I just returned from a trip to Japan, and I had been looking for the most authentic & best ramen spots in the Central Valley! AMAZING tonkatsu ramen & gyoza
Food was 10/10 highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a cute date spot or just something small in general lovely staff and friendly environment!!
I used to love the place with all my heart, they have the best tasting broth but over the years theyve downsized their ramen bowls, given few eggs, less choices, smaller and lower quality cuts of meat. Its still one of the best in town, but no longer at the top.

Went on a Saturday evening, without reservations, we were greeted and seated immediately. The food was served right after we ordered. Very tasteful and rich! We ordered spicy garlic Edamame as an appetizer, spicy chicken Yaki Udon and spicy tantan men. We highly recommend their Hot Sake 🔥
This place has great atmosphere and food that is some of the best in town. However service has been an issues the last few visits. Asking for no spicy toppings for a child and the dinner being covered in it was the most recent fiasco. we said no spicy mayo they then adked if we wanted any on the side. We once again declined saying it was for a toddler. once the item came out it was covered in the mayo and when we asked for a refund we were told we should have been more clear. Hopefully they have a better service next time otherwise this will have to be a no go for me.

Hon Ramen is my favorite ramen spot in Bakersfield. The Spicy Tonkotsu is absolutely amazing every single time! The servers are always welcoming, and the restaurant is small and intimate which is nice. Highly recommend.

I ordered doordash all the time and they have literally the best spicy tonkotsu ramen and Ive ever had but Ive never been successful going in person to eat there because its so small there arent any tables and normally 30 to 45 min wait
By far the best ramen I’ve had in town so far! The chashu pork is always super fresh and the chef makes the pork broth proper! I also had the snow crab hand roll but ate it before I could take a picture! Must check this place out.Update: since my last visit I’ve gone to three other restaurants for ramen. Ten gu ramen sushi hanshi and toro sushi. By far hon ramen is the best specially the pork belly and soft eggs. Must try.
This was the first time I’ve ever had ramen and it was amazing and the portion was incredible, I would 100% go back and the lady who helped me was so sweet and nice explaining what everything was and her recommendations for anyone wondering I got the spicy chicken ramen

It was an otherworldly experience, my body ascended with each bite I took. The Spicy Tonkatsu ramen is my number 1 dish. The servers never give a reason to complain. Perfect for a date or family, I’d even go on a date with myself. Highly recommend.

If you are searching for the best ramen in town then your search is over! Ive had the Tantanmen and the Spicy Tonkotsu and they are both delicious. Dont forget to order the egg soft boiled.
I went into Hon whatever its called, I was immediately forced out the door with my electric scooter and told I cant ride inside which I never did as I showed my phone to pick up an order. I proceeded towards the counter I was then told to leave the food alone till I confirm the order before picking it up. Very rude in that establishment.

OMGoodness, I didn’t know how much I needed that 🍥🍜! I got the spicy chicken Ramon. So good. And the K-Pop in the background... my favorite 😍. The staff was friendly and professional. Met a couple who told me they stop in regularly. Ill be back for sure.

My girlfriend and I were stuck in Bakersfield due to bad weather. We had a craving for ramen and the other restaurants were packed and not doing take out orders. We defaulted to Hon and were not disappointed. We both ordered the tonkatsu and loved it. Perfect sized portions, the broth was great and the pork was excellent. Friendly, fast service, great value. We had take out but the dine in had a good atmosphere and we are definitely going back the next time we pass through.
Moved away from Bakersfield and have not been able to find a Ramen anywhere in Texas that comes close to the excellent flavor that Chef/owner Steve creates. We miss your food and service you and your wife provide!Sincerely!Mike and Kelley

Cute little spot off Chester downtown. Fantastic broth, well cooked noodles, chashu tastes great, everything comes together with their signature Hon Ramen dish. Great service, affordable price, must see if youre near downtown.

My family and I went to this place a few weeks ago and the atmosphere is nice and food is great! The only downfall I have is their prices for their drinks are super high. We got this 1 Japanese beer and it was super great but they charged 14.99 for it! Yeah, so if you dont mind paying that much for it, then this place is top notch! By the way, I looked up the price for this beer if you bought it at a store or online and it is around 5 bucks! So, they charge way too much and I dont know why! Anyway, their food is really really, Im pretty impressed and Im picky when it comes to Asian good ( hence Im Korean).

