Amazing sushi. Glad we stopped here. Great beer selection and the Thai tea was good too.
It was absolutely disgusting the fish on the Hawaiian roll was smelly it was the salmon we were there for 2 and 1/2 hours and didnt get our food for about an hour they gave the wrong ramen to someone the new owner got upset and said that the fish was “fresh” but the salmon was white and smelly not fresh don’t eat here . I would like to state that the power went out a day two before this incident and we have been eating here before the rolls we ordered were Hawaiian and Alaskan roll along with Mardi party . We have never had problems until they got new owners before this was a lovely place but please don’t try to sell fish after a blackout and lie about said situation saying it’s “fresh” .
My wife and I bought our friends a 50 dollar gift certificate.When our friends went to use the gift certificate the restaurant just changed hands literally days before. The new owner refused to honor the 50 dollar gift certificate. The old owner was still training the new owner and was standing right there. The old owner would not honor it either. So our 50 dollars we spend was stolen by the owners. We are going to take this to small claims court for stealing our money. Please avoid this place. Not honorable.

In all of the eateries weve visited so far in Red Bluff and Redding, this is by far my most favorite restaurant. We have frequented 5 times now in the last 2 years and have not even one time been disappointed with anything. The food is always fresh and delicious. The menu is deluxe with many selections to choose from. All of the staff, including the owners, are friendly, welcoming and attentive. Ikkyu is definitely a gem and a destination restaurant.
We had udon and the noodle was so good!! I think they make the noodle by themselves! The tempura was so crunchy and nice. When we asked for is it OK to bring kimchi can, they said its OK. I knew that it could be difficult request, but they were nice. And the price was cheap even the taste was soo good!Thank you so much!
Good food, great service, lovely beer!We found this gem on the first of 2 nights in Red Bluff on a road trip - we enjoyed it so much we came back the second night ! The Onibi beer is really cool and all 4 flavors we tried were tasty. Service was pleasant and attentive and food came out quickly. The whole place was clean, bright and nicely decorated .We had the salmon roll, Robb roll (I didn’t realize I needed bacon + curry in my life but now it is a must!), Tina roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, Jimmy roll, gyoza and harumaki. From the Onibi beers we tried California rice lager, peach pale ale, Belgian saison and yuzu white ale (my favorite!) all were SO good and served in a nice frosty stein.It’s not cheap but the whole experience is great so I’m ok with the prices.
Low quality food, we talked to the waiter about food. He brought some miso for the ramen soup. Another employee started to watch us directly, this was so uncomfortable. We do not recommend this restaurant!
Good service. And good food...for the most part.The broth on the Ramen was decent but the Ramen itself made me almost regret buying it; it was top Ramen like. The rainbow sushi was totally worth it and amazing, same with the gyoza. The pale ale was 7 months old, just over the cusp but still good/decent tasting.
BEWARE NEW OWNER! If I could do a zero review, I would! This restaurant has sold to new owner and totally terrible! I had a gift certificate given to me 2 months ago and they would not honor it! New owner absolutely refused! MoMo old owner is the one that issued gift certificate with NO expiration date on it and she was there working with new owner but THE NEW OWNER still refused to take gift certificate. The reason I received the gift certificate was because I told all my clients at work how much I loved Ikkyu. The business sign is the same and MoMo was there working so I had no clue it changed owners until I tried to use the gift certificate. The menu was different with a lot of my favorites gone so was wondering what was going on when I ordered and then the food was not as good as my last visit. WE ARRIVED AT 5pm on a Saturday and left at 6pm and we were the only people in the whole restaurant and we were wondering what was going on because we have never seen it like that. So unfortunately, I will NEVER return to this restaurant with new owner.
I used to go here all the time all through the pandemic. However they are reopened to dining and have a new sushi chef. The menu has unfortunately changed and the prices have gone way up. The $15 roll I used to get has turned into a $25 to $30 roll. Its a bit disappointing will be coming back but not as often as I used to. Still giving 5 stars cause the owner is wonderful and staff is very helpful.
We have supported this place for a long time. Unfortunately, something has really changed about this place. I think they have a few different cooks and Im guessing the best cook left awhile back? Fifty percent of the chicken dishes we order are not cooked right so the chicken is not edible - rubbery and not easily chewed. Were tired of spending high amounts to support this place and only being able to eat the rice. Too inconsistent to continue supporting. I miss the days when the chicken was juicy and AMAZING.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Very good, clean tasting, fresh food and sushi with excellent prices. Lots to choose on the menu from but EXPECT A WAIT! Its definitely worth it though. Good selection of local and import beers. Incredibly friendly and professional owners with a great wait-staff who are on their game and a pleasure to interact with. I recommend the bento boxes if youre looking for a great variety of some of their best dishes. Enjoy!!
Its a great little sushi place. Its nice to have a good sushi restaurant in our small town. Also, the staff is amazing. This is my favorite restaurant in Red Bluff.
The wait was a little long, but they seemed to be especially busy when I arrived. I got two bento boxes, which were a little pricey, but an excellent way to get acquainted with their food. Their vegetarian cooking is very good, which is a rare find in this area.
A surprising gem in (real) NorCal! Yes, authentic Japanese food in Red Bluff - coming from a happa who lives in SFBA. We try to stop here every time we go up to the family farm. Good sized portions, menu will satisfy everyone in the family, and friendly staff. If you have a craving for Japanese, you will not be disappointed!
I stopped in for lunch after Jiu Jitsu training in the same strip and was amazed. They had phenomenal service and crazy good sushi. I got the Samurai Roll and it had haunted me since in the best possible way. Cant wait to go back for more. Thanks Ikkyu!!
So happy to see a Japanese place here in Red Bluff! I have gone here multiple times since it opened and I will be back again. The bento box is my go to order, but everything I have tried was excellent. The staff is friendly and the environment is always clean. I recommend for anyone looking for something a little different
Wow! Unexpectedly fantastic!! Fresh good sushi in Red Bluff?? YES!!! And they are gluten free educated (have GF soy sauce theyll bring you). Trust me, I was highly skeptical when our friends said they have good sushi & Japanese food. You must try for yourself, you wont be disappointed!!! Well be visiting again 👍😀

