Fumi is my favorite sushi in Modesto. The 49ers roll is my favorite. The salmon Hamachi is delicious. We also got some cocktails a margarita and the Hello Kitty Rita both were great.

I went for lunch with my mom and we got their lunch plate. the food was so good and fresh. the service was a little slow but they seemed busy. the price for the meal was okay. the music was nice and it wasn’t too loud. good place for a nice lunch or dinner.

My husband and I were seated right away! The server was very attentive and got us our drinks right away while also taking our appetizer order. Our sushi was done within 25 minutes I would say. I see she was fresh looked amazing and tasted even better! The only downside was there was a loud table behind us. But other than that everything was perfect!

Absolutely scam I forgot my card yesterday 07/14 around 6-7:30pm and returned shortly for the card the 2 girls in the front attending both piercings on the nose definitely committing fraud before I knew it my cards was getting charged in Moreno Valley Food for less for amounts in the $150 back to back total of 8 transactions, I will be disputing all my transactions including the restaurant’s. One does not go out to eat to get scammed .If the restaurant owner can please reach out to me so that this can be prevented or I will definitely be giving all this information to the local news if the owners are involved or similar cases have happened. Unfortunately the food is really good but I will not be returning.

Pros: Sushi was excellent. Reservations for our large was easy to make by phone and we were seated quickly.Cons: Waited too long for food and finished dishes weren’t cleared while we were there. A 2 year old received an adult portion and price for a teriyaki chicken dish; this is not kid friendly.

Good food but the wait time for online is ridiculous. Over an hour at this point and I got to the restaurant 20 minutes ago. They need to work on their online ordering. This has happened a few times when Ive tried ordering online, normally not this long but at least 5 or 10 minutes late.Also, look at this Koren BBQ Beef Bowl. PATHETIC!!! FOR $13?!?!

Delicious sushi here and the family had a great time. The atmosphere is very upbeat and comfortable in here. The food was fresh and our server made sure to keep our drinks full. We will definitely come back again! Im sure this place gets pretty busy but they had three sushi chefs going which made food traffic moving quick. I appreciate your hard work guys! Thank you!

The owner is such a sweet and amicable human I loved hearing his laugh from across the bar and the food was great. My first time having a sake bomb and it was delicious. Gotta come back for this sushi!!! The miso soup was tasty. I ordered the golden gate roll and I couldnt finish it soooo good.

Love this place! Sushi is delicious. The jalapeno poppers are my favorite, they are so freaking delicious. Nice atmosphere and good customer service. Some waitresses are better then other but.... we go here every week of not every 2 weeks. We started coming here after our other sushi place closed (lion fusion). Great replacement but I will say they make and cut the sushi very large sometimes making it difficult to chew.

Service and food are always great. If you have any questions about the menu, just ask. They are more than happy to answer your questions and give amazing recommendations for food and drinks. I always get the SF Giants roll and SF 49ers roll with some sort of Sake. Not because of the names; I just love whats in them. Very tasty and colorful!

Be careful with the seafood. Had a stack of 6 oysters and one of the was spoiled. Had no apology from anyone they said it should not have been rotten. What kind of excuse is that. Obviously it should not have been spoiled but it was. I vomited in their bathroom but they did compensate with a measly 50% the bad oysters. . . .

Not happy with the fact that we have to ask for Wasabi and ginger. They give a really small portion as if its not needed with sushi. I also ordered a lion king roll and it was have covered in sauce. Salmon was out visible and dried up. Had to request another one. Waitress took lion king roll and brought the same one covered up with sauce and mayo. Not happy with this place any more. I am a regular and I always told people that this is the best place for sushi... well thats going out the window now.

Awesome food that is elegantly plated and very delicious. A great variety of choices, and friendly and courteous care.The interior decor is a bit lacking, and it is a bit pricey ( count on roughly $18/person), but overall, no big complaints. Will definitely eat here again.

Great service and food. Second time going and it did not disappoint. All Sushis are basically all spicy, so if you are going for just sushi and cannot handle heat then this place is not for you. This place also does not have kid friendly options other than rice with teriyaki. My son is very diverse in food and loves the noodle soups and California rolls.

For the price its not that great. We ordered pretty basic plates since we hadnt been here in a long time. Chicken teriyaki, Tempura Shrimp, Calamari Steak and their corresponding rice and Miso Soup. First up, Miso soup was real cold which seemed to make it bot as tasty. I recall the soup being real good. Rice seemed old, it was very dry, almost under cooked. The Chicken was ok, pretty bland, but they seemed to go for quantity vs quality here. Tempura Shrimp was better, but the sauce was almost just water, no flavor. The Calamari steak was so overcooked it was extremely rubbery, almost like chewing on grisle. Maybe Im being too picky. The place was full, perhaps the rolls are of better quality. Careful going to bathroom, they are clean, but the floor is covered in ibdont know what. Just standing you can feel your feet sliding out from under you. Our server was very nice and patient. Replaced our Calamari steak no problem and very attentive. Maybe it was just a bad night for them, but I wouldnt go back.

3rd strike, I’m done with this restaurant, ever since the new ownership took over, the food stop being good, for the third time the food that I ordered was wrong, and it seems like they don’t care. The service is not what used to be and it shows. Why would anyone put sea weed on a chicken soup (and after pointing it out they just removed it and send back the exact same plate), or how can pork be confused with chicken? I believe in second chances, maybe a 3rd, but definitely not a 4th.

