First time here last week to celebrate my birthday. Took a while for them to get us seated and when we ordered took them way long to bring us our drinks...Then again they only had one server for the whole section. Over the meal and drinks was good. Place was nice and comfortable. They did bring me a birthday sundae and I know its free and all but it was like one spoon.... Honestly I can pay for it myself and getter a better looking desert. But still grateful that they offered and had their group of servers come sing to me, I like that a lot!...Not much restaurants do that anymore. Good childhood memories. I would recommend this place for a birthday gathering or just hanging out with family or friends....Your birthday singing earned you the recommendation.
Wait staff was excellent.. This was the only redeeming quality of our experience. We ordered the nachos..they came out super quick, unfortunately they were drenched in cheese liquid not even a sauce you pick one up an need a boat load of napkins. They would be better to have deconstructed nachos to dip In. I ordered French onion soup the base broth and onion had great flavor, however the bread was so hard even a steak knife could not cut it. Then I ordered the pecan crusted fish sandwich. Fish was cooked perfectly, however there was so much sauce I thought the fish was swimming in it. My daughter got the kids pasta with chicken. The server suggested to change out the Mac noodles for Angel hair pasta. Great choice my daughter loved it. They serve an ice cream dessert with dinner however it never came so we left. The server offered as we were walking out to get it to go. Not worth it... I really think the kitchen needs to get it together..or this restaurant will be closing
Quickly seated which is great, but quality of the food is very bad based on the fact that the person who made the food, couldn’t make it with the ingredients that were on the menu. Ordered chicken lettuce wraps. The only thing that appeared on the order was the chicken and the lettuce, everything else was not from the ingredients menu. You order one thing, but you’re definitely getting something else. Our server was great.
Nice restaurant with a variety of food. The service was great. The only complaint is they have changed the batter on their chicken tenders. It used to be more crispy and unique. Now it is like chicken I can get anywhere. Change this back and its 5 stars.
The food was good drinks were kind of weak. Prices are reasonable during happy hour, but they should keep the happy hours all night! It doesnt make sense that their happy hour ends at 7pm. That explains why there were hardly any people there on a Friday night.
This is the best place! My family was in town and we originally went to Buffalo wild wings. It was clear they didnt want our business. No one at the front to help you and we had to flag down someone to seat us which after no one came to take our order or to even bring menu or water.As soon as we walked into Elephant Bar we were geeted by a friendly smile and lead to our table, promptly a nice waitress gave us menus, took our drink order and brought them out immediately. We then gave our food order she took quickly and our food came piping hot so fast. Several employees came around to ensure we had all needs attended to. In the end our bill was promptly given to us which was very modest compared to other places and reciept quick too. I hate waiting for stuff especially if it seems employees are not paying attention. The employees at Elephant Bar are top notch and the manager did a superb job running this business. I should know my family owned restaurants.
My girlfriend and I went in for dinner one Saturday night and ran it to a small situation when ordering, the manager went above and beyond to make not only the situation right, but the rest of the night very enjoyable for her and I. Elephant Bar has been one of our favorite restaurants since first dining at the Emeryville location. This location has improved tremendously with quality staff, Cooks and management. We will be back! Thank you once again staff of Elephant Bar and restaurant Southland. 😁
Everything was good and weve eaten here 3 times in 4 weeks now that we discovered it. The two biggest favorites are the Pistachio crusted salmon salad- outstanding- and the Asian lettuce cup (assemble yourself) appetizer. Its is a meal in itself. The other items we tried on prior visits were good to great, too. We chose it because it was open relatively late (for Hayward ) and is quite comfy for unwinding.
Dont go here much but was craving chicken lettuce wraps( my favorite) but instead decided on the Thai High spicy chicken salad.. Server kinda messed up the order but I was able to work with what I got. Plus the leftover chicken heats up great to make another salad at home the next day.
Out of 6 of us that ate here 3 people did not enjoy their food. Our host seemed slightly challenged. When we made our reservation the guy was very confused about how many of us were eating. Our server, Gilberto, tried his best, but our food came with no silverware. He came back with water, lemons etc and still no silverware. Finally got it right after a while. Granted, it was busy. Thursday during lunch. I ordered the blackened Mahi which was good. Everybody else didnt like their food too much. But the old fashioned I ordered was great, the classic version and it was great!

