Le Pho WeHo
7243 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90046, United States
If you want to pay double than in every vietnamese restaurant.... This is the place for you. They gave me a sandwich literally as small as it can be and charge literally double than in every place I ever went to get a sandwich like that. Guys no offense... Quality is great, sandwich tasted amazing but you cant sell that little thing for 17 dollars... Is literally 3 bites. I dont know ... Doesnt feel any good to end up hungry looking for more food after spending almost 20 dollars ... Maybe Im in the wrong place or whatever but .... 8, 9 dollars is the price for that little thing you are selling as a sandwich.

Daughters Deli
8555 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069, United States
The first time we ordered from Daughters Deli was a month ago via Postmates. The food was so good! We ordered the Pastrami/Egg/Swiss, NOI, Matzo Ball Soup and Egg Salad. They were all excellent. We were so impressed, especially with the breakfast sandwich. The following day, we ordered the same items a second time. Our second time ordering wasnt consistent with the first time when it came to the breakfast sandwich. Upon receipt of the sandwich, unlike the first time, it wasnt cut in half and had a mayo type sauce on it.We immediately gave Daughters Deli a break and did not order from them again until the other day. Weve now ordered twice within the last few days and each time, the food has been consistent and excellent. What a relief!Weve been big fans of the father deli Langers for decades and had a lot of confidence in Daughters Deli considering the relation. Thankfully, we are not at a loss and dont have to schlep across town to Langers to get the same thing now! Were definitely sticking to Daughters Deli; as long as it stays consistent. We really like the way they redesigned the building that used to be Paquito Mas and then a yogurt place. Hopefully, Daughters Deli is there to stay.
Otus Thai Kitchen & Coffee
1253 N La Brea Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90038, United States
Came to Otus on a friends recommendation and really enjoyed it! We had a huge party (11) and Otus was able to accommodate us without any issues though we may have been a little overwhelming to start the morning...I began with a pink latte which is a latte made with Thai sala syrup. The flavor profile is similar to strawberry milk but a little more floral. A couple friends went with bottomless mimosas but remarked that it wasnt too special. For appetizers we shared the roti and Ms Dangs crispy fried rice. Both were honestly delicious! The roti was prepared like a banana fosters french toast with roti substituting the toast. It was crispy, buttery, and similar to fried bananas! As for the crispy rice, it was done very well! Ive had versions that were way too dry and crispy or too tangy from vinegar and fermented pork but this hit all the right notes and the crunchy bites from the leaves of romaine paired perfectly! For my main, I went with the Moo Ping and OMG the pork skewers were TO DIE FOR! They were marinated and grilled to perfection! The accompanying vinegar dip was a little bit too acidic for me though. I really liked the accompaniments of papaya salad and sticky rice. Both paired perfectly with the super savory pork! I also liked using the remaining dressing off the papaya salad to dip and accompany the rice as it wasnt nearly as strong as the vinegar.I tried bites from my friends dishes and some really hit! The happy chicken was a must order but the happy ribs is a miss. The chicken was so crispy yet so juicy but the ribs were clearly over fried and so dry. The kai kata is unique! Getting a bite with the baguette, ground pork, Chinese sausage and creamy egg is really something to experience at least once!Among the rest of my friends (aka the other side of the table), reviews were mixed. Both friends that ordered the shitake chicken rice bowl mentioned that it was a little bland but the one that ordered khao kai jiew gave it a thumbs up. There were also two thumbs up for the the its a joke jook. By far the worst menu blunder though was the tofu street noodles. My friend said that there was zero flavor. He tried to fix it with a lot of sambal and then soy sauce but it wasnt until we ordered some peanut sauce ($3) that he finally enjoyed his meal. Our entire meal with gratuity came to about $370. Id say its safe to plan that your meal will average about $25 with drinks.
dtown pizzeria
8424 Santa Monica Blvd #D, West Hollywood, CA 90069, United States
Freakin excellent pizza, and real Detroit-style with the caramelized crust (the pizza reminds me of Louis in Hazel Park, for those of you who came from Motown). Its a bit pricey, but it is excellent. It is inside a Vietnamese restaurant with a hip feel, so of course they also make Detroit-style pizza. My wife loved the pho soup. The staff is personable and friendly. A great experience all the way around.

