We wanted to try some other place in the same block, but it wasnt open so my friend said lets try this place. I was pleasantly surprised as the bahn mis actually quite delicious. Tasty meat, cucumbers, carrots and cilantro were sandwiched between fresh french bread. I would have liked a bit more veggies but overall it was still pretty decent. An added plus is the owners super friendly. I recommend this place.

Wonderful spot! Yummy Banh Mi!! We got the grilled chicken and grilled pork Banh my and an egg roll. Tasted super fresh. Bread was perfect. Super customer service to. Lovely family owned shop.

Outstanding banh mis!!!!! Bread crust/crumb well made! Give it a try, I ordered almost the entire sandwich spread as I normally do with a new Banh Mi shop I visit. Very good iced Vietnamese coffee. I plan on visiting again to order the remaining menu items.

Consistently delicious, fresh, quick, and very friendly. I love that I live right around the corner from this spot. I look forward to exploring the whole menu but the classic grilled pork banh mi (B.6) is solid. I am especially impressed by the texture and flavor of the bread. I always get a Thai iced tea too.

Not to be confused with Pho San Marcos literally next door. This place is run two Vietnamese (?) women. They make great sandwiches on a baguette. We also ordered spring rolls which are not on the menu, but they saran wrapped it and they stayed moist and fresh even after we opened them 8 hours later. Food is prepared to order, so your patience is appreciated. Definitely worth the wait and very tasty!

Great sandwiches and their chicken curry with BREAD is very good. Now to the moron complaining about masks and food prep - per CDCThe risk of getting COVID-19 from food you cook yourself or from handling and consuming food from restaurants and takeout or drive-thru meals is thought to be very low. Currently, there is no evidence that food is associated with spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.So as long as they wear a mask when interacting with a customer or within 6 feet then all is good.

Highly recommended. Very similar bahn mi taste to what you can find throughout the all the districts of Saigon. Prices are a bit high but I find it well worth it. Highly recommend adding pate to your sandwich.

Such a diamond in the rough! We werent too familiar with how to order. But we said we wanted a sandwich with meat similar to bulgogi & the owner recommended the grilled beef sandwich with everything. It was perfect. The baguette, the marinated meat, the crunchy and refreshing veggies. We also got some fried spring rolls and shrimp fresh rolls. The icing on the cake was the hefty cup of peanut sauce. We love Thai, and this sauce was spot on. We also got refreshing boba teas. The spot is small and there were a couple ppl waiting. The food came out fast for the to go orders and by the time we knew it, our food reached the table. The owner was so nice, setting our meal utensils and napkins in front of us. When we opened the sandwiches and saw that cross section-HEAVEN. Next time we are going to try the vermicelli noodles. The service was fast and given so lovingly. I definitely absolutely recommend.

Ive been a regular here since 2015 and have seen two changes of ownership. The quality of their food hasnt dropped in that time, it may have gotten better. The prices have risen a bit since then, but I think thats expected if you want to maintain quality. Their curry is authentic and excellent (using boneless chicken leg-meat, yum!), and so is their flan which is way lighter and less sugary than other types of flan. I heard a customer comment that their Thai tea is way cheaper than other places as well. This is the type of family-run restaurant that we shouldnt allow to go under because of COVID restrictions. Under new ownership. The new owner is nicer and more pleasant to deal with. Shes very friendly and always smiling. Theyve added more offerings to their menu. The banh mi here is still very good, maybe even a tad bit more improved than before.

We moved 2 years ago and came back to visit. This was the first place on our list for lunch as we used to love the Bahn Mi here. They changed their bread!!!! Now it’s just like every other Bahn Mi spot. Really disappointing and all the prices went up by like 25%.

This restaurant is wonderful. A little spot thats easy to miss, get lunch or grab to go banh mi sandwiches. They are made just right with some spicy jalapeño and crunchy french bread. You cant beat the price either! No other restaurant has sandwiches less than $5 (or are there? Tell me, seriously:)Seriously though, I could not be happier to find this place. Ever since Ks sandwiches in kearny mesa shut down there has been a hole in my culinary heart.Thank you to the sweet people at Banh Mi San Marcos for giving me a great lunch, youre my favorite San Marcos restaurant right now for reals.

I just wanted a sandwich. I was looking forward to all day. Then I walk in, and nothing, 2 employees content just letting me stand there waiting to order for over 10 minutes. 1 was on the phone, the other staring awkwardly at me from the kitchen. I finally walked out. The food has always been great, but with service like that Ill never be back. Time to find a new sandwich shop.

French Baguettes at a Vietnamese restaurants. Well to be fair this place is all about the sandwich and less about say Vietnamese food. The equivalent to the po boy. Its a skinny French baguette filled with assorted meats, daikon, jalapeno, carrots and a buttery mayo. After years of latenight Lees in Orange county I was craving something a little closer to home. Lees has the distinction of being open late, really late and having a large menu of inexpensive, what I call snacks, 1 is never enough. This is not lees, they are larger, meatier, but for some reason I still prefer the daikon and slightly less expensive version from Lees. I like the larger, softer rolls they use here and man do they slather on the buttery mayo. It either masked the jalapeno or the jalapeno was weak and didnt complete the flavor experience. I love how their #1 is just a combination of 4 other sandwiches. Came out pretty quick and just a part of a ducket more expensive they get the leg up on the bread alone. The shop is small and they offer a clear noodle soup which sounded interesting, probably not pho, but something else. Ill be back, I must make the menu my own.
