Great Castle Chinese Restaurant
410 Union Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93307, United States
I have never had a bad experience with Great Castle. That is until today husband bought me 2 different Chow Meins one beef and one chicken. The oil used was odd and there were almost no veggies and all noodles this is horrible to me and spending over 30 dollars. I am not sure I will be spending my money at another Chinese restaurant.

I remember when this place was a Sizzler 30 years ago! And then Ichiban sushi (owned by my uncle), and then Shangri-la (where the current decor is from), and now Asian Vegan Bistro. Ive been here twice now, and the food has been great so far! The first time, I went for my birthday with a bunch of friends. Most of the food we tried was really good! The only exception was the tonkatsu ramen, which tasted a little funny. I had the spicy beef noodle soup, which was under the Chinese menu so I thought it was going to be more like Taiwanese beef noodle soup, but it ended up more like bun bo hue (which is Vietnamese), with rice noodles. It was still good, just not what I was expecting. The walnut shrimp was also decent but could have used more sauce (my standard for walnut shrimp was the version at Panda Palace back in the day). Happy there is a third fully-vegan restaurant in Bakersfield now (after Better Bowls and Vida Vegan)!
Heart Of India Bar & Restaurant
Ming Ave #5123, Bakersfield, CA 93309, United States
**Heart of India: A Culinary Delight**I recently had the pleasure of dining at Heart of India, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was enveloped in the warm and inviting atmosphere that truly lives up to its name. The decor beautifully reflects Indian culture, and the ambiance is perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The menu at Heart of India is a treasure trove of authentic Indian cuisine, offering a wide variety of dishes that cater to all tastes. Each dish we tried was a masterpiece, bursting with flavors and spices that transported us straight to the heart of India. The Chicken Tikka Masala was creamy and rich, with just the right amount of spice, while the Lamb Biryani was perfectly cooked and aromatic. The vegetarian options were equally impressive, with the Paneer Butter Masala standing out as a personal favorite. What truly sets Heart of India apart, however, is the impeccable service. From the attentive waitstaff to the quick service, every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. Special thanks must be given to the manager, Vipassana, whose dedication and passion for hospitality are evident in every detail. Vipassana went above and beyond to ensure that our meal was perfect, offering personalized recommendations and making us feel truly valued as guests. In conclusion, Heart of India is a gem that offers an authentic and delightful dining experience. Whether youre a lover of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is a must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend Heart of India and extend my deepest thanks to Vipassana for making our evening so special. We cant wait to return!
Muskaan Indian Cuisine
3017 Wilson Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93304, United States
Most people dont know about this place, but more should. I got butter chicken and dal makhani along with garlic naan. Both are absolutely delicious and should definitely be tried if theres an uncertainty about which item to eat. Fresh and fast, too. Will be back soon, thank you.2weeks later update: tried the dal makhani & malai kofta with garlic naan. Although it was delicious, Im not 100% about the freshness. It may be better to order while there at the restaurant or eat there to assure it was recently made. I asked for raita, before paying & after receiving the already bagged food i ordered, I saw an employee get it from the buffet, just wondering if the rest of my food was given from there. Again, could be fresh, and it is delicious, but it would be better to not have the food exposed.
Bangkok Street Food
6300 White Ln Suite F, Bakersfield, CA 93309, United States
We have no idea why this place is not overly crowded. Its really hard to find authentic and good tasting Asian food in a small City like bakersfield. But alas we have found it! The Thai food restaurant is a place to make a destination on your travels or if youre a local you should certainly take time to come here yourself. You have not ever experienced spice until you have tried any of their spicy food. For a spice lover my spouse had the medium and was about in tears! We love to the vibe that the restaurant itself procured from the declarations and the music going on in the background. Once again very surprised that we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. They had quite a few takeout orders coming in. Our service was actually very quick, he believed this is because they put their sit down customers above takeout customers. This is something to value in todays restaurant industry. We hate it when we have to go into a restaurant and sit there for 2 hours when the takeout would have only taken 15 minutes. The service was above par with the friendly staff who was not overbearing.
New Saigon Restaurant
333 Union Ave #201, Bakersfield, CA 93307, United States
I didn't get any pictures because everything was so perfect and we ate it all but I ordered the #45 Beef Noodle Soup and it was AMAZING and their pho is the best in Bakersfield such a rich and clean tasting broth and the meat is so tender? We ordered spring rolls, rice and boba as well all which were absolutely delicious and the food is very reasonably priced. Along with amazing service and they always take care of their customers as well, when we walked in there was a man trying to steal someone's credit card that had been left there and the owner was very firm and stood his ground which I really appreciated and shows just how good of a business this place is:) They're expanding and undergoing remodeling right now but the food and service are so amazing you won't even notice?
