Very good food and wonderful service. I have tried a lot of things on their menu. This last time I had the Banana pancakes. There are bananas in the pancake mix and they top the cake off with walnuts on top with butter and syrup They give you 3 cakes I recommend this place

Its one of the best spots for casual outdoor dining, with tons of seating available in a large courtyard, but the food is average at best. I did enjoy my 3-egg scramble but it doesnt come with anything except the eggs. I would avoid the waffle which was pretty but very dense and not crisp on the outside.

Cafe Borrone was packed for Sunday (Fathers Day) morning brunch. Luckily, the nice weather doubled the seating capacity so we were able to find indoor sitting after placing our order.Our order arrived at our table in a few minutes. We had a Chimichurri Chicken Panini, a Tri Tip Sandwich and a Sausage Melt. All three were fantastic! The Tri Tip was our favorite but both the Chimichurri Chicken Panini and Sausage Melt were very good too.

I visited for the first time Cafe Borrone and I was happily surprised by its quality!I went there with my partner and it was busy. Nothing unusual in a sunny Sunday in a restaurant with such big outdoor dining space. But it was easy to find a table for us.We ordered the scramble eggs #6 with mushrooms and the banana pancakes. Food was delicious. And coffee was good too.

First time I have been here. Introduced by friends who been coming here for years. The grilled squid with beans starter dish was absolutely amazing. The best squid I have had in the Bay Area. Definitely coming back just to eat that. A taste of the Mediterranean. The quiche was good too. Everyone enjoyed there meals.

This was my first time at CB, and I must say I didn’t have an appreciation for how my food was prepared and plated. So, if you’re looking for plating to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the food, then this is not the restaurant for you.I ordered the #1, scrambled eggs (should say on the menu mixed together) with the organic potatoes, sautéed onion and thyme. I wasn’t not expecting my eggs and potatoes to literally be scrambled together. Because the potatoes were cut in different triangle thickness, some were undercooked.To enhance my breakfast experience I ordered the chicken sausage and a warm croissant(jams and jelly are an additional fee). Both items were decent. Over the food is nothing to write home about.

Great brunch place with quick service. You have to place the order by yourself at the counter and your food will be brought to your table. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.All of our food was fantastic! We tried the French Toast, Pastrami Melt and Chimichurri Chicken Panini. For drinks we had the Frosted Mocha and Cappuccino San Francisco.

Ive been coming to Cafe Borrone since I was a teenager in the early 90s, it never disappoints. Good food, good coffee, great location and service. My kids have loved coming here since they were young, we always grab breakfast/lunch here and go next door to Keplers to get a book.

We went for the live music (Friday nights, 6pm), we were not disappointed. We had a snack and then dinner, both were great. The Papa deli and parmesan was delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lots of seating indoors and out. I think they only open a few nights a week so check before going, but definitely put it on your to-do list.

Eggs are the only gluten free option. Day after thanksgiving called ahead and was told breakfast is served until 1. Arrived and stood in line for a solid 15-20 minutes looking at the (breakfast) menus outside. The ONLY menus outside. Arrive to the register finally at 12:15 after waiting in line and are told breakfast stops at 12 - so they hand us a lunch menu. We beg. We came here specifically for breakfast and there is nothing gluten free on lunch menu. Nope. They don’t care.

We have been regular at Cafe Borrone for years now. We have +1 this year :) and we realize they dont have amenities for children that youd expect from a location like this. They dont have high chairs or booster seats and they dont have changing tables in the bathrooms. The staff didn’t even care and act like they annoyed about the question.Looks like family friendly from outside but not at all!

Best French toast I’ve ever had. The salmon plate is also a hit. I love the freshly squeezed orange juice. One thing I’d mention is you need to order yourself in the front. Don’t expect a waiter to come get your order.

Came here for the first time on a weekend and it was hustling and bustling— the line was insane but moved relatively quickly. they don’t take apple pay as of now just something to keep in mind. once we did order though the food came out quickly but even though it was good i don’t think it was worth the entire wait from start to finish. nothing spectacular that blew me out of the water— especially considering how many times i heard the people waiting around me raving about the burrata… pricey for what it was and meh.

If it would have had more gluten free stuff, and wouldnt have been so expensive, Id rate it a strong 5 stars. The food was savory, large portions. I would have liked more salad options though. It was quite expensive but probably worth it for the quality and portions. I appreciated the outdoor section because my family was concerned about COVID inside. I would have killed for the burrata but Im lactose intolerant.

One of our go to spots to have coffee and a sandwich and catch up with good old friends. Its along El Camino in Menlo Park and has ample outdoor seating. Many bring their dogs along. And theres lots of free parking in the underground structure.

Great place!!! I am glad I find it with random searches. Parking is not hard, there’s a underground garage attached to it. They have a great varieties of breakfast choices and the line moves fast. I really enjoyed the scrambled eggs #6 on the menu - eggs, sautéed mushrooms and Roma tomato, organic spinach and garlic, very tasty.

