OMG the reviews did not disappoint! Ever since moving here I had not found such great chinese food. I love the authentic vibe of the restaurant and the super friendly service. I was also pleased to see that they had alcoholic drinks available (they don’t have it on the menu). A hot sake and ice cold beer goes well with the meals for those who enjoy it. I find that for the quality of the food the prices are very decent and worth it. I will absolutely be going back.

Surprisingly good Chinese food in a place not known for great food.The egg drop soup was rich and flavorful. The egg roll was light and crisp. The entree was delicious, with enough for 2 meals.Highly recommended.2 thumbs 👍

Great food and server Clarence. We eat at Full House in China Town Los Angeles regularly & that restaurant has been our Favorite Chinese Restaurant in Southern California. Now we have two Favorites! Food at Great Castle this evening was fantastic, as well as Clarences friendly service! The food was prepared to perfect consistency and all was delicious! Highly recommend The Great Castle Cuisine!

Very interesting Chinese restaurant ran by Taiwanese. The name in Chinese and English doesn’t match which just added to the charm. I would estimate that all of the people working in the restaurant were either family or friends. Service is unique and lovely. Food is the typical Chinese American style but with more of a Taiwanese flare. I would say probably the best Chinese restaurant in the area.

Place has been a favorite of me and girlfriend for a couple of years. Last couple times we noticed for 3 entrees we are now paying over $60!Prices have raised at least 3 times recently. Food is great but definitely not worth paying $20 per entree. Make sure you ask prices when ordering now seeing as they don’t accurately portray prices unless you ask. Receipts aren’t itemized either so it just said how much you pay and name of business. Doesn’t have prices per entree

We got called a disruption respectively soon as we sat then we ordered our food to go since our daughter was crying she was hungry and was told oh thank goodness when we said it was to go then got a rude attitude and look when asked of we were not leaving a tip! Liked the food but they ruined mine and my wifes night 😒we tried to dine in but were basically treated as a togo!

This Place was Amazing. Went with the whole family had allot of food. I was even Told NO in the funniest way!!! Totally Awesome. Great personalities, Great Atmosphere! All the food is Share food Meaning 1 dish feeds 2 to 4 people depending on portion size. So Have Fun When Ordering!

The workers there are rude. Multiple times now when I have gone they demand a tip on the check I signed. First time I had left it on the table, but now I refuse to tip. I tip because I want to and not because it is being demanded. The food is great though so we deal with it. Just ignore their demands for more money and enjoy your food

🤤Holy sesame chicken heaven!!! All the sesame chicken lovers out there can vouch on how rare it is to find sesame chicken anymore, and this is the place to go for the BEST sesame chicken! So saucy with fresh ginger and perfectly crispy! Every piece of chicken was perfect texture! No hard or fatty/vein pieces! It was DELICIOUS!!! I live an hour away but this is the place I will commute to for this craving! Highly Recommend ❤️

Wow. So I used to like this place. I always felt like they were wonderfully rude. I figured it was a cultural thing. But wow I see so many reviews of how they demanded a tip. It happened to me. Im the wrong one. I think they figured that out. Anyway the food is OK. I mean the lady that serves stinks like cigarettes always. The waiter literally brought me soda and boxes thats it. Is the water even potable? I stopped in spur of the moment with my wife. I had exact change. So I didnt tip. Mind you Ive been there with my entire family of 7 several times eand we leave a generous tip. Now I thought nothing of it. The waiter comes up and says you dont tip? Wheres the tip? I was like what? Then the stinky cigarette lady, who smokes inside the restaurant by the way against California health code, yells at me across the restaurant in front of other customers its for the service this how he makes his money! So I guess its my responsibility to provide a livable wage to their employees not the employers. How embarrassing for them. Anyway they should be ashamed of themselves. Rude & disrespectful. I CAN NOT trust then with my food. I will never go back again. Also they were openly discussing about selling the restaurant for $3.25M but yet were so demanding of a tip on a simple $30dinner for two ppl. Honestly worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant. I felt it alot of it was based on my race. We should not support a business that treats customers that way. They forgot that we shouldnt be treated as customers but as guests. Nasty bathrooms. And my kids noticed they their was big nasty Cockroachs in our tow of our plates we brought this to the MG attention and she was so rude she didnt want to return our money back .she told us not to come back why would we want to come back their. Great Castle never disappoints but I havent been here since my somewhat new gluten allergy. I called in advance, they told us there were plenty of gluten-free options, and they werent kidding!! They really went out of their way to make sure that I got exactly what I felt like eating and that it wouldnt hurt me. Excellent service, too.

