Amazing Indian food!This is a unique place with a smaller menu of amazingly well prepared dishes.I strongly recommend the avocado Chaat!!The apricot fig salad was incredible!UPDATE or second review:I dont write reviews every time we go somewhere, but this place is so good I need to update the review every so often. So we had not been here in a while just busy and its a little bit out of our way, but the good is really good so we had time to run over here later in the evening about an hour before closing.I cant tell you enough that everything Ive tried is just amazingly delicious. I have been wanting to try to mixed vegetable coconut curry, so today I finally ordered it.Im going to tell you to order the next time you go there its amazing. The coconut curry sauce was delectable Ive never had a sauce quite like this one it was just amazing, the coconut was obvious but not over powering, and the other flavors in the sauce mixed well and complimented each other. I was amazed at the crispness of the vegetables, they were absolutely the perfect texture cooked just enough, but still crunchy. I will tell you no matter what you order it will be delicious, but do yourself a favor and try this mixed vegetable coconut curry!

As soon as I took my first bite I was instantly transported to the streets of India. Each dish tastes homemade. The chicken biryani is the best I’ve had in any Indian restaurant in the Sacramento area. Honestly, I haven’t found a better Indian restaurant anywhere else in Northern California. All the others have been terrible and don’t even come close to the authenticity of this Indian restaurant. Even the service was top notch. Our server was the manager (I believe his name was Sagar) and he was a very nice guy. I will definitely be coming back to try more authentic Indian delights

I moved to Granite Bay a few months ago from Fremont, CA. I definitely miss the diversity of restaurants that could be found in the SF Bay Area. I was pleased to find Avatars close by, and I enjoy the taste of their dishes. Their cauliflower appetizer is delicious and the curry dishes hit the spot. I appreciate that their menu features gluten free and vegetarian options for those who have dietary restrictions. My husband and I have mostly gone there during lunch hours, so we have not experienced the service at a busy time. Ive found the staff to be consistently thoughtful and polite, and I am sure that the staff available works as efficiently as possible to serve those dining there, both during low-key and fast-paced times of the day.

They were very friendly and accommodating of our toddler. Everything came out mild, which was edible for our 2 yr old.My hus said the Makhani Paneer was okay. The chicken biryani was very saucy, but still delicious.We got Roti, Makhani Paneer, Chicken Biryani, and Mango Lassi. Our bill w tip came out to ~$50. Good value for the portions!

This is a gem of an Indian restaurant. The Spinach Potato Kofta is my favorite dish by far. The potato dumplings were rich and amazing. The ground lamb and cheese kabab had a lovely flavor and was delicious with the three sauces. The spicy sauce is super spicy! The restaurant is very cozy and decorated to enhance your experience. Love it, will be back regularly!

Just after our first visit, it became one of our favorite Indian places in the area! Stepping in the first thing we noticed is the decor and its really well done; from the God pictures on the wall, to the table cloth to the wall painting and the other small knick knacks. Absolutely loved how they have done up the place and a lot of the elements brought up the memories of my childhood home. Its tasteful without being stereotypical or tacky. Coming to the food, we ordered: black garam daal, spinach kofta, garlic coriander Naan and onion naan and really enjoyed it. It was perfectly flavourful and well definitely be going back to try other items on the menu. But the thing that stood out the most and will keep us going again and again is the warmth and hospitality of the staff and management, which is reflected in all their customer interactions. If youre looking for good Indian food in the Folsom/Roseville/Granite Bay area, this place should definitely be on your list!

What a wonderful experience! The space is cute and cozy, the music subtle and the decor tasteful. The staff was not only friendly and welcoming, but also helpful.To start, we ordered the sweet and sour cauliflower appetizer. The cauliflower had a nice crunch and the sauce was both sweet and tangy.We followed that with garlic and cilantro naan, which was crispy and delicious. We dipped it in the sauce from our two entrees, the spinach potato kofta and lamb vindaloo.The kofta had little dumplings made from mashed spinach and potato. The red sauce was tangy and just hot enough (we ordered medium heat) the cheese in the sauce offered a nice creamy texture. The vindaloo was delicious, with the lamb flavor infused throughout the rich brown sauce.We ordered the basmati rice to accompany our entrees. We will definitely be coming back here.

