The food was incredibly tasty, the wait was short and the staff was remarkably attentive and kind as well.

Weve been coming here for years bur will not do so in the future.Unfortunately in winter at night with it being 50 degrees out the manager refused to close the door due to them having no ventilation and it being a health code violation (which begs to wonder what other health code violations they are running with) in the establishment. Every customer had jackets, hoods, beanies, and gloves on with everyone shivering over their plates trying to stay warm. We were also demanded to order immediately due to a big order being put in. No Sriracha, no soy sauce plates were available either for custom use.The rolls were mediocre but we couldnt even enjoy our meal because we were literally shivering and couldnt wait to get out of there. One of the members of our party was do disappointed she left to go home and the manager told is that the next time we patroned the establishment she wouldnt be able to take her udon off the tab, which weve NEVER encountered at any other restaurant ever. The manager also told us not to come back so we definitely wont be.PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE AND FROSTBITE AND DO NOT COME HERE!
Sunday at 4:00. I called several times to place a dessert order for pick up Noone answered eventually my called was forward directly to voice-mail. I went in I was politely cared for and was told it would a 25 minute wait. I mentioned that would be a long time because my family was in the car waiting. I said I couldnt wait and i asked if i had the correct number because i kept calling. another girl I assume shes a server there rudely told me were to busy, we dont have time to answer the phone, when we get like this we gotta put that phone on hold... I wouldnt have left a negative review if the first girl who took care of me wouldve finished taking care of me because she spoke kindly and made sure they had the items I requested. I assume shes the hostess/Togo girl. There was no need for the other girl to even say anything. I understand it can get overwhelming with so many tables but I simply wanted to order a dessert and it felt like my order was not of importance because it was busy! If you plan to eat here or call for pick up do not do it on a Sunday because apparently theyre just way to busy to care for you!!
I’ve never had worse sushi besides from a gas station. First off the tables are so sticky if you put your phone on it you might not be able to pry it off. Miso soup probably had been cooked over and over and over again to where the salt content was condensed 5x. Sushi had rice that was likely a few days old and had that hard left in fridge uncovered feeling. Fish inside sushi was probably not sushi grade and shouldn’t even been served. They mixed the cheap wasabi powder too dry and was likely old as well. They even had the ginger be dry like it was sitting out for too long. Worthless employees as well who look confused when you ask for a plate and soy sauce bowl. Not loving having to share a soy sauce bowl with another person at your table. Go to Safeway and get sushi, it will be a lot better and won’t make you sick.
Trash.. worst food prep ever on the over 10 years weve come here. Tempura was so greasy.. seems like they let it drain in our boxes, beef teriyaki was more like thin beef jerky. Rice was great. Sushi rolls ordered off menu were good.. sushi included in our bento box was mushy and falling apart. Gyoza was deep fried to an over crispy dark brown, after we were told we could order steamed. 3.00 soft drinks in a can, perfectly cold and refreshing. 20% tip we had to pay.. due to a toddler at the table.. ridiculous. Anyhow, Sushi Daruma in Salinas will be where we will now take our business and out of town guest. Waitstaff was 2 out of five stars, the young lady at the register could give 0 effs about our complaints. So... Ikebana, your managers owners need to get in there and talk to your staff, some customer service training.. etc
Weve done both dine in and take out. Great food and good service for a casual eat or nice casual date. For holidays like valentines, mothers day I would definitely order ahead an then expect another hour wait. Otherwise great.

Service was less than spectacular, as was the food. Got two rolls and both were not good at all. Server seemed annoyed when we asked for anything, even straws and napkins. Only positive is that they were able to reserve a table for our large party. Better options for sushi nearby so dont waste your time.
Came in for dinner they didn’t have lemonade and every drink cost 3 bucks for a can soda, they don’t give sriracha because they are limited and they tipped themselves 20% at the end waitress only came to our table 3 times which is total bs. Foods ok but overpriced. Not worth visiting again

This place never disappoints. Ever. I am a type 1 diabetic and this is my go to place. The food is always top quality and the servers are fantastic. Never had a bad experience. If youre coming into town for a visit, hit this place up.
This use to be one of my favorite restaurants to take my family but in recent visits Ive noticed, along with my daughters that the customer service is not what it use to be. Rude, and felt not welcomed and also rushed! Please work on the customer service and friendliness. Make people feel welcomed.

