Everything was super delicious and the vibes were great! For appetizers get the spicy tuna crispy rice, popcorn shrimp, and lots of the skewers. The wagyu and toro nigiri was unreal and melted in my mouth. My favorite thing we ordered was by far the premium chirashi bowl. Every piece of sashimi was incredible. Can’t wait to come back here and try more things!! Will add that we had a reservation and ended up being seated an hour after our reservation time when we came 15 minutes early. Was super frustrating but the chef gave us complimentary salmon sashimi to express their apologies.

I visited Izakaya Tora for lunch on a Friday afternoon & had quite the feast! There’s indoor and outdoor dining, and I opted to sit indoors at the bar because I had the omakase set.I’ve had omakase at fine Japanese restaurants, so I was pleasantly surprised at how good the quality of fish was at this Izakaya joint. Each piece of sushi had unique toppings & flavor profiles with a good range of fish. My sushi chef was Phil, who’s such a friendly & entertaining guy!9 PIECE OMAKASE SET BY PHIL:⁃ Red Snapper top with yuzu⁃ Black Snapper tiger tobiko⁃ Goldeneye snapper with tobiko and green onion⁃ Salmon belly with tobiko⁃ Yellowtail with tobiko⁃ Chutoro with A5 Wagyu, kizami wasabi & green onion⁃ Otoro with caviar, truffle & gold⁃ Santa Barbara uni with shaved truffle⁃ Engawa with shiso leaf and ankimo⁃ Fried baby crab⁃ Tamago made on stovetopAPPETIZERS & AL A CARTE:⁃ MISO SOUP: Classic miso soup with cubes of tofu and seaweed.⁃ SALMON DONABE: This stone pot with salmon and salmon eggs was so delicious! The sauce was sticky, sweet & sour.⁃ TUNA SASHIMI: The presentation of these fatty fresh slices of tuna sashimi was so cool, it sat on an icy tuna fish!⁃ YELLOWTAIL SASHIMI SMOKED IN APPLEWOOD: I love when fish is torched or smoked, and the applewood flavor really came through! Great Japanese restaurant in WeHo. Fresh delicious sushi 🍣. The portions are extremely small for the price. The waitresses seem overworked and confused (e.g took my ginger away before I was done with it, accidentally bring the check before the last dish arrives etc.) but overall great food!

Such an amazing local sushi restaurant!The staff here is extremely kind and attentive, even though we arrived towards closing.The sushi is really good and the quantity is substantial.I recommend this restaurant if youre looking for sushi in the West Hollywood area.Though you should be warned that if you go towards the evening, there is loud music from the nearby clubs and bars, which gives it a fun atmosphere, but might be loud for people wanting a quiet place to have dinner.There is inside seating but the restaurant shares a wall with a bustling nightclub next door.

Came her with my mum last night for a quick meal.We were really impressed with the quality of the meal. We ordered varying dishes including the yellowtail jalapeño and the baked salmon roll plus some agedashi tofu and other tempura.Food was top notch and my mum was in agreement too.Might go back there tonight for a quick dinner before heading on for the rest of our trip.

This place has the best sushi in the area. You can see and taste the freshness of the sushi. It is very authentic and they just know how to get the rice right. As good as in Japan I must say… but not just their sushi is amazing, the rest of their menu, like the yakitori and donabe are to die for. Oh and one more thing, the prices are equally good. Definitely a must go to if you love Japanese food.

I tried this place with my bestie for lunch and it was our first time. Of course, we were seated in the patio and each table had plexiglass that separate you from other tables. This is the first time Ive seen this at an outdoors restaurant and I was into it! :)Food quality:First of all, we ordered a few different items but let me talk abt my faves: 1. the crispy rice w spicy tuna, 2. albacore carpaccio with crispy union plate and 3. salmon carpaccio plate. 100% to die for! The fish alone seemed to be great quality fish. Not too fishy. The albacore was so soft, like butter. Also, the carpaccio sauce was the cherry on top. The crispy rice was not too crispy, it was just right and seasoned well. Not to mention, the presentation. BEAUTIFUL!!! I couldnt be happier.Guest Service:Tori was our server for the day. She had a face mask + the plastic covering over. Can I just say, she was extremely sweet, welcoming, kind, attentive and genuine!!! All the nice words you can think of, shes THAT! :) If I could rate the servers, I would also give her a 5/5. Because of her excellent service, it makes me want to come back and bring other friends and family. A big thank you for her service during these times of uncertainty and really taking care of us!I would highly recommend but in the meantime check out the cute photos I took.