This is a great japanese restaurant. The portions are very generous, the sushi is fresh and good grade. All their plates are tasty and the owner and the servers are wonderful. And...very reasonable prices for the quality you get. A group of us who meet monthly at the RedBluff park of study and reflection go to this restaurant and we never get disappointed.
I am incredibly picky about my sushi and prefer it a certain way. When I heard we were getting a sushi restaurant here in red bluff, I was anxious to try it because the closest place I could get quality sushi was in Chico. Let me tell you, I fell in love with this place the first time I tried it. Their sushi is DELICIOUS. My husband and I enjoyed it so much in fact that we went there about once a week for like a month when they opened haha! I love it.
LOVE THIS PLACE! My housemate and I would go every week at least if our budgets allowed. The lady who owns and rums it is always so friendly and sweet.Love the teriyaki chicken and chicken katsu, tempura and the salad. The dressing is sweet and tasty, I do not like salad much but I always finish it here.
Very very disappointed with Ikkyu Japanese Restaurant!I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 3 years. Friend of the restaurants owner, Momo. It used to have a five-star rating from me.Now I have downgraded to one star. Truthfully, there should be no star.Today, May 18th 2022,Went into the restaurant to order a takeout. Ive ordered two unagis nigiri, one crips dragon roll, $35.. As I was waiting for my order. Momo serve me very nicely flavored hot tea. About 15 minutes later my order comes. I paid, thanked Momo and left. I only live about 5 minutes from the restaurant. Returned into my house, sat down, opened my takeout order. To my disappointing surprise. Everything Ive ordered, cold. Not warm not hot. Cold, like it been sitting around for 2 hours cold. Ive immediately called Ikkyu, and talk to Momo. I was telling her how cold the sushi were. Momo tells me, you just left you the restaurant, hows is the the order? Ive responded, yeah I did. But the meal is cold. She apologized. Tells me that she no longer owns the restaurant and is out of her hand. Ive asked Momo to have my money back. She tells me, its out of her hand, because she no longer owns the restaurant. But she will tell the manager. Nothing was done. I told Momo that I would very disappointed that Ill never come back. Momo said I hope to see you again. I told her, not at that restaurant. You wont.What a huge disappointment!!Save your money.Not worth it.
We had a great experience! The food is delicious (we had the ramen and sushi and the kids enjoyed the vegetable tempura and the California rolls). The staff is very pleasant and follow Covid precautions. I highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed the food and staff every time weve eaten at Ikkyu in Red Bluff. The butterfly roll is my favorite. I highly recommend the ramen. Great place to eat and not terribly expensive.

