I would give 0 stars. First time I was there food was pretty good and the portions were huge. But other few times I ordered there it was a disaster- last time I ordered through grubhub, order went through, was confirmed, didn’t get notified when it was time for the food to be ready so I just went to pick it up thinking there’s some error.How surprised I was when I got there and the place was closed….They still charged me!Few months after that I’m still trying to get my money back- with bank, because Rendezvous is not answering/replying.

Terrible. The restaurant cleanliness was unsatisfactory and poor. First, my sisters cup had dry spots and something on the inside of her glass. Second, I grabbed napkin and there was butter on the napkin. Third, my sister order a mimosa, there was a lipstick smudg on the glass. The store was empty and my brother in-law had to remind the server about my sisters drink. The food was subpar and wasnt special. Especially for the price. Dont bother getting the latters because its basic. My sister wanted to go to the restaurant because of the fluffy pancakes, but it tasted like cornbread. I will never go there again and I advise you all not to go.

Ehh!!! Mehh!! Very overrated in my honest opinion, but this is just how I thought of it. It has so much potential, but the food was not that great, it was edible but nothing special. I was not wowed so, maybe my expectations were too high. But they should be given the hype of this place...... Worth a try but, its very gimmicky with everything. Fun place but not a culinary experience. Our 16 year old daughter thought it was a fun and cool place to go back with her friends but she also was not wowed.

I have eaten at this restaurant for at least 8 years. Unfortunately something is going wrong with the food quality. This was a favorite of all the family and tangerine chicken is what I get every time. My meal tonight was completely different than the usual dish. The chicken was not crispy or spicy as described in the menu. It was gooey and tasteless. My husbands shrimp dish was equally bad. The scallion bread was good. The seaweed cucumber salad was also good, as expected from the past. I dont think we will return.

Absolutely outstanding. Huge vegan menu, nice and spicy if you ask for it! My friends ordered fish and beef, I ordered an amazing eggplant dish after some perfect dumplings. Everyone said they want to come back soon. Surprisingly sophisticated wine list for a Chinese restaurant. Every detail was impressive.

Ive visited del mar for years and just discovered this unique spot! As we came in we managed to get seated and helped right away, even got seats on the patio with ocean views. One of the first things I noticed was how much variety they had on the menu, definitely options for everyone and we had the most fun ordered lots of dishes and sharing between the whole table. Our server was Mauvie and she was very friendly, funny, and helpful! Overall the whole atmosphere was relaxing but lively and the service was fast. I was so worried about finding a place to take my in-laws for dinner without a reservation but what a nice surprise! Almost as surprising as how low the bill was for such amazing food and good experience.

Went on a Friday night with a reservation at 7. Workers/hosts were working extremely hard, but the restaurant was heavily understaffed.Was seated 15 minutes after reservation and didn’t even place drink order in the next thirty minutes. Ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. Management needs to do a better job managing capacity.

Large selection and decent entree size. There is an entire menu for vegetarian and another for vegan. Ambiance is nice unless your next to the kitchen. It gets crowded with very little waiting room at the entrance. Food quality was mixed. The tangerine chicken was good but not spicy at all. I would not recommend the pot stickers, Ive had better frozen ones at home. Deserts were excellent though. I could not give 4 stars because the restaurant and dishes were dirty. Glasses, plates and silverware had obvious spots and looked very worn.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in San Diego for sure! Their menu is very diverse, and there are very good options for vegetarians and vegans also. Definitely worth the visit. Plan ahead, it can get very busy, so make reservations or get the early if you can... Highly recommended!

This is such a hidden gem in Del Mar! The best Chinese in the area. The food was fresh, delicious and unique. We came here for a birthday dinner and had the best time. Mauvi was excellent! Definitely made our experience better. Would recommend!

