Nice burgers at the heart of La Jolla in San Diego, really close to the main street with a scenic view. The place is somewhat crammed very small if your group is larger than 4 or 5 people. Affordable for the zone.

Location can be tough to find parking.Chefs need to slow down with orders. They aren’t paying attention to detail and that’s scary for someone who has to watch what they eat.They will get ur bun or patty wrong.Or even the type of onion you want wrong. So double check what u order.Wasn’t a fan of the gluten free bread. Feel like I wasted $20 here and wasted so much time for a pick up.Went back 3 times to fix my order. And I can see the chef in the back just reusing my burger and trying to fix it instead of making me a new one. Ended up with a cold burger and the bun torn apart and barely together.The guys at the register were nice. I appreciate the help.

I really like this place but I recently ordered fries thinking it would be quick. It took 15 minutes for a fry when I was the only customer there...standing alone waiting. I was about ready to ask for a refund and just leave. I guess other tasks took priority over customer service? Then when I got home I saw the fries...I got like all the bruised soggy gross cold fries. So I changed my review from a dissatisfied 3 star to a soggy cold gross 1 star. ):

Service exceptionally poor and food not great. Dirty cramped restaurant and no restroom. Atmosphere is similar to what I imagine a zombie apocalypse would be like. Shame as this chain is good but this particular location is awful. Only consider this particular location if everything is booked and you haven’t eaten for a week or two.

I was just at this location and ordered a turkey burger and a lounge burger. I had to wait a long time for my meal. They provided me with a husky burger and a lounge burger. I asked the server which was the turkey and she said she didnt know. She went to ask the cool who told her the well done one was. My partner bit a piece of both burgers and they were both beef patties. I took them back to the manager which confirmed they were both beef. They took both burgers to reuse in other orders and asked me to wait more for my correct order. I had already waited a long time before. I asked for a refund and it became a difficult situation just to obtain. They only wanted to provide a half refund which they did at first. After I continued to complain they refunded the rest. Avoid this place. It seems they are doing unethical things with food return and other orders. Im never going back as I cant trust what they serve me.

Great staff, decent food, small but didnt have a wait. The burgers are good, the crispy chicken tasted fresh, and the half and half fries/onion rings were just right. We spilt the half and half with 3 and it was the perfect size.

Great tasting burgers, fried, and onion rings. They also have an independent drink fountain with cane sugar cola and ginger beer. Their seating area is tiny and you may have a tough time finding somewhere to sit with your group. The food was very good though

This is my number 1 burger place now!! They have 4-5 choices of burgers including the veggie, turkey and cod options. So not many choices, but they do each of those well.I took the regular beef burger, my boyfriend took the husky (double Patty) and my friend took the veggie one. Ahh, these are so good! We were crazy hungry after an evening at the cove. We all took meals - mine came with fantastic onion rings, the other two with fries. All in all I LOVE these burgers and onion rings. Even their barbeque sauce was interesting! They have ginger beer on tap, which excited me. The ginger beer is more sugar than ginger though, so a little disappointing.Overall, great first time and will definitely choose the double Patty burger next time :)

This may seem like a superfluous post, but I have discovered all Burger Lounges are not created equal.I love my grass fed burgers and had not tried this BL in La Jolla~ and it is WELL WORTH the visit to La Jolla for their 100% BETTER burger and fries. Every aspect, from the tomato, lettuce, pickles, cheese and bun were much fresher and better prepped.Of course, the ambiance is better, too~after all it is in the village! I was so excited to stop here for vegetarian nuggets. They didn’t bother to tell me they were out until they delivered my husband’s food, which took well over 20 min. So I ordered something else, and that took probably another 20-30 min to arrive even though there weren’t that many people there. After all that waiting, my “ancient grains burger” was just total mush. The veggies on my sandwich seemed fresh and my husband enjoyed his burger, but nothing to write home about. His onion rings were super oily. Overall, I ended up waiting an hour to eat one of the worst veggie burgers I’ve had in a long time.

