Bulgogi House
413 Alvarado St, Monterey, CA 93940, United States
Bulgogi House is a small Korean restaurant located on Alvarado Street in downtown Monterey. This small restaurant is a nice place for Korean cuisine. The customer service is friendly and attentive and the food is nicely prepared. The prices are fair for a restaurant located in downtown Monterey and the portions are appropriate. The one downside is that parking can be somewhat difficult during lunch hours and dinner time.
Lees Tofu
2119 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Its possible that Lees Tofu is the ONLY Korean restaurant in Eastmont and the adjoining areas. Because of this, and the absence of competition, I wasnt expecting much. But it was a great surprise! The tofu stew was rich with ingredients, and the banchans were very good - Standouts were the cucumbers, the napa kimchi, and the marinated boiled potato. The only thing that I would say I missed was fried croaker. If they served fried croaker with the banchans then I would say that Lees tofu was as good as any place in Koreatown!Extra points for service - Banchans were re-filled without having to ask.I ordered a combo with spicy pork and there was a huge amount of pork served sizzling on a platter, quite spicy and delicious! The interior of the restaurant is fairly plain, similar to BCD tofu in Koreatown, for example. Music was slightly loud for my taste - Im sure they would have turned it down had I asked.
The Clam House
133 W Garvey Ave Ste C, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
I recently dined at The Clam House, a Korean restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The interior decor was sleek and modern, which added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Now lets talk about the food. The menu had a great selection of dishes, including some Korean classics as well as some unique fusion options. The portions were generous, and the presentation was top-notch.Overall, I highly recommend The Clam House to anyone looking for a fantastic Korean dining experience. The service, ambiance, and food were all exceptional, and I cant wait to go back again soon.(Edit): I took my family and they loved it! I left them a note on the thing they gave me. Not sure what its called ^^)
Oh My Chicken
2300 S Garfield Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Great Korean fried chicken restaurant around Monterey Park and Montebello areas. The price is decent compared to those in KTown. I got here on Sunday afternoon, and it took me 15 mins for my pickup order. The chickens are freshly fried and very crispy at the time I ate them. Definitely recommend it
Big Grill BBQ & Teriyaki
15858 Monterey Hwy, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, United States
Big Grill BBQ is small but wonderful. We are happy to find a great little Korean restaurant in Morgan Hill!!!
Manduyo
1975 Potrero Grande Dr A, Monterey Park, CA 91755, United States
Wow! This restaurant is a little gem in Monterey Park. It is amazing how much delicious food could be packed in a tiny box. All my favorites are here, fried egg with runny yolk, lots of meat, melted cheese, grilled Kim chi, and fresh spring mix salad on a bed of rice. I ate half and felt like I need to take a nap. I still have half of the box left.Price is $18+ tax for this box. It might seem a bit high, but you are getting 2 meals for the price of 1. In comparison, A regular burger combo is $13 from a chain restaurant and the only “meat” you get is a ground beef patty.I would definitely come back to try the Mandu, which is the name of the restaurant and other modern Korean food. Most important the food is delicious and it’s prepared fresh.

Kokoro Japanese Restaurant
2207 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Better than I expected. I dont usually go to Monterey Park to eat sushi, but just happened to when I visited Kokoro recently. This is a casual Japanese eatery that has sushi and other Asian foods, even Korean-inspired dishes like bbq short ribs. The food was tasty all around. I give them big props for using high quality fish for their sushi and sashimi. For the most part, it was melt-in-your-mouth, flavorful, and fresh. It definitely felt more elevated than what the casual atmosphere is like.I think the raw marinated crab and shrimp is also a winner here. Its pretty much like what you find at Korean seafood restaurants, but the difference is that it is reasonably priced here compared to what Korean spots charges these days. I mean, $35 a crab. Not terribly bad compared to market value.Yes, this spot is safe. I would definitely come back again.
Craft Roots
17230 Monterey Hwy, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, United States
UPDATE: 11-5-2020So we went back a couple of weeks ago and had an amazing experience. The owner Justin is an awesome guy and was very helpful with explaining the types of food choices they offer. Again the wife and I arent vegetarian but the Chili Burger I had and the pizza she had were excellent. The pumpkin seed chili really tasted like chili. The pizza crust and cashew cheese were very good as well.As an unabashed carnivore, I can totally eat at Craft Roots and not feel like I am missing anything.Their bar manager Nicholas is great as well. I challenged him to come up with a Prohibition type cocktail for me and even though his alcohol selection is somewhat limited due to some alcohols not being vegan, he made me a Gimlet that did indeed give the essence of a Prohibition drink. Kudos to him. If you arent in the mood for vegetarian food, try stopping by for a drink. They have beer, cider and kombucha on tap as well as great cocktails. So now I see why Craft Roots has so many 5-star ratings. The food, the drinks and the people that work there are all outstanding. The wife and I are not vegetarians but we try to eat as healthy as possible and have been including some vegetarian options in our diet lately. Decided to give Craft Roots a shot last weekend for lunch. I called and asked a couple of questions before coming down as I was curious as to what their cheeze is made out of. I was told that it was made from Coconut and does indeed taste like cheese. So we drove down and placed our order for 2 burgers. I got the Western BBQ burger, (BBQ sauce, crispy onions, pickles and American cheeze) and asked for the BBQ on the side. The wife got the CR Burger, without cheeze. We both got salads instead of fries with vinagrette dressing. We ordered the food to go and got some drinks to have while we waited. Craft Roots features hard and regular Kombucha on tap as well as cider and many beers. They also have some pretty imaginative cocktails available. I think Ill try the Kombucha mule next time we visit. The food took about 15 minutes and when we got home unfortunately we found that our orders had been messed up. Neither of our burgers had cheeze, (I was disappointed because I wanted to see what Coconut cheese tasted like), and neither of our salads had dressing on them. Also, my burger had the BBQ sauce on it instead of on the side. Ill give them a pass as Im sure Covid has things pretty chaotic for any restaurant right now. But the burgers were indeed tasty and the employees were super friendly. The only knock Ill give Craft Roots is their pricing. $17 for a veggie burger is pretty steep in my opinion.Im sure well be back in the future. Ill probably just make sure to check my food before leaving next time.
Duffys Tavern & Family Restaurant
282 High St, Monterey, CA 93940, United States
We have dined at Duffys over the years but not for quite a while. On this last visit, we decided to order some food to go. It was wonderful! My husband had the yummy Irish Stew with beef, potatoes and carrots which he loved and also ordered a Chili Beef Dog, which he said was as good as it gets! I ordered the Sourdough Patty Melt with Cheddar Cheese and Grilled Onions and Fries. We also got a Cobb Salad with Turkey, our favorite. Everything was excellent! I want to sample the Garden Burger, next time. We see lots more items we want to try in the future and well be back soon. Nestled next to DLI, I love that it caters to the hard-working students who are mastering languages like Mandarin, Korean, Arabic and many others who need a good, reliable restaurant for comfort food and a nice atmosphere, both inside and out. A not-to-be missed Monterey tradition - check it out!!!