The food here just doesnt disappoint. Everything is made to order so if you are looking for premium chinese food this is the place. The place could use a small remodel but they do well with the space they have. This is family style gourmet chinese food so dont expect it to be cheap but at least you can expect it to be delicious. And that is great by me, i chose this place for my family to bring me for my birthday. Yumm

Really amazing place. I have driven past it for years, but never stopped unfortunately because of the location. But I have seen many post online about it being the best Chinese food in Bakersfield, so we decided to give it a try. So glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing. The service was excellent also. Food was prepared very fast, and very delicious. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place for an excellent dining experience.

My honest review.Came here today for the first time. Two adults. We were seated quickly and waited… it was about 11:00 hadn’t gotten too busy yet. We waited a while to get our drink order taken. While waiting we kept smelling a musty, moldy type smell. Not overwhelmingly strong but definitely could smell it. Finally got our drinks and then later our food. The wait for the food was reasonable! The orange chicken was not that great! I am sorry. Just our honest review. The chow main was good! I got the shrimp chow main and it was good! Husband got the orange chicken and we just was not impressed. Two lunch specials and two sodas was $42.00I would gladly pay that for great service and great food but unfortunately we just were not impressed. By the time we got our food we both needed refills, we were half way done eating our food when we finally got a refill.After eating we sat and waited for a to go plate for my chow main but got tired of sitting waiting. I got up and walked over to the table that had to go plates on there and just grabbed my own plate so we could leave. Over all it was not horrible! But just was not impressed. Will I go back? Maybe so, but we are in no hurry.

Tbh very over priced for mediocre food. You have to pay for each item separate at over $15 each. I asked for tangerine chicken not spicy, it had to be remade. The egg drop soup has mushrooms, weve never had egg drop with mushrooms before, my husband is highly allergic. It cost $146 for a family of 4. We got the appetizer sampler that was supposed to be $23, she asked if we wanted it for 3 ppl, we said yes, they charged us $35. If I had known it was an extra $12 I would have skipped it. We ordered sweet & sour shrimp, coconut shrimp, tangerine chicken & shrimp fried rice & 3 bowls of soup... they were very nice about remaking the chicken but even then the flavor wasnt great. We will definitely not be back! The Rice bowl a quarter the price & so much better food.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant anywhere and anytime I visit Bakersfield I make an attempt to go here. The people here are incredibly friendly (and have been here since I was a small child). The food has great quality and they have amazing selection. The prices are reasonable.This trip we ordered Di Chen Chicken, Orange Peel Beef, Garlic Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Hot and Sour Soup and Chicken Fried Rice. Di Chen Chicken is my favorite. It is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and the meat is high quality. The Orange Peel Beef is also fried and I love that sauce too. The remaining dishes were good as well, though the first two were my favorites!

Lived in Bakersfield for 5 years ans had never been here, knowing that it is closing within the next year the wife and I decided to give it a try. The place is old school Chinese. We ordered way too much food. Appetizers for 2, walnut shrimp and moo shu. The food was good but not great but the service was amazing. I have never had a bad experience with Great Castle. That is until today husband bought me 2 different Chow Meins one beef and one chicken. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. They service is quick and efficient. The food is yummy; try the triple kung pao, egg rolls, mooshu pork, and the platter. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is a little iffy. I think they have security at night, but I just go during the slow afternoon when it is still light out.

