I recently traveled to LA/SGV and discovered Happy Buddha Kitchen, a Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant that has truly impressed me.😋😋 The food is exceptional, with a wide range of flavorful dishes that capture the essence of Vietnamese cuisine. 🫔🥗🍛🥟They recently got a new menu and added tons of options too! The staff is friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Great vegetarian restaurant! Probably the best in town. They have great selection of different food for your like and ranging from authentic Chinese style to Vietnamese style. The chief and owner continuously update their menu with great tasting food. We had Orange Chicken, Beyond Pho, Eggplant with Tofu pot and Egg Rolls for dinner. The service is above and beyond, even a slice of lemon in the tasty iced water! The price is very reasonable consider the current inflation. The majority of the dishes are around $12. Great restaurant and will definitely suggest to everyone vegetarian or not!

Nothing is better than VEGAN pho after mass on a hot Sunday afternoon in sunny California! (I chose the “dac biet” pho, which had mushrooms, Beyond meatballs, vegan ham, & 2 kinds of tofu). To treat myself, I also ate a plate of 5-fried vegan egg rolls filled with veggies & toro ❤️ It was a delicious meal - I recommend this place to my vegan brothers & sisters!!!

First time trying Happy Buddha. All the food is vegetarian even though the names mimic dishes with meat. Food was so amazing and the staff were super nice! I went with a friend. We tried the uber delicious bun bo hue. This is a must try. My friend is Vietnamese and said its better than anything hes had. The lemongrass chicken tasted like real chicken and the sides were great, too. Egg rolls were crunchy on the outside and soft and tasty on the inside. Perfection! Parking was a breeze with the large parking lot and big spaces. Tater tots and waffle fries came in cute holders.I like that they offer really high quality free candy like Hersheys and Reeses. Also, they are running a limited time special to support the Girl Scouts! We got a box of free cookies.Will definitely come again! Thanks for the warm and excellent service.

My family and I are returning customers, as we couldnt resist the absolutely delicious and unique vegetarian restaurants menu!! Today, we ordered favorite past foods such as the Tofu Rolls and Shrimp and Pork Rolls, Rice Noodles, Stir Fried Vegetables, and Combination Pan Fried Rice Noodles, as well as a new dish, Egg Rolls--all were tasty and clean as usual. Also, the customer service there is excellent; they were kind and flexible with orders. Im not a big fan of mint in my spring rolls, so I asked for none. They complied with my wishes with no problem at all, so Im very appreciative of that. 5 stars overall!

This is such a hidden gem in Temple City. Everything we ordered are DELICIOUS. Ive never eaten an egg roll since I dont eat pork. That been said, this is the first-ever egg roll in my life and I LOVE IT! If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, I would choose this taro taste egg roll. The salt and pepper chicken (heard its their new dish) is also super good. Highly recommended for anyone who is vegetarian.

Ive been to Happy Buddha numerous times now and it always delivers. Ive been vegan/vegetarian for 13 years and Ive eaten at countless vegetarian spots (its kind of a hobby of mine), and this spot is one of the few that can incorporate authentic flavors that are dialed in just right, a bright/open/unpretentious atmosphere, and insanely reasonable prices.Fun fact: as part of a vegetarian temple, I often bump into members who have been vegetarian for decades...so yea, this place is onto something lol

Was looking for a restaurant with healthy, tasty, and vegetarian options. So happy I found Happy Buddha Kitchen. They will make eating more plant based diet so much easier. In Temple City Plaza next to Office Depot and CVS.Love the chill and wholesome ambiance and decor. Music selection was spot on. Like a lot of other people said, the restaurant was very clean. Staff was attentive and came by to check on us on a regular interval.Thai iced tea tasted like the Thai tea I tried in Thailand! Authentic. Super yummy and you can ask for oat milk or almond milk if you prefer.Steamed rice rolls were light and had crunchy egg rolls. Sauce went well with the rice rolls.Bun Bo hue was amazing! So much flavor. Dare say even better than the meat version.Will definitely be coming back soon!

Food was amazing. You don’t have to be vegan/vegetarian to love this place. We tried the fried egg rolls, shrimp & pork rolls (my favorite!!), and tofu rolls as our starters which were delicious with peanut sauce. The main dishes of lemongrass chicken as well as the mixed vegetables pho were both extremely tasty. We’re very pleased with how large and filling the portions were. Kind staff, great location, incredible flavors and reasonable prices. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Excellent taste! I love the menu offerings and the impossible pho was delicious! But the best were the egg rolls! Omg! Tasted just like non-vegan and comes with a vegan fish sauce which was excellent too. I love the different sauces they had on the table. The only thing we were disappointed with was the lemon something boba. I would skip the boba. Not their specialty. Good service, clean place, nice ambience. Overall a good experience.

