Fantastic experience here. If you are on the fence about trying please consider giving this spot a try. The food is fantastic, my girlfriend and I got the beef and spicy pork bowls and they were delicious.The owner is a incredibly friendly guy and our server was extremely friendly and attentive. They even took the time to talk to us and engage in casual conversation. Felt like I was in a friend’s kitchen, especially sitting at the bar.Support your local businesses and give this place a shot, they have an intentionally small menu because they care about quality over quantity and it shows!
Delicious food, adequate portions. Each entre is designed for 1 person. You should definitely try the mandu (Korean dumplings) as a side or appetizer.
Casual delicious spot right near the wharf. Newly opened the bulgogi was great, and the fried softshell crabs were some of the best Ive ever enjoyed at any kind of restaurant. Service was prompt, friendly, and thorough. Slightly on the pricey side but portions are generous and you get every dollar of what you pay for. Its a nice change up of choices in the area to have some Korean food.
Cute little place with friendly staff & delicious food. The chef came out and spoke with us a bit, very gregarious and proud of his restaurant! The ramen was amazing, spicy pork Bulgogi was as well! Dining area is pretty small so get there early.
Bulgogi House is a small Korean restaurant located on Alvarado Street in downtown Monterey. This small restaurant is a nice place for Korean cuisine. The customer service is friendly and attentive and the food is nicely prepared. The prices are fair for a restaurant located in downtown Monterey and the portions are appropriate. The one downside is that parking can be somewhat difficult during lunch hours and dinner time.
This place was GREAT! Excellent flavors and good sized portions. We split spicy chicken bulgogi. Well be getting extra spicy next time, as it wasnt very spicy. If youre gonna be splitting bulgogi, an extra order of rice would be good. Also, the kimchi is incredible! Some of the best Ive ever had. Definitely recommend this spot.
Friendly staff, service and food were excellent. We ordered the spicy chicken bulgogi and an app of dumplings. Both orders came at the appropriate time and were so tasty. Highly recommended!
Had to sample some Spicy Pork Bulgogi at Bulgogi House and did not leave disappointed. The spicy pork came out sizzling hot and tasted great.A bit pricey for the portion size but with inflation everywhere else seems to suffer from the same issue.All that being said, Ill definitely be back and recommend.
If youre craving Korean food, this place will not disappoint. The spicy ramen was adequate. However, I enjoyed the Kal bi along with the very friendly customer service.
Food was quick and delicious. Never had this style of Korean bbq but it was really good. Recommend sitting at the bar, the owners were extremely friendly.

2023-06-18 23:24:02We decided to stop here because of the long lines at other places across the street and the high ratings. The service was super friendly and fast. The small store seemed like it had one person cooking and one person serving, which made it feel more intimate.At our table, we had the spicy pork plate (pictured), ramyeon, bulgolgi, and kalbi. I thought the spicy pork was delicious and the kalbi was also quite good. The bulgolgi was okay and my daughter loved the ramyeon (only offered mild or spicy; she ate the mild, but noted it was still spicy for her).Will definitely go back.

The noodle is no better than the instant noodles you could buy from Costco and the spicy chicken is also not authentic Korean flavour. We have very close Korean friends and had visited many good Korean restaurants in the Bay Area, I am afraid this one doesn’t live up to our standards. Also the server is more interested in discussing his personal interests with some solo eaters than helping us getting an extra bowel for our kids despite of being asked multiple times, even he politely answered “yes,ma’am”.

2023-11-21 07:04:04Stopped for lunch on a road trip and loved this place. Service was fast and friendly, food was great. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time so the chef/owner came over and gave us a little show by finishing off the bulgogi plates with a blowtorch. We chatted with him for a while and felt like we were really treated as friends, not just another check to collect. Will definitely be stopping in again next time we are in the area.

2023-09-02 01:07:56This restaurant may be small, but it leaves a big impact. The food is well prepared and the service is swift and courteous. Having lived in South Korea for 3 years, I can tell authentic food and this is the real deal. And although the price may be high, there are items on the menu for every budget, and the owner only uses quality meats from good sources. There is so much care put into the food. I highly recommend for anyone interested in Korean food.

2023-04-28 00:03:30We got in right before lunch rush and they made sure to get our order in so that we could get our food first. Staff was so nice and the food was delicious. Our waitress asked if we wanted her to take a picture for us. Would definitely come again next time I visit Monterey :)

2023-06-11 00:08:53It is not a big menu but everything was really fresh and delicious and came out surprisingly fast. Great service. Upscale restaurant but they had a family-friendly bathroom (big enough to bring in a stroller and had a changing table)! We will definitely be back!