We had Avatar’s cater our wedding reception and they did an incredible job and were very proactive about making sure our requests were met. Going in for the tasting, everything was incredible, especially the avocado chaat! All the guests were raving about how delicious the food was, and Keshav and Sagar even added nice signs to let everyone know what was in each dish. Highly recommend a stop here you won’t be disappointed!

Outstanding authenticity in flavors, Naan is amazingly perfect, and the Kashmiri Lamb is very tender, spiced just right(I ordered spicy) and portions were just right. We had a take out order and it was complete disappointment. I am not sure what style of cooking they follow, but this is not Indian style of cooking.Chicken tikka masala - huge under cooked chunks of chicken in plain tomato sauce. How can you go wrong with tikka masala sauce?Lamb and cheese kabab - where are the flavors? Just ground rolled meat is not called kabab.Saag Paneer - no flavors.They could not even make raita properly.I am surprised with the high ratings this restaurant has received. Defintely not our experience.If someone is craving Indian food, I would not suggest this place. Either travel to Folsom orr Roseville to eat at an authentic Indian place.

My wife and I ate dinner there last week. We were immediately seated without a reservation. The owner was very attentive and unexpectedly treated us to several dishes and drinks due to a very slight wait for our order. We eat out a lot and have had Indian cuisine many times. The food was very tasty and fresh coupled with the enthusiastic service i would highly recommend this restaurant and it will be a regular visit when we eat out!

Some of the best tasting food you’ll have. Unbelievable fresh and priced very fairly. I’ve been to a bunch of various Indian restaurants and have had multiple bad experiences with the food. However, Avatar is cut from a different cloth. Every since I went for the first time several months ago, I find myself going back once every couple of weeks or so.

A place that takes a fine dining approach to Indian food. Dont expect the ubiquitous giant portions of generic food based on one of 3 sauces. They actually make the dishes named on the menu. And the small, selective menu shows originality and flair from the owner!They play a much too loud unlicensed stream of YouTube Indian music which means you get loud ads every so often. Thats a shame. They splurged on the decor though and its great.

Shaunt & staff were so welcoming and friendly! This is the first time eating here. The BEST INDIAN FOOD EVER!! The restaurant is clean and filled with beautiful decor! We had the lamb leg, basmati rice, butter chicken, onion & plain Naan and the most delicious samosas ever! Hot, lightly crisp on outside soft and full of wonderful spices with potatoes inside. The food was amazing when the restaurant first opened. The last two times we ate at Avatars it has been less than good. Very little flavor and very mild curry sauces. I thought it might have been an off day. The last we ordered takeout and probably our last time order wing from Avatars, they got our order mixed up and sent home with the wrong person. I waited an additional 20 min for my order to be remade. Nothing was comped not offered a beverage or anything else while I waited at the cash register bar area. Once home, again the food was very bland. I hope they start preparing the food as it was when they opened originally. If I see better reviews I’ll try again.

I recently visited Avatar Indian Bistro and was blown away by the incredible food and exceptional service. The manager, Prashant, was amazing - he was friendly, attentive, and made sure that everything was perfect.The food itself was delicious. I tried the Eggplant Bhartha for lunch and it was cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices. The dish was bursting with flavor and I loved every bite. The Cilantro naan was also amazing - it was soft and fluffy with just the right amount of cilantro flavor.But what really stood out to me was the service. My business colleague and I went there for lunch based on another business colleagues recommendation. We were not disappointed. We had the Tandori Chicken, Lamb Kofta, Lamb Curry and Garlic Naan. Every bite was bursting with an abundance of flavor. The way Indian food is supposed to taste! The tandori chicken was so delicious and juicy. It tasted better than the tandori chicken Ive had at the Ritz Carlton in Bangalore. The service was also phenomenal. Well done to the entire staff. Definitely made me a loyal customer.

What a gem of a place with both authentic and eclectic fusion Indian dishes cooked to perfection. The samosas we ordered for starters came with 3 delicious chutneys and were definitely one of the best we’ve had. Makhani Paneer, Avatar Black Graham Daal, Banjara Chicken Curry and Nawabi Lamb kebabs with butter naan and Roji Roti were all outstanding. The dishes were thoughtfully presented, flavorful and fresh. Sagar was very hospitable and charming. Much to our delight, he offered free refills on the piping hot and delicately seasoned Masala chai! Highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely be back with our friends!
