Indoor and outdoor seating. You order your food at the front counter/register. They will bring your food to you when it’s ready. Chips and salsa was really good! They do not go around asking if you need refills or another beer so I believe you have to reorder again since it’s all paid for in advance. Overall, the food is good and its definitely worth checking out!

Wow! Talk about amazing food! They struggle with having enough staff to offer quality service but they are super friendly and have a great outdoor space to enjoy your amazing breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is unique and very delicious!

I got the breakfast burrito.The salsa had no spice.The burrito was pretty good. Can’t say it was the best breakfast burrito ever. It lacked a certain crunch that I like in a breakfast burrito.I wish they had two hot sauces: mild and spicy.Also I wish there was some kind of vegetable component to it. The potatoes in the burrito could be crispier.

Loved the indoor and outdoor setting and the caption boards! Tried the summer veggie vegan bowl. It was simply amazing! The spices were mild and absolutely scrumptious. Mushrooms and sweet potato mash were the standouts. Must try restaurant in that area.

This place is delicious and the service is awesome. We left with a Togo box and never do I eat that when I get home but could not wait to finish it off 5 hours of driving home later. The waitress at the counter brought my service dog a treat and water. We did not ask she just did it with our permission of course. Awesome place and people.

I had the crispy fish taco. I was expecting a crunchy taco shell but got crispy breaded fish. I wish I could get it without the crunchy breaded exterior. I didn’t know it came with guacamole. I would skip on the guacamole. The guacamole pieces are too big. All the vegetables in the taco were delicious. Next time, I’d ordering a veggie taco.

Best Chimichanga I have ever had! Very generous menu offerings. Generous portions (I dont usually need a go box, but did for my chimi). Everyone in our party was very happy with their food. Well be going back, for sure!

Delicious! The quality of the salsa and tradicional burrito were soooooo good! We just stopped here while we were driving and were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and helped us decide what to get. The prices were a little high but they give you a lot of food and that seems to be common around here.

Food was proportional but the cleanliness of the place needs some serious care. When you go to the counter to order behind the register is a clear view of the dishwashing sink next to the kitchen. It was a rather gross thing to see. Not to mention, I’m pretty sure wearing open toed shoes is a health code violation. The woman running the register and running food in and out of the kitchen was wearing regular clothes and sandals. Bathrooms were not cared for and no toilet paper. I informed the woman in the coffee shop there was no toilet paper and she said “there is some in there” and ignored me. I’m pretty sure I know if there’s toilet paper since I was just in there. 🤔 Not sure why we continued with our order, probably because we were hungry and eager to get home, but the food was decent. Surf and turf burrito was 89% salad with a side of 4 chips and a salsa. $30 for two “okay” fast Mexican dishes seems pricey.

This is literally a gem in a haystack. Its located right before where pioneer trail branches off hwy 50 when going towards South lake Tahoe. This is a contemporary mexican place and the offerings are too good and I literally got blown away.To begin with, this place is very vegan friendly. There is an entire page devoted for vegan dishes and they are no slouches to the regular cheesy ones. I had the enchiladas with cashew cheese and it was the best enchilada ever. They have a yucca fries and its not to be missed. Steaming hot, very crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside, the best wedge cut yucca fries I ever had.This place is connected to a coffee shop and you are open to sit anywhere you like. Thus if you have kids or someone in the group who just wants coffee while you eat, no problem.And finally, the portion sizes are really big and with an appetizer, one entree would do for two adults.

Sharing this NOT to spread more negative out in the world specially to restaurants, BUT I hope whoever owns or is in charge of the quality of the food takes some sort of action to add some flavor to it.NEVER have I or entire family that I came with to this restaurant came across getting charged for “chips and salsa $4+”. It’s always been complimentary. Next thing, the rice and the beans. Rice felt and tasted like it might have been “warmed up” the entire day, it was dry almost as if it wasn’t cooked all the way. One of the two. No flavor, just like the black and red beans. The steak or “carne asada”, it was poorly cut and could tell the grill they cooked it on doesn’t get cleaned very often. The kids burger was a major fail, the meat was too over cooked. The fajita bowl was mostly a mushroom bowl. We weren’t even there for more than 30mins, from the moment we ordered to the moment we picked up our plates and throw almost all of the food away. We had to get our kids food somewhere else. More than a disappointment it was a terrible idea and experience to have spend $240+ at this “Mexican Bistro”.

