Ambrosia India Bistro- APTOS
207 Sea Ridge Rd, Aptos, CA 95003, United States
Was dining here with family/friends on what was a pleasant evening up until then. The food was generally o.k but this review is beyond the food. This is the first time we felt threatened by the behavior of a restaurant Manager ever! All because we thought a paneer dish didnt taste well - it sent him off in a frenzy! He was rude & responded angrily to the women in our group with some words of English(?) we didnt understand & stormed out of the dining area saying I wont charge you..my cook left!..or something like that. For several minutes we then heard him shout inside the kitchen. When I went over to chat with him & calm him down he wouldnt talk. All this made us feel unsafe - we had lil children among us. One of the staff members apologized but Id rather starve than be threatened in a restaurant like this. The restaurant has some really nice interiors - idols of Lord Ganesha, Nataraja (lord Shiva in his dance form), a serene/calming poster of Buddha, some work of art from the Hoysala dynasty...it felt so India but the hospitality (or hostility) is nothing like Ive experienced world-over - an evening we would rather forget!NOTE:If you are someone who can make decisions & are reading this - train this hot-headed guy to take criticism the right way & manage his temper. Else, this IMHO isnt the industry for him. Actually I wonder, what industry has a place for this kind of behavior!
Poki Bowl Aptos
98 Rancho Del Mar, Aptos, CA 95003, United States
Its okay but not close to Poke One N Half. The portions are a little small. The scoops are tiny. The staff were nice but very slow and inefficient. My main complaint with this place is that they are yet another business taking advantage of the whole covid thing. They still dont allow indoor dining and their bathroom is temporarily out of service I asked a worker how long it has been temporarily out of service and they said for 2 years, since the beginning of the pandemic. We need to demand businesses stop doing this or it will never end.On a positive note they do not charge more for avacado but they do for edamame? Thats weird, edamame is cheap and avacado is gold.Open your bathroom! Open the dining room!

This restaurant is ran by students in the Culinary Arts Program and they do a great job. The beginning students prep and serve lunch, the Advanced students prep and serve dinner. Catering class takes care of all weddings and parties that are booked there at the restaurant. The students learn all about running Front of the House, as well as Back of the House, menu planning, timing and hard work. The instructors are great, most have the experience having worked in kitchens themselves.Make a reservation, check it out, Im sure youll be back:)
Aptos Farmers Market at Cabrillo College
6500 Soquel Dr, Aptos, CA 95003, United States
Whats not to like about one of the top-rated farmers markets in the U.S. ?....especially when the first few socially distanced booths are 4 of my 5 favorites. The oyster/clam/taco booth, the delicious salsa and sauerkraut and other yummies booth just past them, the Rogue Pyes booth, and the Asian booth run by one of the 2 owners (and her now-adult daughter, who was just a toddler back then) of the lovely Asian restaurant which was long ago in the little strip mall nearer the entrance to the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park.
Sevys Bar Kitchen
7500 Old Dominion Ct, Aptos, CA 95003, United States
Had the absolute worst experience here last Wednesday night. We had hoped to come in and celebrate our anniversary with my mother and father in law. The restaurant was next to empty and the service couldnt have been worse due to our waiter consistently just wandering around and hanging out at the bar talking to other staff. To both order our food and our drinks we had to go ask the hostess and bar tender respectively to send support. Our waiter would go missing for 10 minutes or so in the back somewhere only to return and make excuses. Had I not been with my disabled father in law I would have left after waiting 15 minutes for a drink order. Getting him there and seated was battle enough so we waited it out. I asked the bar tender to take our drink order and he said he would get our waiter. Waiter shows up and immediately fires a first excuse, Sorry we are so swamped and perpetually understaffed. There was not a single person in the back room and only a handful of tables in the front/back patio and several staff roaming throughout. We got out drinks and then he said he would be back for our food order. When he finally came back to take our food order he saw someone he knew across the room and began to shout the persons name while standing next to us. Yo dog its me from the studio. We are studio mates remember Honestly it was pathetic. You are not too cool for this job and your reggae dub band isnt all that big the dude didnt even recognize you. When he finally popped back to reality that he had a job to do he said we could still order from the happy hour which was well within time when we had showed up. (5:30) We ordered and then he came back to tell us that it was past time for him to push it through. (6:10) Not a big deal really wasnt sweating this so we ordered our food and had hoped to order a second round of drinks but he took off mid sentence. Eventually went to the bar to order another round and they said theyd send him. Every time he came by he acted annoyed and shuffled around like he was the enlightened one and couldnt stand to be bothered. Eventually got our food, got some boxes from the hostess and I ended up going to the bar to pay since he didnt come check back on us. I told the bar tender I was done waiting around on the guy to do his job and he apologized and seemingly agreed. As we were leaving the waiter came to bring me the check concerned we were exiting without paying. I told him I was done waiting around on him and checked out at the bar. He looked confused as ever and I had exhausted my energy by this point so I spared him the details he didnt pick up on. $200 tab, would have had a better time taking burritos to beer thirty.
Hong Kong Garden
14 Seascape Village, Aptos, CA 95003, United States
Its just not good. Ive tried it at lunch and dinner, appetizers and entrees and noodles. I feel like Ive given them a chance. The food is fine and a fair value but theres no flavor. I even tried getting things labeled spicy, no taste.A lot of people love this place which is fair since its one of the best Chinese restaurants in the county. But thats more a criticism of the lack of good Chinese food than a compliment to this place. Its bland white people Asian food. If thats what you want, just prepare for a long wait. Definitely call ahead if you order here, and multiply the estimated wait time by at least four. And if you want flavor, youll have to add it yourself at home.
Uncle Kwoks Szechwan Restaurant
7960 Soquel Dr k, Aptos, CA 95003, United States
We have never been more disappointed. Weve gone to Uncle Kwoks for years but havent ordered from them recently. Spent 70+ bucks for tonights dinner and it all just went into the garbage can!!!! Horrible doesnt even describe it. The Pork Fried Rice had no flavor and doesnt even look like it hit a wok! The Egg Rolls were mostly cabbage, greasy and flavorless as well. The Pot stickers we tough and greasy. The Hong Kong noodle dish was just downright disgusting! Tough, chewy mushrooms, shrimp that hadnt been deveined, over cooked pork spareribs, under cooked pasty beef in the Beef and Broccoli and an underlying nasty flavor. All in all it was greasy, tasteless, slimy, tough, under cooked and completely disappointing. Basically, we just threw $70.00 in the trash and ordered from Golden China in Watsonville. Uncle Kwoks........youre not what you used to be and lost our business.
