Oh gosh the food is so good and the portions are so large. They are take out only right now, and that worked out so well because thats all we wanted. There was also some spots out front for us to sit since we ordered take out when we got there and waited maybe 15-20 minutes? Not long at all. Its so tasty of food too. Theyre probably in my top 5 Chinese food places now.
Tried this place for the first time on 11/13/21and I gotta say I was blown away how good the food was! We got the Mongolian Beef, hot&sour soup, chicken wonton soup and vegetable egg roll. The portions are a good size with lots of protein. I haven’t had this good of Chinese food in a long time!!
Iron Wok was a surprise - you wouldnt expect excellent Chinese food in Placerville, yet here I am writing a review saying as much. The food was delicious, the ingredients were quite fresh, the meat was plentiful and high quality, portions were generous, and selection was vast. My only very minor criticism is that the place is run by a husband-wife team, and she seemed quite exhausted, and thus grumpy. They should hire someone extra for the busy times to give her a break! But everything came out quickly and awesomely. We will definitely visit again, should the opportunity present itself.
It was a very hot day outside but the restaurant was air-conditioned and comfortable. The server greeted us and seated us quickly. We were a party of 5 and our orders were taken promptly. Food arrive quickly and was hot. I had the sweet and sour pork with fried rice combo which was crispy and savory. I will be back for sure!
Dad took me out to dinner tonight and we decided to try the Iron Wok. I love Chinese food and this was one of the best places Ive been to! The food was tasty and quite fresh. The tables and settings were neat and well-designed. The entire restaurant was clean and had a pleasant atmosphere. Finally, the service was great - our waitress was prompt and polite. Will definitely return here again!

Everything is super fresh. The flavors are authentic and delectable. Outstanding in every aspect. Sit at the bar and you can watch the chef play with fire. The roar of burners and the giant flames remind you that this is the real deal.UPDATE: Absolutely addicted! Best Chinese I have had in a very long time. Tried several different dishes and I struggle to pick a favorite. They are all outstanding.
The BEST Chinese food! Iron Wok used to be located in Elk Grove/Sacramento where lived, and now we go out of our way to stop in Placerville to eat/takeout at Iron Wok because the Food & family-owned business are so worth the drive!!
Super good. I have never had such perfectly cooked chicken breast in my life. This place has excellent food. It is a little expensive for the lunch combo, but it is totally worth it. The food is super tasty and very well cooked.
Wow! So much better than i expected, evwn with all the good reviews left here and on yelp. My family usually goes to a different place in placerville to get chinese food. Today, that place happened to be closed. I was a bit wary of trying a new place because you never know what you will get. And buying food for 5 or 6 people,... You want to get something you know everyone will like. After doing some research, and seeing tons of amazing reviews about iron wok, i decided we would go for it. We were not at all disappointed! The food here is nothing short of amazing! No exaggeration. The chicken in the dishes we got was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. Most orange chicken at other places comes out dry and sometimes hard with a lot of little batter pieces to fill it up. Not here! The dishes had chunky, tender veggies too. Everything was super fresh.This will definitely be our new spot for chinese food! If you have never tried it, i highly reccomend you do. You wont be sorry.
Delicious food and pleasant host!Chow Mien, Mongolian beef, and a delicious and tender (off menu) Salt and Pepper chicken were prepared by two cooks of passionate talent.Seating was open, even at noon on the weekday. And patio seating is a nice sunny day option for a Chinese restaurant on the strip.We are returning for sure.
This place is my bee favorite! Chicken is big juicy breast pieces, all very fresh and the dishes actually taste different from one another. Green beans with garlic sauce is amazing, so is the seseame chicken!
Best Chinese food Ive ever ate! You would never think it in its little modest store next to a bagel shop, but after you try it, youll never go anywhere else. Ive ate Chinese in major cities around the world and none of them can compare. So lucky, to have this level of quality Chinese food in my neighborhood.
Oh wow!! Food was phenomenal!! Get Mu Shu Chickenn Super fresh as everyone has said, chicken melts in your mouth.Portion were big (we are stuffed and will both have second meals).Very reasonable prices.
Iron wok I highly recommend. As iam a serious Chinese food cynosure with picky taste buds so I highly recommend Iron Woks menu. One of my favorites on their menu is the crab and cream cheese wontons, so super yummy! I even reordered for take out.😊

A new place in town to eat! We found this location by accident. Bagel place next door was closed. The food is AMAZING. We are pretty loyal to another location, but this place is too good. We have been there several times, never disappointed. Check it out, give a try, you wont be disappointed. Highly recommend.
Best Food you’ll find anywhere. Drove here from San Francisco Bay Area on a regular because of the amazing flavorful food. Totally worth the extra drive. Will continue to come going on my 11th year eating it still is amazing
China city is our favorite but after trying Iron Wok today this might be the new favorite. General chicken was very tender, Szechuan beef perfect amount of heat, chow mein noodles/fried rice were so good. I really loved the egg rolls and crabmeat wontons. Called order in ready in under 15 minutes great service.

Orange Chicken was very fatty and wasn’t good at all.The Walnut Prawns were slightly better but not very good. Couldn’t eat it all. Very disappointed.
I think this is the best Chinese food Ive ever had! I was a little surprised the very first time I came here, that there was no Lemon Chicken on the menu. But now Im glad there isnt, because there are so many other delightful, high quality choices here.

2023-10-23 21:47:58Maybe I just ordered a bad dish they don’t get a lot of requests for (twice cooked pork), but the food was not very good at all. I love Chinese food so eat it all the time from different restaurants in SF Bay Area… this one really missed the mark very much to my surprise. Based upon reviews I would absolutely give them another try but perhaps order one of the more popular dishes. Nice Clea spot, friendly professional staff and even fellow customers. Again, I suspect I just picked a dish they don’t do as well as others.

The prawns were fresh and a nice size!!!This is definitely a mom and pop restaurant, which is probably why they arent offering dine-in.Order the takeout!!! Its worth eating in your car!!!

2022-11-18 01:18:20It’s really unfortunate that it’s November 2022 and this place is not open for dining in. Photos made this place look delicious but they’re expecting us to eat in our car. Place looks spacious and nice, such a shame they would not open for tourism. I get that you get to save a lot of money in payroll by not staffing more people, but it’s also bad to not want to grow was a business.

2023-04-26 04:46:02This is the best Chinese food Ive ever had. They have cloth napkins and table cloths. The owners are very friendly and take great pride in making a patron feel most welcome. They remembered what I had ordered the previous time I visited them, 1 month prior. Every thing was delicious. The one negative review is ridiculous and in no way provides any information about this fine establishment.

In its tiny, unassuming establishment next to a bagel café, you would never guess it, but once you sample it, you wont want to go anywhere else. None of the Chinese food Ive had in big cities around the world has come close. I feel extremely fortunate to have access to Chinese food of this caliber in my area.

My favorite Asian cuisine in the area, maybe anywhere…their chicken dishes taste amazing and everything is so fresh!! Reasonable prices…spent $35, fed 3 adults, and have leftovers! They are consistently outstanding.

2022-06-21 17:32:26We came in for dinner but saw that it was take-out only because they were short staffed. However, they let us sit out on their patio tables to eat our meal. The lady was so nice. She bought us our food and let us know they would be closing soon, but showed us the nearest trash can so we can throw away our trash when we were finished. The food had so much flavor. I got the eggplant in garlic sauce with chicken and omg it was the best. We had some chow fun too and loved it as well. We will be coming back soon :)
