I tried to order the lunch special which on the menu states it is available 11am-3pm and was told it was weekdays only (it doesnt say that anywhere). And despite having ordered the lunch special last weekend. We were lied to just so they could charge us more. Gave 2 stars just because the food was decent.
This place was wonderful! I bin to a lot of Chinese restaurants and that was the most favorite one I like out of them. The food was fresh, and service was really nice, and the Thai milk tea or ice tea was so good, that I even had to take it with me! Definitely will come again and recommend this to other. What a good start to the day 😍 😄
Fantastic!! I was heled by a man whom I presume to be the owner. He was very kind and my to go order was ready so fast I barely felt I even had to wait. The extra spicy I asked for sure was taken to dear heart as well. Best Beef+broccoli I have tasted in years!!!!Thank u and I will definitely be back
My boyfriend and I tried this place on Saturday for the first time. It was soooooo good! 😋😋 We had orange chicken and chow mein. The owner Jack was super welcoming and funny too! Definitely coming back to try their sweet n sour shrimp !
One of the only Chinese food options in this part of town but it is the BEST. The owner Jack is so sweet—I pickup instead of have it delivered just to say hi.
My boyfriend and I wanted to go out for a casual date night and decided to go to Golden China. Upon arrival, the owner immediately sat us and took our drink orders. The owner was very friendly and talked with us a bit about the food and we had a nice conversation. We ordered the Wor Wonton soup, the chicken chow mein, and the Mongolian beef (the last two dishes at a medium spice level). He quickly brought out the soup and served us; the bowl of soup was huge and the wontons had good flavor. It was very filling, and probably could’ve made a meal all on its own. The chow mein and Mongolian beef were very flavorful too, and the portions were large enough for both of us to have two servings at the restaurant and still take left overs home! Throughout the entire meal, the owner came back to check on us and chat briefly, and it really made us feel that our business was appreciated and we weren’t just another set of customers. To have good food from a local restaurant and feel like your business is appreciated is a rarity in LA, so we are definitely planning to go back soon! If you are looking for good, mom and pop Chinese food with great service, definitely come here! You won’t be disappointed!
This place is a warm and friendly environment. It is clean and well-maintained. The staff makes you feel very welcome. But I think the best of all is the food it is a very good tasting Chinese food. I have only found a few restaurants like this that have that very unique taste. I will be returning to this restaurant very soon highly recommended.
I love this place. Huge vegetarian men, but its separate from the main menu, so you have to ask for it. Tofu ceramic hot pots are amazing. Also has classic greasy fare, if that is your preference. Remodeling is very nice atmosphere - much better than how it used to look. Is in a sketchy strip mall.
Im obsessed with their hot and sour soup. The orange chicken and Mongolian beef are also quite tasty. Panda Express this is not. The portions are bigger and everything in comparison tastes better. They have lunch specials which include a wonton, egg roll and soup along with your main course for 8-9 dollars. The shrimp fried rice is very delicious. Check em out.
We ordered the lemon chicken and beef with broccoli for our entrees. Although the flavor was OK, the chicken was so tough I could not cut it with a fork. The beef with broccoli was just OK, but bland and somewhat flavorless. The best part of the meal were the egg rolls! We will not be returning to this restaurant. I cant believe people have given this restaurant a 4 out of 5 rating.

Very nice. If you blink, you may miss it, because it is on a busy section of Venice Blvd in a strip mall area. But, they do have parking and once you get inside, it is a nice big space. Very clean. And they have 2 menus. One reg and one for Vegetarians. So, if you are a vegetarian, that is great.Food was delicious and the server was very nice. Will come back again.
Amazing vegan menu!We just moved to Culver from Silverlake, and were having a bit of trouble finding good vegan options. Golden China came through!We called to ask about the vegan options and the manager, Jack, was so knowledgeable and ready to help us out!The food was delivered early, and was hot and amazing!!
Owners are exceptionally friendly and courteous. Youre really treated well here, and the food is always good. Its our favorite local Chinese place when we want comfort food.
I had a friend in from out of town and we both wanted Chinese unfortunately both the Chinese restaurants I used to frequent have gone out of business so we tried this place and are we glad that we did! The food was wonderful; the spinach was fresh, all the food was fresh I had fish and vegetables. Everything was so good I recommend this place highly, service was impeccable as well.
If you are looking for true Chinese food skip it... If you are looking for Chinese-American food then it is a good place. Meaning many of the dishes are Chinese inspired as opposed to finding the same dish in China... Like Taco Bell vs Real Mexican food... This is for the not adventurist eater..
Clean place, charming server who I think is one of the owners. Food wasnt bad but not good enough to take home the leftovers. Plastic utensils and styrofoam bowls for dine in took away from the experience.
Very pricey, food was salty, and the worst part is that all entrees which are pricey around $14 dont come with free steam rice like other Chinese restaurants. You need to pay $7 for a small bowl of steam rice! Wont come back! I rather go to twin dragon on pico which any entree comes with a pot of steam rice and food is more delicious
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. Its your traditional sit down chinese cuisine kind of place. We ordered egg rolls, chicken fried rice, combo noodles, shrimp in lonster sauce and orange chicken for 4 us to share. Everything was delicious. The onky plate that we expected a bit more from was the orange chicken. The service was great and the food came out quickly. Over all a good experience. We will be returning to this restaurant.

