Apey Kade Restaurant

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, and Im so happy I finally got to. Id never had Sri Lankan food, and it was different from anything Ive ever had before. The flavors are indescribable, and incredible. Everything tasted fresh. My expectations were high, and they were still exceeded by a marathon. I dont have the words to describe how stunning the food was. I had the vegetable hopper. It was a plate of noodles and a spicy vegetable salad (? Im not sure what it would be called but it was good), with three side dishes to put on the noodles- a coconut soup, a green-bean vegetable dish, and a squash curry. I went with my dad, and he ordered the same as I did, but his came with a dahl- like food instead of squash. I think its really cool how you can order the same thing and still get some variation, while also being able to have confidence that everything is delicious- my dad and I shared our side dishes, so I can confirm that the dahl was amazing. The people running the restaurant were helpful and kind, and the inside of the restaurant while small was impeccably clean. The food was quite spicy, which I loved, but if you dont like spicy food you might not like it as much. The spice is different from other spicy foods that Ive had, though, so if theres just a particular brand of spice that you dislike, you should still give this a try. Also, its a vegetarian-friendly place, which is always lovely to find.
Niko Sushi

The food is not bad but the service was disappointing. We came in and were asked about drinks right away, but we wanted to ask for something else and our server just turned around and left not giving us a chance to order everything we wanted. The menu is not too big, no pictures, I used yelp pictures to choose what I wanted. We waited for 15 minutes ready to order and they would just walk by not stopping or asking if we were ready. The food came and it was nothing special, California roll was dry. I was pretty surprised to find out that they charge for sauces. The most disappointing part was that we werent asked if we want refills, not even once, everyone at the table had empty cups and 3 waitress walking by didnt notice. At the beginning of our dinner it was busy, but towards the end it wasnt as bad anymore so I hope we would get little bit more attention.

VIPs Cafe
18345 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
VIP's cafe is welcoming, serving classic staple food with a bang for your buck. Here's the break down.Environment:As mentioned, very welcoming with a mom and pop diner vibe. The waiters and waitresses will fix you up, if any trouble comes when deciding what to order. The interior has recently (couple years now) been refurbished, offering a nice mid century blend. There are plenty of seats whether it be dining at the counter, with two people, four people, or a party of 6+. Lastly, there tables situated in the patio, facing Ventura Blvd, with shade offered.Food & Drinks:They offer a vast menu for food and drinks, whether it be for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. You can't go wrong with the pancakes, French toast, and staple breakfast options. The burgers are standard sized, I believe their pattys blended by VIP's. Lastly, it's a great spot to sip on some mimosas, thank me later.Overall:VIP's is a classic spot to go to whether it be a lunch break, time alone, or gathering with friends and family. The interior elicits mid century dining (furniture). A well cleaned restaurant with hospitable workers and owners. The food is well portioned, and honestly for the price it is a bang for your buck. The food isn't extraordinary, but rather nostalgic and filling, it's not meant to be a Michelin oriented plate or experience. Example, the cheeseburger ($13) comes with two sides, whether you want onion rings, coleslaw (try this one out, imagine taking some to go and putting it on some bbq), fries, or some of their other side options. If you've read up to this point, I always like to leave a bit of crumbs to the readers. Free validation for the parking lot, with vast amount of parking. Coffee comes with free refills. Tons of famous people come to this cafe, just take a look at their walls with pictures of such people.