First visit ever so I wont be too critical but the employees just hang out and talk. It seems to me theyre overstaffed. Perhaps we were early before a rush though. We didnt get checked up on much and they took our order wrong. Made me feel bad when the chef had to make me another roll. I tipped the chef not the server after that. Price wasnt worth it.
First time trying this place. We had the worst service ever. We were hoping to have lovely dinner night with my kids. We place our order and one of my kids got his dinner first, then we waited about 30 to 40 minutes for the rest of the food. I ask the server how much longer we had to wait and her response was “ I don’t know the chef it’s really busy. He has a lot of orders but if u like I can get yours to go.” Seriously!! So disappointed 😔.
Good food, make sure to get food right when its done if you order anything fried, as it will be soggy within 5 mins of being in the plastic bag. Phone service could be better as there is no wait list (you just have to hope nobody else has allowed called at the same time you did). I would recommend this place if you like Ramen as theirs is one of the best. I hope they will soon implement a way to order online as calling is a nightmare.

I havent been here in ages. But it did not disappoint. This place use to be one of my favorite restaurants. Tonight, the food was just as good! We had a very sweet and great server. We all left quite satisfied!
I love this place. Absolute great service and fast service at that. The sushi is just mouth watering and very tasty. It really is hard to choose what roll to eat as there are so many favorites. No matter what roll you get, they are all just so good. Its like being in sushi heaven and then it just gets better. Love their salmon and tuna rolls, deep fried rolls, nigiri rolls as they are all DYNAMITE. Hungry for sushi or trying it for the first time. Ikebana is a must stop.

I hesitated coming here because I had heard of negative things, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. We were seated fairly quickly and our server was so kind and helpful. The atmosphere itself was relaxed, I appreciate the holiday music as well. Now, the table tops felt sticky and dirty as well as the menus. As for the food, I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t finish it. The miso soup at the beginning was ok. It was warm, not hot like I would assume it should be. I ordered combination tempura for appetizer and it was okay. After, I ordered the Money Maker Roll and As soon as I saw it, I knew it wasn’t going to be great. The raw fish on top looked brown, the rice had a different taste I cannot describe other than maybe it had been rinsed in dirty water. My daughters shared a chicken teriyaki box and their chicken also looked brown and old. I honestly don’t like sending things back because I don’t think there’s much you can do to a plate if this is already how you make it and I’m also scared of getting spit on it or something on it’s way back so I just left it there and waited till it was time to pay. This will be my first and only ever time here. This is my opinion and my experience. I always suggest to experience before you judge although I did kind of beforehand. My instincts were correct in my case though.

Must be new owners since last year. Ordered to-go.. Food the last 2 times have been cold the teriyaki sauce was thick and looked like mush. The girl at the register was named Marianna she was rude and seemed to busy for me after she took my payment. Was missing food and when I called her excuse was thats how the food is coming out today... then she tried to cover up that comment with our cook was not here today. Poor service and food unfortunately now disgusting:(

Their full house roll has no match to its flavor and texture! The best rolls I have ever had. Their ramen broth is superb but the noodles leave something to be desired, it was similar to instant ramen noodles. When we dine in the service is to be expected based on time of day, but food is always outstanding.
Today was our first time ever trying here. It is also our last. we ordered the ramen at around $15 an order. it is literally maruchan packets dressed up with frozen vegetables and stew meat. I am disgusted by the lack of quality per price. Never again
Everything were yummy,,but only Ramen too look a like Stew with broccoli and piece of beef. No Naruto, no bamboo shoots, no boiled egg no bukchoi..I mean it could make it more look a like Ramen. 🙄 🙂👍 But sushis and bento were sooo yummy. Service is excellent..good staffs very nice and friendly. Only if they were not forgotten my Sashimi ordered I would have 5 star ✨✨✨ 🙂
Gone here a couple of times with my family and my fiance, the food is great and affordable, atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is always really nice, this one time my little sister in law was trying to learn how to use the chopsticks and the owner gave her a packet of really nice chopsticks. I would definitely recommend this place, will be going back many times.
Good sushi dinner was served promptly however the check took an eternity to arrive, but did apologize for forgetting us. Staff not particularly attentive, food was what a restaurant should serve, nothing extraordinary. nice decor although a few items un-classic Japanese and tacky like Christmas lights. Higher price than comparable places, portions can be weak depending on the dish. This place is good enough just doesnt excel.plenty of parking
The food was okay, but the service was horrible. I had to greet myself at the front desk, the waitresses were too busy talking to each other. They hardly wanted to serve. I heard them laughing at the customers who had just left as they were cleaning their table. When she took our order, I asked for the first item and she literally asked me what else with a face of hurry up lady and it wasnt even busy. Worst part is it was my birthday. She didnt even bother checking on us the whole visit. We will be sticking to Ko Ko Ros On South Main.

