Homi Japanese Ramen in Sunnyvale

A unsuspecting chinese/japanese restaurant next to Saigon Seafood Harbor.Most ppl usually get the chinese food here which isn’t bad. The portion sizes are quite big but mostly because it is meant for family style eating where you share dishes.Ramen is more like a Taiwanese/Chinese soup flavor so don’t expect the Ramen to be Japanese Ramen here (despite the name haha)Lots of parking in the plaza but only one entrance if you are turning in from LawrenceService is alright, we went when only one server was available

Entered without being greeted to irashai mase! A classic and authentic greeting in Japanese restaurants. Instead we were quickly rushed to a seat, given hot tea without asking for it (and when I mentioned my wife is pregnant the waitress, Chinese, said oh I dont know anything about the tea.When I tried to order the first time she hurried off without a care in the world and when I finally kept her attention and ordered, she was very fast and not personable at all. There was no hello, how are you? Or even a greeting of any kind.When we received our authentic ramen it turned out to be far from it. My wife, from Osaka Japan, even commented on this.Cucumbers and tomatoes in a vegetarian Ramen?I was also confused. Even the mushrooms werent authentic.I had ordered vegetarian miso Ramen with tofu, to which they blasted my Ramen bowl with an assortment of random vegetables without a care (see image)My wife ordered the chefs special, which was mixed meat and seafood. And her Ramen had no flavor to it, wasnt hot at all, and the meat wasnt goodIf this was advertised as a chinese cuisine, or an Asian cuisine with different dishes, including Ramen, and not framed as authentic Japanese ramen I would have given it 3 stars. I only gave 2 because the meal was somewhat palpable, delivered quick, and somewhat cozy environment.

Friendly family restaurant with good home cooked staples. Cantonese style soup are very good, along with traditional steamed rice mixed with a variety of yummy ingredients. They also have some Japanese ramen & stir fried noodles that are delicious. Pricing is very reasonable for large portions.

A mix of Chinese and Japanese food. The combo include rice, soup and vegetables, the amount is quite decent. Recommend scrambled eggs with shrimp, but others were just so so.

The first time I went there the service was excellent the food was delicious I had ordered the black pepper chicken.At the second time I went with my niece the service was not good at all I ask for chopsticks. And the person said oh I didnt know you knew how to use them thats why I didnt give you any!!! The sweet-and-sour pork my niece said the pineapple tasted like beer. she did not want to eat the rest of it the pork did not taste like pork to her.

Huge portions for a great value quality is decent overall. Great for a quick bite and casual dining . Can fit groups of 4 easily and they have flexible seating to accommodate larger groups of 8 or even more if needed. Staff is quick to prepare the meals so no need for long waits. I can see that changing with busier crowds though.They serve you hot tea as the sit down beverage of choice and youll have to ask for water if you need it. There is male and female restroom.Overall decent place to checkout.

They have two sets of menus. Japanese ramen and Chinese steamed rice bowls. I ordered the steamed rice. It tastes good 😋. It would be good if the side vegi can have more seasoning

This place is a hidden gem, but the name on Google maps doesnt match its actual name. There might be a change recently? The real name in Chinese says 蒸功夫 and the cafe specializes in steamed dishes. It does not serve Japanese food, nor does it serve Ramen anymore. Ive been here a couple of times, and I liked their dishes. I found this place while waiting for a table at the restaurant next door, but I actually enjoyed 蒸功夫 more. Service is a bit slow during meal times, but thats most likely because they steam their dishes to order. The herbal soups are also authentic and flavorful. The owner is super friendly. I hope with some hard work, his restaurant can become as popular as the one next door.

The most flavorful chicken Ramen I have had. The broth is decadent, the chicken perfectly seasoned, and the amount hearty. I also recommend the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings.Service is very friendly and makes you feel like family.