Service is the best they always treat us as if we are family they always take a time to talk to us. Food is delicious always appetizers are a bomb, we always order Tonkatsu ramen, bulgogi bowl, California roll, bake salmon roll, hon roll and more never been disappointed. 100% recommended
It was me and the wifes first time at this establishment . The waiters are quick and seated us accordingly . The atmosphere is great very modern. We both ordered the “spicy tonkatsu ramen” and a side if sushi . The ramen was brought out to us fairly quick . We didnt have to wait forever like we do at “ O RAMEN” . The broth was just as advertised spicy but no unbearable . The chasu was very flavorfull . The portion size is great . Everything about our visit today was great . The ramen 10/10 . This is a major go .

No bro.....jus make your own noddles. This is my first time eating Restaurant Roman.I ordered an appetizer of egg rolls, was basically three small spring rolls cut in half. 😩 $9 for that!Vegetable Roman wit egg was tasteless. Idk if they dont believe in salt but it had absolutely no flavor! I can say a whole lot. We make tofu n noddles at home all the time n we make it good. Maybe its supposed to taste like it doesnt have salt or garlic or onion or anythin good ..idk 😐
I was stationed in Japan for two years. This place is 100% legit Ra. From the broth to the meat. It took me back to eating ramen on the streets of Roppongi, Tokyo.And they Had Orion beer!!! Truly it’s all in the details.I will be coming here more often now! Thank you for bringing this to Bako!

My favorite ramen joint in Bakersfield! The broth is to die for. You can really tell the broth has so much depth. Customer service is great and attentive. We always get the adagashi tofu and added bamboo in the ramen. I recommend the soft egg. We always return here!

The food is good but the people who run this place are cheap. Didnt get any Wasabi or Sriracha for my rolls. 1 slice of lemon was $1. This is the second time this has happened.

2023-12-07 12:03:51Literally my new favorite ramen 🍜🤤 restaurant. The Spicy Tonkatsu was sweet, rich, spicy and full of flavor. The noodles had the perfect texture. Definitely not the cheap stuff. The fried cream cheese stuffed jalapenos were so good, we had to order another. I highly recommend this place. I plan on coming back. The best ramen place in Bakersfield in my opinion! 🌶️❤️🍜🔥

2023-11-11 19:46:49Hon Ramen is, hands-down, my favorite ramen place in Bakersfield. My go-to comfort foods are the spicy tonkatsu, spicy tantanmen ramen, and sukiyaki bowl. I love how they offer Japanese and Korean items in their menu so I get to add gyoza, takoyaki, karaage, and kimchi to my meal. It’s a plus, too, that Hon has a pretty neat bar and beverage list. A bottle of Asahi always goes well with spicy ramen!Besides the food and drinks, there are more to Hon that deserve to be shared. I always feel well taken care of by their servers even when I come in peak hours. I may come here less often since I closed my downtown office, but I make sure to swing by or order from Uber Eats whenever I can.

2023-03-19 18:50:52Good atmosphere that serves sushi and ramen of various types. We ordered the Hon Ramen, spicy Garlic Ramen, vegetarian ramen, spicy tuna roll and hidden dragon roll. All the ramen and rolls were very tasty and the presentation of the food was nice. The place has street parking in front and has a sushi bar located in the rear of the serving area with tables for seating in the front. There are also TVs on the wall on both sides showing various sporting events. We had NFL on one side and march madness on the other. The broth of the ramen was very flavorful and the soft boiled egg was very tasty. Prices are reasonable, 12-16 bucks for the ramen and 8-16 bucks for the rolls. You can expect a bit of a wait time to be seated as it is not that large of a place. We had a medium sized group which took a little longer for a table to be prepared. Not necessarily kid friendly as they dont have a kids menu available, we just got our son a bowl of rice and shared some ramen with him. Overall, I would go again.

Even though it was extremely busy (hence the bar seating, we were okay with not getting a table because we never sat at the bar before), they made sure to keep checking on us, nestled aaaall the way in the corner to see it we needed anything. They went above and beyond.Also, this goes without saying, but the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was perfect, and my boyfriend’s Spicy Garlic Miso was great. I recommend ordering nori (seaweed) and bamboo shoots on the side!!