Disappointing burger :( the bun and burger fell apart. Our burgers had no flavor! The ingredients tasted cheap. Very upsetting knowing this location was the first!! Not what it use to be; however, i gave it a second chance in their Los Angeles location and it was just like in the good days. I guess avoid their La jolla location. It will let you down.

Pros: The burgers are excellent and full of flavor; very tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Cons: The portion size on the large French fries is disappointing. Either I received the wrong size or it’s just small. Let’s face it, any burger connoisseur knows there must be a certain ratio of fries to bites of a burger. You must, at minimum, have 2-3 fries left as a chaser after your burger has been completely devoured. If there was an option for 4.5 stars, I would make it so.

Went at 8:15 to order they told me my food was going to be take out only even though they closed at 9. I said I am not going to take 45 minutes to eat so I sat and ate. Then I get served really cold fries and a cold turkey burger not great end of the night experience. I won’t be going back due to the way I was treated and the cold gross food I was served, which is over priced. Would have gotten better food at McDonald’s or the Habit. This is the worst burger lounge I have ever been to. It’s not like I showed up 10-15 minutes before and expected service. They also started washing the floors with dumping buckets of water everywhere including under my feet. I get they have to close, I worked in the food business myself and we never told people that they could only do take out 45 minute before especially since they served me cold food. There must be poor management here if these workers feel stressed to where they cut people off that early and serve cold food. Not coming back and I don’t recommend this place to anyone to have to feel like that when getting food.

Good food… but disappointed. Asked for mine plain with just ketchup; he asked for his without pickles. We saw as they took off all the topping off of mine after the fact when they realized (little pieces of lettuce still on the plate and on the bun…). And his tasted like pickles because they too had been removed. Ive worked in the restaurant industry before, when something is made wrong you REmake it, not remove toppings.

I got my order for pickup around 4pm today. First timer. Initial thoughts were the burger was flavorful and best onion rings ever. Unfortunately I’ve been with food poisoning shortly after I’ve finished my meal. Another downside was the kids meal was awful. Dry burger my kid would not eat, and pricey. Nobody would eat the chicken bites, they looked burned and I tried one, it was so dry and tasted burnt. The burger was so good that I really didn’t want it to be so, that it would made me sick. Maybe the onion rings are way too greasy? That’s all I’ve eaten today. Now I’m paying for it double, sick while I’m on vacation celebrating my kids birthday. 🥴😮‍💨🤮

This Burger Lounge used to be the best! There were two guys as the manager and assistant manager. They cared about the customers, they were professional, and always asked and made sure the customer was satisfied. I was never disappointed at the burgers or the overall experience.These two guys left a little over a year ago. And things went down hill. The burgers have absolutely no taste now. I just cant believe it. It literally tastes like cardboard. And it looks messed up.Whats worse is the unprofessional little girls they have working there now. No manners, respect or professionalism. All you get is attitude. They get upset when you order, when they bring the food, when you ask normal questions, or just by going there. Hi,I won’t even give it one star.So to start, we were two families together that the cashier decided to split it two receipts and still put us under the same table number.Which it was fine.Came to get our food, we had our daughter wait for more than 30 min and them saying that they don’t have the order and after that they said oh, we don’t make it anymore and then oh ok, we found the order which was a kids meal. Then the server comes back with only one item from the the whole order saying that was it. And when we explain it to him he came back and brought the rest of the order and was still missing ice cream. At this point we didn’t care because all we cared about is us all eating together after our food is been cold waiting on her to get her meal.Now comes the manager yelling at us in of other customers saying that we went inside the restaurant and cursed at his employees. Which we didn’t do. And he didn’t even give us a chance to talk and ordered us to leave immediatelyI am sorry, but if this is the treatment that your customers should be treated then this is unacceptable.I am looking for an explanation for his actions and a Video of us yelling and cursing at his employees so please waiting on your respond back.