K Wings
8200 Stockdale Hwy ste k-4, Bakersfield, CA 93311, United States
Bob Bok Chicken closed so I was forced to look for another Korean wings chicken place. I was excited to try K Wings Korean chicken. Come to find out their chicken was not Korean but tasted like Chinese takeout. I tried their Takoyaki, the Oh! K fries, and the Sweet & Spicy chicken. The Takoyaki was okay but it felt like it was missing something. The Oh! K fries were supposed to be garlic butter but all I tasted was no garlic but Parmesan and butter. There was no salt. The sweet and spicy chicken was spicy but I expected them to use Gochujang chili paste instead of spicy sweet and sour sauce. I was disappointed and will look for another Korean wing place.
Jasmine And The New Taste
1823 Chester Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93301, United States
My GF and have been to many Thai restaurants up and down California most of which have been so delicious I feel like Im in Thailand. Jasmine And The New Taste........well...... new yes because Thai food this bland is new to me. Our Panang chicken was very watery and the veggies had a glass look to them, the kind of look when you cook with frozen produce. Also, had an inadequate amount of coconut milk. The Pad See Ew we ordered felt it was missing its brown sugar/oyster sauce component and was only seasoned with soy sauce. The most egregious part of all.....the fish cake.... a staple among many Asian cultures, cooked lovingly by grandmothers (including mine)......cooked unloving and possibly by a microwave used by grandmothers. The texture was like gnawing on a rubber gasket synonymous with being frozen then overcooked when reheated. Im sure the fish cake could have been used as a hockey puck in case the world supply of hockey pucks is ever depleted. The staff is friendly and nice...I wish the food was just as warm and inviting.
ReMix Asian Kitchen & Ramen
9450 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93311, United States
I miss them so much. They were hands down my favorite restaurant and I don't know where they went!I went to Remix to celebrate, to eat, to feel better, to unwind, to prepare, and to feel welcomed: it was a place where I felt at peace as if the food was healing. You can't pay enough for a place or people or food that makes you feel that way.Flame and Fire, O Ramen, Hon Ramen, Bentos, Vice Roy, Frugatties, and Hungry Hunter can't hold a candle to Remix and now that they are gone eating out isn't the same. The pork was always nice and thick pieces that were so tender they'd fall apart on your chop sticks! The broth was always creamy yet light and perfectly seasoned! The egg was always so well seasoned, and perfectly soft and creamy! the noodles!!!!! The noodles were always perfect and never ever slimy. Not to mention the staff: I loved talking with them, and they always remembered my wife and I, even if it had been several months: they always seemed l humble, and when I was at their table, I felt like I was welcomed by everybody, the owner would tell me about Japan and where he got his inspiration, his sister always remembered our orders, the young lady that worked the counter and cooked was always quick and very tidy, and the older woman who cooked knew how to make the food PERFECT and together their food and their restaurant made me smile. It's been a little over 3 months since they closed, maybe longer, so I finally broke down and went to O Ramen and it was so bad I nearly cried! The noodles were slimy, the egg tasted like smoke, the pork was as thin as deli meat, and the broth tasted like buttermilk!!! Not to mention my chicken katsu was so over cooked that the meat shriveled inside the breading. Maybe that's traditional ramen, I don't really know, but it tasted processed and over cooked.Remix I miss you and your whole family: it makes you guys who you are, and it makes you the best: even if you don't have a line out the door every Saturday night. Please come back, Bakersfield needs you!
Thai House Restaurant
5143 Ming Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309, United States
So this is my fourth time coming to this restaurant and last!! the first 3 times coming i had no problem and the food was very good, but unfortunately this time the waitress was very very rude to me and my family we were the only hispanics at that time i dont know if this was a racist action or what, but she was responding rude to us and final thing she charged us $19 dolars because we came in a group of 5 adults and 2 kids! She says the groups of more than 5 or more they charge a sitting fee that its expecify somewhere on the menu!!! Sorry but for me this is totally crazy since you are already paying for food and service and they have to be prepared to received people kindly and paying to eat inside the restaurant for my opinión its completely crazy!