Lemongrass chicken! Lemongrass chicken! Lemongrass chicken! Trust me. You’ll thank me later. This is definitely their must try dish if it’s your first time and only getting one item. If getting two items, then gotta add the bun bo hue. Personally, I like to sub in the wide egg noodles. I overheard some aunties saying how good it was and had to try it. Did not disappoint. Glad I heard them talking about it.Pleasant customer service. Waitress came by a few times to ask how we’re doing and added water for us. Definitely excellent service for the price point. On par with much more expensive restaurants. They seem to have a lot of people working for a relatively small restaurant.

Having a great time in this vegetarian restaurant!Great variety of selections including noodles, drinks, stir fried, and deserts. And they are all super delicious! This is one of the few places we dined in since the pandemic started. Inside the restaurant is very clean. Service is fast and courteous. Our orders came out really fast as they were not too many customers in the restaurant. Unlike other Vietnamese vegetarian food their dishes are very light and not too heavy.

Been here a couple times now and everything Ive tried has been great. If youre looking for a surprising experience, then this is the place! If your looking to try something new, try the clay pot fish or lemongrass chicken you wont believe how similar the flavors and texture is. The staff was attentive and friendly. My family and I have been trying to eat more of a plant-based diet for health and other reasons. Glad to see this restaurant just opened in Temple City. There aren’t too many great choices for people looking for vegetarian food around the area. We got the two most popular choices: lemongrass chicken and bun bo hue. Both were amazing and full of rich flavors. The bun bo hue honestly tastes better than the meat version of the dish I’ve tried at other restaurants.I also decided to be a maverick and tried out the fried tofu and fried rice. Anyone who knows me knows that I love the sauces that come with my food. The sauces pretty much make the dish in a lot of cases. For the fried tofu, their sauce was so delicious! It went together with the tofu perfectly. The sauce was pretty light but still really tasty. Fried rice was literally the best I have ever tasted. Not sure how to describe it, but it’s just really good.

Loved this place and they have delicious vegetarian Vietnamese food! The restaurant was very clean, staff were so friendly and even gave a small free dessert! I was surprised to hear they have only been open for 2 months, the food was great and they seem to be doing really well! We went at 1pm and several tables were full.Beef pho - the beyond beef in here was SO GOOD, I wish there was more of it! I also loved the tofu skin. The stir-fried rice cakes are super good! Ive been looking for a restaurant that can make it like this so I dont have to keep driving all the way to South El Monte for it. I also got the sweet and spicy fried tofu to get a whole different taste for the meal.Recently got the pomegranate juice and it was good! Havent had any in a while. If you get the chance, get to know the wonderful owner of this place. Having the pleasure to talk to Kenny and hearing about his background was so humbling. I ordered Bun Bo Hue, a traditional central Vietnamese dish not often offered due to its specialty. Also, my first time having the vegetarian version. The broth was just just as top notch as the hospitality! I actually found myself preferring this as it wasn’t as salty as many non-vegetarian places make yet still retaining the traditional flavors and spices. Another component is that vegetarian imitation meats usually throws me off. But the vegetarian pork loaf are in its own class! Delicious! Really skillful and creative dishes. Personally, gave this omnivore new perspectives. Would recommend to everyone to try!

This was my first time eating dine-in at Happy Buddha Kitchen (they opened not too long ago + My fam and I usually order to-go). Hand sanitizer at each table and employees all wear masks. All vegetarian menu (some vegan options as well but I’m not sure which menu items).Highly recommend for even non plant-based friends & fam to try! I heard the owner hired a bunch of old-timers in the restaurant business to work on the menu, and it really shows 🥰. I haven’t tried every item on the menu yet, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how good the ones I have are (tmi: I don’t tend to like eating imitation beef/fish). A lot of the pho restaurants in the area with vegetarian pho also tend to have a slightly sweet broth, and the one at this restaurant isn’t at all.My favorite so far is the Pho Dac Biet (I didn’t order it this time), especially that combo of the crunchy tofu skin (I think it’s supposed to be crispy chicken skin 😋) and beyond meat balls.

