Ambrosia in Aptos has maintained the quality of the food & taste. Post covid dine-in observations...papad and chutneys used to be on the house now they are charging hefty, all menu items hiked up. Mushroom masala was very well prepared, Malai Kofta needed to spice up a bit instead of tasting almost like a desert, Baigan bharta was pretty bad. Onion Kulcha and Garlic Naans were great so was the Paneer chili appetizer even though it tasted like a fusion dish. Overall, they can cut down tomato based gavy in most of the dishes. Staff is too direct telling customers to leave as it passed closing time ....Overall still a great place in this neighborhood! Will continue to be their regular customer as long as they maintain.Recent visit was very memorable! Great to see customer friendly staff and delicious food. Bread basket (stuffed aloo parata, Garlic and regular naans) and Paneer Makhani deserve 5 star rating. Saag Paneer was bit bland, could do with more flavor & taste. Tried their Samosa chaat apetizer. Very different from any other place yet creative.Wanted to specially acknowledge the staff for his quick action and humor in handing over forgotten mobile device from the table.

Great food, gracious service. We stopped in for a quick lunch and were not disappointed. I had the butter chicken and my husband had a lamb dish. We also had basmati saffron rice and Naan. Every dish was well prepared and to our specified spice level. They also had an attractive buffet, which Ill try next time.

Good Indian food… (for USA!)Firstly we have lived in the UK (which had exceptional Indian food IMO) so like to think we know good Indian food 😝. Maybe others will disagree…Generally we have found Indian restaurants in the USA have been pretty low quality (sorry) but this was better than average was totally fine, just not amazing…The bhindi okra dish was the standout winner, onion bahjis and dahl and rogan josh were all good too. Not particularly cheap, but that’s California I guess!

Very generous portions and tasty food. There is a small outdoor sitting area. It is a small restaurant, tables are small and sitting are is tight.The staff is friendly and prompt. The food is delicious. We tried couple of dishes and they were all good.

Went here for dinner on a Sunday evening. It was just about starting to fill up. We ordered a lot of food here - Dal Makhni, Mushroom Masala, Butter Chicken, Trio Chicken, Amritsari Paneer Tikka with their Tandoori Rotis, Garlic Naan.The sizzlers - Trio Chicken, Amritsari Paneer Tikka were decent. Dal Makhni was great. There were a handful mushrooms in Mushroom Masala and the Butter Chicken was sweet. Nothing exceptional.

Been here before and it was fine, this time the food was extremely dry and bland, like it had been sitting out for hours prior. Couldn’t even eat it. Also very expensive especially for the quality. Can get Indian food in San Jose that’s 100x better for almost half the price.

We found Ambrosia Indian Bistro accidentally on our way from SFO to Santa Barbara. Craving for Indian food and trusting the reviews we decided to try it out. The place didn’t disappoint at all. We ordered Peshawari chicken sizzler, kadhai chicken curry, garlic naan and saffron rice. Naan and rice could have been better while sizzler and kadhai chicken were delicious. Do take a pit stop and try the place when you happen to be in the area.

Worst place for vegetarian people. Paneer tikka was sweet, raw paneer and it tasted like eating raw paneer with ketchup.We also ordered malai kofta, kofta pieces were so huge, and uncooked. It felt like an uncooked dough dipped in again tomato gravy. We also ordered cheese naan and garlic naan. Cheese naan was completely uncooked. The only thing good here was garlic naan that also average.Please guys go to this place only if you plan to not drink water. You cannot even use restroom or use it keeping the door open everyone see you using it.

Restaurant was almost empty. there were two food servers. we saw them three times. the entire evening.service was absolutely terrible. food was very good. it took an extremely long time to get the food even though they were only two other groups in the roomI actually had to get up and ask the food server if we could eat now.

It’s not the first time we have been to this restaurant. Our recent visit was much humiliated. One of my friend entered the restaurant from the back door from parking lot, which we have done before. There were no sign on the door(restricted/employee only). The front desk Guy named Om lost his temper. I feel being racially discriminated The owner must trained front desk person before hiring.