Excited to try only Sushi place in all of Red Bluff, and left disappointed and feeling sick to my stomach, both my fiancé and I. Fish there look slimy and tasted horrible. We been spoiled obviously way to much in the Redding Area with Tokyo Garden, Bonsai sushi, and Kahunas, yahma sushi, Kobe’s and Kampi sushi... always trying new places is hit or miss, this place was definitely a miss.. Although good customer service and quite friendly I would never go back.. Definitely wouldn’t recommend

Ikkyu has some of the best food I have ever had by far! Absolutely delicious! We ordered a take bento box and an ume box, the jigoku roll and the spider roll ( those 2 were my favorite!) Some octopus bites ( I cannot remember what they are called) and a beef ramen bowl! If you havent been here I suggest you go! Best food in town!! I love them. Great food and amazing service! 10/10 indefinitely!!

Great ethnic Japanese foods, while being easy on the pocketbook. The place is small and cozy. Very friendly owners and staff. Makes going there a fun and comfortable place to dine and relax. And have a beer or two as well.
Ikkyu, how I miss you. Fantastic food and service to match! Now 45 mins away from Chico, its worth the drive. Momo is a gem. I recommend the Mary roll. Tell them Mary sent you. ;)

Authentic Japanese food, sushi very flavorful and the sashimi tastes as fresh as possible this far inland. Had the miso soup, gyoza and seaweed salad today. All were a cut above the restaurants in Redding and chico. Great addition to red bluff and highly recommended for this area.
Ive been a devotee of Ikkyu since Paradise. Their tempura vegetables and shrimp are some of the best items ive ever tasted. I order the pork ramen almost every time i go there and its fantastic. I cant possibly reccomend this place enough

Great place. Food was served hot and in a timely manner. The curry rice with chicken katsu was excellent. Wife had the bento box and it was great. Plenty to eat. Will definitely come back.

Nice place. Very expensive. Left there after spending $70 for 2 people (only 1 beer each) and grabbed tacos from taco wagon. Wont be back. But at least we tried it!!

The difference is night and day and I’ve learned that the old owner is back. Everyone and the food was excellent! Thanks to our server Nolan (excellent server) was really knowledgeable about the menu and the service was outstanding. 5 stars I will be returning definitely, you guys shouldn’t miss out!

It was cut badly, a strange color/smell, and had brownish markings on it. I had to throw it out. Such a waste of money.The woman there was nice, but only gave me one pouch of soy sauce?

2023-09-13 05:39:14The food is really a treat you dont want to miss Ikkyu, there are vegetarian options such as seaweed or cucumber (with real seaweed) salad, spicy edamame, deliciously prepared tofu steak, whole grain rice, sake. Also Fresh seafood and yummy chicken, the portions are large and classy.

2022-12-13 03:00:31I was in Red Bluff for work and we ended up here for dinner. Food was so good! It was fresh, great cuts of meat, flavor, all of it! We got the spicy garlic Edemame and recommend it. Service was wonderful and friendly. Ill be taking family for a drive just to eat here. Highly recommend it!