I was craving some vegetarian food and I came upon this gem in the 626! The staff was exceptionally friendly and the food came out quick, hot, and delicious! My friends and I shared the vermicelli with egg rolls + shredded pork and the crispy yellow noodles. They were fantastic and I cant wait to come back to try all the other menu items. I love the food and its atmosphere here. Everything would be perfect if it wasnt for the table in the corner, they are so loud! Two gentlemen next to my table were annoyed by it also. Such an authentic place for all your rice noodle dreams with delicious throughout broth! It’s rare now a days to find spots where you can select your own type of noodle and not just the regular pho noodle! They carry thin to wide!Basil fried soy chicken IS ADDICTIVE! They still use the good quality soy meat which a lot of other place replaced with cheaper brands to cut cost, but not them!!!

My first visit, quite fascinated with the idea of Vietnamese vegetarian. I was a bit skeptical but dishes tasted much better than I expected. However, overall it’s a bit too salty. The sauce for the clay pot pepper fish was way too salty, the fish itself was actually well made. Loved the eggs rolls, has a crunchy chewy texture, quite nice. Hope they’d consider reducing the salt level then I will for sure go back.

Food is not that good. Lost the receipt, would of took pics. Ordered for take out. They gave us two of the same item which was the stir fried veggies, didn’t get the stir fried rice cakes with egg. Also ordered stir fried tofu with eggplant which i didn’t see. There was an item with tofu, if this was the item, then there was no eggplant to be seen. Spent 70$ +, didn’t get what i ordered and the food was a disappointment. The fried tofu was good though, only thing i really liked. I don’t eat meat and have limited places to eat, will not eat here again. Drop by another star, no flavor. Lunar Feast Veggie Cuisine in Rosemead was so good, wish it didn’t go put of business.

If you are in the SGV and craving Chinese/Vietnamese dishes, check out Happy Buddha Kitchen! Theyre a relatively new vegetarian restaurant in the defunct K-Mart plaza. If you want something soupy, go for #10, their Bun Bo Hue (Hue Style Spicy Beef Vermicelli Soup). If you are looking for a rice dish, go for their lemongrass chicken, number #21. This is the only vegan Vietnamese restaurant in the area. The dining area is neat and very clean. There are plenty of parking.The menu offers a good selection of rice dishes and pho noodles. The soup is as good as the regular pho soup. They finally added some more Chinese vegetarian dishes! I really needed this. Not too many other good options nearby so this place is for sure saving me a lot of gas and time stuck in traffic. Not to mention, their prices are very reasonable considering how much all the ingredients have gone up recently. Its nice to find an all vegetarian place in the San Gabriel Valley area. A Vietnamese restaurant at that. We were there on a Tuesday night, roughly at 7pm. First impression was that this is a very clean place. Second was the nice greeting from the hostess. She was quick to be attentive to our questions about the menu. We chose the cha gio, bun bo hue, and the banh ut. Considering it were meatless, the flavoring was close but not quite. However, it was tasty and flavorful. The combination of service, friendliness, and good food would bring take me back to patronize in the near future. A place to recommend to those who are vegan and looking to try Vietnamese Vegan. One additional incentive is their pricing. Today, one would expect dishes to run somewhere between $14 - $16 for dinner. Our three items averaged $11. Pretty good deal overall.

I drive by this place often. My family decided to come for a Sunday lunch after temple. Place was packed but the wait wasnt long. I ordered the vegetarian cá kho tộ (fish) and chả giò (egg roll). Food was flavorful and had generous portions. Egg rolls are one of the best Ive had anywhere.Place is well lit, plenty of attentive staff and clean. Will be coming back when i need to take a break from meat.Highly recommended if you are looking forviet vegetarian food in the 626 area.

I have never thought of becoming a vegetarian but after coming here, I might consider it. Me and my party were feeling a little more adventurous one night and decided that we would come here. Safe to say that we discovered this restaurant that will now be one of our mainstays for years to come. Our party ordered the vermicelli with egg rolls and shredded pork, the crispy yellow noodles, and the beef noodle soup (pho). All these dishes were very tasty and reminded me of some of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants and dishes that I have had (and there are a lot). The crispy yellow noodle was especially surprising as the noodles themselves were unlike anything I had before and I found the dish to be my favorite, even despite its unfamiliarity to me. I think meat-lovers (like myself) and vegetarians alike will find something to really like about this place and I know that Ill be visiting again very soon!