Stopped here for a milkshake with family which werent bad. It was enjoyable but seemed to take long to receive our order.We ordered fries which took forever to get and were disappointing. They took far too long to receive and were soggy, flaccid and unattractive. They appeared to have been microwaved or reheated under a lamp because they were just not fresh or delicious.I did not interact with many employees, but the cashier was not friendly and seemed to be in a bad mood. After the transaction was completed I handed her the clip board I signed on and she threw it back down on the table. We attended the La Jolla Christmas parade and found this place afterwards. It is a pretty small corner restaurant modeled after a 1950s type diner. There is 1 restroom, and Im not entirely sure getting to the restroom is wheelchair accessible.There is a counter with diner barstools, and the counter faces a bunch of tall windows that appear to be able to open for an open air experience. They were closed when we were there. The place has large portions and decent prices for the amount of food you get.There is outside seating, and some of it is covered.I was happy to discover they have dairy free, cashew based, milkshakes.

I don’t often give bad reviews, but this experience deserves it. The staff seemed annoyed that we were even there. My friend ordered ranch dressing, and was pressured to order the vegan ranch. The chicken nuggets were falsely advertised. The picture of them looked like enough to feed on person, but the actual nuggets were tiny. When we confronted the staff, they said that is how they come packaged and walked away. When I went to refill my soda it was filled with cleaning product. I first figured out, when I took a sip of it, even though the staff were nearby and could have warned me. Definitely not coming back to this place.

Update on the service in March 2022:The staff at the cash registers was not looking up at me when I was the next to be served. Worse, when someone walked passed those of us waiting in line to go directly to the counter, she was served right away, ahead of the people in line who were just 2 steps away.When I eventually got to the counter, the smallish lady was very rude when I told her my order number displayed on my phone. I said I wasn’t sure what name was on the Google Food order. She had absolutely no smile on her face and just stared at me saying, “We use name!” She reminds me of an infamous famous character in Seinfeld who served soup. The food took 25 minutes from the time of the order, 10 minutes longer than the promised 15. Beware. So we ordered 2 burgers today to go. The one we ordered well done was bright pink inside a Medium rare. The Other burger we could not change the order to well done (it just wasn’t an option) but that one once we picked it up it was well done. The website says everything is medium … I don’t know about that because my burger was so pink I would say it was medium rare. Problem is we’re staying at a hotel and come to find out we have no microwave it’s been two hours and I still haven’t been able to eat my burger because I’m waiting on a microwave at our hotel. Beware…. If you don’t mind re-cooking it when you get home then no problem. The onion rings were excellent but the french fries I would never order again there was hardly any salt and they were cold and soggy. That little S.O.B. (burger) is worth its weight!! Burger Lounge is a little pricey, but it has the flavor to back it up. The fries were well cooked, but overall average in taste. For a small restaurant, it could have been cleaner. It wasnt dirty, but the garage cans should be emptied sooner. Small cans and a small storefront made it seem more unkept than it really was.

The service was excellent. Everyone will a mask and kept their distance as much as possible. They even paid attention that some of our group was adding mustard to the sandwiches and brought out extra without even being asked. Above and beyond service. The hamburgers are fried but very good quality. The French fries were excellent. Overall definitely worth a visit if youre in the mood for a burger in la Jolla.

I cant say whether Id go to a burger lounge again. The food was ok/good and the people were lovely, but the wait time was crazy and the price just way out of whack. Very expensive. I spent $50 for 3 burgers and fries, no drinks. Thats Red Robin $$ and they have way more choices/toppings, etc. Grass fed is important to me, yes, but just something is amiss and I cant really put my finger on it. I guess it was just way too expensive for what you received.

They have shields up to protect the staff and tables are spaced out properly. As for the food, I have been addicted to these burgers for years! Loved the burgers. Both the grass-fed Beef and Turkey Burgers were delicious. Didnt care much for the Fries, they were rather dry and on the salty side. Also enjoyed their Lavender/Mint and Hibiscus Lemonades. Both very refreshing. Would go there again if I find one of their restaurants in SF. Definitely recommend this place.