Extremely busy but historic neighborhood cafe located in downtown Menlo Park. Avoid on weekends if waiting in lines is an issue. They are extremely popular and aren’t able to scale to the demand due to limited space. They sell a variety of brunch and cafe-like items. Sandwiches, plates, coffee, etc. the food here is great but the wait may not be worth it, unless you’re prepared for it. Parking is ample for two hours underground.

This is the classic European cafe that every city dreams to have. We ordered some French toast, mushroom scramble special, spicy sausage and they all tasted good. If you are looking for a really delicious and super food, here is not the proper place for you to have dinner. The food is really healthy but not really yummy.I tried the appetizer that was a sweet corn something and with a special dressing it was super delicious but my tuna sandwich was not really the thing I expected. I prefer the subway tuna sandwich:)) LOL.But I love the green salad and its tea and cakes and deserts pretty much.Staff are friendly and polite and the sitting area is really good too and you can enjoy walking through the bookstore next door after you had food:)

Went to lunch here with my mother today. Everything was delicious and correct temperatures. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lovely outdoor seatung appropriately spaced with umbrellas and planters. Photo 1: Mothers turkey pesto panini and iced tea; photo 2: my (vegan) farro plate; photo 3: my strawberry italian soda and caffe latte with almond milk. I loved my selections--think I found a favorite place!

I love cafe Borrone. Their food and coffee is always good and my favorite is their frosted mocha.. it is heaven, ice cream with coffee in the same glass. Just look at the picture of my lasagna, it tastes as good as it looks. I have NEVER in my life requested a refund for food, and this is no exception. But hours later after leaving the restaurant and looking at my picture again, I wish I had. I regret spending the $16 on this horrible excuse for microwave diarrhea sitting in a vat of oil. Absolutely disgusting. My standards for food are pretty low, I will eat just about anything, but I could not finish this.Please take this off your menu. I beg of you.

We wanted to try this place because we always pass by it and it seemed packed most times. Due to the current situation, we ordered take out for a quiche, savory waffles, muffin, and two lattes. The total came out to be ~$40, which is shown in the second picture. That should not be a $40 ticket. The place was overpriced for the lack of quality and measly serving portions.Moreover, they excluded the muffin from our order. We had to call to inform them and they didnt even offer a replacement. What really pushed me over the edge was the fact that my coffee cup couldnt close properly because they messed up the rim from the cheap materials, resulting in spilled coffee and an unpleasant ride back home.I wouldve been much easier on them if it were a more affordable place to get brunch, but this is just a rip off. I had high hopes from the high rating, but cannot recommend the place.

Cafe Borrone is the best brunch place I have ever been to. The hot chocolate with whipped cream honestly changed my life. I have visited this place multiple times with my friends and family over the years. The food here is great location for breakfast or brunch. We visited again today (03/04). It was very windy and raining. I had a baby and was seated in the outside seating area. One member of the staff - Habib - came over multiple times to make us comfortable with a heater and later found us seating inside. Really appreciate the thoughtfulness.

Food was good, very expensive for what you got, service not exactly great. You get a number to take to your table and assume youre honing be served but you need to go up and get all the refreshments all the desserts so if you have three hands you might be able to carry think your table in one trip. I sat through the entire meal waiting for my drinks to be served and then was told oh you shouldve picked it up at the counter. Rather than getting me a fresh drink, they just handed me the one that was sitting on the counter for 20 minutes. I was never told I had to pick up my refreshments I was told to take my number and sit at the table. If the prices were more reasonable and the service met my expectation, this restaurant probably deserves a higher rating.

Delicious food and coffee, and friendly service. Kudos to the staff for managing such a high volume of customers on a Saturday morning with finesse. Even though there was a long line and they were very busy, everyone was detail oriented and food arrived pretty fast–without any sacrificing of quality. The breakfast burrito, strawberry waffle, and fresh squeezed orange juice were scrumptious! And nice ambiance in the corner next to the bookstore :) Will definitely be back. Do note that they do not take Apple Pay/digital payments.

Nice environment and waitresses. Disappointed in the #5 egg breakfast. Egg were scrambled but under cooked. When I asked for salsa I was charged $3.25 for a very small serving. Even the cashier was apologetic /agreed that it was a bit much I was charged. Coffee was meh. On the Good side my families pancakes and French toast was good and tasty. $70 for breakfast..I realize prices have gone up and Im one to support small business but left feeling wed been had. Might give it another try..well see.

They seems to have a good selection of healthy foods and is a nice spot in a good location with parking to have brunch.Im giving it two stars because out of a party of 8, 2 people never received their food. We spoke to the waiters multiple times and were told every time that it is very busy and the food will come any minute. After 90 minutes, when everyone else had finished eating we checked with the counter and they could no longer find a trace of the order. Mistakes do happen, but the staff was given multiple opportunities to correct this over the course of well over 1 hour, and opted not to do anything, hence the 2 star review.

