I received excellent customer service on a Sunday evening around closing time. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. The people were friendly. The service was fast. Best of all, the food tasted really good.
Great food and large portions served quickly, complimented by nice views of the bay. Personally, I eat here any time I pass through Monterey. If your looking for fancy, however, this is not the place. As a small family type diner, compassiomate servers and hearty food, this place stands out. Highly recommended for anyone interested in trying something different from the chain type eateries. Hope this helps!
There was only one server and I had a party of 15. The server was nice. However, the service was just bad for my party. The server didnt give us water after requesting several times. Eventually, we got our own glasses of water. But she did give water to all of the other parties that came after my party. She didnt take our order until we told her twice that we were ready. She was giving good service to other parties but ours. My party wasnt being rude or obnoxious. We were polite and patient. However, it appeared that she took advantage of that and tended to her other customers. Honestly, I think she ignored my party because: 1. She will get gratitudity regardless of her service 2. We are asian and not chinese. Overall, the food was ok. Nothing amazing. Lastly, when she gave us our tab, she didnt give us a breakdown of what we are being charged for. She only gave a total amount. And no fortune cookies for the kids. Never coming back.
I come in here quite frequently to get food and Im never disappointed! The service is excellent, and the food is always hot and tastes so fresh and delicious! Plus the overall ambiance and decor of the resturant makes for a very pleasant eating experience. Would reccomend!

We found a cucarach on the Plate 🤐 and we got 1/2 Price for what we eat, never never Back again
I felt like the food was more Thai than Chinese. The chicken and broccoli was covered in garlic and the General Tao Chicken was bland and the sauce didnt taste like it should. The price was VERY expensive for the quality, so we wont be back.
Ate lunch while vacationing here and had an amazing lunch. Can definitely tell the food is made from scratch. They also have authentic food on their menu that was delicious. If I come back to Monterey I will 100% come back here!
How’s the food? Don’t know. How’s the price? Dont know. I stood in the entryway for almost a full minute before the only employee visible asked if he could help me. He finally held up one finger indicating was I a party of one. I held up one finger in return didn’t deed I was. He then pointed to a table and sad set there. As I walked across the room passed him I took a look at his phone only to see that he was very engaged in playing games. As I pause next to the table he looked up from playing his game and said you sit. At which point I said no I think you’re too busy. And left .
NOT the greatest, but decent... Ordered sweet and sour chicken and 4 egg rolls came out to ALMOST $25.00... They do NOT offer combo meals...More veggies than chicken... They call it FAMILY size, but really only enough for 1 person or 2 small children... Chicken seemed like it was partially microwaved... Eggs Rolls, I THINK, came from Sams Club, I remember buying the same ones there...
We ordered take-out and this place is right down the street from my parents place. Food was ready within 10 minutes and tasted super fresh. They even gave us a free side of rice with the order. Will be ordering from here again.
This is an annual stop for the Pechalhead golf group and we have never been disappointed. The food and service are excellent. Katie and Logan are gracious and fun-loving hosts with who weve developed a wonderful rapport. The Pechalheads strongly recommend dining at the China House!
We normally order out from this restaurant. Its quite obvious, they use great ingredients and compared to other local restaurants, their food is tastier.We’ve always received great service & delicious food.
Food came quickly but wasnt very good. I ordered honey walnut chicken and there wasnt much walnuts. I then ordered Mongolian beef and it was marinated for too long that it tasted like beef jerky.
Always a great place to catch a bite, quick service. The woman is wonderful, if the baby is fussing she will hold him while we eat. Food is always good.
Ordered pickup from China house after exhausting all other opportunities for lunch. We got their orange chicken and Kung Pao chicken. The orange chicken was overly sweet and very breaddy. The kung pao chicken was mostly onions by volume. the sauce was a little bland and watery. The service looked ok but the place was empty and the state of the restaraunt didnt inspire much confidence that the food was fresh. The bar was messy and the supplies were strewn about.
Observed my server picking his nose as he was watching something on his phone(device). The picking of the nose went off while he watch whatever he was watching on his device. I reported him to the person incharge of the restaurant. As i continue seating there, a new family arrived. The server proceded to take their order without washing his hands. I brought this up to the person in charge. Her response was that he was only taking the order. As i walked out of the restaurant, i see him bring the food to the costumers. Did he wash his hands at that point?, I dont know. I for sure did not eat my food. I did get a bill for the food i did not eat.

Surprised to read the other negative ratings—no issues during our experience. Efficient and friendly staff, and the pot stickers, vegetable chow mein and egg drop soup was tasty.

Bad food bad service. The waiter is too busy to serve me. The table is dirty.The table was not wiped down and it was a bit sticky to my hands. The attitude towards Chinese guests is very bad. It was difficult for us to get the waiter to take care of us and asked her for a glass of water, but she asked loudly what water? It seems that we asked something that should not be asked. When we left at the end, he even threatened us, Be careful next time, you will be fined 500 yuan if you dont drink all the water.

2021-04-18 06:06:10Located inside very quaint, lonely mall. Dine in available. The food is good and flavorful. No combination plates, bummer. The dishes are pricey and you have to order each dish separately, which adds up. It was close to my hotel so it was convenient.

2019-05-11 02:58:04This restaurant is fantastic! I was seated fairly quickly and I had my beverage right after I was seated. The views of the Pacific Ocean were just amazing, and the waitress took my order fairly fast. I ordered the egg rolls, Sesame Beef and white rice. I only had to wait about 10 minutes if that to get my food. The egg rolls were crisp and fresh, so I enjoyed them a lot! The Sesame Beef was just fantastic, especially because I love the taste of toasted sesame. The rice was fluffy. Everything was so delicious and the environment was very relaxing and refreshing, especially with the amazing views. I will definitely be making another trip here, its well worth it!

2018-08-07 06:14:17I feel bad giving them 1 star because I didnt get a chance to try their food. However, because they have horrible service I have to give them 1 star. We went there after visiting the aquarium. They immediately gave us a table and menus, but then we waited and waited and waited and no one came to offer drinks or take our order. The owner and employees were seating at a table eating. We said we were ready and they completely ignored us. We did what we had to do, we left. I understand workers have to take lunch but it is not ok to keep your customers waiting specially when theres kids. After reading other reviewed I am glad we ended up leaving.

2018-05-17 20:17:38As a Chinese, first of all I have to say the food is not good. But the fact that really pissed me off is the hidden price. We ordered 4 dishes and it charged for 63 dollars, which is far more expensive than expected. The prices for each dish are not listed on the copy. When my mom came to the owner (a middle aged women) and asked why the price came out to be so ridiculous. The owner said that the tax and tips are already included in this price. However, they never mentioned that this price already included tips, and still let us pay the tips. If you have to go to this restaurant, be really careful when you pay! Don’t add any more tips cuz it was already included!!

The cashier Chinese lady helped me took my payment, and then went to help the cheif handled the chicken wings using her bare,unwashed hands. COVID ..FORSURE..I almost threw up..i didnt want to make a big scene and brought the food and threw up. I then opened the fried rice, it smells very bad left over rice mixed with dark chicken and pork. Horrible..this Chinese house took my money and did not take care of my food with care. Bad, germed over due food..I paid in good faith and expected quality in return. I want my Money refunded back...

We showed up for a really late dinner one night and I’m pretty sure they were closed and heading out (the door was actually locked), but the lady who owns it/runs it came over and let us in. They turned everything back on and took our order. I’ve never had that happen before. The only downfall for this place is location. I do not think a lot of people know they are located way down that road. I would have never known about it but my husband found out about it through work friends.
