We got the standard course for two people. While the food was good and the service exceptional, the sticky floor, sticky sauce bottles and filthy bathroom really took away from the experience. For that price, things should at least be clean. Our waitress is the primary reason it got as many stars as it did. She was great!

Wandered in no reservations. No biggie wait was only 20 mins and we killed time in target. Tonight we went for appetizers, rice, and noodles. It was nice not sweating and cooking. Dont get me wrong thats fun from time to time. Not the vibe we were going for tonight. Manuel did a great job keeping our beverages full and the table clean. Always quality dishes. Obsessed with the spicy cabbage!

Mostly my rating is low because of service. Our first server was very unhappy. We needed to change a grill and he was passing us like we did not exist. We had to wait maybe for 10 min until we stopped him and asked for new grill. He did not asked even once if we needed a refill for our soft drinks. At the end new server took over, he was great. The first thing he asked was if we needed refills. But he served us only for the last 10 min of our dinner. We wish he would be our server from the beginning. Also, be aware if you order 2 of the same thing, ask for separate plates otherwise you would get 1.5 of what you ordered.

We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes, finally seated in a dark area with no lights. They said all other places were sitting, or the fire did not work. We got our first dish after 30 minutes and had to use the cell phone lights to check whether the meat was done. Unfortunately, most of them were burnt and tasted terrible. The grill was also burnt and dark. The servant adjusted the fire and got the fire broken on the halfway. Close to our seats, there were junks placed on the other seats. The restroom was terrible, with a sticky floor and no tissues. It was the worst AYCE and the worst AYCE BBQ I ever had. I wrote this down while waiting for my second round of dishes. Yes, only got four dishes in more than one hour.

The experience was awesome.Our server explained everything to us thoroughly.You pick a menu section and are entitled to select anything you want; they bring it to you. You cook and eat it! All is seasoned and marinated in a delicious way.Their soy sauces are delicious as well.The mochi afterwards is highly recommended.It’s pricey but you get your fill and it’s a very social event.

This place needs a deep cleaning. I’m surprised that the health dept keeps it open. There dust everywhere, peeling paint, dirty walls and scuffs. The bathroom is disgusting and there was toilet paper and sanitary napkin wrappers everywhere. The dining tables are stained and burned and the floors are dirty and sticky. Not very appetizing, food didn’t seem to taste as good.

I went here a little back and I had a good meal here and it was great but however I over heard some people talking about this employee talking about this worker named Eveyln.A.I head some gossip a few times going around and I heard she causes issues with workers here and I heard she even threw flour in some oil which almost burned one of the workers there. Also some other rumors I heard she harasses and curses at co workers. The food is great but I do not wanna come back here knowing rumors of a employee who causes that much trouble to the workers and may even cause fires due to a stunt which I mentioned earlier.

I love this place, had fun grilling our marinated meat which by the way so delicious and tasty. We ordered the lunch course for 2 people and it was enough with the 3 of us. It came with 5 different kind of marinated meat, salad, miso soup, white rice, adamame, and lastly smores. I highly recommend . From what I heard the Kardashians eat here too 😆

I used to live in Sherman Oaks and was a regular at the Gyu Kaku before there were so many chains; however, now I moved closer to the Canoga restaurant and I rarely go. So my review is specific to the Canoga branch.We love the food at this restaurant in general. The food here is good. We especially liked the side sauces, marinades on yaki-shabu beef, and the Gyu Kaku salad. In some places in which you grill the meat it sticks to the grill but not here. I do however feel like outside weekday lunch combos and happy hour that the food is a little too pricey. We paid around $65 for two on the weekend plus tip. Everything on the weekend is a la carte and adds up quickly.What we didn’t like at this branch was the general experience. For reference we were there on a Saturday afternoon.The area around the hostess table was cramped and crowded. The hostess did not welcome guests and disappeared for a bit with no word. So there were several people waiting to be seated looking at each other wondering what happened. They do have the texting system which was good because we were able to visit the Sanrio store in the mall without feeling claustrophobic waiting. Once we were seated, the waitress quickly took our order but it felt rushed and we felt bad asking for things. Kind of like when you’re in the drive thru and you feel bad bothering the already over burdened employee by asking for more things. It felt like they were working in such small spaces trying not to hit guests or drop food. One guy was holding five drinks in his hands spilling some of it trying to squeeze by the other tables. Our waitress was serving at least five tables and one of them had six people. We asked for forks but didn’t get them. We also gave up asking for more refills. They needed more employees for sure but I felt they didn’t have the room for them. Our check took about 20 minutes after we were finished eating. I wished they had one of those iPad looking things that let people pay at the table. My daughter was super ansy. I saw more than one mom trying to keep her kid contained in the small space. So I definitely would not recommend this place to someone who has less than an hour for lunch or even people who have restless children on the weekend. There’s no child menu or coloring to keep them busy like in some restaurants. There’s very little space for strollers. Since it’s at the mall full of families, I felt it was lost potential.As others mentioned the decor needs updating and the bathrooms desperately needed some TLC. Honestly, I really feel like they could do with an interior designer to make the space function better. It seemed like portions of the restaurant were super cramped and other parts were unused. Maybe put the bar area in the back versus right up front where they need space for restaurant seating and waiting?Overall, the food didn’t disappoint however the general upkeep, service and layout of the restaurant needs a little help. Also, if you want to save money chose weekday lunches versus the weekend where the same food is much pricier.

Excellent customer service. We had two servers both which are named Maya warm personality! We were a party of 10 people. Food is really good ! The restaurant needs to be upgraded badly. For one of the grills the flame was not working, we did ask if we were able to move from tables, but they did say some of the grills on other tables were not working. AC not working properly, really hot where we were sitting. Only value menu was available due to fryer not working, walls are dirty, no ice cream. Please upgrade restaurant!!!
