Awesome food, great service, and the chow mein was full of flavor and huge portion. Well worth the price. Even the shrimp Kung Pao was spot on. My new favorite Chinese restaurant. ?
Bamboo Cuisine - Restaurant & Bar - Chinese Foo...

Its always heartbreaking to write about a place you used to love- it used to be one of those places you told all your friends and fam about...... took out-of-towners to, to show off how awesome your neighborhood is, how upscale and yum the local hot spots are.And it used to be my go to place to celebrate special occasions. No Mas.Id like to blame it on Covid - but the truth is, as far back as 2018, there were already signs that the Ownership had either sold, or sold-out. There used to be 3 owners... now only one of the original remains, Joseph - and he seems to no longer enjoy his guests nor his own place. Rude might be a word to describe how is now is even with his most loyal customers. This also describes several of the hosts who sound downright unhappy to be taking your to go orders - no warm smile when you arrive to pick up your food - in fact, they may just absent-mindedly POINT AT YOUR BAG as if actually GREETING a paying customer who keeps them employed were too much of a strain. This past year, delivery orders have been wrong. If you call to describe the problem, they might work with you on a resolution - or they might argue with you that you are wrong (!)And actually DINING IN on most nights is a downright depressing experience. The decor has not been freshened or updated since a few years after it opened (back in 1990- 34 years ago), and the waitstaff are mostly silent, solemn, and disinterested. They recently lost their Head Chef to a new venture downtown, and it also shows. And all those things you USED to get with your entrees - a bowl of rice, jasmine tea, ice water...? GONE. Unless you want to pay for your rice ($4.00!!! For 2 scoops of white rice that costs them maybe 30 cents).OH - and all the things you would EXPECT for a single-entree dinner that costs $40+ at a nice Chinese Restaurant (chopsticks, plum sauce, spice mustard, napkins, crunchy noodles...?)FORGET IT. UNLESS YOU OUTRIGHT ASK - theyll send you home with your entree WITH NO CHOPSTICKS. Cause being stingy I guess helps keep them afloat, maybe. Or they just dont care enough to offer and ask you if youd like any of the items youd hope for from a classy restaurant.Parking still requires valet (though the restaurant itself is not that busy, a very popular sushi restaurant a few doors down now takes up all the street parking and back parking lots). My last order was a few days ago. I called the owner by name, was friendly, asked how he was. I was cut off with What do you want to order? I ordered. Realized Id forgotten to request chopsticks, call back - he hollers in Chinese to the staff to add chopsticks and then - HANGS UP ON ME. No, No problem, well add those, or even a Good bye. Just CLICK.Seriously? This after 34 years of loyal patronage?Do yourself a favor - go to the sushi restaurant up the street, or call any one of the 3 dozen other Chinese restaurants in Sherman Oaks who might actually treat you like your patronage matters. The food is fine - but at exhoribitant prices and sub-par service - not worth it anymore.Thank you.
Ping Pong Chinese Cuisine
17267 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
When I lived in Encino, I ALWAYS ordered from Ping Pong. In fact, I ordered from them so much that they knew who I was every time I would call. They always went significantly out of their way for me…often even delivering me my food after hours! Beyond just the fabulous service, the quality of the food is absolutely outstanding. With Chinese food, I often find myself feeling like I'm eating a lot of fatty chunks of meat & it could taste like it's been sitting out for a while. This is certainly NOT the case at Ping Pong. They're food always tastes so good! They clearly use the finest quality of ingredients and serve by far the absolute most freshly made dishes. They are definitely best Chinese food place I've ever ordered from. I must mention though, they are a bit pricier than my others. Personally, I think it's well worth it. The quality supersedes the higher price tag! Highlyyyyyy recommend
Tasty China
9493 Telephone Rd UNIT 104, Ventura, CA 93004, United States
Tldr: This is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in Ventura County. When we first arrived for dinner the place was packed, but our server managed to get us seated without delay. Service was very prompt despite the busy atmosphere, the main course came out right when we were done with the appetizers; the timing was impeccable. Throughout the entire meal, the server came by multiple times to check with us that everything was well. Now on to the food. As a Chinese person, I can assure you that the food here is very authentic, with the xiao long bao stealing the spotlight for the night. Definitely check out this place next time youre in Ventura and craving Chinese food!
Peking Restaurant
5960 Telegraph Rd, Ventura, CA 93003, United States
When I say weve been coming to this restaurant for years... I mean 15+ years! We started coming when a guy named Roger owned it and then Margaret and her husband bought it from him. We come here for every special occasion: Mothers day, Fathers day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc you name it. They cook genuine Chinese cuisine. Margaret is an amazing chef and everything she serves us you can tell was made with love. We usually order the same things : chili wontons, steamed fish with ginger /scallions, eggplant with ground pork, extra crispy orange beef, pan fried three flavor noodles, green beans, honey walnut or fried whole shrimp, and sometimes when its really special.. We get the Peking duck. For some reason Ive never left a review and maybe thats just because Im lazy. But Margaret does such an amazing job cooking up the best Chinese cuisine, her restaurant is always busy! She knows my family and always makes sure she comes to our table to say hi. Sometimes shell even send us a freshly made plate of her sesame red bean balls for dessert! Ill always continue to come here because there just isnt any other Chinese restaurant as authentic and delicious as hers in the Ventura County.

Szechuwan Garden
18900 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
I moved out to Los Angeles from New York over a year ago and since then I have been trying to find a Chinese restaurant that compares to the ones I love in New York and finally I have, Szechuwan Garden. I had a wonderful experience here and I already cant wait to go back. The restaurant is very nice inside, I adored the peaceful vibes and gorgeous decor. The service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. My party and I all ordered the lunch special (choice of soup or salad, an egg roll, choice of rice, and an entrée) and every one of us was extremely happy with our food. The crispy noodles that we were served when we sat down were so good that we asked for more. The egg flower soup I had was outstanding and I am sad that I am not eating it right now. The chicken with soft noodles was so plentiful and tasty that I took it home and ate the rest for dinner. I cant recommend this restaurant enough!
P.F. Changs
15301 Ventura Blvd Ste P-22, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, United States
Despite being called a Bistro, it is rather an upscale Chinese restaurant. The place is cozy and stylish. The food was great and their service was excellent. We had appetizers, main courses, and coffee with dessert - everything was superb. We will definitely visit again. As a nice touch, they have validated our parking.