My girlfriend and I ordered Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, and Shrimp Vindaloo through Uber Eats. The food was average. Shortly after finishing our meal, my girlfriend started feeling nauseous, and threw up. We concluded that the Shrimp Vindaloo was the root cause. Its disappointing given that the food was average, and doubly disappointing given the bill was $80.

I love this place - I come here often and appreciate the quality of food ( and also the quantity!). All the dishes I have tried are always fresh and cause no health issues - tastes great too! I love their mixed pickle ( its a special kind - try it!). Overall a great place for Indian food in the area. I have ordered veg dishes always but I am sure non veg options are great too. Staff is very friendly and ambience is good too. A must try!

I’d say this place was better than the average rating suggests. Garlic Naan was awesome. Lamb rack is tender and delicious. It’s a bit pricey though, probably worth it. Location is a bit empty feeling during Covid with more of a focus on takeout.

The quality of the food at the buffet was good, but there was not as much variety as Ive found at other Indian buffets. There were no sauces and no spicy foods to be seen. I was especially disappointed by the dessert, or lack thereof. ☹️ I probably wont be back, even though there wasnt much to really complain about. It was a decent, but meh experience for me.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Truly excellent. Dont judge a book by its cover. This is a small restaurant seemingly in the middle of nowhere right next to a Unocal 76 gas station. What they lack in ambience they more then make up for in authentically delicious Indian cuisine at reasonable prices.

I had dinner at Ambrosia last night and it was my first time there and probably only the third time I have ever eaten Indian food. Funny because I live right across the street from this place. I thought the food was really good, the service was just fine and the ambiance decent. Although, looking out the window at a gas station isnt the most thrilling view. Both me and my wife got sick after eating the food. Not from a food safety issue but rather I suspect using poor quality oils. The butter chicken was lacking in richness, tasted more like tomato paste and didnt seem to have any cream in it. The raita (yogurt) sauce was totally watery. I mentioned casually to the manager that I wasnt happy with the food and he laughed. Not going back.I used to go there more often about a year ago and the food seemed better then.

Dont come late in the evening. Staff was not attentive after the food arrived. Too much shouting going on in the kitchen. Ordered the non vegetarian feast. Chicken and lamb were both dry, but there was plenty of food for me and my wife. Kheer was very liquidy. Papdam served when seated was fresh, but the one served with the meal was rubbery. Apricot Naan on the website menu wasnt on the menu at the restaurant, which was disappointing, as it was the reason we had decided to try Ambrosia in the first place.

The lunch buffet is good and priced fairly. However the food on the menu is not necessarily the best quality. For instance in the curry some of the vegetables are not fresh vegetables – rather they appear to be canned or frozen . The non-bread is good – though not great. They do make a very good chai.

My friend and I have experienced poor treatment on two occasions when coming in around 8pm in the last month or so. They close at 9pm. Last Sunday (yesterday) were told we were the last table which we were not, rushed to grab our dishes even though our food came out really late and over cooked. The customer service through the experience wasn’t to be found and very unfriendly. When we were finished before closing they failed to give us our check. Upon asking for it we we received zero eye contact or response. We asked for boxes and they tried to take our plates away which had our leftovers on it. Afterwards I ended up very sick to my stomach from my improperly cooked shrimp. I think management needs to have a talk with the night staff (particularly the front server of Sunday night) about customer service. Everyone deserves polite service and feel welcomed to be dining within business hours. Perhaps the workers do not enjoy working there? Come up with some ways to make their work environment more pleasant with proper breaks, staff meals, and restaurant service training. I have been a server and line cook in the past and it is really depressing to spend my hard earned money this way. We won’t be returning when once this was our go to place.

Will definetly not be coming back. Ive been coming to Ambrosia for years and the service I had was just outright awful. I had the lunch buffet with a friend of mine. The food was good but the waiters were rude and cold. They never greeted us and when we were the last group they told us that lunch was over and were rushing us out the door. One of the waiters kept coming in and out seeing if we had left yet and made the whole meal uncomfortable.The owners of Ambrosia need to take this issue seriously as this isnt the Ambrosia I remember.