Staff always so friendly. Like many places some staff members are more attentive than others but so far everyone who served or helped me has been very pleasant. Ive sat in many times, ordered to go in person and over phone/online. Everyone is so kind and caring. Weather you choose to dine in or order Togo, maybe have it delivered. The quality of the sushi is still good. Definitely my to go sushi spot in modesto. Cant compare to San Jose but by far one of the best here in modesto.

Took my girl out to eat here on our 9 months. It was our first time here and although there were a lot of people there during the night, it brought out a great atmosphere. Everyone was enjoying their own time and so did we. We were very excited to try out this new and undiscovered place. Although each dish was on the pricey side, we still both enjoyed the ones we chose and they were well deliciously made. We would love to go here again and try out the new dishes they offer. I have ordered here twice now, and each time I have ordered food, it has taken over an hour to receive the food. The workers who attend to the outside window say they will check on your food, but never do. It’s a shame because the food is alright, but the wait time is UNACCEPTABLE. After a 25 minute wait for 1 person on a Tuesday night I was seated at 8:12pm in the bar area. The bartender/ waitress was quick to take my drink order and shortly after took my sushi order around 8:20ish (Spicy tuna jalapeño appetizer, 2 rolls and 1 hand roll) At 9:15 I payed for my drink and left with no food. Well my appetizer was brought out as I paid for my drink and left.After leaving I called and spoke to the manager who was actually my bartender/waitress come to find out and she expressed that they’ve been having trouble with the sushi chefs and orders coming out in a timely manner and apologized for the troubles.If you plan to order sushi be prepared to wait quite a while!

I would highly suggest as a corporate venture, business lunches, or to impress dinner guests. Beautiful interior with many sections for privacy and meetings. Food was not the best Ive had. Fumi is such a great restaurant. We love to go during evening happy hour for delicious appetizers (spicy calamari is to die for), specialty rolls, and cocktails. The staff is attentive and there is not a high turn over rate, so youll see familiar faces. The Snow special was absolutely amazing. Ive never had something that tasted as good as that. It was without a doubt one of the top 5 best things Ive ever eaten. Fumi Is without a doubt my favorite place in Modesto. I moved away about five years ago and this is the one place I always come back to when I am in town. We got there when the restaurant was supposed to be open at 4:30pm but they didnt open their doors until 4:35pm and when we entered they told us its going to be a 15-20min wait since they were short staffed. The worst part is they couldnt even sit us they asked us to wait outside rudely and that day was 102. They finally sat us and took forever to get our drinks and food. The food was good but I dont think I will be back after that horrible service. The girls at the front desk should really be councelled on customer service and how to make customers feel welcomed.

My last order was short a roll but it was a relatively large order and everyone had enough food and no one really complained so i let it slide. So, im giving Fumi 4 stars for a compound reason. Originally, i would have said 5, but valentines day skews this lower.Normally, Fumi is quick, clean, and delicious. The waitstaff are all wonderfully polite and welcoming, and your drinks are kept topped off. Asking for little extras like replacement chopsticks or spare plates is never a trouble. The food is delicious, fresh, hot (or cold) and worth what you pay.This was not true on V-day.On Valentines, our mistake was made obvious by a 2 hour wait. The restaurant was emptier than usual, yet the food took almost 2 hours to get to us when we were finally seated. And there was a terribly rubbery and bland $14 steak-and-lobster roll. Please do not make that again without some well thought out changes, it needs flavor.PSA: avoid eating at Fumi on holidays because 75% or more of what is being made is being picked up by uber eats, doordash, postmates, and the like. I had a sashimi salad and the fish was quality is poor and slimy and certainly didnt taste fresh. We were then approached and told that the calamari was running behind and thats what they are waiting on but our roll was ready. Have been going to Fumi Sushi since it opened and liked it. But recently started noticing that portions are becoming really skimpy. Order a salmon bowl and typical contents are 85% rice, 10% veggies and 5% small skimpy piece of salmon. That is really not cool and I would rather pay the extra dollar or two they want bu I hate being cheated on the description of the menu item. It is a rice bowl, not a salmon bowl.Others will catch on soon and they will notice their business down. Too many restaurants start of great but dont understand how they feel they can take the customer for a ride.

This is not the first time I have been to Fumi, however it has been a while. The Central Valley does not offer a large selection of sushi restaurants. However, Fumi is one of the best! I usually order specialty rolls, but this time I ordered the nigiri/sashimi platter that comes with salad and soup. The fish is what impressed me as it was very fresh tasting and biting into it was like biting into butter. I am usually hard to impress as I lived in San Francisco for a time and had access to some of the best sushi restaurants. Fumi impressed me!

Nice West Coast Japanese sushi rolls. Most of the time I do not order the ‘Special Roll’ because I prefer traditional sushi that they label as Standard Rolls. The Hand Rolls are non-traditional too but just as good as the maki. I wish the hand rolls were wrapped in tofu paper instead of seaweed but either way is okay.For anyone who likes sushi but prefers sashimi, you should try the Chirashi Don. It is an older type of traditional sushi served at home in Japan. IMO, this is their best dish.