Elephant Bar isnt what it use to be, the food is sub-bar, atmosphere is dated, and service is extremely quick and food is disgusting. I ordered sushi and the broccoli beef with teriyaki sauce and it was horrible. The food seemed as if it were pre-cooked and reheated and served because it was extremely hot like it came out a microwave. With prices so high I would expect a better dining experience but it was wasted. I can see why it was so slow during the dinner hour because people arent going to waste money on their garbage food.
As a couple every experience that we have ever had at the elephant bar relative to food has always been a positive one. We decided to come by here for our anniversary as one of the restaurants we both enjoyed and knew that it would be a good choice to celebrate our special day on. As before the food was not a disappointment having ordered see pistachio-crusted arugula salmon salad and the Mongolian beef dishes. the one comment I would make on the Mongolian beef which comes over rice is that if you are accustomed to the traditional Jasmine sticky rice the white rice that is served with the dish is not that kind of rice. it is much more of a dry possibly calrose style rice and not the traditional Asian style rice that you may have at home with your family and I would recommend the brown rice which will have a consistency that shouldnt surprise those who are familiar with brown rice. The waiter was super friendly and helpful when we challenged what we expected the white rice to be and gave us several variations trying to get it right. Good customer service. The Mongolian beef use nice thick cuts of beef that seemed to be of higher quality then you may get from your typical Chinese fast food takeout restaurant. The pistachio crusted salmon was good as always, but in all transparency the Mandarin oranges that came with the arugula salad were still a bit frozen and surprised my wife when she bit into one as she was not expecting it to be so chilled. We followed up the dinner with a favorite of mine, which was the mocha mud pie which is an ice cream pie with Oreo crust topped with whipped cream and it did not fail to satisfy. I find it unfortunate that the Elephant Bar as a chain is becoming a bit of a scarcity. As long as one can be found I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.
I have eaten at this restaurant on and off many times. The menu used to be very extensive and a few international inspired good dishes. Then, it went bankrupt and was reorganized. Much smaller menu now . I can see the prices went up too. Like my favorite Lamb shank used to be less than $15 now is $22 . (Which I have always said thats the best deal in town. The price is actually more realistic now.) Hope they will make it. The food seems to be still OK.
Its not that I disliked it. We were having a birthday party. The waiter passed items in front of the guest, it took over an hour to get our foodI asked for a box the box wasnt staying close so the manager put duck tape on rhe box. The fries were oddly warm. The serve was not good. The food wasnt something youll come back for.
Great looking place, as they all are but how they have fallen. The food, barely edible, it had obviously been microwaved. I don’t think there is a single thing that is prepared on site.The mixed drinks are also all from a can, no real bar tender skill there either.Enjoy!
I used to love E-bar. Recently, they changed their food/cooks and it took a downgrade. The chicken strips taste like plastic/cartilage and many other items taste different. I used to religiously love eating the chicken strips but I’m sad it’s not the same.
I sat in the bar area which was basically empty at the time (only one other table was occupied). The bar area was dirty, and when I sat down I had to ask the bartender to clean the table. The service was slow becuase the bartender and servers were on the other side of the bar joking around and gossiping. I had to flag them down 3 times to ask for a glass of water. The food was not very hot and unappetizing (salad and soup). Overall a real disappointment in food and service.
Food is good but the service is questionable, especially if you have a larger group. Though they include the 18% tip automatically, the place lacks the quality of service to warrant that tip. Also, there are a lot of cars break-ins in their parking lot and the security patrol may be operating hand in hand with these crooks. Even the cars parked in front of the establishment were broken into (smashed windows)
This place is mediocre. The food is average nothing out of the ordinary. It’s in a mall lot and is very chain like. The beer selection was average. The happy hour specials are only at the bar so beware where you sit! Decent specials, nothing too exciting. A great middle ground between Sunnyvale and Berkeley.
This was my first time at this particular location. Had met a friend there for dinner and drinks, thinking it would be quieter, and it was! Not too many people, so the service should have been better and faster. It was neither.There just seemed to be a lack of interest. No one really cared to get our orders correct. Or check back. I mean you can only ask for so much, but I guess it explains the low customer turnout