This was one of the best meals of my life, and I didnt expect it at all. I was staying across the street from the shopping area, and didnt know anywhere. I thought I would just wander over when I got hungry, and pick whatever sounded good. It was the last place I walked by, and thought it was good as any. I wasnt feeling picky. The menu was huge, so I just asked the waitress what someone shouldnt miss there. I dont remember being hungry, but once I started, I couldnt stop ordering! Started with fried shrimp, which was the waitresss favorite, and ended up ordering several more plates. I started to feel remorseful when the thought of how much money I mustve racked up, but when the bill came, it was absolutely reasonable. I still think about that dinner from time to time. Its been 2 1/2 months since I was last there, and I cant wait until Im in Del Mar again!

I was so excited to find gluten-free Chinese food but was disappointed in the food. The rice noodles were so mushy. The portion was huge and I do appreciate that it was gluten free but the person cooking the food needs to be taught how to do it right. It was edible but I would not order it again.

Everything about this place was the absolute worst. I wish I could say AT LEAST one thing positive, but I can’t. The food was soggy, and tasted old. My server was some underaged girl, and mentioned the rats… I can’t believe this place is still open. The rice was dry and either over cooked or undercooked - idk what worst but it was the wizards option. Anyways, the service and food were horrible, I hated every second here- the only nice thing is the view but I do hope that something good comes in it’s place.

Please do not waste your money here. This is not authentic Chinese food. No real Chinese restaurant serves duck wrapped in a flour tortilla for $20.Dont let their website convince you otherwise. They are defintely not top 50 in the nation. Its an insult to authentic Chinese restaurants everywhere.

We had a very pleasant experience. We were greeted promptly by the host, Austin. He made sure we understood the ingredients in every meal we asked about...even asked the head chef a few times. He offered advice on meal choices and offered complimentary wine or beer while we waited for our take-away order. The atmosphere was relaxed and social. The food was delicious and without mistakes. We didnt even dine-in, and got great service. Wasnt too expensive for the quality service and excellent food. Even a seperate menu for GF/Vegan options, and almost no dairy in their menu. Very happy with the service and will be returning.

We have been enjoying excellent food and service at Rendezvous for almost 9 years. They are consistent and offer the highest quality and tastiest Chinese food in Southern California. The service has always been as wonderful as the food. On Sunday Andres was our waiter and gave us great suggestions in addition to taking great care of us. We drive over 50 miles from Newport Beach to Del Mar for this special treat and it is well worth it!

Service was fast. The waitresses are very attentive and have such a great attitude. My bf ordered the molcajete which he enjoyed. I ordered the shrimp wrapped in bacon stuffed with crab meat and cheese, it was also very delicious. I will be coming back here again my experience was great.

I came here wanting quality Chinese and dining service, which is why decided not to go to Panda Express. BAD CHOICE. My friend and I were greeted by what looked to be a possy of gothic freshman in high school, too busy chatting to even notice we were there. Finally, we got seated and again were served by an underprepared young girl, - sadly, I did feel bad for her because she seemed overwhelmed. Anyways, the tangerine chicken was covered in sauce and tasted absolutely inedible. We then ordered beef Mongolian - completely dry, chewy and disgusting (my dogs wouldn’t even eat it when I got home…). And then, I was gifted with the worst food poisoning in my entire life. I don’t know if something was undercooked, but seems impossible with how dry and overcooked everything tasted! Maybe everything was old or they are untrained in cleaning procedures. Either way, I would avoid at all costs.

Very disappointing lunch visit. The place was busy but not mobbed. One server and one hostess for the entire restaurant. Food was lukewarm, which I sent to be reheated. Food came back lukewarm again. As I ate my very mediocre meal a gentleman at another table sent back his meal for not being warm enough. My fifty dollars would have been better spent donated to the Humane Society.

Update - The manager phoned me today and took the time to explain how they are managing multiple third party delivery services. He also emphasized that he intended to speak with the staff to improve customer communication - it felt genuine and I very much appreciated this personal outreach to resolve our poor experience.Decent food, snotty staff and very difficult to make a reservation. If you try to order take out to avoid this ambience, know that dine in takes precedence, so they will continually bump your order to accommodate dine in patrons (even though youve already paid).

I have had delivery from Rendezvous 3 times. The food is good. The pot stickers are not very good. The vegetable Lo Mein is the BEST I have ever had. BUT, every time something is forgotten, usually the rice. When you are packing an order to go who do you not double check it? When people order Chinese food they want their rice.

