Hummus Republic in Goleta

One of the best new places to open in IV. I love mediterranean food and am very happy that this spot opened. Choose-your-own, “chipotle” style serving, except with a delicious variety of hummus, greens, vegetables and sauces. They also have an interesting mix of lemonades, ranging from turmeric to sage and pink lemonade. Great outdoor seating on the patio

Obsessed. Absolutely LOVED the lemon chicken. I didnt like the shawarma as much, but it wasnt bad by any means. I got a tonnn of toppings because it was my first time there. Extremely generous portions and not even a bad price compared to similar restaurants. Everything was delicious. Never had couscous before, now I know i like it! The warmed garbanzos are incredible. The toppings are unique and delicious. I got the kalamata hummus, harissa hummus, and the original and all of them were EXCELLENT. The kalamata is very strong in the hummus, so if you prefer a more subtle taste then I wouldnt get too much. The lemon chicken was incredibly tender. Also got lemon + olive oil dressing as well as the jalapeño garlic tahini. Got a fried jalapeño - delicious. They filled my bowl to the brim! Overall just excellent, so many flavors.

The food here is pretty good! I’ve only gotten it once but I would go back to try it again. We placed an online order. It wasn’t ready when we arrived so we had to wait a little. The inside was pretty small. We didn’t eat there. If you like Greek or Mediterranean food, I would recommend this place! I can’t wait to give them a try again. I wish I had gone during my last trip to Goleta but there wasn’t enough time. Next time though!! Hopefully :)

Fantastic Mediterranean food. I love their falafel and pita chips as well. So easy to eat here as a vegan. All their sauces are vegan and they have multiple protein options for vegan/vegetarian. Sat outside and parked my bike at right there.

Welcome to my first time being a Karen and leaving a review for a food place. The food at hummus republic is amazing and I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the horrible service experience I just had. Usually the service is good but it might be iffy this summer because I just spent a whole 15 minutes to get a bowl and loaded sweet potato fries. I usually don’t complain about service work because I have been a service worker before and it’s not easy but this was not a good look for Hummus Republic.I walked into the store and there was nobody there for about 2 and a half minutes. Then somebody walks out the kitchen to take my order. He starts with the base as usual, but then another coworker comes out of the kitchen and the one doing my order just walks away without finishing. The second coworker is walking over, but then the boss walks in and the second worker has one or two minute conversation with the boss instead of taking my order. The first worker comes back from the kitchen and sees that nobody has finished my order so he comes over and finishes it, but I am still waiting for the fries. They ring me up while I’m waiting for the fries and I thought the price was a little low, but I’m not gonna complain about a discount. So I pay and eventually they give me the fries which I was getting for my girlfriend and as I walk out the store I’m thinking “these are called loaded sweet potato fries, but they have nothing on them??” So I go back into the store and ask for the loaded sweet potato fries and the worker is like ”it’s gonna take like 3 minutes.” Then he’s like like “wait didn’t we just give you sweet potato fries, I can just use those.” As a former service worker in a cafe I know this is a HUGE no no, but the owner was there and I wanted to see if he would actually do anything or get mad at his employee. So, I pass the fries back OVER the counter and he finishes making the fries and the owner says nothing. Then instead of giving me the fries so I can go since I’ve been there over 10 minutes, they have me wait so I can check out. Then the woman at the counter who I think is the owner’s wife or something tells me why the mistake happened by explaining that I said the wrong thing when trying to order the loaded sweet potato fries and that’s why her worker misunderstood me, which 1, is not what happened, 2, she wasn’t even there, and 3, what ever happened to the customer is always right. So after that little awkward accusation she can’t figure out how to charge me for the fries so I’m thinking “why not just avoid getting a bad review and let me go at the slight discount since they have already inconvenienced me with poor service” but, no. She brings in her husband who charges me the $4 difference between what they gave me originally, and the price of what I actually ordered. Moral of the story is, hummis republic food = great, service = good usually but might be trash this summer, owners = unprofessional and don’t know the basics of food service. Also my friend who used to work there said the owners wife is weird.

We were so excited to find Hummus Republic in IV. There’s a lack of Mediterranean/middle eastern food in SB in general, so we were really excited to find this. I’m vegetarian and they have tons of choices for me. I get the bowl and they are very generous with their portions. I try a different base every time, but my go to spread is the tzatziki. Lots of protein options and a bunch of toppings that you can load up on. I would recommend grandma’s hot sauce and the tahini as sauces on top. Their pita is also freshly baked in front of you. If you’ve never had Mediterranean food, this is a great place to get a feel for the cuisine. Looking forward to going back soon

Very tasty middle-east inspired food with a modern twist. Many vegetarian options. Not fast food per se, but fresh food assembled to match your preferences put together as you watch.

Modern twist on Mediterranean food. Many healthier low-carb options. But some flavors were too sour to my taste.