This was the worst experience at a restaurant i think I have ever had. They gave us to go boxes when we were dining in with plastic utensils to eat with. The margaritas were like lemonade and when I wanted to replace them for tequila the waiter told me they don’t have any tequila and that the margs were premixed. I don’t know how a Mexican restaurant doesn’t have tequila in house and if that’s the case, what was is the margaritas. Do not go here.

On a family Trip, we were very hungry and made a Stop here, however its was not the best idea, rice on plate uncooked, dry and hard .. rice in bowl fully cooked ???? So what happened ?? Same with black beans !! Ordered Carne Asda plate, meat was raw was barely turned over enough to seal outter layer, had it returned and cooked .... felt very disappointed and was left hungry !guacamole and chips were good —!!!

I got a traditional burrito with carne asada. It was delicious, and the staff was super friendly. I had my doubts when I saw the menu, as it didnt look super authentic. They made up for it once I took a bite of my burrito. This will definitely be a new spot for me after hikes in the area.

Last ditch effort to find a decent lunch before heading westbound up hwy 50. Turned out to be destiny. Just freakin’ superb. Great outdoor seating vibe but more importantly, the food was amazing. Can’t wait to go back and try other menu items but I can tell you for certain that the surf and turf taco (that’s shrimp and brisket with a zesty carrot/cabbage slaw) is utterly delightful. Obviously contemporary but the flare and flavor of authentic Mexican cuisine appears in each bite with that expected dynamic layering of flavor that leaves you with notes of fresh citrus, bright herbs, mild smoke, gentle char and just the most subtle pucker of tang. Go. Now. If they’re closed I’d honestly just wait.

First we ordered Ahi tacos, but got fish tacos. Oh well maybe a bad phone connection. Then when we went to pay prices were 50% more then latest prices on their website, $8 per taco!. But the worst thing, they were heavily, heavily, breaded. Gobs of deep fried batter with small morsels of fish. Disgusting. Not going here again, which is sad, because their food used to be great.

I want to love this place. They have excellent fried calamari. They’re just severely understaffed. Our hot food was delivered to us without forks or napkins or napkins—sitting outside in Tahoe gets the food cold fast. We used our hands- whatever. They told us they’re working on the dish ware while we eat our food with our hands.

Top notch and worth a stop. I had the BBQ quesadilla, wifey had the Chile Relleno, and our 12 y/o got the Ahi Salad. All three dishes came out fast, perfectly done and with quality ingredients. This was our first time here but it will be a regular stop from now on. The staff was great, too. Owners were on site on a Sunday afternoon, and you could tell by the interaction between the employees and them that it’s a good work culture.

The meat was bad/rancid in my husbands meal. (After he was given something he didn’t order but the girl talked him into eating it anyway) We let the cashiers know as our bill was already prepaid but no one seemed to care.None of us could finish our food as it was tasteless and not good.They decided to mop the floors and clean around us while we were trying to eat so that made us even more uncomfortable. We found this quite rude as they were busy saying 2 big tables came in before us so our food would take a while. Didnt even get a chance to eat at this place, we walked in and the staff was very unwelcoming. They seemed more intrigued by the conversation they were having, rather than greeting their guests as they come in or even offer them a place to sit down to eat. When we asked if it was open seating they seemed bothered to be interrupted so we continued to sit down to browse the menu. When we looked around to order, or even for a staff to offer water or take our order they were no where to be found. We sat for another 10mins and left completely and utterly disappointed with the customer service. So we got up went to The Getaway Cafe which is right across the street! Always have great food and great service.