It’s not that bad. I prefer my teriyaki less sauce instead. They need a proper baby car seat holder/chair for their customers. Instead of flipping the high chair upside down. Because it’s not safe. But we appreciate that they tried.

Best sushi in Salinas! If its your first time I recommend the Super California and if your into raw fish the Philadelphia roll. Very delicious. It can be pricey but, they offer great Inexpensive rolls like the Golden California roll or Crispy Magana.

Food very good BUT orders were wrong, table dirty, had to ask 4 times to have it cleaned, no hot tea, had to ask for soy sauce twice. Service was not good AT ALL. Also started taking tables away, we felt like we had to rush to eat.

2.5 stars. Ate during covid 19, during the brief time dine in was allowed. Food was great, fresh, staff were helpful. Sanitizer out, plastics forks, staff in masks. But heavy duty menus, old, dirty... However, they had months of closure, no dine in. the restaurant was dusty, lamps with dust, cords grimy, tables legs dirty. One would think with months of closure a deep cleaning would occur.

Walked in as a party of 2 and they seated other larger parties before us that came in after us. Our waiter gave us our drinks then never came back. A random bus girl gave us our check and we left after waiting for 45 min.
The sushi here is good, the menu has most of what the average person would be looking for, the only thing Id point out is the serving sizes are somewhat smaller (at least for the cost) than other local sushi restaurants.
The “ramen” is a big offense to the Japanese cuisine. So disappointed, it is just two cups of the maruchan instan noodles that i could buy for one dollar. Please take these soups from your menu, for your own good. I don’t think you will have me back.

Tables and menu are sticky. Dust piled on the ledges. Gross. Asked our waitress to recommend her favorite special roll and she said I dont like sushi. They dont have their liquor license either so dont expect cocktails. Also the Viagra and the Brocolli rolls are horribly dry. Waited 10 minutes for our check after we were finished eating. Go to Fujiyama!!
The food is good. The restaurant has plenty of seats are we rarely have to wait to be seated. The menu offers quite a few items and everything I have tried, so far, is delicious.

I remember I had a very good experience with their food! I had a beef Teriyaki bento box and it was great for sure! (Although my favorite style is always somewhat greasy beef steak teriyaki that I frequently enjoyed when I lived in Manhattan before) I particularly enjoyed their peanut salad dressing that came with it. Beef itself was more than just plain and of course tasted great. Btw, the purpose of my visit in the area was for a job interview! Good mood inside too!
They have improved their service and presentation of food. They also found a way to eliminate the raw fish smell that was so pervasive previously. I would go back and try more things.
Horrible experience... Not only did they get our order wrong a few times. My 5 yr old was terrified and crying when she looked up to the tv and they had a zombie movie playing a 6pm. Blood and guts faces exploding on tv. They did change the tv above us when asked but continued playing it on the other tvs.
We ordered several times (to go) the chicken teriyaki with mixed tempura bento box for dinner & twice they forgot to include a shrimp tempura. I tried calling over 10 times & no one answers; it goes to a VM but you cant leave a message. And we got the California roll without wasabi. So disappointed.

Walked through entry, greeted by cashier. Hostess immediately sat us. Brought miso soup and water with lemon wedge. Returned for order, had 49ers roll with lunch special of teriyaki chicken, spicy tuna roll, with good rice and fresh, cold salad. About five minutes for order to arrive. Great friendly service, much appreciated. Food excellent, service great, good ambience within. Its probably my pet peeves, chefs did not wear hair covering. Not necessary just...... Other place in Seaside, had hair in sushi, chef not wearing hair cover.I will definitely go to Ikebana again and again, well worth my time. 49ers had super small super thin sliced of lemon wedge which I found amazingly refreshing and tasty. A great touch!
I just came home from a Great and enjoyable eating experience and couldnt wait to post a review. I was doing some business in north Salinas and really felt like eating some Japanese food for lunch....so I decided to give this restaurant a try.First, I was greeted and once seated, my friendly server began bringing me food before I had even ordered, edamame, cucumber salad, miso soup...wow! I ordered my entree, tempura...delicious. ...Evevything was delicious! !I remember eating here a few years ago, and it wasnt a very good experience, so I asked my server what has changed, new management.? She said new owners.Im so glad I gave this restaurant another try, and I know this will be my restaurant to go for Japanese food in Salinas....5 stars!

Really disappointed with the food. I got the tuna takaki and not even the tuna tasted like tuna.I am a big fan of eel so I always get the Unagi. It was dried and the Kazan, the the smoked sake tasted like cheap oil.Service was ok but the ladie confused, be servicial with being in your face. Not a place I will recommend to eat sushi.
More of a sushi place. Huge menu of rolls. Had unagi roll and one with yellowtail and tuna. Very good, as was the tea and miso soup. For some reason my katsu donburi came with teriyaki. One of the 4 waitresses who came to my table assured us that teriyaki is how they have always topped their donburi. Which is unfortunate, and I would have just ordered sushi had I known. Everything was excellent though. Very relaxed place.