Every time I dine here, I have to try something new and each time I am amazed at how well the new and different flavors blend together so well. The sesame crusted ahi was delicious. My colleague had the lettuce wraps and loved them! He even had leftovers to take home. The service is always top notch. Kevin and Alfonso truly know how to make you feel welcomed. My little brother told me that after trying this resturant that the previous Chinese food place that we loved, would seem so-so. And it was, this store is the ultimate in gourmet dining but doesnt cost that much more than regular dine in Chinese food and for what it does it is totally worth the cost, we only wish we lived closer. White meat chicken in my meal where the other place used white/brown meat and a bit of fat. Plus I get a free meal for my birthday month. 5 stars from me because hands down, I LOVE it and would recommend it to anyone looking to eat the best of meals.

First the good: Wait staff was excellent and attentive.Check-in was frustrating...6:50pm on Thursday evening. Place had 4 open tables in a line and only 1 table even seated. Asked for table, told we had to wait till 7:20 at earliest because they had a 7pm reservation. I understand covid distancing, but they had 4 outside tables with more than 6ft spacing open. Figured ok. After 10 min of waiting, a 5th table opened so I thought i would ask again. Told that they had to space the timing of kitchen and wait staff for optimal dining experience. Until manager overrode hostess and said ok. (I really cant understand why so many restuarants want to turn away business. Fyi...7pm reservation didnt arrive till 7:20)We almost left...but we stayed for dinner. We should have left! Food was a 2out5. Spare ribs was poor quality meat. Chicken lettuce wraps were super salty and just not tasty. Chicken chow mean was just ok.

I found out about this wonderful restaurant from the front desk at the Del Mar Inn down the street. My boyfriend and I decided to check it out for lunch. They have an extensive selection of wine displayed beautifully as you walk in. The decor is crisp and classy with rich dark woods accented with sage colored walls. Anthony greeted us with a friendly smile and walked us to our table. He brought us some of their specially filtered water and we were told about the special selection of vegetarian dishes and the Rendezvous House special menu items. We shared some vegetable spring rolls to start. Then I chose the Buddhas Feast with brown rice served with a light salad as well. I ate it all gone - I almost licked the plate ;-) I would definitely recommend Rendezvous to friends and family. It is the most top notch Chinese Food establishment I have ever had the pleasure of dining in.

I have wanted to try this restaurant for a long time and we decided to go prior to going to a show in La Jolla. While the service was decent, the food advertised as Asian Fusion was simply average Chinese Food.For the appetizer we got the pork that was recommended and while it was cooked well it was bland. We told the waiter that we wanted a spicy seafood dish and ordered based on his recommendation. The seafood in the dish was a little over cooked and the dish was bland with no spicy element.For what they charge I wound have expected something much better.

Favorite menu items are imperial shrimp, pungent chicken, chicken lo mein, and the potstickers to start with. A little pricey but always delicious and great location. Not a huge dining area but they do have outside seating available also. Parking is free for 2 hours.

I am sad to say that my dinner here was extremely disappointing. Despite its pretensions to be some sort of cutting edge Chinese fusion, the dishes here are entirely run-of-the-mill American-Chinese fare. While the portion sizes were adequate, the quality of the food was regrettably underwhelming. The Lomain was bland, the Governor chicken was without character, the eggplant was too salty, and the Kung Pao fish lacked any memorable qualities.I encourage the restaurant to do better. It can do better.

I normally dont write reviews unless the place is horrid or amazing; in this case it was amazing. I planned a proposal and the manager, Kevin, did everything to accommodate us. Food is beyond delicious, and have a variety to choose from (including wine). Parking is literally right next to the restaurant, and at a great location. I am glad I got engaged at this location!

If you are looking for excellent Chinese food this is a great restaurant to try. You wont be disappointed. Great vegetarian options. In fact, they have a vegetarian menu for those that are interested. Management and staff are friendly, helpful and eager to accommodate. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I have been eating here since 2002, and I am very comfortable making this recommendation.