First time and last time here. I was hoping for authenticity. We had to ask for our chips and salsas instead of giving it to us as we wait. Not sure how my Chile relleno had a BBQ like smokey flavor. But it had a CHAR like sabor to it. Not toasty like when we roast them for us who know how to cook. Beans were dry, rice was microwavedDoesnt taste like real Mexican rice. My little boy wanted a burger. We skipped the BBQ sauce it came with and asked for it to be well done. It was burned. Not well done still kind of pink in the middle. As for the salsas it was made from mostly canned tomatoe sauce. Im disappointed. It has great reviews only reason we came to dine in since we are from out of town. Cost about an arm and leg to eat here only to be disappointed.Hubby says it sucked. It needs flavor and missing customer service.8 yr old boy says TERRIBLE.i didnt even want to eat it since it tastes burn and had no flavor. He had MAYBE 3 bites.Our 3 yr old says she like she enjoyed their quesadilla! I took a bite myself and thought it wasnt to bad. I hope their food can be turned up a notch ...notches. I love this place!!! It is not cheap but you get what you pay for. Its a great place if you care about what you eat and want to be healthy. Very nice twist on Mexican dishes, not your regular Mexican place. They use lots of seasonal veggies, great selection of homemade salsa and generous size dishes, so I always have extras for later. It a new place, and looked like they had some hiccups with service at the beginning, but it looks like they are getting hang of it.

One of my least favorite burritos. The place and the staff are very friendly so the review is about the food; I got the Norcal Burrito with chicken. The chicken was very dry, there was hardly any crispy yuca fries in it, and there was huge chunks of tomatoes in it. This felt more like a wrap than flavorful burrito.This has been my second time coming here and it disappointed yet again.

This is for Kristi - ManagerLet me start by saying I went visit this place back in April 28 looking for a place to have dinner after my wedding on June 26. Yes 12 days from now! At that time the employee gave us a piece of paper ripped out of a notebook 😳 to write down whatever information we can provide so Kristi can call us back.She called that same night and provided the following information:Yes, date is available, due to the amount of people 25-30 we don’t have space inside but the outdoor patio is available (which I LOVE it) also the employee point it out the cafe next door will be close so we can use the space without any problem.Cake will have to arrive close to the time because we don’t have space (understandable) she suggested to select at least 10 items from the menu so we don’t have our guests ordering all over the place. PERFECT!We sent the email with the menu selections 2 weeks ago and apparently she was calling the Maid of Honor and she was out of state, but can’t email her responses until TODAY!I got a call from my Maid of Honor saying that Krisi brought up all this excuses about “the weather changing if we had a back up plan, that we never confirmed, the menu should be ONLY 3 items, also mentioned a non refundable deposit, gratuities, the small kitchen etc...”Let me tell you something WE do have the $$$, we had the fancy glasses and I don’t mind paying for the champagne, I wanted the outdoor because my wedding ceremony is at Emerald Bay = Outdoor.We wanted something informal because our guest are informal and we like for everyone to be comfortable & welcome.If you had all this requirements for your business reservations then you should have email us that information in a CONTRACT back in April, 2 months ago! Your employees needed to be more trained before offering ANYTHING because if the cafe next door would happened to be open and they had an issue with us having our wedding guests there then WHO would be responsible? If you’ll like to do business then email everything at the time NOT 12 days before come up with a bunch of non sense excuses to make the bride & groom start running all over at distance because we live in Las Vegas and traveling out there for the wedding.Thank you but NOT it seems like our humble 30 wedding guest list is not enough to full-fill your business at this time! Food was delicious and service was very fast. Plant based menus are hard to come by so I am so happy to have found this place and will definitely be back. Only 2 small things to note- the view of the dishwashing station directly behind the counter where you order was slightly off putting, it was a total mess. And I did find 2 large and very tasty pieces of carne asada in my vegan burrito and while delicious, I know some people would not be thrilled to find the same.

Delicious. A little more pricey than a regular Mexican place ($14 burritos), but sooo worth it for a good meal after a long day in the forest. Quality ingredients, healthier options that are tasty and filling. I love the veggie burrito with some greens and purple sweet potatoes in it. Highly reccomend.