We used to order delivery from this place when I worked on the west side 15 or so years ago. I rediscovered them when I had business in culver city. Too far for delivery, but its hard to find a decent place with the combination of favorite dishes this place has, so when Im in the area I sometimes swing by on the way home.Now that I come by for take out, I find them friendly and the service is so fast its easier to just walk in and place an order than to call it in for pick up.
The true definition of subpar. Had to ask for more water, had to ask for a straw for my water. Egg rolls were sad looking. They dont do the things that a typical good inexpensive sit down Chinese restaurant does. Like provide sweet & sour and hot mustard with the lunch combination. Food tasted decent, but I would not spend my money there again. Too many other restaurants out there that put in the work to earn my business.
Food was delicious. But they’re expensive and online ordering so confusing. I spent $16 for some general Tsaos chicken and it didnt even come with rice. The delivery guy asked me “don’t you need rice” but it didn’t even say it doesn’t come with it online.Really delicious food but not worth the hassle.
New menu has vegan options! Just ask. Most items can be made vegan. Great staff and atmosphere and the food is just amazingly crafted and full of flavor.
I find the food here very good. Staff are very affectionate and try their best to accommodate everyone. Since they may not have an American accent, it may appear a bit confusing to communicate, but the staff do their best to explain and also understand in a genuine way.
We ordered delivery from Golden China for the first time tonight and really enjoyed everything we got! They have excellent vegetarian options and we enjoyed the hot and sour soup, vegetarian kung pao chicken and vegetarian chicken and broccoli.
***They are currently closed for renovations after a fire.***Great food, fast service -- just make sure you get there on time so your food isnt sitting around. (Ive only ordered take-out so far).Have tried their Kung Pao chicken, General Tsos chicken, and orange chicken; also, their crab rangoon, dumplings and egg rolls & spring rolls are all delicious. Not the best Ive ever had, but definitely a step up from average fast food Chinese. I think the difference here is they have an actual sit-down restaurant thats pretty nice, so they definitely put more effort in than some others.Tons of variety, too -- havent tried too many of the chefs specials yet, but they sound pretty unique and tasty.
This has been our go-to place for celebrations for our family forever!! More than 4 generations have celebrated with orange chicken, Mongolian beef, wor won ton soup and crab rangoon, rice and jasmine tea. We have never had to wait for a table. The restrooms have always passed the Amanda examination test and the food is the best east of China!
We order a ton of take out here and have for 10 years. Mainly because you can make any dish vegetarian since they have many different soy/tempah based meats. Theyve had their veggie style menu for 25 years - its no fad here.
I dont really what to say about this place... i would give them a negative star if i could. I ordered a few meals to take home. There shrimp with losbter sauce, chowmien, shrimp fried rice, beef broccoli and kung fao chicken. The food was actually delicious. We started out fine with our meal. My family were enjoying the food until we got to the middle of the box of food my husband scoped a couple of pubic hair from the shrimp fried rice then we all kind lost our appetite to eat. My husband vomited after that. He was so upset with me as i was the one who recommended the restaurant.
Excellent service and the food is always fantastic. We have been faithful patrons for many years abd have never been disappointed. The ambiance is great too, usually they have traditional Chinese music softly playing.
I had a simple order of fried rice and egg rolls with not a cherry Pepsi as in background of fb-posted pics but rather an also simple tall glass of ice water. Their chili sauce is sweet and spicy like a good-loving woman and was very tasty. I was hungry and it was very good. Check it out if youre on Venice Blvd in Culver City adjacent to train station, its in the plaza across from CVS and T Mobile and Sprouts and Mod Pizza. Next door to an affordable and great licensed massage parlor where tonight I indulged in the pleasure of a 60 min. Hot Oil massage! A very relaxing evening indeed!!
Best cantonese food ever!! There are different styles to cooking chinese food, so if you like cantonses like I do, this is definitely the place for it. I have been coming here for about a year and they are always on point. I havent been disappointed yet..
Golden China Restaurant re-opened on Feb. 1, 2017, and is fully back in business. They still have two menus, one with traditional Mandarin and Szechuan Cuisine, and one menu that is entirely Vegetarian/Vegan. A real treat!
Garbage service. I went there with my mom and they didnt want to serve us at all saying that the staff was busy when the restaurant was clearly not crowded but did have some customers.. The woman could not give us a real reason for denying us service. So we left feeling discriminated against. We will not go back and we advisw black people not to go because they will not treat you fairly.
This place had a fire a while back so I wanted to check it out once they re-opened. This is your pretty run of the mill Chinese lunch time restaurant. The prices are very reasonable as the lunch menu items are mostly under $10.This isnt the place to go if you want high end Chinese food, but suffices in a pinch when you have a craving.
My husband is allergic to fish so he order Chicken chow mein, white rice and sweet n sour chicken. Apparently they are using fish ingredients in their food and not saying because he had one bite of the chow mein and is now sick. Im calling the health department.
With the very first time of me trying this place I was blown away with the flavor of this authentic food. Not like your usual chinese food this place serves some of the best chinese food in the western part of L.A. I wolud highly recommend eating here. 4 out of 5 because of service
I have been a very satisfied customer since the year 2000 when we discover this great and unique food place.i have a chance to travel to Lima Peru and San Francisco California and when i order my special order dish, this is the only place where they made it how I want and like it.

