Pho So 1
19548 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
This is a surprisingly good Vietnamese restaurant among many in the area. We had the pho large and a barbecue pork rice dish. The broth in the pho was excellent ~ savory and tasty without leaving a too sweet sweet or salty aftertaste. The meat was tender and fresh. The barbecue pork was plentiful and tender and well seasoned. It went down good with the rice nicely paired with the sautéed green onion. Restaurant is large, spacious, clean and comfortable. The service is personable and efficient. This restaurant has become a favorite for us.

Unwind Tarzana is nestled in the corner of an outdoor plaza which also offers outdoor cozy patio dining and free parking. Recently I reserved a party for 12 indoors on a Saturday night (3/27) and was beyond satisfied with the ambiance, live music performed by one of the Best Violinist Ive ever heard in my lifetime! The food was amazing and I ordered almost every appetizer on the menu. My guests are still talking about how delicious the food was and how fast everything came out of the kitchen. We all felt very comfortable indoors. This is not just a Wine Bar...its a party in your mouth experience you dont want to miss out on! I used to live in Tarzana and had visited multiple restaurants on Ventura Blvd...unfortunately,.I missed this little gem although its now under new ownership so it was all about the timing. Speaking of ownership, I met the owner Jamie who was extremely attentive to all of our wants and needs...she even gave us an off the menu appetizer for free. I can sense that she is passionate for making others feel happy which includes her staff. Speaking of the staff...the service was on point all night and they always wore their masks. Everything felt, looked and smelt very clean! The bathroom actually had a mouthwash dispenser...Bonus!Half a dozen of us are planning our return on a Saturday but this next time will be to eat home made PHO which I hear is made by the owner herself who happens to be half Vietnamese! Cant wait! Need I mention the Big Screen TVs above the bar and that the owner paid for the UFC fight for her patrons to watch for free? Due to Covid19 regulations, I strongly suggest making reservations in advance. Otherwise dont complain if you have to wait for seating because the wait will be worth it...guaranteed!
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
18505 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I don't buy coffee out all the time, but if I do, it is at Coffee Bean. I love that they have fresh teas for a decent price. Only about $3 for a large. I always get the Swedish berries tea and add 2 stivia bc it is pretty tart otherwise, but I buy 2 so I can have 1 the next day haha. They are so refreshing. They have a larger selection of sandwiches than Starbucks too. I love their pumpkin varieties. I wish they didn't get rid of the option to make any drink Ultimate. That would add chocolate covered coffee beans blended up into any drink. It was my fave in the Carmel Ice Blended drink. But no more ?Update 061924They are quick and the employees are typically super friendly minus 1 employee. I used to get the Swedish Berries tea all the time last summer and it was less than $3 and it is now $5!!! For a tea! Crazy. I was surprised to see the price dif and mention the change to the employee. She was super sweet and gave me $2 off without me asking. I still go here 1-2 per week and always get an iced coffee and ask for easy ice. It never fails that they continue to ignore that request and fill the whole cup with ice. If I want to buy a small coffee I would have to I'm so tired of these places trying to sell small drinks in a large cup by filling the whole thing with ice first. I always tell ask for them to remove the added ice bc it's approx 8oz of drink missing otherwise.
Coconut Thai Cuisine
18594 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
The 2 ppl who run this place are extremely rude. The female employee, who is a middle-aged 5 foot tall Vietnamese woman, she yelled at me tonight and then hung up the phone when I called to just ask about their business hours. I had driven to the restaurant and the door was locked. I saw the male chef inside and waved at him, and he waved no and shook his head. I figured they were closed, but it was before 9pm, and their hours are 10pm closing every night. I called about 5 minutes later after I had left, and the Vietnamese woman answered the phone. When I asked her, she said were open. I told her what happened. She yelled at me and then quickly slammed the phone to hang up. This all happened after I had gone there previously and they must have both known that Im was a regular customer.By the way, their food is not very good and it gave me diarrhea more than once and in general I usually didnt feel great after eating there. And also, the 2 employees always usually have their masks off in the restaurant, so this place might be one of the superspreaders we keep hearing about