For a regular Im sure this place is a solid staple, but as a wanderer I found it a challenge.Lets start with the good. Clean, open air patio, helpful staff, and a genuine feel.Now the challenge. As someone who knew very little about this place I felt lost. I tried to grab a seat on the patio and order but was told I needed to go inside and order. When I approached the counter the board displaying todays specials but no mention of a menu. I ordered a #2 scramble (eggs, potatoes, and onions) which had a decent flavor profile but was under seasoned. The portion size would have fed a petit appetite but left me still hungry. Would definitely recommend if your hungry to order a side with your scramble.

The Gouda sandwich is my favorite, and it and many of Borrone’s classic menu items are back (my friend was enthusiastic about the return of the minestrone soup.) I also love the Cafe Orgeat, though I would order without the almond slices next time. ☕️I tried a blueberry biscuit, which I saved for later, and it was delicious, crumbly, and generously sized. I always enjoy Borrones for the food and the outdoor seating by the fountain.

Cute place for a casual brunch! I came here for lunch on a Wednesday. The line seemed long (out the door) but moved very quickly! You wait in line to order, then you can go sit wherever you like, and they bring the food to your table. I love the outside seating area. Very open and spacious.I got the smoked salmon bagel and a vanilla latte. The salmon bagel tasted good, but honestly I didnt think it was worth $22 due to the portion size. The latte was delicious! I was just the right amount of sweet for me and was perfect for the warm weather. Overall, I would come back to try their scrambled eggs and French toast/waffles, which seem to be really popular!

I used to come here years ago, and its still one of my favorite spots in Menlo Park (and even on the whole peninsula) to get coffee and a bite to eat and site outside and meet friends or read. The food, while not gourmet, is all very good, and the frosted mochas are still to die for. However, as others have said, it can be popular, and if you dont like waiting, its best to come at odd hours. Im also disappointed they close so early. This place used to be open until 10:00pm, and even had live music on the weekends. Shame. But, Id still highly recommend Cafe Borrone to anyone whos yet to give them a try!

Very disappointed …. Many times they just run out of items on the menu … you would think after all the years they could do much better planning … this has occurred many times over the years. While food is tasty you never know if they are going to have available. Separately, will share the worst coffee and latte’s around (we always skip and sometimes just bring our own). Further, it 2022 and Apple Pay and other systems exist that move lines along of which they have mostly because of the highly inefficient ordering/payment mechanism. Lastly, maybe due to low unemployment you can general get “lip service” from the kids they trust to manage to their business.

The avocado taco changed my whole world, so delicious.Only downside is that it is super small, we knew that going in but they only have outdoor seating so if you are sensitive to sun like my mom is, be aware there may not be much shade. Also they have a couple of individual tables but mostly what they have is a community table, which was fine. And you are eating on a literal alley where fishing trucks and all kinds of stuff pull through several times. Public restrooms are nearby.

The key to visiting Cafe Borrone is going as early as you can. They open at 6 am every day, and it doesnt get crowded until around 8. Consistently delivers tasty food! Great dinners in addition to their well known brunch fare. My only gripe is the salad ingredient combos are a little odd and unappealing so I never get salad.

Worst brunch experience ever. Came here for waffle and was told they stopped serving breakfast at noon. The policy is not listed online or anywhere. Super disappointed, I ended up getting the club sandwich, which was no where near good. Not even as good as sandwiches at my company cafeteria. Not to mention that I had to wait for over 40 minutes to get my sandwich. Will never come here again.

Good consistent food but it can be hard to get a table, especially one in the shade. They dont have highchairs so if eating with kids plan ahead. Also, if crowded it can take a bit to get your food.

Great place for a good old down to earth brunch. Plenty of out door seating. Even the indoor is pretty open air with windows open. The french toast ( for my lady, not me) is got a little crunch on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. A great sweets after my mushroom egg scramble with italian sausage.

Food across the board is great, and coffee drinks really good, although the food is pricey. The line is often too long and the seating hard to come by but still one of our favorite places to go for Saturday family breakfast, or when we want to spend a while over lunch or hang out and drink latte/beer/whatever and read a book. Love that it is next door to Kepplers book store!

Awesome spot for a casual brunch, lunch, or even just a coffee after browsing through Keplers Books next door.Perhaps a little pricey, but the food is good and the atmosphere perfect. Salmon bagel and waffles are great for brunch.

Great place for a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream. The food is generally good. Their meat lasagna definitely stands out. It will have you reach for another bite before you swallow previous one.Alas, the place tends to be overcrowded and finding a seat for more than one or two people is a challenge.

Great coffee shop, perfect for coffee chats to catch up with friends. Great atmosphere. The food is not amazing, but the frosted mocha is to die for. Highly recommend as a unique place in South Bay.

Their hot chocolate is excellent! Very large serving size served in a nice glass with great presentation. Atmosphere is very relaxed and the place is very clean. Feels very upscale.

Love the food here, and the coffee. Ive been going once every few years since 1995, and its still as good as I remember. Nice place to sit on the patio, meet friends, and visit the book store too.