Its awesome to have a place in town that focuses on fresh food and veggie/vegan options, but theres work to be done here. The tortillas on our crispy chicken tacos fell apart in our hands, our nachos became a soggy mash on the drive home (why not serve the chips separate?), and the crema sauce tasted more like a bread dip than anything that belongs on mexican food. One of our party got sick after eating the sea bass/chicken as well. I think this place is on the right path, but its not there yet.

This place was incredible! Leaving Sierra skiing we simply wanted something close by. Frescana blew our minds. One of the best mexican meals Ive ever had. Walked in and was astounded by the beautiful aromas flowing fourth from the kitchen. Everyone inside was complementing how great this place was and that everything on the menu was delicious. I couldn’t decide so I asked them to surprise me with some thing off the plant-based menu. When the food arrived it was piled so high that I couldn’t even see the container it was packed into. My first visit I had a chili rejeno that was drowning in spicy enchilada sauce. Couldnt taste anything but the sauce. Had a seasonal veggie taco that was great. So, I went back. Ordered 2 seasonal veggie tacos and s crispy fish taco. The fish was dry and chewy, the veggie tacos were filled with beans and no veggies. The chef took a huge shortcut and just served whatever. I wont ever go back.

Being vegans.. We were so excited to see a vegan menu within the main menu of this restaurant! I was blown away with the love put into these dishes! Sometimes a non vegan restaurant wont give a vegan dish much thought. Not the case here! We ordered the quesadilla, a burrito and a jackfruit tostada! I cant believe how good the jackfruit was.. Its one of my favorites when done right and it was so delicious! The pepita sauce they make was so good I made my own version right when I got home from my trip! Vegan or not go and check them out. Finished a mountain bike ride close to this location. Looked on Google maps for a decent Mexican place before heading back down 50.I ordered a regular Carne asada burrito, on the menu it states $10. The next few bites were the same, strike 3x.......... Id say that 80%+ was fat and gristle, I typically like to eat beef, not fat and gristle so this was a major failure.So $12+ for a flour tortilla, rice, beans, cheese and salsa. That is not what the ingredients stated for the item that I ordered. It did taste pretty good for a vegetarian.If your heading to South Shore, there are much better places to go with better value. If you like Mexican, try Jalisco Grill, $7.50 for a super burrito which is really good especially after cycling! Stopped here for lunch after hiking and ordered the Surf and Turf burrito. I was eager to sink my teeth into a plus sized protein pill brimming with steak and shrimp. The burrito was huge, shaking the table when it landed in front of me. Too massive to eat vertically I went in with a fork and knife and immediately fell into a chasm of vegetation. 90 percent of the burritos interior was salad. I drew my machete and began hacking and slashing through the endless salad-o-sphere in search of the lost protein that was advertised to me. Along the way I encountered a whole piece of brocolli and a half pound of mushrooms. There was no rice, beans,or cheese to be found. After three weeks I came across Dr. Livingston who rumored the steak and shrimp to be purely legend. Just when all hope was lost I finally discovered my prize. Three pieces of shrimp and barely enough steak to fill a shot glass. I collected my bounty and solemnly began my return journey home. This will be my final expedition here.

Half of our order was wrong and when called the restaurant they had no interest in fixing/refunding the missing and made incorrectly items. The handling of food and management of restaurant is not safe. State of California and the City of South Lake Tahoe has issued a mask mandate with fines for individuals and non complying businesses who do not wear or enforce the wearing of masks. While some employees were wearing masks, multiple employees were seen in the kitchen and behind the counter handling and serving food, taking orders, and walking through interior restaurant space without masks. Customers in line ordering food were not wearing masks indoors, and multiple customers took off their masks to order their food at the counter. No social distancing in practice indoors, no sanitization stations present. One employee that was handling food and taking orders claimed they could not wear a mask because of COPD. Would not recommend dining or ordering food at this restaurant amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is possible this restaurant could or has already become a vector for community spread of COVID-19. After seeing several reviews mentioning this issue, please report to non-emergency El Dorado County Sheriff lines and El Dorado County Department of Environmental Health.
