This restaurant seems popular. It was full at one point during our visit. If I were you I would stick with the pho noodle soups or the vermicelli dishes. Get your rice plate at a Chinese restaurant instead.

Pho de Nguyen
586-A San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
The chef has brought in creative and fun dishes to Vietnamese cuisine in this amazing San Bruno restaurant. The most interesting part about the previous statement is that the place isnt located in San Jose or Sacramento--a haven known for Vietnamese cuisine. The interior is clean, feng shuid up and ready to accommodate large gatherings of friends and families. The vibe is calm and the neighboring conversations from nearby tables seem to liven the atmosphere up. I like it already. The menu shouts brevity and simplicity and says youre here for Vietnamese cuisine with a high probability of an appetite for Pho. We order the duck garlic noodles, oxtail pho and beef pho. Shortly thereafter, some shouts in the back, clanging of pots, sizzling sounds of something on the wok and voila: our order appears before our hungry eyes (photos attached for yr enjoyment of course.)Oh how cool! The duck garlic noodles are presented beautifully on a stone plate (or was it wood?). The oxtail and beef pho were producing a smell so intoxicating I just about fainted (but I didnt, I swear!). Well, maybe its a gimmick, let me just tr--OMG ITS SO GOOD!!!The reviews were all just so RIGHT! The broth is so full and the the taste of hours and hours of simmering of the core ingredients seem to induce a dopamine frenzy like no other as you enjoy the bowl of pho. The favorite smell and taste of garlic on the roasted duck are infused perfectly together and what better way to eat it, but with some noodles? Hats off to Chef Nguyen and his team for putting out their best--it really does show. The end.(oh and street parking, meh!)

East Side Banh Mi
5 S Ellsworth Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401, United States
We ordered delivery of chicken and vegan banh mi. Both were horrible. The chicken had no flavor. Only flavor was from the pickled carrots but not enough. The eggplant in the vegan sandwich stuck out so badly on the tongue. The wait for a great banh mi place in San Mateo continues.

People here are super nice and helpful! I wish I could give more stars!!Here is what happened to me:I was trying to ship some face masks to my families in China and thought it might be helpful to ship some alcohol wipes at the same time. The staffs had some doubts about this but we still decided to give it a try.I double-checked it 5 min after my shipment was prepared, and found that we cant actually ship wipes internationally. I went back to the counter, planning to take back the packages and repackage them. Surprisingly, the staff (IIRC her name is Boba) offered to help me take them out at the counter. She also helped me updated my custom declaration form so that I dont need to feel them again. In the end she also patiently helped me get some refund (b/c the packages are lighter now).I feel very lucky that we have such friendly staffs here! This is the best USPS experience Ive ever have!