The food was bland. The soup and salad were brought out at the same time as the main course. I requested no tomatoes in my burger. I found a big slice in the bottom. Be careful if you have any food allergies the cook doesnt look at special notes
One of my worst experience of any restaurant Ive gone if not the worst. Plus got charged for items I did not order, told it would get fixed back, got the bill back with the same charges. From the time I was ready for the bill to the time I ended up paying it, took almost 45 minutes. Ended up paying the whole bill without the corrections just so I could get out of there. I dont think the waiter knew what he was doing.
I have an ulcer. I asked our server if their Hong Kong salmon soup was spicy. She said no. It was spicy. Messed me up for a few days. That said, she was nice and the food was good.
First all I wanna say how the Elephant bar was soo different back then and mind you this was the first time in years since I’ve been back...Our first waitress asked if we wanted any drinks and we said yes we would like waters and my son was indecisive about what he wanted and she was a little upset about it then just walked away without asking if we wanted any other drinks. Then I spoke to the manager to let him know that we wanted another waitress and he said why? (Like does it matter) this place lacks Customer Service hands down! The bill was ridiculous $430... Grutuity was like $60 and no customer service still after there getting paid for it anyway cause it’s automatic out the bill!! On top of that everyone stomach was turning not sure if they put something in our food cause it just seemed shady! All in all I will never go back to this place due to the management and host lack of apologies none what so ever on how rude the waitres was and in how long it took to get drinks and our food!! This place sucks they need to hire new peaople all around!
The waitress Ally was super nice! The atmosphere was good. It was not too busy went for lunch at 11:15amFood was good. The interior could use an update it is worn and dated! Overall its a good place to eat.
This is an ok place. It has a nice ambiance with a decent atmosphere but the food is way overpriced for its quality. Some items on the menu are terrible. Great cocktails, especially the Long island . I seemed to enjoy drinking here and watching the game versus dinning
Food use to be great but last time i was there was horrible!!! Vegetables were bad, potato was cold and my chiken was tasless. Not to mention that i order a piña colada and they serve it in a very small glass, plain, no cherry no woop cream for almost 10 bucks!!!! I wont go back there, for sure!!!! I wont be fair with out mentioning that my waitress was phenomenal.
Awful service, really slow service and forgetfulness. The food wasnt great and very expensive. The cilantro salmon was cold and french fries were horrible. The waiter had a strong smell like he didnt wash his clothes for a very long time.
Birthday celebration with my Wife and Kids. We enjoyed a nice cold beer with apetizers (Spicy Artichoke dip, Tempura Salmon rolls) that were served right away and also very tasty. Main dishes were all served hot and at the same time. Finished off with desert, a giant cookie ice cream sandwhich. Service was quick, polite. I enjoyed the food, drinks, company and ambiance of the Elephant Bar Restaurant.
I went to this place last night. It tooks forever to get our food. We had to wait 1 hour for our foods and the our dessert was cold. I askes the service to give us another one but they came back to the kitchen and reheat our dessert on the microwave. We left this place with and still get upset. My advice for them is need a better service and most of their workers are just talking. And 1 more things, it takes them forever to give us the check and we asked them for it but we had to wait for a long time.
I normally love this place, but the last trip there. Food was tough and dry. First time I had tried their Mongolian beef. Doubt I would get it again. I will stick with the chicken or shrimp as my usual.
Food wasnt good and they dont have many option at all on the menu especially if you dont eat pork or beef. Will never eat there again. Employees very nice and helpful. I see why it wasnt busy and packed on a Saturday (weekend).