Izakaya Tora is truly an exceptional Japanese restaurant thats located in the heart of West Hollywood. The restaurant looks quite small from the exterior so you may miss it walking by but the signs there. When you enter, the restaurant is brightly lit up by natural light, thanks to the large windows in the front. As you walk in, you have the option of sitting at either the sushi bar or at the tables. I definitely recommend you sitting at the sushi bar so youre able to witness how all the dedicated chefs here prepare your meal in a very meticulous manner. Youll be able to see the amount of concentration and energy they put in to make your plate presentable.Omakase: Every single fish that was served was perfection. The amount of flavor and umami melts in your mouth at first bite. Although I forgot most of the names of the fish, the Santa Barbara uni (sea urchin) was decadent. When the chef was preparing the omakase, I could see how detailed he was in terms of presenting the dish and topping each fish with a garnish; whether it be gold flakes, caviar, or yuzu.Chicken Karaage: lightly fried but immensely juicy on the inside. Unlike most places who serve the same dish, the skin is typically fried well done so it tastes dry and unpleasant. Whereas here, it tastes light but still has the same composition as a heavily friend chicken. The sauce it comes with also adds a good kick in the flavor.Miso Eggplant Tempura: I personally hate eggplant with a passion because I cant stand the taste and texture but the Miso Eggplant Tempura blew my mind. At first glance, it doesnt remind you of an eggplant because of the tempura batter covering it. My initial bite of the tempura made me believe it was some type of tofu because it didnt really have that eggplant texture and taste I abhorred. In addition, the miso and yuzu sauce that was drizzled on the top of the eggplant was more overpowering that it completely negated the terrible taste. It was the amazing sauce that made me enjoy eggplants again but then again, I can only enjoy it if I only ate at this restaurant.Okonomiyaki: Unlike the okonomiyakis Ive had in Osaka, the one served here is very different in terms of taste and looks. At first glance, the portion size is smaller than a typical okonomiyaki restaurant but then again, it is an appetizer and not a full entree. The texture is more on the crunchy side which I extremely enjoy. Every bite was as crunch as the first so I think theyve perfected a great okonomiyaki dish to serve.Salmon Carpaccio: favorite part of this dish was combining the fried onion and salmon into my mouth. Ive never had a dish quite like this where they serve sashimi with fried onions. The sauce that is served with this dish was more on the sweeter side but I have a more sensitive palate when it comes to sweetness so it may be just me. Its beautifully served with a flower on top. I thought the flower was edible but I realized I was wrong, whoops.Pork Belly Skewer: great in taste and with a hint of yuzu as a garnish on top of each pork belly. Each skewer comes with 3 pieces and at this point in my meal, I was already stuffed but I had to sample some skewers before I left.Miso Chilean Sea Bass: Holy fish this was a melt in your mouth foodgasm. By far my favorite skewer at Izakaya Tora. The portion size of this sea bass was generous in my opinion, especially for the price of it, you cant get that size anywhere else. The glaze paired well with the sea bass with a hint of sweetness. You cant go wrong with sea bass with any dish but how its prepared can be a struggle. I would most definitely come back and order more of this skewer because its worth my money.If you havent tried Izakaya Tora yet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you trekking out to West Hollywood and giving it a try. I cant stress enough on how wonderful this restaurant is and the quality of seafood they bring to the table. I guarantee you that your experience will be amazing and no matter what dish you order, you wont be disappointed.

Upset I waited till my last day in LA to try this place. The hype reviews are spot on-the food was AMAZING, not to mention the beautiful presentation. Went for an early lunch and it wasnt too busy. Very chill, nice place with nice chefs. The spicy tuna appetizer with the crispy rice with something else. The bowls with the sushi and rice - got the spicy salmon and it was just delicious. Def will come back first thing on my next trip to LA. Highly recommend!

This was one of the BEST sushi in quality I had in LA. Their sweet shrimp+uni+truffles was an eye opening experience. Loved their scallops too!!! The fish and food are fresh and tasty, but my group of 4 people paid over $200 for the meal and walked away still hungry. For a casual chow, it didnt feel very worth it. Very disappointed in the food.The eggplant tempura came out cold and soggy.The pork belly rotatable was really tough. You could hardly chew it. This place is so close to my house! A friend of mine introduced me to this place and I always want to come here for sushi.! I really like their Sushi and I really like their sake! Not a huge Drinker like I used to be but sake with sushi, will do it for me! You can sit outside, or you can sit inside. The people there are very nice, and very helpful. I love there spicy tuna hand roll, (or cut) and I love their salmon hand roll. I know Im pretty simple but those are my two favorites in sushi. They have others too, Im just horrible with names. 😂. And the pricing is not so bad its actually perfect for me Ill be honest! Their fish is always delicious, and nothing ever tastes gross. Everything is fresh! And Im really picky with how fish taste. You should come by and enjoy you wont be dissatisfied! So many other bars you can go to across from Izakaya Tora, after youre done, and you can enjoy people walking by as well while youre sitting outside. I love it here! Ive also introduced a couple other people to this place as well and they loved it too!