Great burgers, these burgers almost seem good for you. Fresh beef, fresh lettuce and tomato. The sauce is delicious. Don’t miss the onion rings and ask for some of the house made ranch dressing to dip them in. Shakes and small batch sodas complete the experience. We bought tickets to the Bird Acuarium but had two hours to kill before we could go in. We saw a place called Puesto and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately waiting time was 35-40 minutes so we saw Burger Lounge accross the street and decided to give it a try. We sat outside, 39 minutes later my wife goes in to check on our food and was told they were behind on orders. We waited a little more and right when I was ready to ask for a refund because we had to leave our food came out. We ate like in 5 minutes and took the kids meals with us. I had a bad experience but the food was good (I think, we ate too fast) I wish someone told me it was going to take that long so I could make the decision to wait or go somewhere else. I feel like I flushed $48 down the drain due to the bad experience.

I love this place! The burgers are great - juicy, fresh, and high quality toppings. Also, I highly recommend getting the onion ring and fry combo - its probably too much for one person, but great to share. Their ranch and BBQ sauces are both excellent also. The service here is top-notch. Everybody is so friendly, and they are quick to get you whatever you need - even drink refills from the self-serve drink machine. Had to sit on a curb to eat my food, their bar seating was closed due to covid restrictions but there was six bar chairs not being used and my family of five could have easily used them, not sure why they were not in use. They were very understaffed and it took a while to order food. When we got the food, I was extremely disappointed by the portioning sizes, I ended up eating my burger, fries, and someone else’s fries and I left still very hungry. I ate lunch here yesterday and had A great experience. The service was good, the food was great, but the restaurant only had restricted seating available. The weather was fine (it’s La Jolla), but would have been a problem if it was any cooler. That was the only fault I could find.The star of the show was the burgers as it should be. All wheat buns on most items. The burgers are big so bring an appetite with all grass fed hamburger. The fries come with garlic and parsley (along for the ride as color) and they are freaking fantastic. There are also a few other items that look great if you’re not in the mood for a burger (which begs the question as to why you’re in a burger joint).If you have a few minutes for lunch or dinner in La Jolla (or anywhere else you can fine one) definitely swing by Burger Lounge!

The only reason I gave it at 3 star was 1 staff was nice, 2 location was good, 3 they served beer, but the price its a little too much for a burger place. Then again what can you expect when you eat at a burger place in la Jolla? Pricey burgers. Lol. For 2 meal combos with two 14 oz beers it was almost $45. I thought that maybe the price would be reasonable once I tasted the burger, but the flavor just wasnt there and the burgers were really small. I’m a little old fashion when it comes to burgers because this is one of the few exception where I generally don’t enjoy truffles or foie gras muddling my little piece of America. I’m also very bitter about the fact that most people will ignore the quality of the bun while I consider it to be just as important as the patty! If I’m ranting and raving, I want to add that any burger that’s too large to fit into your mouth is ridiculous!The grass fed beef is tender, perfectly grilled outside while still pink inside. The patty is sandwiched between a fluffy and delicious bun, which is made up of a blend of organic whole wheat and organic white flour. All the cheese options are organic and the greens are always fresh and crisp. The most wonderful thing about this place is their house made sauces. They offer ranch, thousand island, and BBQ, and all of them are delicious! The ranch isn’t too heavy while still rich, the thousand island is tangy and creamy, and the BBQ has bright and sweet notes to compliment the tart.This is the Holy Grail people! Unfortunately for me, Burger Lounge is currently only available in San Diego and the LA area.

Outside seating is the best. Big juicy wet perferct burgers that take me a long time to eat. And your water comes in a bowl if you ask. Double Dog Friendly.

Great location near La Jolla Cove. Perfect after a morning swim, snorkleing, or diving. Staff are super friendly. Parking can be tough especially on weekends. Theres a $6/2hr spot nearby that we always use.

Unexceptional at best. Food was high priced and definitely lacking in value. Milkshakes were alright though. Then again theyd better be for $6 each.