First time eating at this place I went with a small party of 10 people and we all enjoyed the food and service. Place is kinda hard to see because it sits right in the center of the strip mall between Del Taco and Wendys.
Waiter forgot my order after everyone else was served and he describednth we ingredients in the dish incorrectly and it had many of the vegetables i dont eat. Not sure i will ever be back. Only if forced by my friends to eat there.

2022-06-19 01:01:06Golden China restaurant is a hidden gem in the Culver City area. Those who know about it frequented often, those who dont are missing out big time. Theyre open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., so it makes it a perfect spot for lunch dinner and everything in between. They not only have a full menu for those that eat pork chicken and beef, they also have a completely vegan menu you just have to ask for it if thats what youre looking for. We were shocked by how quickly the food was made, and how flavorful it was. For those of us that are health conscious its a night its nice to note that they do not use MSG in their food. Its a quintessential Los Angeles restaurant, brandishing graffiti on the glass, clean bathrooms, and old school elders cooking in the kitchen. Its also right across the street from a Ross and a Starbucks so you can get your coffee fixed and your shopping fix done right after lunch. Personally, my family and I chose items off the vegan menu and they were delectable. We started off with the Mongolian beef, Veggie Chow Mein, Vegan Orange Chicken, Fried Mushrooms and steamed Brown rice. We ate to our hearts content until there was nothing left but a remnant of sauce at the bottom of the plates. Definitely recommend for anyone itching for some authentic delicious Chinese food.

2023-03-19 08:11:28Im patiently waiting for them to reopen again. This is the only Chinese food place that I have trouble picking a dish because of the vast options for vegetarians. Last time I visited I had to ask for the veggie menu, but worth it. I am obsessed with the texture of their veg orange chickn, it could fool some into thinking its the real thing. The kung pow, tho lacking the chicken texture is just so delicious I always struggle to try new dishes as I love these so much. Theyre always quick and affordable. I was upset to hear about the fire in the strip. I hope theyre back soon as I havent found another place with the same options.

For my first visit I ordered Vegetable Chow Mein and Sweet & Sour Chicken, both vegan of course. What a delight, the flavors of americanized Chinese food that I havent experienced since gaining compassion.Very well done if I may say so.I will return again to try many more of their vegan offerings and will tell my friends!

Portion sizes aren’t the largest, family-style always. Would come back for vicinity (walking distance in Culver City) and good, friendly service-supporting a family business.

I have been searching all over for a vegan general tsos chicken and they have it, and they do it just like I would get back in New york! Delicious!Its beautiful on the inside, much bigger than it looks from outside.Jack, the owner, couldnt be nicer!The vegan options are extensive!Cant wait to go back!

The food is delicious, delivery is fast and free, and the staff are very friendly and very accommodating.I tried them for the first time while my mom was visiting from out of town and Ive been hooked ever since!My mother and I are both vegan, and shes gluten free, which can make finding a good restaurant a challenge. The folks at Golden China were very knowledgeable on the menu and were willing and able to answer all our questions, and even make a few modifications to suit our needs.My mom has since returned home, but shes told me several times that Golden China will be our first stop when shes back.I would highly recommend the soft tofu and eggplant hotpot - under the vegetarian chefs specials. My moms favorite is the mock chicken and broccoli.

2021-12-03 05:07:09Really good Chinese restaurant. Food is fresh, always made perfectly, and made quickly.They no longer do delivery, but you can Postmates or whatever. Prices are comparable for actual restaurants: not a precooked buffet style fast food place. But its worth it.