The price to quantity ratio is solid. The taste and quality could be better though.I think they need to remove a lot of things from the menu if theyre not good at it. The karaage was good but the ramen fell short. I ordered beef ramen and it was like something youd make in college. I wouldnt be surprised if it was just top ramen packets with the beef soup powder. It was topped with broccoli, carrots, cucumber, and slices of beef. This is not how you make ramen properly and not the kind of topping to put in a ramen.For one the soup types should include shio (salt), shoyu (soy sauce), miso (fermented bean paste), and tonkotsu (pork). Then you top it with slices of pork belly, soft boiled egg, scallions, corn, garlic, kimchi, and nori seaweed. Id like them to either learn to make ramen properly or take if off the menu.
My mothers last wish was for their quisine so I was getting her meal and saw bibimbap on the menu. I ordered it and it was presented very beautifully and tasted amazing! Thank you for making my moms last meals amazing and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a very well done bibimbap.

The food was okay for a japanese/korean place. They did give us complimentary sushi, soup, and cucumbers which were good. We ordered the ramen/noodles thinking they were Japanese ramen, but it was Korean ramen. The portions were really big. We also ordered the combo with tofu soup and short ribs, it was okay.
Super amazeballs sushi! I dared to compare it to Ocean Blue Sushi Club in Sunnyvale, CA and turns out they used to be business partners. Definitely the best sushi in Salinas hands down. Not even the busted ass places you think SHOULD be good in Monterey can touch this quality.

Restaurant is very clean and open, customer service just above par, Aprils roll fresh and delicious, cucumber salad large enough to share, happy they had real root wasabi.

2022-10-31 04:12:26First time my husband and I had Japanese food, everything was delicious.My husband had the Spicy BBQ Pork and I had the Beef Donburi, then for dessert we had the Deep Fried Green Tea Ice-cream.Excellent customer service.Well be back.

2021-10-02 03:06:26Hoped for better from reviews. Order taken, drinks late, after asking. One meal served, beef bibimbap, no crispy bottom. 10 minutes later I got my shrimp tempura. Thick batter, skinny shrimp. $16.00 for six. Veggies not on menu thrown in.

2019-11-07 04:52:01This is the desert they gave me for my 21st birthday and Ill tell you what. This is the best birthday desert I have ever gotten from a restaurant. Thats a huge ball of green tea ice cream DEEP FRIED, and I believe they put banana around it before deep frying it. DELICIOUS

2019-04-20 06:59:23I like to come here for sushi, and the only complaint I have is the tables are wiped weird. They are kind of sticky when you touch them. Besides all that the deep fried California Roll is amazing.

2019-11-17 04:43:30The menu had so many delicious options to choose from and I decided to get a roll of the Angel sushi and a bowl of the beef ramen. Although the wait was not long, I am truly disappointed with the food. This is not a traditional Japanese restaurant. Now I am not an expert here but when the menu said various vegetables were included in the ramen, I was excited. Upon my first look, I saw uncommon vegetable in the ramen such as broccoli, zucchini, and mushrooms. I am allergic to mushrooms and had to request a new bowl and the server was less than understanding about it and seemed bothered by it. In the meantime, I tried the sushi, which took way too long to get served, and it was disappointing. The sushi was dry and tasteless. The ramen was tasteless and simple. I would not recommend.

2022-08-10 02:33:14I used to love this place… but today, customer service was HORRIBLE along with the food! Our food took about one hour to come out (our kids were starving and were getting impatient) The restaurant wasn’t busy. We asked the server NICELY to clean our table because it was sticky. She came to SPRAY the table on our face and then came to spray the table next to us which almost sprayed on our food. The food tasted HORRIBLE, not sure if there’s a new chef that doesn’t know how cook. On top of that, the soup only had 1 shrimp, and some pieces of salmon the size of a quarter. We don’t mind paying for our food but this time was a waste of money because we didn’t eat the seafood ramen soups… We asked the server ANDREA to please bring us some bowls for the kids, she never brought them to our table, so I got up and went to the kitchen’s door to ask for the bowls. The server told me she was getting the bowl for us, but I told her I was going to take them to our table. After all this situation, we requested the host to let us speak to a manager to which she replied there was no manager on sight at the time and the host appeared bothered… So unfortunate we had this experience at this place I had always visited.