Formosa Cafe
7156 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90046, United States
I recently talked to restauranteur Adam Fleischman about the Formosa Cafe. He said they are revamping the menu.Inspired by Beverly Hill's Red Medicine's Vietnamese-themed menu and bar bites, Red Med at Formosa Café features some of the most popular dishes, including dumplings, spring rolls, bahn-mi, brisket and whole fish to share. My eyes had to adjust quickly as I walked into the dark restaurant to meet a group of foodies. We frequently used our iPhone flashlights to read the menu and snap photos. The walls are still lined with over 250 black and white headshots of some of the most famous actors in the world. There is still a display case showcasing a collection of Elvis Presley decanters and statues above his old booth. One of the head bartenders, Billy Ray arrived at our table with some of the classic cocktails that have been added to the cocktail menu. Bartender Matthew Boddie created a ginger daiquiri a la Central, pisco apricot Tropicale and the Singapore Sling for us to enjoy. We were told that gangster Mickey Cohen ruled the underground of liquor, women and cash at Formosa Café. His safe was built into the flooring between the two front booths to the left of the front door.Interesting dishes include the entirely green Rock shrimp dish with layers of avocado. The marinated eggplant offers vivid flavors of garlic, sesame, and celery that almost vibrated in my palate.I enjoyed the ethereal Shanghai rice cakes that tasted like little chewy dough pillows dusted with bacon, shishito and Thai basil. The chicken wings are a Red Medicine recipe rolled in flavorful crumbs, fish sauce lime and Thai chile, that spices the wings with aromatic flavors. The crispy spring rolls are deep fried and stuffed with a healthy dose of crab and Asian herbs.Everyone at the table enjoyed the oyster mushrooms with crisp haricot vert beans, and a French chili pepper from Espelette mixed in with the oyster sauce.Large parities may want to go straight to The Group Effort column on the menu for plates of tender Wagyu Beef Brisker braised in a secret plum sauce for 36 hours or a deep fried whole black bass that arrives whole. The server filets it to reveal light colored and moist fish with a crispy crust. These dishes easily feed three to four guests. The Formosa Café is open for dinner at 4 p.m. until the 2 a.m. “last call.” Parking is available in the West Hollywood Gateway parking garage.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
8789 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069, United States
Very fast service and delicious coffee. Friendly staff. I dont find Vietnamese coffee many places and they had some! Their dark chocolate ice blended is always my favorite though. Really close in proximity to lots of restaurants and shopping.
Dumpling Monster
7318 Santa Monica Blvd Suite 60, West Hollywood, CA 90046, United States
I love Asian food.I love how creative, daring and spicy the meals have the potential to be, and specially Im really into dumplings and gyoza. Theres just something about the combination of dough with a filling of your choice and the spices in the protein cooked within the doughy part. This place I wanted to try because it specializes in dumplings, so naturally youd expect their attention, skill and efforts to reflect just that. Kinda like if you visit a cardiologist you wouldnt expect them to look at your foot.I got the Spicy Pork Wontons which I enjoyed. It was good. Not great. Couldve been better. Ill tell you why. It tasted fresh, the pork was well seasoned and the spicy sauce accompanied with spring onions was a nice touch. I think if the consistency of the gravy was a bit thicker and perhaps a slight addition of garlic wouldve really put it over the top with the spring onions. But, I would get it again. It was nice.I also tried their Pan Fried Chicken Dumpling which I didnt like and didnt finish. The chicken was processed chicken meat and the dumpling tasted frozen. Going back to my previous point.....because it is a specialty dumpling shop.....anything other than fresh - in house made dumplings is just not a good idea. I wouldnt get that dish again. The service I cant really say much about. It was like a fast food type service at the counter.THIS IS AN EDIT ON MY LAST REVIEW OF THIS PLACE.I went back and decided to try another item on their menu which was the Chow Mein with Shrimp and in addition also ordered their Spicy Pork Wontons which I loved the first time around also. I decided to add two more stars and heres why:Consistency: The spicy wontons were great...again. The taste, freshness and time to prepare were exactly as the first time. The Chow Mein with Shrimp I really enjoyed and was pleasantly surprised because on my very first order I was not happy with the quality of the dumplings and wasnt sure if the Chow Mein would follow suit or not and luckily it didnt. It was wonderfully seasoned, very fresh and the proportions of the shrimp to cabbage, onions and broccoli was just right. When I arrived home it was still steaming hot! which tells you it was prepared right off the grill and packaged just in time with no lapse in counter-sitting.
SUR Restaurant & Lounge
606-614 N Robertson Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069, United States
Booked dinner tonight for a surprise to my Bravo fan girlfriend so I came in very open. I don't watch the show myself so this was just for dining. Bravo is only Top Chef for me but she watches all the others religiously. Parking in this area is very hard, your only options are paid metered parking (hardest to find), a pay lot, or valet for $20. We arrived a few minutes early for our 7PM dinner, but were redirected to the lounge to wait for our table. 18 mins later our table was ready, but even though I made reservations 3.5 weeks ago they took us to the front table, outside, that was on a serious slant. The entire table was tilting to the left and the music was pulsing and very loud, think club atmosphere, so it was at this time I realized this isn't fine dining or about the food, but more for the lounge scene. We saw multiple different bachelorette party groups arrive and enter with sashes declaring their roles, which made for great people watching and I believe are the true target clientele.I started off with the summer soup, which was a Strawberry Gazpacho and it was a bit tart with lots of large pieces of mint in it, but still very fresh and I did enjoy it overall. We followed it up with the Fried Goat Cheese Balls due to it being their signature starter but they were changed to four, bite sized pieces and not the small golf ball size pieces that are in the other pictures. It reminded me of a cocktail party hors d'oeuvre. Next came the Lamb Pappardelle that was sadly undercooked and had way too much mint. Mint again! The Pappardelle noodle was very chewy and being half Italian my Mom taught me all about al dente and cook times for pasta. I would give this dish a 3/5 I was actually disappointed. Based on this we decided to pass on dessert to avoid future disappointment.Overall I was happy to take her here so she could experience it, but this won't be somewhere I will be repeating. I don't feel it's a good fit for a business meal due to the layout and noise volume and personally I would want a food centered restaurant for an anniversary or birthday meal.