Based on the pictures and the reviews I saw on Google I was very excited to give this place a try, As they have a 4.6 rating. I was really shocked and surprised when I arrived at the place. This place is a dump. From cheesy decorations to piled up boxes everywhere, you would not expect to walk in to a place like this with a 4.6 rating. And then there was the food. Almost Everything we ate was overly sweet. We ordered the sashimi salad. It was extremely sweet with a drizzle of strawberry yogurt on top. I have never experienced anything like that and hope I won’t ever again. It was so nauseating. They also forgot to add the gobo and avocado to the salad. The waitress told me different chef at the restaurant prepare the salad differently, which made no sense to me. Later on she came over with a plate of avocado and gobo on the side and told us that the chef had forgotten to add it to the salad but we can go ahead and enjoy it with the rest of our meal. We had the crunchy albacore roll that had a sickly sweet sauce Followed by Sea bass tempura with more sweet sauce. We had the miso sea bass skewers which were delicious And the yellowtail jalapeño sashimi was also good. We had the salmon Donabe Which is a bowl of fried rice with cooked salmon, salmon egg, and masago All smashed together in a pile of gooey mess. The whole experience was so disappointing.Considering Nobu Malibu is rated 4.4, I’m not really sure how this place has a 4.6 rating. The bill came and we were shocked by the price. It was super expensive. I do not recommend this place and do not be fooled By the pictures and the ratings.

The most disgusting Japanese restaurant that I have ever eaten at. Its insulting that they even call themselves Japanese cuisine. The amount of low grade mayo and sickly sweet sauces is excessive at best. The homemade tofu was floating in watered down mayo sesame dressing and the meat skewers had no flavor at all. I would go to a gas station to eat sushi instead of going to this dreadful restaurant. Tourist trap, don’t be fooled by the reviews and pictures.

Cute, small restaurant. We were seated outside on a lovely night. The road is very busy, but it wasnt too disruptive. The takoyaki was so tasty, and the tempura tiger shrimp were phenomenal. Everything we had was really good! The soju cocktails are dangerous, so watch out. You cant tell theres alcohol in them until you start to feel it. Thank you!

What can you say? If you really want QUALITY and GREAT TASTE, Izakaya Tora Tora is the place to be! I went in late Tuesday afternoon and it was quite busy but I was able to be seated right away outside by the lovely hostess. I was immediately served with a warm greet and some hot tea.I went ahead and placed an order of the new lunch special that comprised of nigiri, rolls, skewers and a light salad! At first, I thought it wasnt enough food but as I was near finishing the plate - I was stuffed!Yes, the price is on the higher end of the spectrum but I will gladly pay a little more for QUALITY than quantity. The meal prepared by Chef Ben and Chef Francis was truly amazing and I think I just found my new lunch spot and Izakaya Restaurant!

Immediately we were impressed with how we were greeted with amazing hospitality. Located in West Hollywood and facing Santa Monica, the location is second to none. With outdoor seatings and plenty of natural lighting, they got the perfect spot in the area!Lets talk fish... TENDER! Flavorful! MELT IN YOUR MOUTH! So good. NOBU QUALITY AT LOCAL FAIR PRICES.UPDATE: My husband and I have been coming here minimum 2 days a week for the last 10 months. Never once have we been disappointed.Phil is the master sushi guy - anything he touches is gold. Ben is his partner and equally fantastic.You will be quite literally blown away by the freshness of the seafood here. Every piece of sushi they create here is perfectly prepared. We have never once had anything but a phenomenal experience. If you are looking for a real quality sushi spot at great prices, Izakaya Toro Toro is the place! The things they do with sushi are MASTERFUL.I cannot say enough good things. Do yourself a favour and go to Izakaya Tora... or don’t, so my husband and I can keep getting a table..!!

This is probably one of the best to get the best qualities of Sushi! Everything seemed so fresh and tasty. Crispy rice spicy tuna, Rock shrimp tempura, Chicken Karaage, Garlic edamame, Softshell crab Roll, Rock shrimp Tuna roll, Tora roll, Bluefin, Yellowtail, Salmon and Albacore were just so good and probably the best items of their menu. We got to try a lot of different things off the menu. The Shishito pepper was not worth it though, I would avoid it if I were you :)
