This is a small restaurant with limited seatings. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We visited this place pre Covid and food was great that time. But the experience was not same this time. Food was average and spicy. We tried Kori roti, string hoppers and puffs.

Apey Kade means My Shop in Sri Lankan dialect. Although the place was small, the food was excellent, fresh and fulfilling to the hearts content. The coffee itself is a must try and so are the snacks and the main course. The rice pack wrapped in banana leaf is a must try. The owner was very patient and took time to explain to us the various menu items and how the items got their name. If you plan to visit, please keep in mind that the food is spicy and if your palette is not used to it, then you should ask the owner for alternatives. I for sure will definitely be going back to try the other items in their menu.

This restaurant is a gem. Travelled from far to eat hoppers. We ordered hopper meals with chicken, kottu roti with chicken, milk tea, faluda. All of the dishes were so tasty and delicious. I had more hoppers for takeout too, can’t get enough eating them. Family business with dad, mom and daughter. Highly recommended.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, and Im so happy I finally got to. Id never had Sri Lankan food, and it was different from anything Ive ever had before. The flavors are indescribable, and incredible. Everything tasted fresh. My expectations were high, and they were still exceeded by a marathon. I dont have the words to describe how stunning the food was. I had the vegetable hopper. It was a plate of noodles and a spicy vegetable salad (? Im not sure what it would be called but it was good), with three side dishes to put on the noodles- a coconut soup, a green-bean vegetable dish, and a squash curry. I went with my dad, and he ordered the same as I did, but his came with a dahl- like food instead of squash. I think its really cool how you can order the same thing and still get some variation, while also being able to have confidence that everything is delicious- my dad and I shared our side dishes, so I can confirm that the dahl was amazing. The people running the restaurant were helpful and kind, and the inside of the restaurant while small was impeccably clean. The food was quite spicy, which I loved, but if you dont like spicy food you might not like it as much. The spice is different from other spicy foods that Ive had, though, so if theres just a particular brand of spice that you dislike, you should still give this a try. Also, its a vegetarian-friendly place, which is always lovely to find.

Hole in the wall type place but clean, with seating upstairs. Would give it five stars but their food is super spicy. Also dont have the buffet which was really good pre-Covid. Always some delish pastries. Also take pre-orders - which can be made mild, Mango lassi and lamprais packets are good.

I saw some raving reviews about Apey Kade in multiple articles ranking Valley restaurants so I had to give it a try. It was also my first time trying Sri Lankan cuisine. Let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem.You may be put off by it’s appearance at first. It looks like a hole in the wall with dim lighting. I wouldn’t recommend eating in the restaurant itself. Take it to go if you don’t live far. That said though, the food is outrageously tasty. The hooper, which resembled the flavor of a crape and shape of a bowl, paired perfectly with the broth of the stewed chicken. I could eat three bowls of that chicken and spiced broth it was that good! I also ordered some pastries that had a spicy onion flavor, a great addition to your meal.I promise you this place is worth a try. If you are unsure what to order, ask the nice couple behind the counter and they will help you. I can’t wait to try more things here in the future!

The Lamparis is my favorite food here along with the kothu porotta. They have Puttu also here which is a Kerala food. Learned from having food here that there is a deep culinary connection with Kerala food and Sri Lankan food. There are only a few seats inside the restaurant to sit, but togo is their main service mode currently. The owner is the cook and is a very friendly person answering all my curious questions about the food and culture.