Service was good hence the one star. We started with a mammoth appetizer but decided it there as well. The food was horrible. The beer battered onions taste like oil dipped watery onions, the nachos were so salty I can barely get them down. The ribeye sliders actually tasted like cheap meat with a super bland oil dip vs aus ju! Heading to Jack In The Box after this! Their food is at least better than this

How many duct taped booth seats before you get new ones 😵? Brunch runs 10-3 on wkends yet server didnt apologize for not offering a menu, didnt offer a drink menu and waited until food came to ask what we wanted. All backwards...hello?
The server and ambiance were great. The food was not. Steak was well done but flavorless, same with the garlic potatoes - no garlic flavor.
Welp... They overcooked my steak. I asked for Medium Rare and I got Medium-Well done. But the waiter was very cheerful so I didnt mind.Also Damn that steak was small...Waiting times were too long but thats America for you.

Place looks kind of dirty and its been twice i visit this restaurant with my friends and it took forever to bring our food and waiter forgot to place order some our food so we waited like 1hr and half for our food to get serve. I feel kind of disappointed about their customer service!

I love elephant bar (for reasons I cant fully explain). This is one of the last few locations left. I sit around the bar with my wife, have a couple drinks, eat a few random sides, and a good time is had by all.
6usd on starters on happy hours aint bad. And the food is pretty good. Even though its a little pricey, they make sure the portion is enough to fill you up

My martini glass was half full...tasted live graprfuit concentrate sent it out bartender said its made from a recipe but she can make it the old way..my sobi was coated in some ultra sweet bbq siy sauce added shrimp found it to be subpar veggues not cooked i was starving when I came in what a waste if my gard earned money im headed to panera bread. ..dont waste ur time its not the same
Excellent burger and the wait staff were friendly and fast. Especially like that they provided our group of nine with eight separate checks.

My food was okay but my friend said her meal wasnt seasoned well. Sad...Elephant Bar was a favorite now their inconsistent preparation of meals makes them a least likely place to visit.😐
I am not a fan of there food, its chain food like the kind they heat up on the microwave before they bring to the table, brown rice or white rice, they have labeled bags in the kitchen, I rather have Panda Express rice, at least they have a big rice pot to fake it

2018-01-15 09:33:17The Elephant Bars in the South Bay all decided to go belly up and shut down so I was glad to find this location. Service felt too casual and we had to return one of our dishes (pot roast) because the meat was too dry and vegetables were overcooked. The jambalaya to me was pretty so-so but the marsala chicken was good (all in the sauce). Overall just okay, but Im glad there are still locations open. Elephant bar has some of the better decor compared to others for a chain restaurant.

2019-05-17 15:24:54Our favorite place to stop by for lunch between customer meetings. Food is always good, service can be a bit slow, and water was leaking from the roof onto our table so we had to move to a new table. Would return next time in in the area. My colleague killed the Mud Pie.

2019-01-23 03:15:54I ordered a steak medium. I think they accidentally microwaved it too long. It didnt look like a steak at all. It was like cutting cardboard. No salt. No sauce. Just a nasty lump of garbage.

2019-02-04 02:50:47Our server Jennifer was great! The light chicken lettuce wraps were good. The chicken tacos were decent. My friends spinach dip was cold and her potatoes skins were burnt. Ive been to this location a few times and its never very busy.

2017-07-04 09:01:10Pretty good. But one of the waitresses had us waiting at least 40 minutes before even greeting us, had horrible service. Made us wait 20-30 min in between greeting us, asking for our drinks and taking our order. She was terrible. I had to ask the bartender for our drinks. THEN, had the audacity to compliment my boyfriend and I to milk her tips. We definitely didnt fall for it. 4 stars omly because of the food. (He got ribs and I got the amazing jambalaya)

The two dinner dishes we ordered to go (first timer here) were pretty good - shrimp/chicken jambalaya (pretty good) and Mongolian beef (a bit on the salty side) came with nice portion plus brown rice. The price is reasonable.Unfortunately, usually you would expect for take out, BUT they didnt give us the utensils, and we didnt realize and couldnt munch after we drove off. 😩😩😩 But the manager was very courteous and friendly.