This was the 3rd or 4th time I went there and this time around, the food was so-so.I got the crab cakes, despite the fact that those arent an Indian speciality but they sounded interesting. I guess theres a reason why crab cakes arent an Indian thing... They were overdone, so much so that i could barely cut them up.I ordered a mango lassi that was somewhat tangy and I thought that the yogurt in it may have been spoiled.The lamb I got was good but two other dishes (butter chicken and chicken Tika masala) where too sweet, instead of being spicy.I dont think Ill go back there any time soon, if ever. Which is sad since the other times I went there, everything was pretty tasty.

Was dining here with family/friends on what was a pleasant evening up until then. The food was generally o.k but this review is beyond the food. This is the first time we felt threatened by the behavior of a restaurant Manager ever! All because we thought a paneer dish didnt taste well - it sent him off in a frenzy! He was rude & responded angrily to the women in our group with some words of English(?) we didnt understand & stormed out of the dining area saying I wont charge you..my cook left!..or something like that. For several minutes we then heard him shout inside the kitchen. When I went over to chat with him & calm him down he wouldnt talk. All this made us feel unsafe - we had lil children among us. One of the staff members apologized but Id rather starve than be threatened in a restaurant like this.The restaurant has some really nice interiors - idols of Lord Ganesha, Nataraja (lord Shiva in his dance form), a serene/calming poster of Buddha, some work of art from the Hoysala dynasty...it felt so India but the hospitality (or hostility) is nothing like Ive experienced world-over - an evening we would rather forget!NOTE:If you are someone who can make decisions & are reading this - train this hot-headed guy to take criticism the right way & manage his temper. Else, this IMHO isnt the industry for him. Actually I wonder, what industry has a place for this kind of behavior!

The chutney papadum that is served as a free appetizer is delicious, the rest of the food was terrible. I got the Vegetarian Tali, none of the dishes were good, the samosas had no flavor at all, one dish tasted like ketchup and another like smoke flavoring. I would not recommend the vegetarian dishes here to anyone, I cannot speak for dishes with meat.

We were in Santa Cruz area and were looking for some Indian food. So we went to Ambrosia - Aptos, I think they have another restaurant in Cannery row Monterrey, CA area (We visited this place an year back, but last time wasnt this bad). I was tempted to try their Tandoori Sizzlers as I was expecting it to be the way its been prepared in India, but it was big let down. We ordered Amritsari Paneer Tikka, they served it with big cottage cheese cubes with onion/tomato curry all over it (Sorry Guys! This is not how it is made in India) and also we ordered Vegetable Korma, here they have used Cucumber and Broccoli. Seriously guys, who use Cucumber and Broccoli in Indian curry. We use cauliflower not Broccoli and its not the same. It was big let down for us this time, but was not a bad place based on our last time in Cannery row restaurant.

We went in on a Monday night at 7:30 for my mothers birthday. We didnt know what to expect of the food since we just had the Google recommendation and very minimal pictures. We wanted to take my mom somewhere special without driving out to San Jose,SF, or Momterey. This restaurant was very nice. With a niche of Hindu (Hindi,Indian, sorry for my ignorance), delicacies, and atmosphere. There was beautiful glassware and the tables were set up for a nice fancy dinner. We were a party of 6, so we all got a different dish and had a feast. EVERYTHING WAS SO DELICIOUS. The tables favorite was the freshly baked Nann and the Chicken Tikka Masala. It was like a mole but better. My mom was delighted, which was the most important outcome for us. Our server, Om, was so kind and informative about our dinner questions and plates. He even arranged for a surprise HappyBday song, which made us so happy (my mom is 63 and very hard to please lol) so PLEASE ho support this restaurant. Its delicious and affordable and their hours are great. Will go back for their lunch buffet! Thank you, Om and Ambrosia!