Overall:My experience at Kravings was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the evening. Every aspect of my visit exceeded my expectations, making it a memorable dining experience.Food:The food at Kravings was simply divine. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the rich and vibrant flavors of Brazilian cuisine. The meats were perfectly grilled, tender, and juicy, while the sides were fresh and flavorful. The variety offered at the churrasco station was impressive, and every bite was a delight. I highly recommend trying the Picanha and the Brazilian cheese bread, both of which were outstanding.Drinks:The drink menu at Kravings was equally impressive. The caipirinhas were expertly crafted, balancing the sweetness and tartness perfectly. The wine selection complemented the meal beautifully, and the staff was knowledgeable in recommending pairings. The tropical cocktails added an extra touch of Brazilian flair, making the beverage experience as enjoyable as the food.Service:The service at Kravings was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, always ready to assist with a smile. They went above and beyond to ensure that every need was met promptly. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the dining experience even more enjoyable.Ambience:The ambience at Kravings was perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The decor was stylish and modern, with a hint of Brazilian charm. The lighting and music created a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and group gatherings. The overall vibe was lively and welcoming, adding to the overall dining experience.Yes, without a doubt! Kravings is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Brazilian cuisine in a wonderful setting. I will definitely be recommending it to all my friends and family.
Cicis Cafe
18912 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356, United States
Seating:We got there around 2pm and they close at 3pm and they were extremely busy. We were a party of 4. Outside and inside were full. Despite that, we were still seated around 30 minutes. This surprised me due to how busy they were.Customer Service:They had plenty of servers and they all helped all tables. Refills and or if you needed anything was no issue.Food Wait:Please note the wait was long. Although I do have a saying Ive learned when it comes to good food Good food takes time. Not sure if its like that all the time. We waited about 45 minutes after we ordered our food to receive our first plate. The plates did come at separate times. Or it may take a long time due to their large selection of the food menu.Coffee:Soda is soda, juice is juice (unless freshly squeezed), and bottled drinks are bottled drinks. I added the coffee for real coffee drinkers. Their brewed coffee is better than most places. However, they ran out of there brewed coffee and brought my wife a refill from the French Press due to they were closed and they didnt want to brew a new pot of coffee. The coffee was exceptionally smooth and brewed correctly. No bitter taste. Please note we drink our coffee straight no sugar or creamers added.Food:We ordered 5 things. Chicken Curry with Lava Omelet, Beef Panang Curry with Lava Omelet, Mac and Cheese with a side of fries, Green Tea Taramasu Pancakes, and shrimp fried rice.Chicken Curry with Lava Omelet:Curry: had great flavor. However, it was a little watery. But the bold flavor compensated for that. It had the right spices. FYI: There was a slight sweetness to it.Chicken:Was tender and not dry. Wasnt all chicken breast. It was a mix of cutsEgg:Was cooked right. When cut open it did flow like lava.Rice:Well cooked not to mushy or undercooked.Over all:Flavor was on point and all worked together to create an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Wouldnt say it exploded the Umami but it was very good.Panang Beef Curry with Lava Omelet:Beef: seemed to be Flank Steak. Very juicy and not over cooked.Cury: was very flavorful. This was a thicker curry sauce. More what I am used too in a curry. It was very sweet. If youre into sweet food this would be great for you.Rice: was same consistency as the chicken curry.Egg: was the same consistency of the chicken curry.Overall:For a curry based dish I would say it was better than the chicken curry overall (if your into sweet food). Please note both had great flavor and worth trying.Green Tea Taramasu Pancakes:Fluffy and very flavourful. Sauce was on point. Sorry no picture as the kids started to devour them once they arrived.Shrimp Fried Rice:Please note my son ordered it and he asked for no veggies. Even then the rice was really delicious! Rice was very flavourful and not mushy. I would say the shrimp seemed like an afterthought. They just put them on top. On the plus side they were jumpo shrimp. I think the shrimp should have been sauted or cooked with the rice to add flavor to them. Although it had no veggies it was still flavourful. I would highly recommend it.Mac and Cheese:I was a littles disappointed. I thought becuase of the calaber of the rest of the food that the Mac and Cheese would be a gourmet Mac and Cheese. seemed like it was a box Mac and Cheese. No flavor. But its Mac and Cheese, what do you expect I guess.Fries:They were cooked good. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. They did lack salt. Almost like they forgot to add salt.Overall:I highly recommend this restaurant and would most definitely come back. Please note I Iive 3:30 hours away.