Del Mar Rendezvous is a great restaurant! Our family eats gluten free and Del Mar Rendezvous has gluten-free items and gluten-free soy sauce (Tamari). The food is excellent, the dining atmosphere great and you cant beat the Del Mar Plaza. Overall, its a great place to enjoy dinner. I highly recommend it.

This was the WORST food Ive nearly ever had. We bought 4 different dishes: lettuce wraps were greasy, potstickers were soggy, the chicken dish my husband got was so salty (possibly MSG) that it was inedible, and my sesame crusted ahi salad came with wasabi dressing, which apparently means something hotter than wasabi... yeah, NOT a dressing. Bed of mixed lettuce + sesame crusted ahi + Wasabi concentrate = not a salad... unless its Rendezvous. No idea why people think this place is good, cause it is not.

Skip the usual Chinese restaurants and come to Rendezvous in beautiful Del Mar. Patio dining during sunset with a delicious glass of wine and wonton soup makes for the perfect date night or bestie. My favorite entree is the Kung Pao Filet Mignon. Service is friendly, not stuffy. Parking is free for 2 hours in the parking garage.

Ate lunch 12 noon there 3/28/16. Service was very slow even though there was only one other person there. The draft beer, though very expensive, was good, but the spring rolls were very small and very greasy; (the worst Ive ever eaten) the wonton soup bowl was only half full of watery, tasteless brown soup with a few sausage balls and some pasta that had no resemblance to won tons. The two of us paid sixty dollars for a lousy lunch. Look for another Chinese restaurant.

We are constantly amazed at how good the food is here. I guess this is upscale Chinese so instead of Kung Pao beef, they serve Kung Pao filet mignon. And they have a huge wine list. Ordinarily, I would avoid a place like this, but the food is really tasty and the prices are reasonable for what you get.

Hmm.. Where do I start?! I chose this place for dinner tonight as my husbands team at work loves this place for team lunches. The only thing I liked here was the fortune cookie. Crispy Spring rolls was the appetizer of choice. It was loaded with cabbage and didnt taste good. I really didnt want to experiment with my entrée after this so.., Kung pow chicken. How can a Chinese restaurant not get Kung pow chicken right? This place managed to do that with more than generous amount of oil. I hope the chef knows when the news says cost of a barrel of oil is going down, they dont mean cooking oil. Basically I just paid $8 to eat cabbage and $18 to eat (drink) oil. My dinner was a disaster. Theres still a layer of oil on my tongue that Im trying to get rid of. My husband ordered pungent chicken which was the savings grace.

And yes, it was during their advertised time frame, that the special is available. I should not have to make sure that they honor their own special.

I like Rendezvous.....I really do. Why only 3 stars? Primarily price. I can get most of these dishes in nearly every other neighborhood in San Diego for much less. I mean, yes, I would have to drive to Convoy to save $5-$10 per entree, but when youre meeting up with a group of people, these costs add up. Its just not worth it.I mean, when you charge $15 for a bowl of wonton noodle soup, $19 for shrimp lo mein or pad thai, $18 for beef with broccoli, or $21 for walnut shrimp, it puts a dent in your wallet.So, sorry Rendezvous, you food is good, but to pricey for someone that is used to eating good chinese food for much much less.

The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, creating a perfect space to enjoy a leisurely meal or an invigorating brunch.The decoration is elegant and contemporary, creating a harmonious balance between the modern and the traditional. The use of colors and design elements complements the dining experience. Speaking of flavors, the modern Chinese cuisine at Del Mar Rendezvous is certainly a highlight. Dishes like Sweet and Sour Kung Pao Chicken and Sweet and Sour Shrimp Noodles offer an explosion of bold and balanced flavors that delight the senses.Although overall I had a positive experience, it is worth mentioning that some dishes could have been a bit better in terms of execution and presentation. However, this small detail does not overshadow the overall pleasure that the restaurant offers.In short, Del Mar Rendezvous/Morning Muse is a lovely place to sample modern Chinese cuisine in a friendly atmosphere.