First time for me, if you like Chinese food this is the ONLY place to eat it. If youre passing thru, stop here. The menu is almost overwhelming with choices there will be something for every one. They have a full bar and serve large partys as well as booth seating for 2. Can not tell you how good there sizzling rice soup is. It comes to the table then they add the rice that sizzles, flavors are perfectly paired with bok choy, water chestnuts, bamboo & chuncks of tender white meat chicken in a light broth full of flavor, just go. You will not regret it.

This is my favorite Chinese food restaurant in the world. I grew up in town and any time I am here I always stop for at least potstickers and orange chicken, but I’ve never had anything on their menu that wasn’t delicious. In all of my years traveling around I have never come across another Chinese restaurant as good as Great Castle.

Ok so hold on to your hats. I was a bit skeptical about this place but went ahead and gave it a try. Our host sat us and explained it was the best Chinese food around. I was skeptical, but WOW. Me and my fiance are just stunned on how good it is. I got the crispy spicy chicken and her mongolian beef. The house fried rice was amazing. The shrimp lomein was amazing. I fully recommend this place. 1 entrée and one side can feed two people. Great food!

The food is great. I love the sizzling rice soup. BUT, I feel like their prices always change because they are trying to make up for people not tipping. But then they still expect people to tip a crazy amount that they want. They will ask you out loud and even follow you to your car and ask you why no tip or why that amount. I get they work hard and it doesnt look like much people work their. But when you gotta wait for a long time for even a drink and food when clearly theres not many people in there....like come on. Tips arent required. Im sure they dont tip everywhere they go to eat. Theyve been in business a long time sure. But they need to work on their customer service skills and business 101. They should have individuals smoke 20 feet away from the building, as you dont know if someone has health issues. It absolutely tasted horrible then the waitress had a nerve to ask for her tip. In my opinion that was extremely rude. Food is great but the customer service was extremely awful. I had a friend order beef broccoli for me since I was going to pick up food for her that they left off her order. After leaving, I realized I didn’t have the steamed rice that always came with the item I ordered. My friend called the restaurant on speaker, explained I was missing an item & would return to get it. The lady on the phone said since she’s called too many times today, she was going to charge me $2 for the complimentary rice. I will never eat there again. Lived in Bakersfield 60 years and never went to Great Castle Chinese restaurant because of its location. Finally decided it was time I should try it on November 17 2020 because of the reviews online and what people have said about.Walked in and no one was there to greet me for 5 minutes.Finally a man walked into the reception area and expressly ordered me to sit down here and not there ...your not allowed to sit where you want to.Ordered the Chicken fried rice and Pot stickers 2 beers. My mom knows the manager and she always treats us well. The service is fast considering the sheer volume of food we had that night.The interior of the restaurant is very traditional Chinese culture. Lots of paintings and various decor. One thing I love is the round tables that are great for large families, so you dont have to ask can you pass me the X. Just spin the table around until your food shows up.Food is always amazing, no matter what you chose to order. The prices are well worth the quality of food. I Celebrated my 40th Birthday here with friends and family, it was amazing! We had the whole back room by the bar, which felt like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Dumplings were made fresh. Their steak and scallop dish was very good. Scallops were not rubbery. Very good restaurant.

Been here many times, never disappoints. Best Chinese in Bakersfield. Pot stickers and sauce are delicious. Kung pao shrimp and sesame chicken outstanding.

We were passing through the area while traveling and felt like chinese food for dinner. That place was worth the extra loop it took to get there. Great food. Probably one of the best chinese places ive been to. Decorations inside and aone furniture is a bit dated/tired :)

I was trying to find a delivery place and they were rude and way to over priced!!!! Wouldnt take an our of town number and I only ordered 4 items and the total was close to 80 bucks. I decided to go somewhere else and the lady got an attitude and said uh huh. Then hung up on me. I do not recommend them if you wish to have rude customer service.

Service seems to be dipping. Orange chicken was over cooked and the ribs were dry. Third time Ive been and the service and quality of food is going down.
